In this video we look at the effectiveness of MultiCam® Tropic camouflage pattern in a Woodland Environment during the spring/summer time (North Texas woods). This video will consist of numerous scenes where each will begin with a concealed stationary position (both with & without the use of vegetation), followed by a movement phase out of the initial position. The purpose of the video is to give the viewer a chance to see the individual camouflage pattern and how it looks and blends into this environment. There will be varying degrees of how much of the uniform will be exposed to the viewer. Some scenes will only expose little more than perhaps a hat, while other scenes will have virtually no vegetation covering. Brent0331 this stuff is pretty good. I saw you right off on the first one. But none of the ones after. Even after you shot, and started to walk around a bit.
I've been following you since the start of your channel and you've provided loades of great info. Thanks for the new pattern videos and for bringing back the old ones too. One question to ask is are you using standard military issue bug repellent or are you using civilian grade 100% Deet?
I live in the UK, and I find multicam tropic is highly effective when I go bird watching, it blends in much better than British MTP. I have trousers (pants), and a ubacs combat shirt made by Bulldog tactical, baseball cap, and I also incorporate a A-TACS FG neck gaiter, and Mechanix wear original multicam gloves. I wish that Mechanix would make multicam tropic gloves
I see some people don't care for MC Tropic, but I like it, if I was going into a tropical jungle warfare environment this would be what I'd be wearing.
According to an older Brent0331 video, the m90 uniform is to hot for tropic environments. My favorite patterns for Florida are A-tacs FG, A-tacs IX, and MC Tropic. Sometimes I'll train wearing UCP pants with an A-tacs FG top, a tropic or ix boonie, and desert boots. lol I still use my old UCP ACU's which many hate but I always liked.
I live in Florida and I had a hard time finding him. Often didn’t. Although why not use a real tree or mossy oak specifically designed for a sub tropical area like Florida? Obviously the military wouldn’t but as civilians wouldn’t it make more sense to use the most accurate pattern?
I'm new to your channel. I think what most of your early commenters miss is the value of watching these videos just to train your eyes to look for anything even remotely out of the ordinary. The testing of the patterns is great, but the target aquisition training is the true value here. Thanks.
Compared to other camo patterns, and considering the shades of foliage, I’d say this is Very Effective camo. As always motion/movement draws the eye to it, but again, this camo works!
Fun for the whole family. My 3 y/o daughter spotted you all but once. Now I know who to train when she gets older. New eyes make the difference, I guess.
Would be interested to see how that dark multicam tropic pattern does here in Hawaii, where the cloud rainforest vegetation is a darker shade of green compared to the light green plants in your woodland terrain.
Love what your doing. I noticed that in a lot of the different hides that you were demonstrating you done so with the sun to your back which threw your silhouette. At that point the best camo in the world wouldn't break you up. Multicam is amazing in the way that the multiple shades of colors trick the eye and pulls the surrounding environment into the colors in the camo. Also you're doing a a great job of camoing yourself despite the camo pattern that you're using by putting vegetation or land features between yourself and the point of view of the watchers.
Thanks for the video, brother. This camouflage is good for the forest. But the second most effective after woodland. In my opinion, woodland is number 1.
MultiCam does MultiCam, is it the best in woodland? Absolutely not, but that was never the goal. The goal of a multi terrain pattern is to be a jack of all trades, and it's especially effective for long patrols that stretch over different environments, like for example Afghanistan where you'd have arid hills and mountains but lush irrigated river valleys. MultiCam will work just fine for woodland, but for an environment where you knew 90% of the time you're going to be hiding in heavy foliage then perhaps you would want a woodland leaning version of MultiCam, and the idea is (at least with the US Army's OCP) your core gear like your vest, bag and pouches will be the transitional version of OCP, then you get issued a woodland or desert version of your fatigues which match the OCP pattern shape wise but have colours which blend better with the environment if you were going to tropical forests or sandy deserts.
It's our official uniform in Florida Militia. It is amazing in Florida's swamps, dunes, woods. Select US Army Spec Ops teams are beginning to use it now I believe also. It's not cheap though.
I just started watching your content and started with the enemy weapons video from a couple years ago. I'm really glad to see you're still making videos, especially the enemy weapons one. I'm about to join the USMC (currently in the DEP) and I'm glad to see stuff like this.Very educational, thank you!
