My go to crayon brand and pack number based on both abundance, quality, and budget will always be Crayola 24 Pack Crayons ( I have similar criteria for the Faber Castell Classic / Regular 24 Color Pencil Pack ) since these are the most plentiful and good color amount-based color palette for almost anybody to have and use with a good cheap price. I also discover that Crayola 24 WASHABLE Crayons behave similarly as watercolors which to me may be a missed opportunity for Crayola to not convert or remarket them as Watercolor crayons TOO! ( Emphasis on the word "too", not just only washable I mean. ) Good video overall, I wanna request if you can make a sequel to this but with washable or watercolor crayons please, they are basically 'crayon' versions of watercolor pencils if you have some experience in using any watercolor pencils such as Stabilo's or Faber Castell's Watercolor Pencils. :)
awww I think you must read my mind but I bought the washable crayons eons ago to do such a video and then promptly forgot about doing it. I will write it down now - thank you for jogging my old memory! I only have the 24 pack of crayons as well....I keep looking at the larger ones and maybe one day I'll buy them but I just don't feel that I need them as well. I do have the 60 set of FC Classics and I am glad that I bought them but tbh I usually use the 24 set I have lol! Happy coloring x
Enjoyed your video! Another medium that I like better than baby oil for blending crayon is Gamsol & a stump or tortillion. The reason I like the odorless mineral spirits instead is that it won't leave an oil spot behind on the back of the page + a little less messy than baby oil.
Thank you so much for this video! I’m going to be joining a high school art competition in my state and I wanted to figure out of to make my crayons have a more creamy look to them, this really helped out!
Rather than sharpening blending stumps, it's easier to clean them by rubbing them on sandpaper. You have a very relaxing voice. All through watching this vid I was thinking that I need to put the rubbish out but had to see the end.

I blend the same way. I struggle with my mental health and adult coloring has helped me with my anxiety. I love to blend different colors and play around a little bit. I wanted to get the Prisma coloring pencils but they're too high. Your coloring is beautiful and it pops.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Coloring is great for anxiety, you can just focus on the drawing, color away and escape for as long as you want! The prismacolor pencils are beautiful and they are my favorites but you can use any pencil/crayon/marker that you like. You may not get as much pigment but you will still be able to enjoy coloring with them. Personally, I love crayons because they are so soft and I have a wrist injury that is painful when I use too much pencil! Happy coloring x
I have watched from before on ypu tube, coloring crafts on my tablet. This showed me skills on how to color and shade pictures with colors going together.
Looks great! I do have some mandala books that have large spaced designs instead of details so I can try using crayons. I have the pack of 100, have never used them. - Sandra
I love crayons and when I got into adult coloring they were my first purchase. Now after having all the bells and whistles I still grab my crayons when I need something dependable and it helps my expensive supplies stretch. I especially like them for backgrounds and I get good results with gamsol,
I agree! I like the smell of. them as well (strange, I know!). The great thing about crayons is that you can get a lot of coverage with little effort (fantastic for the wrists and hands if you have injuries) Stay safe. Happy coloring x
I don't have crayons yet, I wasn't sure which brand to buy. Now I know, crayons van Crayola. On Amazon.de (Germany) are boxes from Crayola with even 96 crayons. You explained how to blend crayons very well. Thank you very much for this video. My hands hurt a lot too. Now I see I can still colour. Just use drawings with big spaces and crayons. I have also mandala colouring books, with tiny spaces to colour and a few with big spaces. It's to expensive to colour these last ones with pencils. Crayola crayons are indeed a better/cheaper solution, especially when your hands hurt. Can you place a link to the site where one can download these lovely mandala's for free, please.
Just bought this one www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CI6J3HA/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 152 different colours, 16 metallic and 16 glitter included, only 14,88 dollar. I had to pay 25,04 dollar for the crayons, shipping costs and import fees included to Belgium. I'm very happy that I didn't buy the box on Amazon.de. I looked today again, their crayons are also from the USA. But they were more expensive and the shipping costs were even 40 dollar. The box that I bought on Amazon will be shipped from the company Crayola. Now I have to spend less money for my crayons and certainly less money on the shipping costs.
If you are struggling with hand pain as well as the crayons you may want to consider watercolors. Even the cheap Faber Castell student ones are great for laying just a wash of color. You can then go over it with pencils once it is dry to add extra detail or shading if you wanted. If you are using watercolors it would need to be printed on good quality paper (preferably watercolor paper). You can also use thing like a highlighter texta to add color first and then go over in pencil which causes less pain on my hands and may help you. If you follow the artists that I referred to they often provide pages to download in their Facebook groups or pages. Happy coloring x

