- Today, we're going to take a look at one of the most unique knives I've ever had on the channel, which also happens to be excellent: the WinterBlade Factor.

Just the sound the knife makes opening it makes me want to buy one.
same. and i'd find every excuse to use that **ting**
Same here lol - they had me at ting !
The opening sound reminds me a lot of a Zippo (which is a good thing in my book!)
😂You literally took the words out of my mouth.
Knife sounds are important too
I've abandoned any notion that knives are mainly tools in my life. They're gadgets. Toys that bring out the same enthusiasm as things you would get as a child that happen to also be useful tools. This is a great example of that. It's gadgety. It is fidget friendly. It's pure fun and I enjoy that side of the knife world.
Oh, heck. I know some folks use knives like this. Me? If I ever get one it’s solely for the fidget. I’ll still be EDCing my blackwash Kershaw Leek because it can get scuffed up and who’d know. LOL.
They’re accessories for men. Tactical jewelry if you will.
I’m the same. I have so many tool knives, I’m after special ones now. I’m into that part of my “knife journey” . Even my last knife review, the knife is so artsy and not really a good tool knife but i love it.
This would be a brilliant box cutter. I feel you though. Collecting is so satisfying. Idk why? Just the feeling of a new piece is special.
A pocket knife is an essential tool. Mainly used to cut open boxes of new pocket knives
A few months ago I decided I needed a pocket knife. You know, the kind my grandpa carried. Slip joint, mother of pearl handle, hopefully under $30. I stumbled on one of these knife review videos and after watching you guys fidget with flippers and thumb stubs and button locks and etc. I caught the bug. Now I’m lusting after a $375 work of art/genius. So thanks for that. 🥴
Welcome. Stay a while !
PS don’t watch my shorts on YT… they will show you how few the rabbit hole can take you, and it will terrify you in the beginning. Later, you will learn to love them more than what you paid, and know where to sell them for what you paid, while being fair. Enjoy the hobby - it’s fun and there are some great guys around these rooms.
Yup, we all know the feeling. Don't be too surprised if it becomes an obsession. Welcome to the club.
what ever you do, dont watch watch review videos.
@@AhmadRiyal LOL. Too late.
THE ACOUSTICS. Sounds like a little baby M1 Garand! I Love it!
That's a good reference.
Damn straight, PING!
Garand was my first thought as well
You are so right :)
NAILED IT!
I love the sound it makes when you flip the blade out
It will be the most expensive knife I have ever bought. I have been saving money for a few months now, for the sole purpose of getting a WinterbladeCo FACTOR. I love this knife. The sound, the friggin *magnets,* I love everything about it. It shall be mine.
Queue the evil laughter.
I am so pumped for this! Most intriguing knife in a long time. Great video, Nick!
This is just a brilliant piece of creative engineering. This is definitely on my “must have” list.
If you've held out, pre order a batch 3!
@@Lemon_Sage9999 I didn’t hold out. I got my B2 a few months ago.
@@mr.b73 heck yeah borther I just seriously cannot wait for mine to
Great knife video! I'm going to comment about something not about the knife: your self awareness is what I respect most about you. You know and understand both your own biases and privileges. Came for the knife disassembly, stayed for the commentary.
Such a cool opening mechanism, I love innovations like this! I wouldn't be able to stop opening and closing it.
Nicolás... brilliant design, brilliant review. Hope I'm able to catch one, I'm really excited about the whole concept since you first featured them sometime ago. Bravo 👏
Some of your most emotive commentary in a while... it felt like less of a review than a "Oh my God, come check out what I have here!"
I have a hard & fast rule about money for knives, but this thing is so nutty and new and cool (magnets!) and it has that insane "TING!" when you deploy it that I'm seriously contemplating getting in deep trouble with my wallet...
Nice review, Nick!
It caused my pacemaker to fail but it's so cool!
Great to see you doing reviews. You will always be the best.
