i have a 2 seater manco silver fox with a predator 212 stage 1 performance kit and a bigger jetted carb. on 18 inch street tires got it up to 37 and it was still climbing kinda quick on the GPS speedo lol. Thanks for the video My gas pedal has full range of motion on the carb for my linkage setup. i just had to add a zip tied and stronger return springs and it working fantastic!!!
Thank you you actually gave me a new idea on running my linkage and what else i could use i just did a swap on my mini bike its a MMB80 and I just put the Preditor 6.5 hp 212cc engine on it so again thanks for the help sir
This is a great idea after governor removal.. removing the throttle to governor rod and spring don't change the governor inside the crank case..it is still being governored by the plastic gear located in the engine..but this does increase rpms at a quicker rate.. so acceleration is increased, but does nothing for top end... If you are going to invest into a stage 2 kit or greater than I would recommend the governor removal, but I won't do it with less or stock.. the governor gear inside the housing is plastic and will surely break or melt from higher temps and possibly jam up your cam and cause you to blow your engine.. build it up before jumping the gun..
Thank you. I removed my governor and was stuck as to how my throttle was to be hooked up. This video need to be at the end of "How to remove a governor " video.
Ok so is it safe to simply disconnect the governor rather than take it out completely from the engine? Safe as in keeping the gear and arm in with necessary billet parts inside too.
do u realize that if u disconnect those springs and leave the governor assembly in the motor the weights in the govener will explode from running at high rpms that's why we remove them
keith, well now i know why i broke my collar bone two days ago. i literally just got started into mini bikes last week so i don't know too much. here my mess up i only used one coat wire to carb slot to throttle that's it.. so when i started motor and turned choke off my bike took off and i have no kill switch so i wrecked. and handle bar went right in my collar bone and broke my collar bone. i tried to bypass the governor. i took the main thick rod from governor to carb off and the return spring from governor to throttle off. all i did was made one rod to carb from throttle short rod and nothing else so doesthat explain why my bike took off? cause i didn't make a rod for throttle to governor for a return? it seems now that it is obvious why my bike took off cause i had no hook up to control governor to throttle?
hi I have a 5hp I/c brigs and Stratton engine, trying to put it on a go kart bur having trouble with the throttle linkage could u give some advice or a video, thanks.
With the rod disconnected from governor lever and doing this setup, does the governor HAVE to be removed? I'm a DIY'er trying to learn so I'd appreciate the advise. Thanks
No it does not have to be removed because with the rod removed from the governor lever and carb you have just eliminated it's ability to limit engine speed. It can no longer manipulate the throttle. If done this way the governor lever will need to be held in a similar position with a spring so the lever in the engine will not hit the crankshaft. Some say that removing the gear is necessary because the gear is made of plastic might grenade at high RPM. This guy took the crankshaft out for some reason. He could have just pryed the steel governor drive gear off of the crankshaft and been done with it. There would have been no need to mess with the plastic driven gear.
Awesome video boss ! So after you remove all springs from the governor , and hook the little link up on either both of the sides of the throttle arm , the governor shouldn't activate at all ? And will the stock plastic fly wheel have more of a chance of exploding due to over reving ? Should I get an aluminum flywheel ? Thanks , and sorry for all the questions haha .
The two springs and the rod ARE the governor linkage. When you disconnect them, you disconnect the governor. So then you connect the throttle cable end (the cable from the handlebar twist grip to the engine), using the linkage plate that came with the engine and the homemade rod, to the carburetor. OK, so the plastic part of the flywheel is the fin or fan and it's not your concern. The heavy iron disk underneath it IS the flywheel and it will crack and break apart (explode) at rpm's over 3600, so buy a billet aluminum flywheel, they are good to 12000 rpm's. Hope that clears thing up for ya
Oh ok man ! Gotcha !! I always thought the plastic fins would explode ! Haha , the bilet flywheels are like 100 bucks , but I'm sure it's worth it . Thanks Keith !! I appreciate it man .
This video is about Throttle Linkage, not governors. In the description, I have included links to video's that explain how to "correctly" remove a governor (wheel/arm) and how to correctly plug the holes. Also, I've made clear that disconnecting your governor makes your engine dangerous. As I said, "Over revving will destroy your engine". That's why they put governors in.
I ordered my throttle from omb warehouse, it fits behind the gas tank and doesn't have the plate and junk cluttering up the engine. ill make a video along with predator build In a few days
Looking to find the part # for the throttle arm he references at 04:30. Can anyone help? The one we have where the screw limits how much it moves has started to bend back and wanted to get it replaced.
please help...bought a predator 212 engine for go kart. when you start it, it us already at full throttle. the adjustment screw on carb only speeds it up. did i just get a bad 1? have you heard of this problem? than you
+Hardball Hall Yes water can damage iether the internals of the siwtch if it gets in side and crodes the parts it also can happen as over time parts ware down and just dont work any more. but be sure to check youw wires going to the switch and stuff as well because a simple faulty ground can also cause issues I hope this was helpful for you
Well, I do know where you can find out. Go to "xxx oldminibikes xxx/forum". They can help you, but you'll have to be specific about what you did and pictures always help. Trust me, we'll get it running.

