The answer to all this negativity in the world at the moment is Paul McCartney. His voice may be showing it's age but his attitude to life is still 100% positive and he projects this in his concerts. This not a question of nostalgia, this is what the world needs for the future.
I lived near Sir Paul in Sussex, we met him and Linda many times and had nice chats. He is a lovely man, very much a family man. He is probably the greatest bass player ever and a fantastic songwriter ever.yes, he is super rich and lives on an estate that is massive. He has given his life to music, the public and at 80, is still functioning like a 30 year old. Yes, his voice has deteriorated but he still has an aura and was a Beatle. His live shows bring tears to the eye, now, that is awesome. Thank you Sir Paul, you are still the man.
You speak the truth my friend.Who cares if his voice isnt what it was?Hes Macca .He was my reason for picking up a bass at age 14 in 1966,and still is (crowding 70 now)In my day anyone over 30 was well past it.But 80,and still rocking?Wow,what guy and what an example to us all.
I’m 69...I agree with you 100%. It’s the experience and the memories the songs bring back. He is a living treasure...the most successful Songwriter in History!!I was watching the Ed Sullivan Show on February 9, 1964. The Beatles lifted the spirit of our Country after the assassination of President Kennedy in November last... I also took my Daughter to see Ringo and his All Star Band in 2010. She knew the words to almost every song of the various artists. Keep up the GREAT Work!!!
I saw him in 2013 and he was great. If you haven't seen him and can afford it go see him. If you have seen him before, hold on to your memories of Paul at his peak and skip this one. That is my plan. Bless him and how much he has added to our world. He has been super human for a long time.
Music is a people's game and people vote with their wallets. People have and continue to overwhelming vote yes on Macca. My Father used to say, be a fountain not a drain and Sir Paul continues to be a wonderful fountain.
I saw him in 89 and 2007..both were amazing and I feel blessed. My daughter saw him last year..i declined to go..she cried thru the whole show because it is honestly a religious experience...i will always love him
I saw his tour opener in Spokane. It was the best concert I have ever seen. Was he in top voice? I don't really care. No one is going to sing as well as he did from 1972-1980. It was probably my one and only chance to see a Beatle live, and it was worth every penny.
I am with you on this.....In general our society has lost its capability to have and show respect, manners, grace and a whole host of other positive attributes toward other people and things. It is sad and needs to change or I fear our society in general is lost.
Saw Paul in concert last night in Los Angeles. Whike his voice isn’t as strong it used to be, he was amazing! It was one of the best shows of my life. And I’m 63 years old! So, he could certainly stood the test of time. Go see Paul McCartney. He will not be sorry!
Thank u for the most passionate heart felt rant i think i ever heard. Bottom line :yes enjoy the old folks while they last (all ages really) soak up all their stories & pass them on!!!
Paul keeps on singing and playing, not because he needs to. People buys ticket to see him, not because they don't have other choice. So bravo, historian!
I live in St. Pauli wich is a rough place in Hamburg. Paul Mc Cartney knows this place very well. He can do what he wants and his last record was great. But I want to tell you something. The Beatles were the first Pop Band ever. This is what makes them special. They have made the first Punk, the first Psychodelic and even the first Rap. All combined with Classical influence. They have been the first "Boygroup" ever and their cultural impact has changed the world. A Rock Band is something else.
I think you make some good points. I saw Bob Dylan a few years ago. I like a lot of Bob's early stuff. Of course this was not that Bob. I don't like his voice as much now, but at the same time, like you said, he was out there and there is something to be said for that. I am glad I got to see him live even though he only sang one of his old songs, She Belongs to Me, which I sang along with. I still enjoyed the concert. As to musicians that have died, 2 of my favorites died earlier this year. Wayne Shorter of Weather Report died March 2, 2023. Weather Report was a band I was into in the mid/late 70s. I got to see them once in 78 or so and it was a great concert even though one of the reviewers said they had an off night(!) He and Joe Zawinul worked really well together and made some amazing music. The other is Jeff Beck who died on January 10, 2023. I saw him twice, both probably within the last 7 years. He played a lot of of the jazz at both concerts which I LOVED! He was on my short list of musicians I'd google occasionally to see if there were any concerts near me. But if he had stopped touring when he was say 65, or decided not to come to America after 65, I never would have seen him as he was in his 70s or near 70s both times I saw him. So yes, when these older musicians tour, they still can put on a really good show and give fans like me memories of seeing them live.