WOWZERS!!! Just freakin’ cool all around!! Especially the acoustics!! I hope this is at Blade Show!! Thanks Nick!!
its seldom i get so excited about a knife recently. and this gives me that feeling again
This is the first knife I’ve seen in a while that is innovative but not so far out there to be gimmicky. I haven’t added to my collection in about a year but this one really does it for me.
That's got a very satisfying sound. Looks like a cool knife
So cool, the sound is what really sells it for me. I hope they someday come out with the same design with cheaper materials, maybe G-10 scales and S30V. I think that would bring it to a better price point for a lot of people who love the design but not the cost. Similar idea with the CRKT Provoke, after changing out some of the materials to make a substantially cheaper version, its unique design was way more accessible for a lot of people. Just gotta make sure they never lose that sound!
But hey if they cost isn’t a problem then this seems like an awesome collection piece. Thanks for the vid!
Terrific review. Many thanks. Fantastic hnife for sure!👍👍👍🥳
You are the most entertaining and informative EDC type UA-cam account on this site.
Yes, I will be purchasing one of these quirky gorgeous knives. I love that TING.
That's a very interesting blade design, I think it would look awesome all blacked out with the tritium bar and maybe tritium in the pivot. Thanks for the video Nick!
Awesome unique design! Hats off to Winterblade!
A great, exciting review of a very cool new knife. Good one Nick👍
I can't afford one right now, but am very interested to see where the knife world will go with these new tech concepts. One can only patent so much. I hope he reaps ample rewards for all of his creative work.
It maybe the magnets but I'm feeling the pull towards that knife! Nick you're a gem 💎 thanks!
🤣
@Nick Thank you for another great review - really enjoyed this one! One question... would you prefer the knife without the trigger mechanism? Do you plan to use that CF insert/filler?
That sound is awesome, reminds me of anime swords. It also has a somewhat of a western boot spur sound too! I love it and want one!!
That's cool. Love the magnets.
Now this knife is interesting. It's the first knife I've seen in about 2 years that I'm dying to have.
I love the unique style of this knife!!! Sadly the work I do the magnet would be a problem due to metal shards but outstanding🦉 work!
This is seriously cool, but will wait in the hope a smaller version is released. That sound is awesome!
Great video as always. My brother is getting married. May get him this as a present with a tactile turn. Really wanted to get him a watch but this seems better
The deploy bar can flip back out of the knife. Is this good? You can use it as a belt cutter? Or bad, it exposes the blade or can be broken off. Or ugly? Seems like eventually he could turn it into a useful feature but currently a question mark. Love the noise when deployed
Price is fine. Cool knife. Would love to pick one up..... Ugh, just Preordered from batch 2.... Something to look forward to next year!
Cool idea and I love the use of magnets...but wow that handle shape looks horrific in the hand comfort category
I want to add one to my collection just for the sound. That’s such a satisfying noise
It’s like a mad scientist knife. . . That’s something I want to support
Good job 2 winterblade for innovation and originality in a new design thanks nick
That’s cool but I have concerns about the longevity of those little magnets, when you slide metal over those little magnets you eventually wear though the silver coating. Do you know if they can easily be replaced?
I love that "ting" noise!
Ooooh that “ping”. Love it
It sounds AMAZING!
Are the magnets stronger enough to stick it to the fridge?
The Factor doesn't stick to fridges. Fridges stick to the Factor...
Looks really exciting.
Cant wait for this preorder
if I carry my cell phone in on pocket and the knife in the other; are the magnets strong enough to interfere with the cell?
Appreciate your comments at 15:10, it's an important consideration for a lot of folks
Hey Nick, at first glance I thought, "WOW, cool, magnets!" But, I do remember your criticisms of the Kizer Sheepdog (both mini and regular), mainly the pocket volume of a sheepsfoot style pocket knife. Has your opinion changed?. Also Kizer has released another version without the "pocket pecker" With thumb hole opening and no flipper tab to get in the way of the blade, would you consider taking another look at the Sheepdogs?