the throttle arm comes pre locked from the factory..you have to simply loosen the nut so the arm moves freely, the spring should return the arm to position once loosened just enough.

I stopped your video at 4:31 and made this piece using the old con rod from governor...took about a minute...works great....

the small return spring you where talking about where could I find on of them my engine did not come with it
Just what I needed when I needed it on my 212 conversion. THANKS
Great video explaining how to hook up your throttle assembly for mini bike and go cart.

I like your vids Keith, I did this on my predator after watching. So simple and effective, thanks!
No problem, thanks for watching...
***** ive done this on my 212cc predator but it keeps dieing....plz let me know what the problem could be

Thanks your video was helpful is it ok not to remove the govner from inside the motor
Just what I was looking for! Thanks
Hey Keith what type of cable would fit through the hole and do you think the same linkage setup could be applied to a go kart?
Good video I am going to do linkage like that for my Predator motor ATV build.
I did this the other day and fired it up today and when I put it in run position the motor started revving extremely high with no throttle applied

I'm wondering the same thing

Your the best I used the metal piece that connect to the carb instead of the hangers my cart is fast now lol 💘
Can't get that throttle screw out at all any help and yes I've used crescent wrenches screwdrivers it's not coming out it's just ruining the screw
did you get a brand new engine

I'm having the same problem. Did you ever find out what the issue was?
Thanks for your video you have such clarity.
Great job! Just what I needed to know. Thank you sir
what is the little spring for ?
where can i find the small thattle linkage ? to connect between the cable and the Mounting gas?
idk lol
Can a Kill switch malfunction from getting wet or just old and cause it to be stuck in off position, keeping the motor from cranking!

+Hardball Hall you are welcome
I took my governor off of mine and adjusted throttle assembly and all that good stuff... Now it wont start... I have no idea why.. any ideas??
Nice way to Bale on the project
i didn't actually take governor out of engine just tried to bypass it. like i said i know nothing about these motors. learning the hard way though
Thank you very much and congratulations sir
Life is too short for videos like this.
#sausagefingers
where do you get the spring for the govener
came on the plate, that came with engine... try a hardware store.
Putting a 6.5 powerfist in my pocket ATV 🤣🔥
My powerfist measures 6.5 up.
For a second I thought I had stumbled upon a diy child removal video. I find it very annoying they don't have a cable mount from the rear.
Thank u so much this helped so much thank ur awsome lml thank u 👍👍👍👍👍
love the video.
if you set up that linkage and remove the old one from the governor arm, can you just leave the governor gear in the engine?
Great video:)
Thanks man
Put prededtor in honda, wnna see top speed.
very helpfull.
My predator does 35 with the governor
Check out my other video's
Nice
He doesnt know what he is talking about he said the idle screw adjust how fast you can go.
That wasn't the idle screw he was showing. It was a stop for w.o.t.

COME ON THERE WAS NO NEED FOR THIS THROTTLE LINKAGE WHEN THERE IS A FACTORY ONE ON IT FROM THE START
Ikr I watched this and was sad because I could never do this then saw your comment, looked at me engine and was happy thx
dont need to pull the crankshaft or camshaft to remove that arm and gov. gear just wasted time
Don't remove those springs, you could end up poking someone in the eye!
/humor
Very big jop
Doing this will void your warranty, they are factory set for a reason people, if you want more power spend more money
