My dad was an army ranger before desert storm amd groing up he always taught me about the fundamentals of blending in and its nice to watch your videos as a refresher, love the videos and cant wait to watch the rest

Love this guy's vids. They're honest, straight forward, no frills, just good ole tried and true techniques that WORK!!! Bravo!!
I found with a baseball cap you can put a shoelace through the breathing holes and then use that to put vegetation through the same way you can on a boonie and helmet :)
Arian Labbaf not really its what i used on my ghillie since i couldnt find my old boonie I had some surplus ww2 helmet nets that were OD green i used one of those and some 550 cord. And tides jute into it i made my ghillie the hard way..... i bought cammo burlap pulled it apart by hand and then instead of net.... i perforated my bdu jacket and tied the jute into the holes. It breaths pretty good. And since it was camo burlap it has a good break up of color. The ghille looks like a desert ghillie but it has bits of black Greed and brown scattered throughout it. The hardest thing to conceal is boots in the prone
Adding on to the poncho. If you get caught in a situation where you are MIA there are several shelter configurations you can use the poncho for. Lean to, A frame, or even just crawling under it and staking the ends to the ground. Also when paired with a "bivi" blanket it can become a makeshift sleeping bag. Corporal's Corner is a UA-cam channel and he has a few videos with that info.
hey Brent thanks for your service I have never served myself but to watch videos like yours I find very fascinating to see the mind set that goes into the military training is something most civilians never even think about survival skills are very important to have thanks again for a great video
19:10 sounds like you have a ww2 arial battle going on in the background. I expected to hear the stukas Jericho trumptets start screaming as they dive bomb.
I am amazed at how well your spotting scope and rifle blend in with that simple two toned pattern. I am beginning to believe that contrast and breaking up the outline is the most important factor.
I love your videos Brent. You're a great help, fun to watch, straight to the point with no bullshit, no little video tricks and stuff, just really sincere, believable and assistant(if that can be used as an adjective), regards from Suid Afrika and the Boers.
From this I learned a great deal of information about a topic I've never seen so thoroughly presented before. Thank you. I'll be getting some of that MARPAT wrap stuff, one of those simple sniper veils you used like a scarf, and a ranger band that I'll be sure to secure to my helmet cover with 2 safety pins. I appreciate the time you put in to making this, as well as your service.
lol this guy. Guess the videos of me in Afghanistan, or the pictures on my google plus page are not me. I didn't know I was required to wear digital camies in everything I did in life. THANKS DEVEL!
wow--great video--especially liked the "Where's Waldo" at the end!!!. Love that and I would suggest you make many more of those! Patrolling in the woods is what we will most likely face in a SHTF scenario. Learning a lot from you--keep going!!! Huge Thumbs Up!!
Love the channel, very informative in a no nonsense format. A little disappointed you didn't mention spandoflage as an alternative to painting your face.
Thanks, I don't personally prefer anything that goes over the face like a balaclava, ski mask, etc. A patrol/op can last hours - days, your not going to want anything on your face for hours on end. For hunting or something else along those lines absolutely, but I orient my videos towards military related content. Thanks for watching and commenting.
23:37 I admit, the first two I didn't see you, but this one I saw you literally right away! Even though you blended in with the foreground and the plane you were on, the contrast of the backdrop blew your silhouette out! I'm going to have to keep that in mind on the next adventure out. Be mindful of what's behind you (me).
one of my favorite pieces of concealment equipment is my mesh mitchell camo balaclava, super breathable and easily portable, and much less time consuming than painting up
I really like the camo screen/blind material that you use on that bungee wrap, and I use it too. Extremely lightweight, and see-through when need be. Another camo giveaway is when something in the environment either moves or doesn't move like the stuff around it. This screen material blows in the wind just like the vegetation around it. Excellent stuff to add.
I definitely love the new video on camouflage but I keep coming back to these old videos the content is so good. I have not much use for these videos personally but they are entertaining. Keep up the good work sir.