Holy hell thankyou for explainig it's magic. i watched all of MC's videos on it and i don't ever remember seeing that. (full disclosure he may have shown it, and I'm just dumb)
That sound is amazing
I‘m in love with this knife.
Do you know if there will be a lower cost version of this knife?
All my knifes are user’s. But on this price point I think I would start thinking of using this knife for cutting this or that.
Like to hear.
Greets from GER.
Would love to get one of these
I love it! I don't usually buy knives over 200 bucks but this will be hard to pass even at 375. If it was like 10% bigger I doubt I would be able to resist even at 400.
why is this unlisted? I haven't watch the video fully
Minnesota represent!!
That ping sound got a smile out of me as soon as I heard it
I think the resonance is one of the best parts. I have bought a tack hammer just because it rings like a bell.
I’ve learned from carrying an Olight at work that magnets and metal dust/filings don’t play well together.I still want one lol. The sound it makes when deployed is reminiscent of 70s king fu flicks😉
The way that it flicks open is just like the PING sound of A Garand Rifle..!✌️❤️🇵🇭
I want one even if I'd be afraid to carry it in case it gets thought of as a switchblade. Would be a fun at home knife.
I never thought about the whole “automatic knife” thing. It never occurred to me that this could be considered automatic, but now that you mention it, it is most definitely not fully manual. Interesting to think about.
It very much depends on how your local law is written. Since you are imparting the mechanical force necessary to open the blade via a flipper tab instead of the spring assist of a normal assisted knife it is very possible that this would not be considered an automatic in many jurisdictions. Just to be clear the magnets are holding the blade in place and you are overcoming that hold force via the flipper tab, the magnets are not assisting in the opening of the blade at all. Again talk to a lawyer if you have any questions or concerns about carrying it.
I find this knife... simply irresistable!
I absolutely love the style and unique mechanism on this knife, but as a mechanic who works in a shop, and having experience with magnets on pens and flashlights, they tend to attract every single miniscule atomized piece of metal or shaving that is bound to be present in any shop lol and having all those metal particles and shavings being attracted and stuck to magnets upon which the action and mechanism depend is the part that really worries me. it can be a pain in the butt to clean that metal off of magnetized areas that are out in the open, let alone between the knife scales or the parts that actuate/disengage the blade. I just see an awful lot of disassembly and cleaning being required for this knife to operate smoothly, specially for any blue collar type workers who may be frequently exposed to metal particles and shavings or any shop environment. tho I'm still seriously tempted to try and get one and just resolve it to only night/weekend carry cause man this knife is so cool. I love the idea of operating by magnetism and developing a locking mechanism that works as such, but kmow how much of a double edged sword that can really be
I wish the blade was longer.
Other than that, kudos for the innovation. I think the folding knife market desperately needs some more of it.
I agree, with today’s technology and engineering, there should be a lot more stuff like this in the knife world. The popularity of the Demko shark lock is huge, and it’s not even that complex of a design, but it was just a little different and innovative. I hope this is the start of more knife innovations to come
I wonder if it had titanium scales it would FEEL a little lighter? Maybe carbon fiber?
It looks like the posts that help center the blade are marking the blade?! Am I wrong? Noticeably on the show side.
The sound of that action is the stuff of movies!
How satisfying is the sound when that knife opens....
That 'ting' is a perfect A. I want to see an orchestra tune their instruments to its glorious sound. Lol!
this is wild , I love it.
I caught that farther/further. Good save 👍
Beautiful knife, beautiful review but couldn't take this anywhere with iron dust like a workshop.
What size glow sticks does it take?
Bryan winters is the mad scientist of the knife world!!!! He's killing it
Does the black backspacer keep from moving? I’m worried the blade would be exposed, if the backspacer / flipper tab comes up, or flips open in the pocket. Have you ever accidentally exposed the blade, nick? I like the idea but would want to be able to carry this one as a production/user knife. I like this idea and I like different. I feel it has t been addressed - everyone mentions the options of spacers, and I’ve only just learned that it keeps from letting the blade deploy. But do they both rotate around like a lever, exposing the edge, while closed? Thanks !
