Truffles!! You're thinking of Aurora knife and Tool. Truffles
Yes exactly thank you
Got you bro! I got 2 of them incoming. I think you can still get one but it's extremely limited! It's only what wasn't spoken for on the kickstarter, the remainder to fill the order. If anyone is interested they should definitely act fast. Super cool knife incredible people behind it. Michael & Melody are doing it the way it should be done.
@@NeevesKnives Hey man, just wanted to let you know the button compression lock has been done by Smock knives for quite some time already. Spyderco even did a production version of that knife, so not sure how unique the Vosteed RSKaos is.
@@xKaidoh yeah i know but spyderco was the only one that could do a compression lock because of a patent, the patent is up now so others can use it so they are the first company aside from spyderco to ever use that locking system
Thank you. Straight to the content, no nonsense, no ads. Perfection. It is appreciated
Love The Vosteed RSKaos! A blacked out one with blue pivot collars would be awesome!
@Neevesknives Hi Jerad. You mentioned detent tuning videos. I have a Kansept Reverie and the liner lock is quite stiff to disengage. Do you know of any way to ease that? Thanks!
That Winter Blades Severn is an awesome looking knife!
Love the rook. Thanks Jared
The Truffles from Aurora Knife Co. is the other pivot/button lock like Defcon's
👍
Cool stuff, Jerad. Thanks
On the RS Kaos, if you like it check out the Bastards knives utopia. Very similar locking style, and stunning.
Gun-toting liberal here ;) I really like your knife content. You are my go-to source while I'm learning to sharpen. I watch almost every video, especially dig the members content.
Great video Jerad thanks
Awesome set of knives, Jerad!
Very well done video Jared!!!!!
Bang ! Dang bro , that last knife sounds excellent .
Great list
I really appreciate videos like this which bring attention to unusual knives. I am a very picky buyer, and I try to keep abreast of new releases as much as possible, but it is so easy to lose unique designs among the sea of "an knife" shaped knives. I have a damascus solstice and a spydiechef, and I am definitely getting the mcbee next, so i have a definite propensity towards the unusual.
I really like the profile of the vision fg but I would really prefer it as a fixed blade. Anybody know of a fixed blade with that exact blade profile?
The beyond edc wharning button i believe is the one you forgot with the piVot style lock
Great Video as Usual Jerad 🇺🇸👊🏼
How do you tune detent? My rendition street is awful
Literally the SpyderCo Smock. That RS Chaos
That Piratech Kraken is on point....Kinda reminds me of a Sebenza.
Knife Center has an Exclusive Vision FG with S35VN & carbon fiber scales.
@Neevesknives do you have your own designed knife? If not what company would you choose in a dream world to go with?
Truffles is the other knife utilizing the lock on the fulcrum....also the fulcrum is available through Atlantic knife for 144 which is a steal
Defcon looks cool.
Neeves I am looking for a knife under 350$ I want classy looking with all 3 deployment options what would you go for to get a classy looking knife in this price point, I like titanium with gold or blue accents I see the we roxi 3 but seems steep for a older model or is it a deal for the materials. I would think a lot of people mite be after a knife with all three early in their collection like me any help is appreciated. Thanks Mathew
The one you couldn’t remember was Truffles! Aurora knife co. Man I wanted one of those soooo damn bad.
If i remember correctly Doesn't the spyderco smock have a similar lock to the rskaos?
I think you're thinking of the roundhouse lock, i think the knife is called Truffles.
CRKT had a button pivot as well, but that's all I have seen so far. I am honestly confused as to why more companies aren't doing it. Love the concept!
The Deadbolt I think they call it. Was it assisted too though? I remember seeing it at Blade Show but can’t remember and I’m too lazy to check.. which makes me disappointed in myself.. but again.. too lazy to do anything about it.. truly a terrible vicious cycle..
BANG‼️
Pivot button lock --- Aurora Knives Truffles --- kickstarter campaign
Vosteed is working on the Anchor Lock for next year. This is also a pivot based button lock
You said the Vosteed was the first lock of its type, what makes it that different than the Smock customs and Spyderco Smock?
The superlock was designed circa 2018 if I was not mistaken, either it was designed in 2018 or he put the design into public domain in 2018, and shark lock was kinda inspired by the superlock, with few changes in between, so is the atlas lock
Yes, it's crazy because I like most people, believed it was based on the shark lock. I did a video on it as well and someone educated me in the comments!
I saw that he is coming up with another design on Instagram I think it said he was deciding if he was going with Civivi, We or some other OEM. Probably Civivi but it looked awesome
Fulcrum uses the Roundhouse lock (factory holds the pattent) seen on the Truffles.
Engage is not for beating, the tip breaks off. Common problem with clip points. I'll typically go drop point or wharncliffe.
Hey Gared! Merry Christmas bro
20:26 'Pan-Chee-Ko' I wait for the day he finally sees the N in PancheNko...
Good knives for clicking competitions.
They are not suitable for normal use.
Cold Steel with TriAdLock or Atlas Lock is available for use.
Truffles is one of the originals
I've had the vision fg for a couple months now and I wish that the lock wasn't so hard on the finger to depress- it leaves a big dent in the finger and hurts after fidgeting with the knife, and the "detent" is quite weak, to the point that you can deploy the knife by simply using strong downward momentum, which would usually be a big issue to many people. Not sure if it's that weak on all of them or if I just got a weak one, because it's something that I haven't heard anyone else mentioned in reviews. It's a cool knife, but if they made the lock easier on the finger and strengthened up the detent, it'd be amazing imo
Influencer's, not reviewer's.
