You can also pack a small cleaning powder and run it through with hot water upon arrival to sterilize the coffee maker. This is more space efficient than a collapsible kettle (of course if you’re hopping around multiple hotels this could get inconvenient).
I pack Merrell Vapor Glove 5’s. It’s a minimalist shoe that is as comfortable and small as slippers but have a durable Vibram sole so I can multipurpose them (hotel gym, etc).
@@crystalg1768 When we sailed on the Queen Mary 2 last year, there were complimentary slippers in the cabin. I brought them home, and use them in hotel rooms.
Thanks for the information! I think a very important ‘must bring’, especially if traveling in another country, is a small portable C2O2 detector and small portable fire detector!! Not every country requires these in rentals, and deaths occasionally occur.
I like to use a cord with exta outlets on it instead of the ones that have the outlets right next to the plug. That way you jave an extra 6 feet of cord for pluging things in. Sometimes outlets are in the worst locations
I carry a one litre (20.6L x 13.5W x 6.9H Centimetres) Lock & Lock storage container. I use the container as a tray on the bathroom counter so hotel housekeeping doesn't have to touch all my toiletries when they want to wipe the counter. I turn the lid upside down on the night stand and use it for my phone and room key card, etc. When traveling the container is a safe place for small or delicate items so they don't get crushed in my suitcase.
Aly I actually bring a full sized pillow now. I''m someone who realizes that you just have to bite the bullet and check a bag in order to be comfortable. I also pack a little 6 inch extension cord because sometimes the electrical outlet is in an awkward place that is not conducive to plugging in a brick charger.
If I have an eye mask, I find I’m not bothered by all the lights around which means I no longer travel with tape! Also, I can get white noise on my phone so one less cool gadget (even though I love gadgets!). Thanks for the collapsible kettle link.
Omg… I am OBSESSED with Dude Wipes! I happened upon them when I couldn’t get my normal wipes during the pandemic. The Mint Chill ones are very very nice and I highly recommend trying them if you like the Cottonelle ones. I order the individual ones so I have them on the go ❤
I never like figuring out the meager tv channel selections. I carry a Roku streaming stick with me. I’m already logged into the services I subscribe to and I know what I’m getting. Plus I like the binaural music for sleeping and I can play it through Roku and not harm* my phone battery.
Hello our toilet paper in the bathroom for guests it is always getting pinched because of the good quality and perfumed. 😊 La Vista Bed and Breakfast Italy 🇮🇹
These are some great ideas - thank you! Instead of a valet tray for your loose items, you could use a baseball cap - which is something that you will probably bring anyway :-) That's what I do!
by altering the smoke detector, it is possible that you will be assuming liability if there an actual emergency. Wearing a sleeping mask if far smarter. I did find a dead cockroach in a coffee maker once.
Awesome tips! We are going to Cabo for the first time soon and considering another trip with our kids. I may or may not be binge watching you videos for the next week and taking notes! 😂
You’re amazing! I thought I had most of the hotel hacks down. When I was 13, I worked at a hotel for a summer in housekeeping and saw the horrors. I love the pillow, and I travel with a small, super soft blanket, which I use as a pillow sometimes. If I have room, I bring my pillowcases, but that is if I have room. I use a washcloths for my small items and jewelry cause they always give you too many. I will be buying the little valet much more classy and practical. Nightlight and electrical tape are genius! And I bring an extra thick pair of socks and only use those for walking in the hotel room, but slippers, genius! And the tea kettle! I want to give you a huge hug! That’s one item going into my luggage if nothing else. I bring my tea (I went through chemo, and I can only drink one brand and one kind of tea in the morning, it’s ridiculous) and coffee, and then the Hubs goes downstairs and gets hot water. Purchasing the kettle! Thank you ♥️ I am looking forward to watching your other videos.
You should check out the Mogics Super Bagel, much more compact and light then your plug, while supporting more plugs, a usb charger and extension cable.
skip that multi prong plug in. just have an extension cord handy. I always travel with one. I usually keep on a pair of sock because those hotel carpets are not cleaned nearly as sufficiently as they should be. I cannot tell you how many times I got foot fungus from those hotel floors, which is why I always pack anti-fungal cream as well.
So why use the tape when you could just wear a mask? Also i just use a sound app on my phone or tablet instead of traveling w sound machine. Saves space for that amazing kettle. Genius idea
I've finally decided that packing cubes are overrated, with the exception of a narrow one that fits between the trolley bars in my carry-on. If I roll my clothes, I can see everything at a glance, and they seem to take up less space.
I need to try those packing cubes. Im traveling for two and a half weeks next month and if i can keep it to one bag thatd be great. I second bringing that coffee pot and slippers. Stayed at a budget hotel (great for allowing kitty to stay) but the floor had an odd feeling in the floor. Slippers saved the stay! I'd add to the list some instant coffee packs. Think Starbucks Via. I like to have a couple cups and if the husband is with me thats not possible. Also a small steamer for clothes. Ive been in hotels that dont supply an iron and board. The small steamer has done winders on simple shirts that need a touch up from sitting in the luggage.
My husband and I sleep with a fan on at home, for the white noise and the movement of air. When we travel, we can't always do anything about the air, but I downloaded a free app to my phone that is the sound of an oscillating fan. I can turn that on at night while my phone is charging by the bed, and it has different sounds and volumes. Unfortunately, although he wears a CPAP, it can come loose in the night and my husband will start snoring. That is why I always travel with ear plugs!
Wipes are terrible. Dont flush them. Just get a collapsable travel bidet. Less wiping and cleaner and pat yourself dry with the tp. You dont need a noise machine can use your phone or i turn on the bathroom fan/ac unit the whole time.
I watch you since your Twitch days...why have you stopped using it? Just curious since we regularly interacted and you were always nice. Keep up the great work.
Hey thanks! I definitely miss Twitch, it was super fun, and thanks for being part of the community! Unfortunately it takes a lot of work and time, and I needed to dedicate that time & effort to YT which pays the bills lol. I would love to find a way to get back to Twitch on occasion though... hopefully at some point, just not sure when.
I’ve been doing the electrical tape thing for years! It works. I also carry a small binder clip to keep the curtains closed.
A nice tall guy seems very useful too
He's very useful 😉
@@alysmallslink pls 😂
😅
Thank you for the suggestion on pthe pillow,. I've been looking for one that folds up small.I take painters tape with me for those hasty lights.
The vanity tray is a really good idea
Ok, I've never heard that about coffee makers. 😳 Scarred for life! And now investing in one of those little kettles!
You can also pack a small cleaning powder and run it through with hot water upon arrival to sterilize the coffee maker. This is more space efficient than a collapsible kettle (of course if you’re hopping around multiple hotels this could get inconvenient).
Love the black tape hack. It's on my packing list for my next trip!!
I thought I was the ONLY person who packs bed slippers when traveling! It’s a must have!!
I pack Merrell Vapor Glove 5’s. It’s a minimalist shoe that is as comfortable and small as slippers but have a durable Vibram sole so I can multipurpose them (hotel gym, etc).
I usually pack some disposable plush slippers, that way I don't have to take the dirty one's home

