- Short answer - YES! The huge tone of Adam Jones on a tiny amp. I show you the settings and let you hear what I hear.

Huge tone! I was looking forward to try it on my KATANA-AIR, and the result was so real! Thanks! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
did a passable job for sure, maybe a bit to much reverb but still sounded great! impressed.
sounded great.
Well done Sir !!!
You earned a sub based on that hat alone. Love Lagwagon
Cheers Colby! Listen to them every day. What do you think of Railer?
it was great 😙
Dude, you have to check the hx stomp!! Nice vid as always...
Gonna try this on my waza airs!
Boss Katana 100w amp, Morley little alligator volume pedal, Boss BC-2, Boss DD-6, Boss BF-3, Maestro CH-70, and a Boss GE-7 is the closest sound I've gotten to Adam Jones tone. Its not perfect but its getting there.
Ditch the reverb for a flanger and it would have been on the money!
Good Lord!!!!! Small box ... big Adam Tones (see what I did there)
I see what you did there 😂
Well played!
Will you do a ride the lightning tone with a boss katana next ? (Ride the lightning the album , not just the song ) thanks !!
Would have been good to see the setting without effects
Stumbling onto your channel has saved me hours of crawling thru forums looking for answers on a few occasions now. Thank you.
Did you try the vh4 pedal thru a katana? I was especially curious how it would sound thru the 'Power Amp In(put)'
I'm afraid I don't have a standard Katana with an fx loop to be able to take advantage of the Power Amp. I have done a demo in my FAQ 001 video on how the VH4 pedal sounds through the Marshall Origin Pre-Amp and Power Amp staging.
@@BasementGAS I am really thinking of buying a VH4 pedal after hearing how my boss mk2 2x12 sounds. I don't think it does a passable job for Tool. I just can't get a good Adam Jones tone with it man. Do you think I can use the katana as a power amp and cab for a VH4 pedal and get a flawless sound?
@@Cymanytb You might be able to get pretty close. A 4x12 cabinet really helps define the tone though. That's why I use IRs.
@@BasementGAS Thanks for the answer and tips man. But I don't think i can use an IR with the Katana cause it's got its own cab thingy. Also, do you think putting a tube distortion pedal like the vh4 one in an fx loop of a digital solid state amp on a clean channel sound the same as the tube pedal with a tube amp?
Have you uploaded this patch anywhere by chance?
👍 nice job, I was thinking of purchasing the new Boss Katana MKII. Would probably do the Jones Tones pretty well. What do you think?
I think it would do a brilliant job. The amp simulation on the Katana series are impressive and since Jones uses a lot of Boss pedals anyway which are built in. So yeah, go for it.
I'm new to the digital world I bought a scarlet solo gen 3 yesterday and got reaper as a daw any recommendations for plug ins I'm wanting to try to get Adam's sound I downloaded the free fortin nameless and it's good but didn't know if you could recommend any free things or what I should try
Free + good sounding is difficult. Something I can recommend is Bias Fx (from my very first Adam Jones video). It's reasonably priced and you can get some ground sounds out of it especially for recording and home use. It works with any DAW, so reaper as well.
@@BasementGAS thank you I'll check it out
Nice. Pull back on the gain however.
Far too much gain and presence but definitely in the ballpark. Adam's direct sound has a very dry. punchy tone that isn't very compressed or overly gainy. When he adds delay/flanger/etc his primary tone still shines through pretty clearly and the initial attack is still pretty much dry.
Without effects, I like the drive... Maybe less reverb and the overall will sound better at least from my speakers here 6,000 miles away :)
Yeah, I've heard that several times now. Less reverb. Noted! I was going for a bit of a live sound and if you've ever heard Tool live it just sounds so huge and epic and the music really fills the hall or festival area. It's hard to get that in a basement so that's why I add the reverb...but it is too much. 6000 miles? Where are you?
@@BasementGAS I'm assuming that you live in the lonely city... from Dubai it is almost 6,000 KM (not miles).
Keep up the good work!
@@mrabihnaboulsi79 New York? No, I live in Bavaria, Germany. Never been to Dubai before.
@@BasementGAS I thought Berlin :) , come here for a Jam :D

Not a fan of this type of guitar soind in any shape or form but have to say its a massively impressive piece of kit the air. And you got a great rich full tone from it
Way too much gain, either below 12 on the lead setting or swap to the crunch.
Not enough EQ, probably dime the mids and treble and use the tone knob on the guitar to choke the high mids a little. I know Adam has one VH4 everyone knows the settings on but that second VH4 he has the presence and treble up higher at like 5 o clock or more. On my VH4 this tone is much closer than the picture of the settings everyone is familiar with.
Second option might be too many lows, back off those a lot and the high mids might come through more.
Sweet, thanks for the info. Would you post a vid showing your tone with your VH4?
Swing and a miss
My Batting Average (.325) is still pretty solid though.