Thanks bro, you gave me a ton of ideas and taught me a lot I didn't know. Tom, I got a great deal on a Camelback BFM in ACU. I promptly dyed it green and then spray painted it. It turned out fairly well. I may do a short vid on how it turned out.
During the Vietnam war a lot of the special force guys would camouflage their M16's by applying 100 ph tape. I seen several examples in photos, it did a pretty good job of breaking up the rifles outline. And then you have the famous Rhodesian "baby poop" camo paint job which is my personal favorite.
An added benefit to using a veil is that when draped over your objective lens it minimizes reflective flash or "the black hole" that can reveal your position to an observer.
One thing I like to do with some of my equipment is to take some kind of material that is of some kind of camo pattern, and sew it on. Obviously you can't do this with issued gear, but for personal stuff it works great. I use it on most things with a solid color, I:e, my chest rig, field cap, misc. pouches, etc. etc.
I spray painted my L1A1 over 15 years ago with Krylon camouflage spray paint, and I'm thinking of doing it to my VZ-24 with a modern style synthetic stock. The paint is a little worn now, but still breaks up the FALs lines. When I was in the Philippines my unit went through a Operational Readiness Inspection, and my Security Police flight (platoon) were told to cami up our helmets. They handed out burlap strips and camo net bits. I laid the camo net material over my helmet and then wove the burlap into the holes of both it and the helmet. We also tied burlap strips to the straps of our LBE harness, and tried to tie them to the barrels of our rifles, but that didn't work out too well.
I saw a way to camouflage a pack that would weigh ten times less. You just get 2-3 wire circles differentiating in size and attach two wood beams in a cross. Then get natural vegetation and place within.
Great Info. Marine Something we did in Army Recon Units is on that Ranger Band, we secured those by gutting 550 and tying the band at the 8 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions to the inside of the ACH. Just some extra info. meant to be constructive. We build a better team with continuous exchange of info. and training, right? ;-) HOOAH!
Seen that too, or you can tie bunny ear loops from the nape straps of the ACH that secure the band. In a pinch on a ftx patrol last year I took gutted 550 and tied it around my ACH making the Ranger band and ran it through the NOD mount and secured it in back with a strip of green duct tape. I was surprised how well it worked and left it there until just recently. My ACH is painted so I don't run a cover.
Hey Brent, this was great content ten years ago. However, the battlefield has evolved and now even non-state actors are deploying with NVGs to include IR and Thermal, along with inexpensive software-defined receivers that enable HF and RF direction finding capabilities. Commercial drone platforms and embedded/ad hoc sensors extend the range of observation with high-angle vantage points and Beyond Line of Sight signals intelligence collection. I've contacted a number of manufacturers who make individual kit, asking them if their fabrics, dyes, and coatings are NIR Compliant, and the number of negative or "it varies" responses is alarming. Would love to see an updated discussion of broad spectrum signature management. "Acta non Verba"
another way to secure the ranger band is to use 550 chord and make a loop that is on the inside of the cover through the holes in the cover, and tie those from the ranger band to the helmet harness on the inside... holding the ranger band down...it holds it in place...it works excellent, and no shiny metal...safety pins can give off a silver glint...
we should mail him the gear pattern camo we want so he ain't Goin broke to buy 59 different set ups! thanks for the vids dude.... you're a patriot. ...wish we had more
I'd be interested if you shared your green berey type Ideology and psychology ideas. By any chance do you have any videos on military optics vs camo? Or perhaps can you make a video on how to best avoid being seen by their optics during the day and night? Maybe I'm asking the wrong questions here, but with that said, your channel is where I come for this type of useful information regarding camouflage
Incredible guide, excellent work. Added this to favorites and will be using soon. 22:46 I just laughed from looking at the completely wrong side of the screen
Camouflaging, such fun, I remember when I was in the cadets and we did had a lesson on this. We went out to hid in the bush and was in the best spot, except for two things, although there was bush in front of my face it was way to spare and when my corporal shined the torch on me my white face stood out, I lost all hope of staying hidden, good fun.