This works extremely well in the Boreal forest in Canada. It’s all evergreen trees so dark green year round aside from when there’s snow on it. Also the largest forest in the world and for the most part logging companies can’t touch. It is very much the frontier through most of it. There are just simply no roads. Keep on keepin on brother, your videos are phenomenal
Works pretty good as long as you stay motionless. Slow movement makes it more effective. Interesting, a lot better than the former digital stuff... wish you a good 2024 and all your viewers...
I really like how you conducted your test. a lot of other people just set up the camera, push record, take a few steps in front of it then stand there in the open and ask how their cammo is working... ...its not..
I was internally debating between Multicam Tropic and A-TACS FG-X as a camo for more green environments. Your videos helped me make a decision so thank you! This variant of Multicam seems to be a tad too dark in some cases whereas in your A-TACS FG-X video that camo seemed to always do fairly well and appeared dark notably less frequently. Multicam Tropic seems like it would be best suited for literal tropics, hence the name I'm assuming, where there is much less light in the jungle environments. I'm eager to try out the FG-X come spring time, I'm hoping it does well!
That multicam seems more green than mine. Mine is Tru Spec brand and seems a little more coyote tan colored. Mine works VERY WELL in the winter woods of Western Kentucky, but, I always switch back to woodland bdu come spring.
I never loved Crye patterns as a base, they do make a nice pattern for accessories because the multicam is "multi" and works pretty ok anywhere, even in the desert as you and Bruce showed in the Nevada footage. Multicam patterns do not seem to break the human sillouhette.
MC Tropic is excellent cam for most places not just jungle....way better than standard MC....which is really desert/arid.....glows like the moon in the green stuff.
One big advantage multicam uses is the white/off white splotches. This drastically aids in depth perception fooling the eye to think it sees the light coming through from behind the soldier. Each camo is designed for mainly a specific area and even time of year. This does work well.
I found you over 70% of the time. Reason: shapes (usually the hat) and "density".... you were more color-dense than your environment. It's a good pattern, though. I live in FL and my # 1 pattern is M80 Woodland, followed by Multi-Cam Tropical, with simple OD Green being a surprisingly effective 3rd for my particular area.
Same. Wearing camo isn't enough, you also need to disrupt the silhouette and take into account lighting, especially lighting contrast in the environment.
Great video as always! For whatever reason on most shots it looked like a dark blob, to be honest I was expecting it to be much more effective. Guess no pattern can beat old soviet KLMK for the given environment.
Very effective in the green, naturally enough, and also in combination with the ground and so, even if it is not green. Sort of in the same field as Cad-pat, Russian Digital Flora, Danish M84, Swedish M90, Ukrainian Jaba ("toad", "polyova" or Field Toad "light" green version.) and other mostly green patterns (those I could remember just now)(Ok, of cause also A-TACS FG + IX, Czech VZ 95, SPECTRE from Russian company SSO, and original Tiger Stripe, maybe, though TS also has a lot of black in it too. AHHH so MANY different camos!!!). Maybe not as dark as eg. M84, with black in it too, though, but darker than eg. Jaba for sure. The only problem, (if one can call it that?) with these very "micro" pattern based camos is, IMHO, that even on quite short distanced, they look like a "single" or "mono" color, in this case green, as the exact pattern fades away, and colors blur into one another, and in such cases they are very similar, so distances cannot be that long. In contrast the French CCE or of cause 3- color or 6- color desert, Russian SS-leto and so, they are more "makro" IMHO, :o) but maybe easier to spot on short distances or through binoculars, scopes and such technologies?? Good pattern definitely though for green environments. Good work as always. and nice day!! :o)
Multicam is so adaptive that it works better to kneel behind light cover if you notice on every theater/ demonstration that when you come out of prone into the kneeling position, you are better camouflaged in the kneeling position. Multicam tricks the eye by pulling everything in your foreground and background into the colors of the pattern. Laying horizontal on the ground works against the camo, the colors and shapes along the ground is too busy. It works well with woodland because of the dark dominant colors. With multicam it just makes your silhouette more prominent, actually the only part of you that you can see the camo is still doing what its designed to do. Maybe do a video dedicated to showing the effectiveness of camps of different varieties in the kneeling and prone positions
When your exotic variant(tropical) outperforms your standard camouflage(OCP) you know you've done something wrong. Wouldn't actually mind if the Army just straight up switches over to the tropical variant as there standard. Ever since I saw it for the first time I just knew it was leaps and bounds better than OCP. Great video BTW.