Curse my parents but I was born with a love for the rockers of their generation but born too late to see them in their prime. It wasn't till 2018 when I was a high schooler that I went to my first concert, Billy Joel, and then the next year to Paul McCartney. I'm going to the Fenway show in less than a month and cannot wait. I'm familiar with how Paul sounds on this tour and that doesn't bother me. What matters most to me is seeing a BEATLE play before 30,000 people in one of America's most revered stadiums and the experience and magic of those moments.
I saw the Rolling Stones last tour. It was not the Jagger of 1983, however, he was not shaky, did not break, ran around so much I got tired watching. Yes, the level of fun on stage was infectious. Great time. After the show, people still whinged. Challenge accepted. The real Presley, Morrison, McCartney, Domino and Buddy Rich and the Shade of Robert Johnson run a juke joint deep in the Mississippi Delta. (imagine bulging bloodshot eyes and spittle, yeah and a can of PBR, Russia's finest.) Agreed, by the way.
My daughter and husband were going to fly out to Seattle for that opening show. I discouraged it bc of how he’s singing. I prefer to remember the Paul McCartney who was the finest all-around singer I’ve ever heard. I’ve seen him twice in concert (‘90, Chicago, ‘10, SLC), and both times were awesome.
@@sg-yq8pm I took my family to see him in 2010, when his voice was still strong. She already loves his music and knows he’s a legend. I didn’t force her to not see him. She decided that she’d rather remember him in better form. Plus, since her husband doesn’t really know much about McCartney, she didn’t want him to have an impression of someone whose singing abilities are probably 20% of what they once were. It’s a bit difficult to hear him sing now. If you watch Wings Over America, you’ll see that his voice carried the other band members. Now, with his current band, it’s the opposite.
You are spot on to what you are saying. You are correct about the soapbox society trying to rule our perspective! Sir Paul is one of the greatest, respect and dignity should be given to all. And especially to one who paved the way musically to many past and current artists. Rock on Sir Paul!
Great video, lots of truth. I grew up with The Beatles. When you're one of the world's most beloved musicians, you go out and play until you no longer can.
The best way to see Paul now is to listen with your eyes. You'll enjoy it. Yes Paul still sings but for most of the songs his band carries him and sing in unison with him to keep it sounding tight. It's a great show and of course it's one of the Beatles but don't fool yourself that he's doesn't sound rough, he does.
I just finished watching your video. Yes I'm one of those jerks. The way you put it in prospective really made me think. I'm a 70 year old big beatle fan but more than that a fan of music in general. I constantly criticized Mc Cartney. I want to thank you for opening up my eyes and you being 100% right. Rock On
We need more people in the world like us my friend. When we are presented with another way of thinking we analyze and possibly change our position on something… too many people refuse to admit that they might be wrong
Most of the rock singers from the last 60 years can't carry a tune like before! But seeing these icons is more than just their voice but their energy and presence! Now if they forget the words or their energy is zapped then it's time to retire! I would rather see an artist who sings with what they have then to have them use vocal tracks! Good vid!
He sounds better at 80 than most of his peers who are 25 years younger than him. No autotune, no lip sync and no bs. Respect to Sir Paul And he also sings a majority of the songs in the original key which isn't a good idea but c'mon the fact he does that is insane
as these rockers go away there is an attempt to erase their affect on the world....from 1950 to 2000 some of the best sounds were created that were the sound track to the immense societal changes that swept over the world at that time.....many spectacular events/changes occurred ....reality is a projectile that constantly changes but we are in a phase now of moronic denial of these changes....i hear the phrase "traditional family values" and snicker....nothing is traditional, it simply is what it is at that particular time....paul is changing, we are all changing...go with reality people and though i have never seen paul in person, he should be allowed to be who he is now......
I was 13 when the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan (you can do the math) and loved the Beatles (still do). As people age, their physical abilities change, and most singers, particularly ones who sing like Paul or Frankie Valli, lose the ability to sing as they did, unlike singers who stay within certain dynamic parameters, like Tony Bennet or Rosemary Clooney, who can usually defy the aging process almost until the end. Speaking of sports, if Magic, Bird, Michael, Kareem etc. got together to play a game for charity at $100 a ticket, would you go expecting to see the players they used to be? As you said just being there enjoying yourself, watching some players you used to love who were once great is what makes the price of admission worth it. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts. Regards.
Seeing McCartney in this the twilight of his career is a bit like looking at the fossil of a dinosaur. It’s amazing to simply see the fossil despite it being just a shadow of its former self.
Sir Paul is the greatest Rock legend alive and better than those who have died ! I do hope though when he headlines Glastonbury a week after his 80th birthday he leaves on a high !! He is a LEGEND !!!! Oh by the way I believe almost all of the profits go to charity from most of his tours ! And brilliant synopsis and totally agree about him being dead Ha Ha ! Total tossers !
