As a retired Industrial Design Engineer I commend you on your design! You addressed the issues intelligently and improved the concept dramatically. If available for purchase at an affordable price, I would definitely be interested in acquiring one!
Joerg, I’d love to see you take a stab at an Assassin’s Creed style hidden blade. You clearly have a knack for the mechanical properties and craftsmanship! Many people have done similar designs from plastic or aluminum but no one has nailed an accurate replica using quality materials.
I love it it looks awesome. I would buy one of these for two reasons one its a cool conversation piece. Second it is compact but has a very functional blade. 100% behind you on this project.
I admire your engineering ingenuity! When man invents petty rules, another man will find a way around them. Wishing you continued success and good cheer!
I have one of the silver taiwan pieces collected as a young teen from an archery shop. Really interesting piece and your solution of straightening the action with a pin in a blade fuller (groove) is inspired.
I would have put gear teeth into the two outer sections to keep the blade from touching the sides. The gear would make sure that both sides open and close at the same rate, and the fact they are meshed, would also keep the pivot points apart from each other to assist with deployment/retraction. A slightly longer handle would also allow the addition of a tang inside the hilt to help with stability. An additional set of gear sections at the tang would go a long way in helping with that.
I have been trying to think of ways to make a folding knife with a great blade/handle ratio FOR MONTHS. You made the perfect design, absolutely amazing!!
They sold the cheap ones all through the nineties in the US at one point s&w made one similar in mechanics called the power glide. They were smooth enough to operate one handed
to solve the possible issue of the exposed blade edge while it is closed, you could put a chisel grind on it. That way the edge rests directly on the frame while closed. There are other knives that have an exposed blade and use the chisel grind like that.
Me and my dad found one of those taiwanese pantographics somewhere a while back, and I've been hunting for a more usable one ever since. I absolutely would love to buy one when they're available
Why bother. I don't have the money and I couldn't afford to use that money to buy something like this even if I did. And with so few being made it'll be impossible to get one. Things like this are made for and provided to the rich. Not for people like me that chooses eating over owning something I'd love to own. It's an awesome knife Mr. Sprave. It's a work of Art. And manufactured by Boker, wow! I love their work. They create quality. Anyhow thank you for sharing it at least here for us to see. It's appreciated.
I mean I know it is an ad. But its like the best ad ever and trumps any form of entertainment for that matter. Legend ! I feel like I learn something everytime. Your insight and articulation is legendary and its only matched by your inventiveness.
I bought your RX COBRA repeater crossbow package that included the upgrade unit that holds 7 bolts 2 years ago. And I just really love it. I also bought an extra 10 pack of the blue bolts. Also I recently bought 2 three packs of your red arrow head bolts. And I just love the whole package. And now with this new item, you just keep moving the innovative bar so much higher. Kudos to you and your creative team. I look forward to seeing what else you come up with. Thx and you ROCK! 🤘😎👍👀
It's a very intriguing design. Very cleverly engineered, my only potential critique would be the handle scales. Would a more rounded option be available, or are they easily removable?
I can see myself clamping down on my fingers in that guillotine handle! But I still want it! Just to play with. And I would try to make new handles myself, carved from a hard wood, so I wouldn’t hurt the originals.
@@SperberMeister IMO the materials and shape are perfect, but the handle just looks uncomfortably oversize. Maybe it's just me but the stag grips look about a quarter inch thick on each side, on top of an already very beefy steel frame. That said, video perspective and proportions can be deceiving and we won't really know until we get measurements and/or a side by side comparison with some other common knife to estimate the relative scale.
that looks like a fantastic design! it's out of my price range for now, but one of these days when i'm rich and famous! hahaha. gorgeous looking, and such a sturdy looking design. fantastic.
I dunno, I love the stag on there (and it's especially fitting as the classic material for those hunting knives/short swords since at least the late Medieval period). That said, is it just me or does the handle on this look oversized to the point of being awkward and uncomfortably wide? Maybe it's just the video perspective, but the scales look about 1/4" thick per side, on top of an already very beefy frame.
That was my thought as well, but I believe being able to do that could make it way more expensive. Keep in mind that Deer stag is a very particular kind of thing. Inside the antler is a softer core called the pith, so you can think of the antler as hollow. For large stag handles like this it's harder to find pieces that can be thinned down. You want to do most of your thinning on the backside and a little bevel/ rounding on the edges at most, this means you need a piece with walls ( if you carved out all the pith ) that are thick enough so you can have good sized handle scales that aren't too thin. Basically if it's not a thick enough piece to really be shaped your only options are to leave it too fat or take material off both sides which can take all the bark / character off of it. This is the affordable way to have stag handles that are attractive looking, your options at an affordable price are looks or comfort sometimes.
You've done it once again brother, another great thought out design. I recently purchased your AR Stinger and Saxon Bolts Love it. Respect and Blessings from 🇺🇲💪🏾💪🏾
Cool design! I'd like to see some iterations before I'd snag it. But the concept always appealed to me. Gives you a folding knife with a longer blade than handle, and yet still retains some ease of carry versus a sheath
Wow...that knife is really a good idea. I like it Jorge. It would be a great knife to put in a backpack and know nothing will get ruined because of it. I like the blade length you have too. I would rather it have only one side be sharp though and the other edge be solid width.
The shown dagger is modern, but the handle scales, assumingly deer antlers, try to keep centuries old german tradition of antler handles on hunting knifes.
The locking mechanism is vastly better than the original but a thumb slide spring hook in one side of the lower grip would be easy(ish) and be less damageable.
It will be interesting to see you come up with a more modern design of the Fallshirmjager gravity Knife. Im still going to keep my original though. Like the content.

Overall great execution, but I would recommend sculpting the handle scales to be more rounded and meet up more with the metal parts for it to be more ergonomic/comfortable to hold onto.
In order to keep the blade away from the edges during the opening, you could add a center rail for the fuller/groove to follow, keeping the blade centered.