I wish there would be like a network of spin off channels who test the same camo in their different environments. Someone should start a facebook page and coordinate gear sharing in pursuit of the overall goal of the group. That would be really cool.....
I really enjoy your videos. In my opinion this is even a superior to the Vietnam tiger stripe pattern which is the only pattern that I have given a 100%. The first clip got me to wonder, but you had demonstrated later that you just had the camera a few yards too close.
Outstanding vid with the multicam effectiveness of, but some poor fool could die of a heart attack just bumping into you out there in the bush,..lol !!! And as always thanx for your top notch videos, just so well made & informative,..Really liked the gear you reviewed at the end, really rugged looking gear,..I've never been a fan of velcro & have been modifying my pouches for a more silent way of opening & closing & opening it up again without that ripping sound, especially if one found themselves in a stealthy situation...Again thanx Brent 0331, i think you are one hell of a Marine as well as a great American....
Brother Brent, if I had to pick between Multicam Tropic and Rhodesian, I would have taken the Rhodesian anytime, however the multicam tropic is out of place in the Texas woods. Good video, Brent at least you are showing the pros and cons of all camouflage patterns, keep up the good work bro.
now that is some good looking camo pattern. nice big areas and good color. i am not one that agrees black has no place in camo, but this does a great job without the black.
I agree, I'm not on the anti-black in camouflage band wagon either. There are plenty of great classic patterns that include black and are excellent tried and true combat proven patterns out there.
I know this may sound dumb as in it wasnt intented for this, but I would like to see an effectiveness video during the fall/winter months. Since its winter now could you get a Multi-Cam Tropic Part II in before spring time? I noticed it doesnt blend well with woodland vegetation but it does well with the ground.
Bout good as Canadian cadpat. Thought the old brown ERDL actually better in a lush green environment. We have a hard time getting our greens to match the environment, they always seem darker than the surrounding veg. Great vid as usual.
HI Brent, Man, I do like this Multicam Tropic Camouflage design for our Texas area. It Blended in very well. Like I always do I run these video's several times and really study them. If, Something Happens-it would be a good choice to have on hand. Thank You for this choice and All the other's you show us on video.
It did much better then expected to be honest, multicamn is just a great camo even know many people seem to dislike it but that is becaus everyone and their mother has it even many militarys use it. Saw some German special forces with the normal multicam, makes definetly sense if you dont know where your next mission is.
In this evironment, no other pattern can beat Original Vietnam Tiger Stripe and KLMK camo. With multicam tropic in this video, I could spot you almost 60% of time. Thanks for the great video!
Yea Brent got the multi cam back in 09 and it’s way more suited for green environments then the newer version. Good job and we’re do you get those subdued Texas flag patches??????
I say this one beats the standard woodland and chocolate chip desert that I wore in the military. It seems pretty equal to the Real Tree camouflage you presented in another video; however would the Real Tree work as well in this spring environment. This multi cam tropical is good stuff.
Hello buddy 😁. Dpm for me all the way. But your pattern is good for the area your in. That's what the kit is for. Great video buddy. Thanks for sharing mate. ATVB Andy
Hahaha had the sound all the way up and made the lady next to me jump when you took the 1st shot. Man you were blended great just during the intro. This stuff works great in green environments
Nvm I just found this series and went through a couple videos before this one without hearing you shoot at all in them. Needless to say I almost threw my phone when I was zoned in trying to find you on that one clip 😂
It would be interesting/useful to have a good, clear pan shot across the actual pattern across the smock at the start or finish of the vid. Y'know - what does it look like close-ish, and then how does that compare to the "in use" segments.
Thanks for another great video. I'm 50/50 on this pattern. Sometimes it blends very well, and other times sore thumb. Which folds into a comment I mad a couple of days about UCP. In the right place at the right time DAMN! But... agh! I wish I had the time money and equipment to try this in my part of the U.S. where a lot of the foliage is a bit darker than where you are. We're classified as a sub-tropical climate and just looking at the greens in the pattern it might do well. But MultiCam ( Kryptec ) prices are beyond reason when there are other patterns that cost less and do a decent job.