All of this is Old School and very helpful. But Thermal Evasion is what is needed to survive Modern Warfare. I would love to see a video on that. One decent FLIR scope can spot someone in the midst of all that camo.
We also do lots of guerrilla warfare and are trained in what we call in our country, "masking" or camouflage. We used different techniques but are very effective too, geat video. How to Camouflage Your Rifle - AKS-74
im impressed with the FG version, both are very organic patterns...when i got mine, a friend of mine said "you got those dirty? what a ripoff...you going to return those or wash them?" and i just laughed and said "thats how they come" so right out of the box it looks like something you see out in the grass and mud...
Good video. I got my hands on an old army "Soldiers basic task book," and it was nice to see the tactics for finding camouflage work, as well as you providing a visual for what face paint should generally look like. Very well made video, you just got another sub.
Great video. I am going to send this to my Joes because most of them have never done this. Apparently most of this they do not even teach combat arms soldiers anymore as a basic task...but they are going to get to do it this weekend and is now SOP when in the field.
Great face camo video. Most of even the military face camo tutorials miss the blending stage, and just have solid colors that have defined borders between the colors.
I noticed that, I thought it was some Hollywood-only goofups seeing non-blended face camo but it looks like many folks don't blend. I recently painted all the furniture and my plastic-coated 40rd banana mag on my Romanian AK-47 olive drab to help break it up a tad. I'll definitely be adding a coyote brown to it, haven't decided on a specific pattern though but we have a double action airbrush ready to go! Awesome tips ***** love all your vids, stay at it brother.
This is a really good video so can you make a video about, what if there was a situation where you had to fall back before you were seen. Now is going to be the enemy or you and you have a ghillie with you. This is the first Video of yours that I have seen of yours I will look in case you made one already.
Just recently found your videos. You have some good info. Glad to see youre sharing with the younger crowd. I grew up in the outdoors and shooting. The amount of things not being taught anymore is staggering. Even just moving and stalking. Listening to birds and wildlife. Basic field craft. Guys going out into the danger zone that have never stalked animals or read sign. They can fill out a form for college though.
Brent thank you for the video. Could you do a video that goes more in-depth on how to camouflage say an dark OD tactical vest. How do you decide on colors, types of spray paint. Camo patterns, etc. After watching so many of your videos it will be a pleasure to meet you at One Shepherd in 2020 if you are there.
It would be great if you could get " Jietai " aka : Japanese flecktarn. REALLY GOOD in tropical environment, but close to impossible to get. Its Better than original flecktarn because it has more contrast and does not turn too dark.
Sir,I loved the button trick for slipping into the camo helmet cover holes. Can you post water crossing and emergency ditching of gear? An old "0311" told me to tie everything with stripped 550 cord. He mentioned ground pounders fill their Camelbacks with air or seal their "Sneaky Pete" Alice pack liner with air to act as floatation. Just brain storming cool video ideas for you. P.S. Sounded like WWII dog fight overhead on your vid LOL. -Semper Paratus
One thing for camo wraps I've done is use Burlap Wrap and wrapped my scopes and the forward part of my rifles ans painted it and you can easily make a great wrap that breaks up the original shape.
In the UK we have webbing / battle belt with a harness and we put a bungee cord around the utility pouches and we stuff grass and it works pretty dam well
Wow marine you have a real m 16- A1 that what I slept with 4 years ya nice job I use to do that over seas keep up the good work and thank you for your service god bless
Simple and effective. I would like an expert opinion on different cammo pattern, like mossy oak versus military patterns and why the military uses what they do.
the difference between military and hunting camouflage is military camouflage is supposed to work in multiple environments while hunting camouflage is designed for certain areas at specific seasons
I like this channel he doesnt talk too much he talks only about the matter at hand
Derrick Tran Glad you enjoy it.
One of the best instructors on UA-cam!
Yeah, I like him.