I read a story of a concert pianist who lived to about 93 years. And he gave a concert at 92 years, despite suffering from crippling arthroses in his hands. He would wake up every morning and sit at the piano and start playing. It sounded like a 4 year old pounding the keyboard. But as his fingers freed up, he would play scales, then chords, then arpeggios, and only after several hours would he practice his more difficult pieces. He willed his hands to maintain their suppleness. And his would perform in the evenings. And the next day he'd start his routine again. A voice? That's different. Would I go see Paul McCartney? Yes. I'd also go see Roger Waters, but his voice has gotten stronger with the years. Not for singing, but for his actions. He has shouted out for all the injustices in the world and I appreciate him for it. I remember Susan Tedeschi and that guy she married had a concert and played some singers (sorry, I forgot their names) who were probably in their 70s and didn't want to sing. She insisted that there was more to music than hitting the notes perfectly, and it was the person and the history behind the song. Great concert. There is a video and it's well worth the view. Bon courage with your son.
I just saw him at Fenway the other night. I saw the stones at Gillette stadium a few years back and felt robbed by their effort. 45 minutes of bum notes without an encore. Paul is not doing that he’s giving you his best but it’s almost sad. It is very very bad to the point where it’s almost uncomfortable and I’d be shocked if this tour is completed. It’s bad.
There is no definite answer as this will depend on what people primarily want to see from a McCartney concert. If you want nostalgia, a good ol' sing along, special effects then there is probably reason to pay to see him. I am a big Paul fan but I am also a huge fan of great vocals and harmonies. With the later you could say the band is essential and helps cover many flaws but for me I find Paul's singing to be unbearable so naturally I cringe and avoid listening to anything he performs live these days. That does not mean I don't respect him. It is purely a personal opinion based on my individual reaction to what I hear. That will always have a factual and an opinion related component to the view taken. I am not trying to discourage anyone from sharing my opinion but equally I am entitled to hold my view as long as there is nothing malicious behind it. And there isn't. McCartney is a living legend who still puts out great music. For me his live singing is woeful to the point I can be around to listen to it. Others still enjoy listening to him live and good for them. I am glad they can still enjoy Paul live.
Being on the wrong side of 60 I can somewhat sympathize with the McCartneys of the rock world. Most folks who are in the popular music world have nothing else they can do w/their lives. Since they were teens being successful in music is all they wanted. Very few are educated, few are notably intelligent. This is the only thing nearly any of them know how to do. No matter how much money Sir Paul, Pete Townsend, et.al., have they need to do something (no Macca pun intended!) and this is pretty much all they know in life.
You said it, pal. Paul is like a beacon of hope in an increasingly dismal world, harkening back to the days when people had a different attitude about life. It was all about fun and creativity, then. I was born in '54, so I remember what it was like. Paul takes us back again, and lets us know that life is still worth it. And btw, his name isn't Faul.
FFS - it's Paul McCartney, people. He can do what he likes. He's a freakin' Beatle! He's written some of the most enduring songs of all time. He's an icon on two legs. Paul can rock until he's dead ... and even after that apparently ... (if you believe those rumours).
MCCARTNEY NOW 80 YEARS OLD YOU EXCEPT HIS VOICE TO WEAR OUT. OR REACH SAME WAYS 4O YEARS AGO ALBUMS LIKE RAM BAND ON THE RUN. VENUS AND MARS AND SO ON BIG. LOVER OF THOSE ALBUMS. THOUGH . TO YOUNG TO SEE HIM ANYWAY I SAY LET PAUL ENJOY THE GIGS AND THE PEOPLE THAT GOES TOO. HE'S IS AND RINGO THE LAST. OF THAT BAND THE BEATLES GETTING ON IN YEARS NOW PEACE AND LOVE CHEERS
Who the f is anybody to say one way or another? You want to tour? Do it! Make new music? Why not? I'm getting to the age where I'm just about sick with people telling folks they're too old for...anything. Shit, I'm an OG punk rocker! I turn 65 in August! Am I supposed to just start listening to Kenny G and shopping for pastel flower prints at Walmart? But let me leave you with a thought: Pete Townshend, in 1965 wrote, "I hope I die before I get old". Think he changed his mind? ;)
As much as hes givin us , even if it cost a few $ . Im sure not gona complain . Hes got my vote if he can still sing or not . And i understand hes one of the nicest people on the planet .
My only problem with older artists is some show up way out of shape to perform and are under rehearsed . Paul would never do that. He looks great and still can still play his bass. Think of EVH he could still play his ass off toward the end but he stopped jumping of a marshall stacks while playing killer licks years ago. It's a privilege and honor to grow old. It's not a guarantee that I can promise you.