New to your channel. I never was a soldier or even own much camo but your different videos wearing various militaries camo gear are very interesting. Glad I found your channel. Subscribed👍
the pattern is pretty impressive even with you just sitting there at the start. you might go for a lighter shade of green face camo though or it might be due to the shadow cast by the hat
That's why ERDL camo from the 1948 was made for Woodland Environment during spring/summer seasons, if they were made in digital pattern then it will works even better.
Definitely your usual high quality Brent. That MCT disappears nicely in those woods. Question: Isn't it true that movement (or lack of it) is a huge factor in camo and concealment. Once you begin to move regardless of what camo you're wearing the human eye is drawn to that movement and makes the camo less effective, right? I imagine that a slow low crawl would be the best for when you aren't in a hurry. Also, it always depends on what environment you're in. I guess s smart man will look around for positions that will make best use of his camo.
In this video we look at the effectiveness of MultiCam® Tropic camouflage pattern in a Woodland Environment during the spring/summer time (North Texas woods). Hawaii Volcano Squad The Multicam doesn’t even blend in but only the ground but I find the tropic look more pleasing
Slow . patient and deliberate movement is just as critical as color and pattern in concealment.
Man I love Crye patterns. Multicam Tropic works amazingly well here in Canada too.
This is the best once I've seen so far. Just as good as the woodland camo.

Thanks for the video, brother. This camouflage is good for the forest. But the second most effective after woodland. In my opinion, woodland is number 1.

Ranger Green might work better there to be honest even though it's a solid color, the tones are far more in line with a boreal forest.
Thanks man, I've used this format from the start and people have seemed to like it. I've just stuck with what the people have found to be informative.
I don`t know how it is possible I didn`t see this earlier. It is as good as old woodland in y opinion. Thank you Brant.
@2:05 JUMPSCARE
you're dead!
Not for me, I spotted his silhouette almost instantly at the start of that "scene", plus he moved before he fired, which just confirmed where he was.
clicked, instructions unclear shit all over room...
I never loved Crye patterns as a base, they do make a nice pattern for accessories because the multicam is "multi" and works pretty ok anywhere, even in the desert as you and Bruce showed in the Nevada footage. Multicam patterns do not seem to break the human sillouhette.
It's like an updated version of the old woodland with the black replaced by dark green.
This is just insane man. Really nice video. Very effective camo pattern in this type of environment. Extremely impressed.
MC Tropic is excellent cam for most places not just jungle....way better than standard MC....which is really desert/arid.....glows like the moon in the green stuff.
Very awesome and effective. Digging the ambiance and wonderful scenery.
This pattern set looks sick. Can’t wait to complete my own set.
I have a multicam-tropic patrol hat. I feel like its better than multicam in general. Great pattern.
Tropical Multicam, Polish camo, and Flektarn are pretty good as well for Foreign camouflage patterns.
I haven't even started to watch the video , but when I saw that it was about tropic multicam ,YES!!!
One big advantage multicam uses is the white/off white splotches. This drastically aids in depth perception fooling the eye to think it sees the light coming through from behind the soldier. Each camo is designed for mainly a specific area and even time of year. This does work well.
Fantastic. Ive been using tiger stripe for years guess its time to invest in some multicam tropic
Guess no pattern can beat old soviet KLMK for the given environment.
despite being dark green, it seems like it matches the dark soil and shadowy backgrounds better than the leaves
The tropical variant is definitely more effective than the standard multicam pattern in this environment
That's what ERDL green dominant were made for, that thing was invented in 1948.
A little dark at times Brent , but cool pattern . Chest rig soaks in with it well too. Good video .Thanks. Atb Darren.
Thanks for watching.
It seems that this video is around a years old. Maybe you will see this and respond with either a video or reply. Love what you're doing
Appreciate the video. I'm sold on tropic now
Multicam is so adaptive that it works better to kneel behind light cover if you notice on every theater/ demonstration that when you come out of prone into the kneeling position, you are better camouflaged in the kneeling position.
Thanks dude I appreciate you doing this video I've been asking you for awhile and is pretty badass camouflage
very cool. thanks for bringing us these videos even though they do not get a large amount of views
Thanks for watching.
As always!! Outstanding!!! Gunny!! Rrahh 0311 S/F..