I found with a baseball cap you can put a shoelace through the breathing holes and then use that to put vegetation through the same way you can on a boonie and helmet :)
Name Great Tip!!!
genius but does it ever get too hot? and does the front part ever get in the way?
Well you'd have to use a cap that is color coordinate to your environment. And you'd have to make new holes to help your head cool.
Great idea
Arian Labbaf not really its what i used on my ghillie since i couldnt find my old boonie
I had some surplus ww2 helmet nets that were OD green i used one of those and some 550 cord. Love your videos , brought back good memories from my Army days from 86-2006 also like your keep it simple concept , by not going over board.
Thanks brother.
Dude,
Seriously epic vid.
Most comprehensive and informative presentation on the subject I've seen; by FAR!
Thanks man
I love your videos Brent. You're a great help, fun to watch, straight to the point with no bullshit, no little video tricks and stuff, just really sincere, believable and assistant(if that can be used as an adjective), regards from Suid Afrika and the Boers.

The location you are in is so similar to the Australian Bush, Cicadas, Scrub and all. Great camouflage, loved the examples at the end. Terrifying.
wow those cicadas
william bryant They're annoying aren't they.
+Brent0331 Which Branch of the Military Do You Belong to?
+Mike Cunningham Marines
+Brent0331 no thats the new army camouflage wtf you aint no marine marines wear digital camo i know cause im the marines
lol this guy. Guess the videos of me in Afghanistan, or the pictures on my google plus page are not me. I didn't know I was required to wear digital camies in everything I did in life. THANKS DEVEL!
Wow, this popped up after 10 years, lol. It's amazing you have been doing this 10 years now. It's been a great journey Brother. Semper Fi!
Yeah its been a journey. Ha
As a fellow American all I want to say is thank you for your service and God bless
Thanks brother. I appreciate it.
A true master of camoflage,..Truly knows his trade...Excellent vid Brent0331 !!!
Thanks brother, I'm no master of camouflage brother, just teaching a few infantry related techniques. Thanks for watching.

Excellent video, Marine! I like how you take the time to demo the effectiveness of your camp applications.
+Mike Masztal Thanks brother.
I don't know but don't u have pay for m4 if you tag on it. Like u have to keep it black and no cuts on gun
I really like the camo screen/blind material that you use on that bungee wrap, and I use it too. Extremely lightweight, and see-through when need be. thank you so much for the videos, i know it takes a lot of effort, thought, and time to make these. I see the hard work, thanks brother.
Thanks man, I appreciate.
The camo tape is great! I would never use the elastic camo rifle wrap. Great video, lots of good information! Thanks!
This is what I am looking for, very useful for my own safety, thank you for the learner, greetings from INDONESIA
The most versatile camo I've ever used is German 44 dot camo
Pencott Greenzone's got my vote
Edit: Well maybe not the most versatile :) but definitely the best in most manner of woodland/green grassland
I use the splinter camo
I loved rainbow 6 Vegas 2 as well!
Flactarn is the best
@@samuelmmmk181
I've never played that game before
Thank you for your service and your advice is most appreciated and great video! Thank you.

Man, you knock it out of the ballpark again... Awesome!
Ghillie suits are kinda intimidating, aren't they? Anyone wearing one looks so freakin savage and primitive. Love it!
I love this channel, few words, just enough.
Brilliant! I thing the wrap worked better on the BLACK rifle, seemed to do better, more "Natural" light/ shadow contrasts
also disagree but if black then make it a lighter grayer shade of black.
LOVE THE A1!!!!!!!
great video!!!!
Brent 0331, the grand master of military camaflauge!!!!🤜🤛🇺🇸🇺🇸
Best camo video I've seen yet
We build a better team with continuous exchange of info. and training, right? ;-) HOOAH!
+Jason Hoss Thanks brother, I'm all about the continuous flow of information on this channel. Post it up.
My ACH is painted so I don't run a cover.

great video, loved trying to find you at the end. had the whole family looking.

another way to secure the ranger band is to use 550 chord and make a loop that is on the inside of the cover through the holes in the cover, and tie those from the ranger band to the helmet harness on the inside... holding the ranger band down...it holds it in place...it works excellent, and no shiny metal...safety pins can give off a silver glint...
Outstanding series, thank you for taking the time.

I remember in basic ( 1986) when they demonstrated a soldier without camo and then a soldier with camo!! It's amazing what a little paint can do!!
Agreed!
Its good to see an old school M-16 with a 20 round clip. Awesome!!!!!

Jenny Oliver It's a mag
Jenny Oliver not a clip

If you ask for a clip for your M16, all I would give you is a metal strip with the rounds on it.
You make the best videos on UA-cam. I'm only 13 but I'm really interested in the military.
BJB Thanks
One thing for camo wraps I've done is use Burlap Wrap and wrapped my scopes and the forward part of my rifles ans painted it and you can easily make a great wrap that breaks up the original shape.
In the UK we have webbing / battle belt with a harness and we put a bungee cord around the utility pouches and we stuff grass and it works pretty dam well
Wow marine you have a real m 16- A1 that what I slept with 4 years ya nice job I use to do that over seas keep up the good work and thank you for your service god bless
this is the coolest video I've ever seen
Woll Smoth Thanks.
You where fairly easy to see in the end shots but, still very effective. I would love to see how the full sniper setup works.
Excellent work. Thanks for the instruction
No problem man, thanks.
It's all fun and dandy until your enemy has a thermal scope.
Not many militaries give those out, they are expensive as fuck.
$5000 generally. Cheapest is $500 but doesn't work very well and has super short distance
I'm so hot that the thermals die pc information overload. They won't see me cumming but they will feel it.
I like the paint job done on your ar 15. nice jobs brother
Thanks