Paul McCartney's voice is definitely a wee bit rough now after MANY years of hard singing. However, my advice to anyone who has a problem with that is, get over it! The guy is neary eighty (EIGHTY)!!! Also, he's not only a singer! He's still (in my opinion) the best bassist that has ever lived, an awesome guitarist, a god of a pianist, a brilliant drummer, and much more!!! Sorry for the rant... not!
Yes, the tickets may be expensive but isn't it worth it to say you saw Paul in concert even if his voice isn't what it used to be? As for me, at 72 I'd have loved to have been able to afford to see him. I did, however, see him in 1964 (with 3 other guys) for $5.50.
I have mixed feelings about Paul carrying on. In a way I agree with you that he brings much happiness, but if his voice continues to deteriorate I think it will be incredibly sad to remember him that way. There are always great tribute bands who recreate him in his prime.
My favorite Beatles have passed unfortunately. There is no way Paul could have the range he once had. I think John and George would’ve kept writing some chart topping tunes. Paul doesn’t seem to have the chops anymore.
Up until their deaths, John and George( my two favorite too ) together weren't as proficient as Paul where charting songs are concerned. Also, there are very few who can constantly put out good music decade after decade. Tom Petty did it.
The man is a 100 years old give him a break if anything it's worth the money to just see a show by a icon one last time how much longer can the guy last tge last Beatle worth going just to see him live one more time he will be dead tomorrow and you will regret not going
I have mixed feelings on this. I paid $500 in 2020 to sit in the nosebleeds and watch the Stones mail in a 45 minute set without so much as an encore. Which wasn’t so bad seeing as there must have been a better Stones cover band playing in every bar in every town in the country. BUT I can say I saw the Stones. Bottom line is if you’re a billionaire and let’s face it you know you don’t sound good and people are turning up to see you not hear you. At that point lower the damn price
I think the main reason Robert Plant doesn't reunite with Zeppelin is because he understands that he can no longer properly belt out "Communication Breakdown" or "Whole Lotta Love." Nothing shameful about that, but I like his solution. Adapt to a fresh style of music within his current vocal range. Although I love Paul and always will--and at the risk of adding more negativity into the world--I sort of wish Paul would take the same approach to his career. Stop trying to scream "Helter Skelter." As far as society is concerned, they need to be more open-minded about new music. Stop clinging to the past. If I want to hear "Helter Skelter" I can always crank up the White Album. Seeing Paul live today would be more musically interesting to me if he adapted his approach to what works for him now. Just my two cents.
I don't mind too much that he has lost his voice. That's to be expected. (Except for John Fogerty, who sounds as good as ever!). But what bothers me is that Paul doesn't seem to enjoy performing like he used to. He just isn't into it anymore. Maybe that's to be expected too, after performing for 60 years.
They,re all to old . Jagger , Richards , Tyler , Young , Gillan the list goes on and on . Men of Around 70 plus trying to pretend they're young again and attempting to relive past glories...Pathetic .
Many of us face a reality of transforming from (a) vibrant, lucid, youthful energy into a drooling vacant moribund old hide. I think Sir McCartney is trending to the latter.
I did not think my reply through. My apologies to all I may have offended, it is neither witty or compelling. I hope Sir McCartney can bring joy, peace and entertainment to a world in need of what he does for as long as he can. Once again apologies for a stupid insensitive comment. Thanks
The problem with Paul McCartney is that he insists on singing in the same key he sang in the 1960s. He won’t lower the key to fit his new old voice. That’s why it shows more
As I've watched videos from his recent shows and hearing his voice just makes me cringe. He can tour until he drops dead on stage but my days of going to see him live are over. I've been a fan since 1964 but he honestly should drop the songs down a key. I saw Frankie Valli last September but if he was lip synching he sure fooled me.
I did that watching somebody's video of his concert for free here on youtube without paying $1k or more. It wasn't great, even for free. But if somebody invited me, I'd go. His last few records sucked horribly and sold well, so ...
If you can't do at all, you criticize. Jealousy is a horrible thing that makes the world a backward place. The naysayers are insanely jealous. If you don't like him, don't listen. Pretty simple. If he didn't want to do it, he would stop. If you don't like the man or his audience, be happy he takes them away from your personal space one concert at a time. Hopefully they don't feel the same way about their own choice in musicians to champion. You could imagine the backlash then.
