Got my first pocketknife for my 10th birthday and have hade one on me ever since, so that makes it 48 year’s by now.
I've said it many times but this is a really really innovative knife. We don't see many of those nowadays, since any knife has a blade shape and lock type that has already been made.
However, I wouldn't sharpen this one without disassembling it ! Magnets would take every bit of the steel dust coming off.

As a former combat medic, I actually see that firing mechanism as a clothing cutter. Pop the bar out then you can slide the handle under clothing using that small bit of exposed blade without fear of harming the patient. I have an alarm set for sale night.

Around 9:35, I feel that, the Sebenza and Shirogorov were already around when I entered the knife community! This is as everyone keeps saying innovation and awesomeness at its best! I can’t wait to get and experience mine!
The major innovation here imo is the magnetic 🧲 lock that eliminates the need for omega springs. It takes a great lock design and makes it better. That opening mechanism is a bit gimmicky, but the lock has potential.
I think the opening gimmick is kinda neat though. It’s different than anything else.
Ya not really an improvement at all just adding more needles parts & also limiting the design this thing looks stupid just because these UA-cam channels all shill each other's projects to fatten there wallets doesn't make it better or totally innovative .
@@J1c80 I would say the magnetic lock feature removes the one part that is the weak link in an Axis lock. That is if it is implemented correctly.

Pretty slick… I thought that lock style was a Benchmade patent but I bet they get around that by using the magnet instead of a spring.

This knife is going to sell like crazy, the sounds alone are awesome. It's out of my price range but no denying the design is done masterfully. No doubt the guy who designed it has some great ideas on how a knife should operate. Would like to see the plastic arm maybe done in a metal like titanium for longevity but that's the only change I could see wanting on this knife. As far as where the choil hits the plastic i think the plastic rides along the outside of the choil when opening but it would take a crapton of sharpenings before you would see any need to increase the choil area. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

That detent & reverse assist is a magnet near the butt of the handle sucking the blade in. So, no bouncing back out.
I'm actually a little nervous I won't be able to get one now. Not a whole lot of people were talking about seriously getting one. Now, in the last week before they launch, you & Shabazz both did a video. Not to mention Metal Complex's videos. Now I'm seeing all sorts of people saying they're definitely getting one. Been saving for months. I better f***ing get one.

Whew, the acoustics on that thing. Drops shut too, no springs to replace. Plastic part could be an issue but it they sell replacements for cheap, should have decent sales id think.
Bit too futuristic looking for me, but I do love seeing zombie hunter green on quality knives, lol.

I look forward to hearing about the test and use results. I have some skepticism about the green plastic part. However, I am sure that you will find a way to address those issues. In particular: will that part open in the pocket much or at all?
The green G10 part is held in with magnets. It won't be open in the pocket.
Am I strange that I would want this as a steampunk kind of design with dark wood scales and brass hardware...? I like the juxtaposition of nonferrous materials with a hidden magnetic lock.

Magnets loose their power overtime but can be remagnatised how easy that will be is another thing
The Factor uses neodymium magnets (the world's strongest rare earth magnets) that only lose 1% of their strength every 10 years and hold power for 100+ years... That being said, I basically have two types of magnetic knives - what I call RM knives, and FM knives (FM = fixed magnet and RM = removable magnet)... I must admit to being highly perplexed by the decision to go with plastic for the green component. I would've assumed that would be something we would only even start to see as this innovative design trickled down to more budget friendly knives, and even then I wouldn't have been surprised if all but the cheapest, mass produced knives stayed away from using plastic for such a crucial component to the functionality of the design. Then again, I'm by no means an expert and would really appreciate it if someone with a little more insight could provide an explanation regarding the issue. Despite my confusion regarding the choice to go with plastic, I will still be dreaming about owning this knife one day.