I just checked mine and it will do the same thing. It seems like the retention on the detent is weak. I haven't checked my shark lock knives yet but they're next. I've seen this phenomenon on most of the crossbar lock knives I have too.
@@AverageGearReview I was really surprised how weak it was!! Thanks for checking yours- I was curious if mine was an anomaly. Happy holidays!!
I just tried flicking it open, no thumb stud. It’s an odd, to me, flick motion that I probably would have never tried. As far as closing it I wore out both of my index finger tips initially. Now I use my index fingerNAIL and rotate my finger knuckle to lay on the back of the blade and now I can close it really fast with no fingerTIP PRESSURE. So now I have a gravity kind of flick opening method and a finger contortion closing technique. Figetastic!
Man i want a severn. ❤
yup this is what im talking about ...this video is just MMMMWAH
Isn’t the lock on #5 exactly what the Spyderco smock uses?
pretty much, but this was the first time doing it in titanium and from another company besides spyderco because the patent is up
I picked up a Defcon Fulcrum a few months back (I like weird mechanics in my folders). I love the locking mechanism, but, at least on mine, the front flipper is useless. The amount of force needed to pop the detent is just too much. My finger slides over the front flipper without opening the knife. I've practiced with it good bit and the best I can do is a partial opening with the thumb. If it where just a bit larger, or maybe not as rounded, so I could get a better grip, it would work, but it's not, and it doesn't. Rear flipper works fine though, so it's completely functional. Just wish it worked on the front as well, as it is, it just looks weird with the little useless tab sticking out. Still a good knife, but not great.
10:00 that knife and its prior versions are not worth around 400. Its a joke. No one really wants sub optimal low value m390, 20cv, China Damascus or 62max rc magnacut for 400. Unless they have mental illness.
Do the top ten knives for the UK next! 😂
Well The Titano is massive but its not Debt Collector massive that Trouble Blades made back in the days :P
Titano is $550.00 if only I could afford that crazy knife...😊
Bet you it was the aurora truffles
In that Vision, does the lockbar pop out? The WE version I had prior had that feature and I hated it. It would literally slip out 25% of the time. I asked WE about it and they were like, "Yeah it's supposed to do that." Wtf
no they put a stop pin in the way on the civivi version so it cant pop out
What knife is number 8? Brand And name?
Red mouse cursor at 16:48 LOL
They claim that Titanium ceramic silver mix is 5x’s more edge retention at 40HRC than traditional steel at 63HRC. I’d love to know what steel they base that claim on.
I got scared when I clicked on this because right when I clicked on it he went number 10 right away
Truffles is the knife your forgetting
You don't need to worry about sharpening it, as all people do is flip it open and close for hours! Hey buddy ask how does that knife cut, I don't know but here watch how fast i cN FLIP IT OPEN!
Whatever happened to the ravenlock knife? I know you get a lot of comments. I've asked you a couple times. It had nice milling lines on the blade. It was interesting It was like a ratchet system Almost it had loose bearings I love that knife! It is so beautiful
I too wonder about this knife. I sent a email via his website to ask when they will become available becuase his website said he hoped to do more by the end of 2023. Never got a response. But I noticed shortly after he removed the "more by end of 2023" part from his website. :/
Are you sure you know which one I'm talking about? He showed it on his channel probably 2 years ago
@@EugeneSmedlund he put it in a video of strangest knives in his collection a few months back. Ravenlock is pretty unique. The one that can lock in any position.
I know the video ....... I want to know where I can get the knife or if I can even get one
The Truffle?
Are you giving any of these kniges away? I cant afford any
I like the Vargo, just not for $225.
6:45 microtech, mushy action, failing locks, 57 to 59rc with horrible sharpening and low edge retention. Why do people like it? The brand image or the look? They don't care about the facts, they care about the status?
Let's not forget the drama and suing everyone and so much more shady stuff that Tony does.
Would you happen to know the real hrc on their newest gen OTF's?
@@HarryBallsich57 to 59 is the range for all of their m390.
@@HarryBallsichEDCandLace:
Out of the stitch and msi I had and sold the following day because of both having HRCs in the 58s and sharpening about 50 of them in the last 3 months... they are SOFT, it's soft enough that it is noticeably gummy on the stones. Plus the action on both of them is mushy as hell. I received both of mine in the same day, had them poked later that day and sold the next morning lol. If you buy a knife to use and expect serviceable edge retention then you will not be happy.
@@tacticalcenter8658 good to know. I'm searching for my first OTF in 2024 and thought there newest gen looked good. But that HRC sounds really bad. Will avoid.
If a knife maker "Recalled" their products from a safety issue I would commend them for it. If it wasn't necessary then I understand but I get the magnitude of a recall.
I don't think any have done a recall. And microtech wouldn't do anything like that. They'd play it off like it was not a problem.
Don’t sharpen that titanium blade, it’s highly flammable when grinding on machining!
I am sexually attracted to the acoustics of the Rook.. now I kinda get how loose screw people form romantic “relationships” with inanimate objects.
With the great American knife makers around, no need to buy Chinese, but it is a hard habit to break.
Recall? I highly doubt civivi would do a recall unless safety issues. Maybe discount your next purchase but I doubt China sending any $ back to United States
He was talking about Microtech msi. Not civivi
Wouldn't a lock failing be a safety issue?
@@johnmoore6633 zt has had locking failures for most of their models and they have never once did a recall. They still fail even today.
You're a dummy but nice try
lol as stated he was talking about microtech 😂
Ram Lok sucks bad.