I’d rather listen to 80 year old McCartney than: Axl Rose, Eddy Vedder, the dead guys from Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Linkin Park, Nirvana; Lady GaGa, Adele, Jon Bon Jovi, Hanna Miley Montana, Madonna, Slim Shady, 50 cent, Canyay Yeezy, Dua Lipa, Wet Ass Pussy, Steven Tyler……
You believe he still cooks and cleans for himself?? The guys got more money that God and he doesn’t hire a cook? Very down to earth person to this day. He’s the one guy I would literally chop my own arm off to meet.
The answer to all this negativity in the world at the moment is Paul McCartney. His voice may be showing it's age but his attitude to life is still 100% positive and he projects this in his concerts. This not a question of nostalgia, this is what the world needs for the future.

It's a great show and of course it's one of the Beatles but don't fool yourself that he's doesn't sound rough, he does.
Very well stated. I totally agree with you.
Well said from a true music fan
Most of the rock singers from the last 60 years can't carry a tune like before! But seeing these icons is more than just their voice but their energy and presence! Now if they forget the words or their energy is zapped then it's time to retire! I would rather see an artist who sings with what they have then to have them use vocal tracks! Good vid!
He sounds better at 80 than most of his peers who are 25 years younger than him. No autotune, no lip sync and no bs. Respect to Sir Paul
And he also sings a majority of the songs in the original key which isn't a good idea but c'mon the fact he does that is insane
Johnny Cash's greatest recording was made right before he died. Let Paul do his thing.
No one can throw shade at Paul McCartney! Ever! David Gilmour, they spread Love and Positivity! They make the world better!
Well said boss..
well done thanks
Very good thoughts. Agree 100%.
Thanks!
as these rockers go away there is an attempt to erase their affect on the world....from 1950 to 2000 some of the best sounds were created that were the sound track to the immense societal changes that swept over the world at that time.....many spectacular events/changes occurred ....reality is a projectile that constantly changes but we are in a phase now of moronic denial of these changes....i hear the phrase "traditional family values" and snicker....nothing is traditional, it simply is what it is at that particular time....paul is changing, we are all changing...go with reality people and though i have never seen paul in person, he should be allowed to be who he is now......
Regards.
I've seen him twice in 2009 and 2022. I thought in 2009 his voice was still great, but was showing his age this past time
Seeing McCartney in this the twilight of his career is a bit like looking at the fossil of a dinosaur.
(Warning) EPIC TANGENT... Haha 👍... Classic
My 73 year old grandpa is still working a job at 73.
BOTTOM LINE : The world is a better place with Paul alive and performing. Some day we won't be able to say that, and that will be sad...

You're right tho, only a dictator would presume to say what other folks should or shouldn't do. All I can say is what I will or won't do.
Too old!! Too fat!! Too skinny!! Clothes!! Bla bla bla!!! Rock and roll people, stop caring about this stuff and do what you want!!
Your English is terrible. Please, have some self-respect and comment with proper grammar and syntax. We are adults here.
It’s Paul Mcartney……enough said. End of discussion lol.
Paul didn't die in 1966 but the world is flat and birds have been replaced. ;)
😂
I did, however, see him in 1964 (with 3 other guys) for $5.50.
a fukn treasure.
I agree!
Yes
I have mixed feelings on this. I paid $500 in 2020 to sit in the nosebleeds and watch the Stones mail in a 45 minute set without so much as an encore. Which wasn’t so bad seeing as there must have been a better Stones cover band playing in every bar in every town in the country. BUT I can say I saw the Stones. Bottom line is if you’re a billionaire and let’s face it you know you don’t sound good and people are turning up to see you not hear you. At that point lower the damn price
He can sell out any venue in the world even if he sang nursery rhymes
....But.......indeed well said.
PS: GH, Syd Barrett? Thanks.
No matter how old he( paul McCartney ) he is still a (BEATLE) sogove the guy a break
If you do not like social media, then stay off of it. Did so myself a few years ago and do not miss it at all.
They,re all to old . Jagger , Richards , Tyler , Young , Gillan the list goes on and on . Men of Around 70 plus trying to pretend they're young again and attempting to relive past glories...Pathetic .
We need all the rockers we can get, not less! > So, no Billy Shears? ;)
Yes!
That’s why it shows more
That is true and I thought of that… but how does one change the key to Beatles songs? It simply can’t be done.
Too old to Rock and Roll. Too young to die.
His voice actually was pretty ok until suddenly in 2016 ish it got weak sadly...
Who’s going to tell Bill his voice has gone?
i would kill to see Paul taking his garbage out. thanx paul from the entire planet.
You believe he still cooks and cleans for himself?? The guys got more money that God and he doesn’t hire a cook? Very down to earth person to this day. He’s the one guy I would literally chop my own arm off to meet.
@@TheGuitarHistorian yeah, right.