From everything I've seen the blade cannot go past the point where it closes. And to my knowledge blades should not touch back spacers. They are there to keep stuff out like fingers and dirt. The maker has a disassembly video where you can see the exact mechanism.
Thanks. What I’m asking is unclear, sorry - the backspacer / flipping mechanism that seems to rotate. I literally saw him open the darn thing and let it rotate the OPPOSITE way of the flipping path (if that makes any sense). Another way to say this is like this - if I were to pull the flipper tab / backspacer, would it rotate in a way that it would allow me to expose my blade edge when closed? Sorry to be unclear and I’ll watch the video. I’ve seen it rotating, but no one has been able to tell me if it could open or rotate in pocket. Thanks for taking any time to check out the comment, or to reply ! I like this knife a lot. I love the innovation.
@@busterbeast999 at 2:18 he rotates it out and I can actually see it better now that my small fingers would definitely be able to get in there. I might pass and wait for one that I would also be able to carry.
I’ve been waiting for this for 2 years but i lost too much money from crypto this year. Damn hilarious. I’m on a self imposed EDC embargo for the rest of the year.
But i will buy this next year. I really like this designer. He’s always testing things and innovating. One of my favorite if not favorite designer by engineering aspect.
The sound alone is worth the price of admission.
Great review as always Nick/
Edit:forget how good a reviewer you are. You did pick up on some cons that i would have missed. Yeah i wonder about the legal thing although i would that not stop me. Haha. I think a pencil could help with lock stick
Stop gambling and getting suckered, keep your money.
Looks good 👍
Wicked cool knife.
The blade rubs on one of the magnets ?
What size of tritium can you put in it?
where did you get that glowing tube?
I'm pretty sure *Magnetic Ninja* will be my next youtube pseudonym.
I love great fidget knives. I wish I could test it out before dropping $400 for whenever these are available again, but don’t think there’s any way I can do that. I’ll still be very tempted when these are available again though
So dam excited for this, do have one question does the magnets in the knife have you concerned about magnetic exposure to your mechanical watches? And it's too late for me I did get into watches..... save yourself
Probably not...however mini SSD HD T6 drives may also be erased...any Hard drive might
Man I think I'm spending $375. That "ting" sound alone is worth it.
Nick- do you worry about the magnet messing with the movement on your automatic watches?
Nice job Nick
Do you think that when sharpening this blade you could get steel dust and filings stuck to the various magnets??
Great thought!
the Factor will look great in my collection and I want to buy everything he is selling. i bet he’s going to do something with D Rocket which I am already salivating for. i saw a maintenance video on the factor that said oil can cause lock stick because of the magnets.
Yes very true, as does any type of aggressive metal polish, dipping magnets in Tarn X ate away the outer layers of nickel in a $300 "mod" (e-cig) the "Mutant" with 26650 Li-ion batteries
Also dropping or extreme "cold" is not recommended
Nickel FYI is allowed w steel to create great edge hardness however it's very brittle as a result...
They will shatter if trying to replace or remove them and these aren't Home Depot $8 for #20 pkg...these are "true" Neo magnets
Amazing blade design, soooo hard to get!
Dang you got 4 of these???? I can't even get 1 and you got 4!!! You are incredibly lucky man.
If you had 150k followers and were one of the biggest leaders of the herd, you'd have 4 too.
Can't find much good to say about this knife, but the maker is a marketing genius.
May 24th I'm getting one of the batch 3's
Never thought I’d come across a pocket knife with a “glow stick option” haha. I could listen to that deployment sound all day.
I want one. Just for the sound it makes :)
Nick used the word fire 🔥 must be good 👍 thanks nick!!!
magnets? How do they work?
That's a beautiful knife.
I just got mine delivered yeserday. I love it, and yes.. I am a magnetic ninja.
Were can I get one
I'm not a little knife guy, I like them large. BUT I LUST FOR THIS ONE!