:D Hahaha Yes!! Oh this is Awesome! You told me you colored with crayons to but I wasn't expecting a tutorial! 1:07 Yes *clap* The best tip Ever! And that's the sharpener I use ...... Now hahahaha you know what coming! So. I got the big set of crayons with the sharpener in the back. Now I get why it's duller than marble counter top because kids will be kids and stick their little fingers in it. But still I thought it would do something. I was wrong. Like nothing o.O?? So it MUST be that I wasn't sticking the crayon in far enough so I really push it in and crack away and Hey! The crayons getting shorter! It worked! Triumphantly I pull out a point smushed crayon! lol :'D Like 1/4 was well like a lit candle and the wax smushes Yep. But it was formed to the angle shape of the sharpener hahaha. And even the stub of the point that I had before I tried to sharpen it was gone! That poor crayon. However his sacrifice of 1/3 of his length saved his fellow brethren because on the hunt for a better solution I just happened to have that sharpener and tried it out. But getting a tip about which sharpener to use is way better because not being able to get a point was stopping me from using certain colors. 3:10 Yes. Like for me my hands can be numb and tingly so gripping things hurts and having to put pressure hurts. 3:23 That sucks. The pain part. The crayons are the good part because they let you color on days you probably couldn't otherwise. They do that for me and I love them for that. 5:35 And let me say your color choice is BEAUTIFUL!! 8:00 The baby oil really looks good! 10:05 See I liked the Baby oil better to! I thought I was just being cheap but while they both look very well blended the baby oil ones pop off the page more.13:35 Oh you can? Oh that's nice to know. And it doesn't look your putting hardly any pressure to get it to lay on more color! 16:18 Oh that's cool! :D I mean it's blending ... So did the other way very well but I mean it's a seamless transition from the purple to the blue! 16:51 Thank You. Because the q-tip wouldn't be something I would be able to hold when my hands get bad. Yes! The stump thing is perfect! And their cheap. Not Q-tip cheap but they last quite a while so it might equal out. Oh it sharpens! Nice! So I have several books set aside for times when I'll need to use crayons. I won't use the baby oil on them because I really don't like them that much. Their back ups because I finished my original crayon coloring book However in my new one Fabiano's book ...I'm SO Going to Try It!! :D I think the paper can handle it. I'll try in the back to make sure. I can do so many more things with the pages now Especially the Sky! The blending always gets you there. Yes!! It's going to be so much fun! Thanks so Much! Your tutorial will make a bad time for me ...well I mean it's still going to suck But! It will be way more fun Coloring Wise!!! Which means a lot. Thanks so Much! It was Great!
aww poor crayon! Do you use the same sharpener as I do - Staedtler twin hole? You may be holding on to him too tight? Or maybe he just doesn't want to have a pointy head :) You can save the smushy bits and either melt them or mix with little bits of baby oil to make a wash so he can still be with you in a different form :) Yes, pain sucks before I broke my wrist I used to make mosaic tables now holding the nippers is really painful as is sometimes silly things like turning a key :( The stumps are very versatile I've found and quite low cost, give them a little sharpen and they'll last a while. I don't buy the fancy art ones just the cheap ones from the discount shop. Aww hope you love coloring your books with crayons especially when it doesn't involve too much pain! I have a couple of more videos in this "crayon" series too. Happy crayon coloring x
Yes I use the Staedtler twin hole. It even sharpened the smushed crayon back into a point. It was that useless built into the back of the 64pack of Crayola Crayons sharpener that smushed him. But he was saved. He's just really short. lol! Oh this video is part of a series :D Cool! Loved Part One!
ahh I misunderstood. I love my Staedtler twin hole ....it's the cheapest sharpener I've bought and I sharpen every single brand of pencils with it and crayons and blender stumps lol. I actually should buy a spare one ...just in case lol! Happy coloring x
Hi Lea, Which one would you recommend for backgrounds..Crayons or Oil pastel? I have seen videos doing backgrounds with soft pastel but the colour will transfer to other page and that bothers me so pastel is out from my selection.
I haven't used either crayons or oil pastel for backgrounds to be honest. I often use a watercolor wash or just pencils or pastels. With pastels to avoid the transfer you can spray with fixative spray. If you don't have fixative you can try with cheap hairspray. The cheaper stuff seems to work better. Test it out on a scrap first though before using in your book as different products could react differently. Happy coloring x
Do you have alcohol markers, any brush tip markers (water based is fine) or highlighters? Any of them with coloured pencil on top can be nice for backgrounds. You have to do a whole lot less colouring with the pencils if you use them as a base. If the book is one sided, crayons are good but I wouldn't do oil pastels. If it's double sided, crayons DO transfer to the page they are pressed against sometimes, but they don't get everywhere like pastels. I get the fixative thing Coloring Queen brought up, but personally I REALLY don't want to use it because it's just nasty stuff and it's winter here so I really don't feel like going outside to spray a book. Plus I just don't want my stuff getting wet.
I used to love Crayola above other brands because they didn't leave little pieces of wax and they actually colored, but now that I've bought a 24 pack to complement my old ones, I'm finding the quality has drastically dropped and some shades feel like I'm coloring with the dollar store brand ones, leaving little pieces of wax everywhere and not coloring (mostly tge light shades like pink, light blue, yellow green, etc)
awww I'm sorry to hear about your problems with your recent Crayola purchase. Have you contacted them for a replacement? It may be that you have just got a dud batch? Usually the makers are very good at replacing products. I haven't bought any recently ...my Crayolas are years old now but still going well with no problems. I hope that you can find a solution. Happy coloring x
Coloring is a most difficult medium to learn. Like language and riding a bike, if you don’t learn when you’re a child, it makes it so much harder in your later years. And like being illiterate, going through life having not learned how to color with crayons makes the world a much more challenging place.
@@krachel99 My teacher said she does not know how to draw because she did not learn that much when she was a child so maybe that was the problem But me and my classmates promised her after quarantine we wil teach her how to :)
You could give it a try but I doubt that the properties of a cooking oil would be the same. It may cause staining of the paper and produce an odour. You could give it a test on a scrap and see what happens.
The wonderful thing about coloring is that there is a product out there for every type of colorist. You can also try the twistable crayons as well if you want a smaller point. Happy coloring x
I'm always envious of people that have the big sets of crayons :). You can do a lot with a limited amount of different products just use different pressures and add a white to tint. Stay safe! Happy coloring x

