    The power suit was going in the right direction, going back to the '30s. We zoomed into the opposite with cheap, skinny suits. They represent plastic, factory-made suits from Asia, the death of the American clothing industry. We need to get back to quality, crisp, natural, comfortable suits and, thankfully, with enough ingenuity, the internet is making that possible.

      You’ve made it incredibly easy to spot you’ve never had a handmade/bespoke suit in your entire life. Asia which is home to the Changthangi or Pashmina goat ( cashmere goat ) produces the most luxurious and lightweight material that suits can be possibly made of, and is a favourite amongst suit enthusiasts. Due to its extreme price and its rarity it’s understood why a novice like you has no idea about the material. My recommendation for you is to keep buying off the rack.

      @@Aegon1stOfHisName The lighter the material, the more it wrinkles, and the lower a lifespan it has. Cashmere is certainly luxurious, but there's a reason heavy weight wools are now prized by historic British tailors, because the finer fabric today simply doesn't possess the drape and longevity of the older fabrics.

      @@spaghettiking7312I do agree , but living in a hotter climate, I myself prefer a lightweight approach to suits rather than the latter. Your point still stands however.

      Best to keep your goats as a side piece, as you usually do. Here, in the west we have fresco wool or tropical wool. It's the same fabric. It's heavy which guarantees a better drape and also, it's high twist, so that means it's a lot more breathable. It's the right fabric for spring/summer if you want a durable but breathable suit.

    The Power Suit / Wall Street Style is the only post-1960s style I can get behind and I love it. My roots are still within the early half of the twentieth century, but I love the 1980s style nonetheless and the Wall Street style is my go-to for most workdays. Black chalk stripe suit, Winchester shirt, red necktie, suspenders and all.

    I despise the modern Skinny suit, makes a man look like a ventriloquist Dummy. I recently discovered AskOkey, He seems to be reviving the trend of the Dominating male suit.

    I still wear suits quite often - never in my life have I felt bad whenever I wore them. If the material is good, the fit is great, you will feel like you can take over the world.

    I absolutely love those 6x1 double breasted suits from the 80's and 90's. I have seen some at goodwill and plan to keep looking until I find one that fits me well

  • @rastrats

    The New Powersuit didn't catch on earlier this current century because women have taken over a lot of the management type roles businessmen used to own. Now it's more appropriate for men to wear toned down notch lapels for fear of displaying excessive authority, which they don't have and that elicit accusations of pretentiousness. These are less certain times we live in, both economically and culturally, so appearing overconfident by wearing a power suit doesn't cut it, unfortunately. Agree?

    • @jonathansantos-bn1vw
      @jonathansantos-bn1vw Рік тому +2

      then there are men like me, we wear that power suit with all confidence with no care who is intimidated by it, thats the point of the power suit no? even if we not in a position of power, nobody dresses like this anymore and people automatically assume power and statues from you and treat you like such. men have to bring back power suits, forget the softies and women that dont like it, games the game.

      @@jonathansantos-bn1vwi agree i think we’ve become to reliant on the narrative to let us decide what is culturally appropriate because of a power imbalance. Just wear a suit on Saturdays more men will do it more often.

    The seventies and the nineteen eighties were the worst styles in men's fashion. Good video though!
