That was a great intro! You are going to help Mackie sell more of these. It sounds like it will be a great option for remote sound. Flexibility is priceless, and I see this bailing us out more than we could ever know.
Loved the intro, "Paper or Plastic" LOL. Its so sad that "Top of the Line" speaker companies did not come out with this. Those Thumps look awesome and replaceable batteries is genius.
I didn't really get the "paper or plastic" thing? Is it a drug reference? I assume it's when people abuse drugs like alcohol in the American movies but it seems so out of place haha! 🌈
Brought two a month ago and I love them for all the same reasons you do. Oh and I always use two speakers, one on each side at all my ceremonies too. I'm deeply in vested in my wireless lapel mics so I believe in that extra steps so every spoken word is crystal clear on both sides. Maybe that's the old schol in us, almost 40 years in the DJ game and still knocking down over 120 weddings a year plus sound gigs.
Do you use a DJ controller? How do the speakers connect to your DJ system? I’m not grasping the concept of say, using Serato and then having the music play on your wireless speakers. Thx
@@masterpdj2623 I tend to agree. Too many things can go wrong to stop the flow and the mix. I’d feel comfortable with cocktail hr or just BS time. But mixing, vows, bride walking down the aisle, etc is too risky because of cutouts, popping, etc.

Bought 4 of these due to this great review and use them several times a week, the battery lasts as they say Uve run these 4-5 hours and the battery has never comeoff of the green , they are very loud and clear, I run them with a behringer battery powered mixer which is hard yo find, bluetooth and linking works when using 2 speakers, the only thing I see to improve these is give them more gain in the mic setting when plugging directky in. Looks like a pretty solid speaker! I just got a Soundboks 3 to use for battery ceremonies as well as boat parties with my Denon GO and an RCA to SKAA connection. I do like the ability to adjust the EQ on the app, cool that Mackie has that too.
LOVE the idea of replaceable batteries…. That is an epic feature! I’m curious what your thoughts are on the sound output between the Mackie Thumps vs JBL Eon Compacts, etc. Thanks!
Great intro, none of the other vloggers have talent like you! I already bought a couple Eon Compacts though it has like the same SPL something like 112dbs. But the mackie is cool, kinda a day late and a dollar short time wise.
I like the progressions of solutions, I had a Behringer MBPA100BT, 100W. We moved up to the JBL Eon Compact at ~120w and better sound. I see this has a Class D 200w amp, that is a huge increase and comes in at ~200 less. I like that, at least from a business standpoint. I could see using 2 of these at a ceremony.
I was considering buying the Bose S1 speaker to use as a ceremony speaker and one to just take to little get togethers. But i may go for this instead. It being $250 cheaper is a big plus and im sure their replacememnt batteries are cheaper than what Bose sells. Skit was good BTW. I like the jacket.
Play recorded music thru one channel at a decent volume. Turn the individual gain knob to that channel all the way down. What do you hear? I still hear music on mine! Lowered but still there. Track faders on all my other mixers/combo amps completely cut channel audio to speakers when set to the off position. How's your Go working??
Great video. I'm actually in the market for a new setup of smaller PAs with a sub. I've been eyeballing the Yamaha Stagepas 600BT since it's so compact and easy to transport. But this is now on the list for consideration. If you had to choose between the two or something similar to the Yamaha and the Mackie, which way would you consider? My events are usually around 100 people or so. Nothing more. What do you think? I'm not so concerned about the system being battery powered or wireless as a must have feature. But it's nice to have.
Looks promising.. I already have the GO and the (I use wireless guitar 1/4) so this would be great. Question: I know it's 200w, but what about SLP? Are they loud enough?
Cheerz brother! I have this idea of throwing djsets on random places that i find interesting and get inspiration from.. mostly remote spaces / sceneries as i travel the world.. People in front of me ranging from 0 to a few people each time.. Question::: I'm thinking of pairing them with 2x 115s as well (23kg each and i play many low end music).. That combo seems great in my case for it's portability / performance ratio! How about that?? any opinions as a potential combo since you had them both? Question 2::: Mackie just dropped the price of the 118s at the same as the 115s... If i get 2x 118s instead i sacrifice some portability (29+kg) but i'll have bigger low end, plus the opportunity to get some 15'' full range PAs in the future.. maybe the Thump15XTs.. which is something i do consider. Do you think pairing the 18 subs with these 8 inch speakers is an ok move?? or is the size / power too different to exist as a combo? maybe it will suffer from massive holes in the midrange or something? Something tells me i should just shut my brainz and be happy with the 115's right? Thanks in advance!!
I love this speaker but a few things people should know: no reverb, no ability to update firmware in the future, EQ on App makes zero difference to sound, Bluetooth ability is lost if you XLR out to sub only works if hardwired in. I guess these downsides are why it is only $400.
Are these good enough to use as Studio Monitors? How would they compare to HR824's or the newer MR824's. Considering replacing my Yamaha HS8's with a pair of these and a Mackie Powered Sub. On occasion I would take one or two of these out, to the beach for example but main use would be as studio monitors. Think they would be good in this type of scenario?
One thing to know is which Bluetooth technology these use. If it's AptX LL, it may be suitable for DJ mixing use... which would make them more valuable.
Skit got an instant like from me, was wondering how many ways it could handle, I'm a busker but I'm also a Bassist, so I was looking around for something under 500 that I could run a hot active signal through and be able to keep up with a loud acoustic on a busy street

Just confirming so I could use this as a satellite speaker way across the room and don't have to run 100ft xlr cable
So you'd have to run xlr cable to both regardless if you're playing from a DJ controller then? Bummer. I was hoping you could only plug one in and use the other across the room with the Link! Why can't they make a version that does that haha, play whatever input whether xlr, trs, or Bluetooth from one and play it out the other linked and no cable running to the 2nd. Still might get them for their battery power to do ceremony in remote locations outside