Baby oil can also used for color pencils as well but is not reccomended. But ima try with crayons just fot fun 😀
Tmarie2u
That Is a LOT of random detail
What did u blend them with
so sad mine is only 8 crayola crayons
You only need 2 crayons to blend.
What was that liquid? Please reply

Thanks i bought 100 crayola crayons last year and i still find it impossible to color with them! 😂 thanks for this vid
You are so welcome! I'm a little jealous of your 100 set! I hope you enjoy coloring with them. Stay safe. Happy coloring x
Coloring is a most difficult medium to learn. Like language and riding a bike, if you don’t learn when you’re a child, it makes it so much harder in your later years. And like being illiterate, going through life having not learned how to color with crayons makes the world a much more challenging place.

My teacher said she does not know how to draw because she did not learn that much when she was a child so maybe that was the problem
But me and my classmates promised her after quarantine we wil teach her how to :)
I have a 120 set of crayons
Wow! I'd love to get a set of 120 one day! I hope you love coloring with yours! Happy coloring x

You can purchase crayons at newsagents and supermarkets in a variety of number counts and to suit any budget. Stay safe. Happy coloring x
Hare you using baby oil to do this
Yes, make sure the crayon is warm or the surface so that it will flow well without pooling. Happy coloring x
ty!! :D
Please explain for tamil
I have olive oil. 😂 Can I use that instead?
Muhammad Farhan Ahmed probably
You could give it a try but I doubt that the properties of a cooking oil would be the same. It may cause staining of the paper and produce an odour. You could give it a test on a scrap and see what happens.
I have loads of them and I haven't use them..🤣
awww I hope you get the time or urge to color with them one day, they can be so relaxing and easy to use! Stay safe. Happy coloring x
@@coloringqueen Thank to this video..I counted it and it was like over 300+ and I've used them now..thank you so much!☺️

This help me alot cause im not comfortable using color pencils idk why😂
The wonderful thing about coloring is that there is a product out there for every type of colorist. You can also try the twistable crayons as well if you want a smaller point. Happy coloring x
Me watching this with my 8 crayolas
Mhm interesting
I'm always envious of people that have the big sets of crayons :). You can do a lot with a limited amount of different products just use different pressures and add a white to tint. Stay safe! Happy coloring x
good job😊❤💛💖

A tip if someone comes here, you can use 60% alcohol (chemical) and rest mix a bit of water and blend with Q tip it may work