Thanks brother.
i love multicam tropic, it blends in very well, however...i wish there was a multicam wolf grey, that would be nice AF
Multicam continues to impress me - I thought it was very effective here! Thanks for another awesome video, Brent!
Thanks brother.
Looks too dark, too gray to be somewhat effective...probably works pretty good in the jungle.
@@bradleydixon9147 It is the perfect camo for FL.
Excellent for where I am in WV.
It's surprisingly good in taiga's/boreal forests too, just darker woodland in general.
i live in missouri and for 9 months of the year original mc is too brown, really wish there was an inbetween of the two patterns.
I think it works great in the shadows.....great video. I'm still attached to my Atac FG....just because of the enviroment I'm in.
Thanks man, I like FG as well its a good pattern.
I really enjoy your videos. In my opinion this is even a superior to the Vietnam tiger stripe pattern which is the only pattern that I have given a 100%. The first clip got me to wonder, but you had demonstrated later that you just had the camera a few yards too close.
Thanks so much just bought a set from govx last week excited about what I’m about to watch!!
Thanks for watching.
now that is some good looking camo pattern. nice big areas and good color. i am not one that agrees black has no place in camo, but this does a great job without the black.
Thanks brother
It did much better then expected to be honest, multicamn is just a great camo even know many people seem to dislike it but that is becaus everyone and their mother has it even many militarys use it. Saw some German special forces with the normal multicam, makes definetly sense if you dont know where your next mission is.
The first frame I almost didn’t see you, jarring
Ordering a JPC in MCT and some G3s rn!
Thanks bro!!!
Ehreh!
In this evironment, no other pattern can beat Original Vietnam Tiger Stripe and KLMK camo. With multicam tropic in this video, I could spot you almost 60% of time. Thanks for the great video!
Girls: let’s go on a nature walk! Boys:
Takes me back to my army days as a cavalry scout. 🇺🇸👍😀♥️
John is an amazing man.
Yea Brent got the multi cam back in 09 and it’s way more suited for green environments then the newer version. Good job and we’re do you get those subdued Texas flag patches??????
Works very well. Thank you for doing this pattern. 😎🇺🇸
Looks a little too dark? All I know is I found you in just about every shot, just had to look for the dark spot.
Thank you for making such a thorough video
I say this one beats the standard woodland and chocolate chip desert that I wore in the military. It seems pretty equal to the Real Tree camouflage you presented in another video; however would the Real Tree work as well in this spring environment. This multi cam tropical is good stuff.
Hello buddy 😁. Dpm for me all the way. But your pattern is good for the area your in. That's what the kit is for. Great video buddy. Thanks for sharing mate. ATVB Andy
Thanks man, theres a lot of quality British DPM surplus gear out there right now.
This camo is impressive it would be great for the woods in pa.
Hahaha had the sound all the way up and made the lady next to me jump when you took the 1st shot. Man you were blended great just during the intro. This stuff works great in green environments
Nice...
Ive been meaning to see how this fairs in Florida. The environment you use seems close enough to it where I might invest in it.
you should check out the Philippine Pattern by Hyperstealth :)
Finally you got it, I have it for a year ago !!!!
Again, a real world version of "Where's Waldo." great upload again. Thanks!
Thanks for watching.
Ya know I originally thought tropic was too green and especially too dark for more temperate areas but seems I was wrong.
Awesome videos sir. What about doing one that talks about sleeping in the field with different sleeping gear, tents etc etc.
Thanks brother, who knows, maybe in the future.
Subscribed👍
You’re a mind reader! I was just wondering if you had reviewed this pattern, and you already posted it a few hours ago!
Ha, yeah this was a long time in the making. Problem was finding a set a good price.
Thank you for all the great video and also the non bias on the camo and hooraa thank you for your service
Semper Fi
Thanks brother.
the pattern is pretty impressive even with you just sitting there at the start. you might go for a lighter shade of green face camo though or it might be due to the shadow cast by the hat
That's why ERDL camo from the 1948 was made for Woodland Environment during spring/summer seasons, if they were made in digital pattern then it will works even better.
There's green dominant, and brown dominant ERDL.Supposedly the brown dominant version works better in every scenario.
I just saw this and went to get it at UW Gear's site, but they don't sell Multicam Tropic anymore.