I bring flip flops/slides that I can use in hotel room or shower etc
I use hospital socks.
The travel kettle! Mind blown.

😯 I never heard of a collapsible kettle before seeing this video! Thank you so much for this!!!!!! 🤗🥰🤗
Yes! I love my portable tea kettle - such a game changer. I also travel with my heating pad to help my back after a long day. Thx for the video
Thanks for horrifying me about hotel kettles 😮

Thanks for the video! I would suggest gaffers tape instead of electrical since electrical does leave some residue.

I was hoping to only travel with carry on but now that you reminded me about white noise machine and a collapsible kettle I may need to rethink haha

Great advice for people who can't fall asleep anywhere.

Kettle is the best

I don't go anywhere without slippers ever! even at home a must! Packing cubes are nice. I usually use ziplock bags lol.
Slipper crew!!
@@alysmalls 😆 you know it!!
Road warrior for over 40 years. I would never have survived without a supply of basic Mack's earplugs.

This is a fair point. However, they can never prove that it wasn’t like that when you checked in.
Ewww!
Found a dead lizard in a coffee maker in Mexico one time
You are very cozy. I would love to see your home.
Best finds!!! Thank you 😊

As others mentioned phone apps for sleep are great! I love Sleep aid fan. And the immersion water heaters are small and quick!
How about the hotel beds?

What about the phone white noise apps? Are they just as good as a separate machine?
All these add to the bulk of your luggage and travelling with only a carry on I have to make choices about what comfort items I bring...
helps to have a very tall husband. Being 5 feet tall, the ceiling would not be an option.
You were worried about dirty floors then laid in the bed with your slippers. 😂😂😂
Shhee . Poooo.. ❤❤😂😂
😂😂
who is your favorite hotel chain ?
I actually don't have one, prefer the smaller, independent places that have something unique to offer. Whether that be amenities, location, etc
I’m sorry I don’t have enough room for my clothes when I travel. 🤦🏻How am I supposed to bring all these lil gadgets with me? 🤷🏻♂️
Pack less?
I use electrical tape on my bottles so they don't accidently open on me in my bag.
Good call!
Use your phone as your white noise machine.
Cell phone have white noise now, so you don’t need a noise machine.
love dem Ally Smalls delicious tootsies
What? A pillow #1? Adapt. It’s easier.
