    I accidentally released the chicken loop on the side of my board last weekend and had to end my session. Now that I've seen your video I'll be able to fix it in the water next time and get back up again. I really appreciate you doing so many videos on safety, it's not as sexy as jumping and things, but it's a really important to make sure we don't have avoidable accidents. Bad accidents mean more regulation, insurance, no-kiting zones, etc, and we don't want that!

I’m my case after a 10 years break and finally back to kitesurfing and snowkiting, it’s so important to be reminded on all the challenges in this sport. Still working on all your videos and I promise to see them all😊 Great job, Petar and you always smile when to instruct. You are awesome and thank you so much🙌

    6:17 Mine happened yesterday. I must not have checked to be sure the chicken loop was clicked in place. I had just launched my kite, was about to step on my board when the chicken loop released. Nothing I could do but let go of the bar and resecure the chicken loop. The kite inverted and when I got it corrected and flying, the lines were crossed. I took it back to shore and re-ran the lines. It could have been one of your videos. Ha ha

    When pulling the safety line make sure it does not wrap around any parts of your body!
    And always carry a line cutter knife with you in case you have to cut the lines.

      Do you think that a small bar could be helpful while learning to kite and in gusty conditions? Thanks!

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  Рік тому +1

      @@notyouraveragewindsurfer hmm not necessarily a big difference between small bar and big bar for gusty conditions. Small bar is usually used by freestylers that do unhook moves or average kiters are using it with small sizes of kites like 8m, 7m, 6m... As well might be helpful to do the first kite control with a small bar so that the kite is not to reactive, but is not a huge difference.

      @@kitesurfexperiencebypetar Thanks for the info, do you think that using a small bar on 9m and 11m kite can make the kite super slow to turn and react?

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  Рік тому +1

      Yes, which is not something bad, especially if you want to do freestyle, but for normal free riding I personally prefer to have a bigger bar(55cm) from 9m kite and sizes above. If you are already using a small bar with bigger sizes of kite you just have to keep in mind that you will have to steer your bar more aggressively for your kite to react properly.

    I have been dragged in over a reef by the kite being pulled by the white water. Very scary but if you find your self struggling for a breath roll onto your back.

    Thanks for the Video. I had that issue 3 days ago. I had to eject the quick release after a jump. It was flat water and between 23 and 28 knots. I was far away from the exit so I tried to recover the chickenloop and continue riding. Everything went by the book until the step where I have to hook in again. Short before or at the time the safty line was totally in place again, the kite started and had suddenly an enormus pull while I was still holding the chickenloop with one hand. Of course it ripped out of my hand and released itself again. This was pretty uncomfortable as the chickenloop is quite hard. I am still wondering what went wrong. I managed it at the end only with another kiter helping me and holding the kite. It was a flat water spot.

      Hello,
      Thank you for sharing your experience. It’s true that stronger winds make it more difficult to hold your CL. However, the fact that the kite started moving without you touching the bar suggests that one of the lines may have been twisted around the bar or the kite?
      You mentioned that it was flat water-does that mean it was also shallow? When recovering the CL in shallow water and allowing the safety line to reset, it’s helpful to walk or float toward the kite to reduce some of the tension. This makes it easier to hold onto the CL before reconnecting it to your harness.

    • @clausc.9585
      @clausc.9585 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for the answer. Yes it was shallow water. I think I checked the lines on the bar before. However I just tried it 2 times. Both times it behaved the same. This never hapoened to me before when recovering the chicken loop. Thanks for the tip with walking towards the kite.

    Great videos ! I bought a second hand goods, and that got so many problem, sometime my kite just lose power for no reason and the quick release just eject itself, it really frustrated for me. Do you know what problem with it and how to avoid this... Or it just a second hand goods problem ? If that so, I think I will planning to buy a new gear, just wonder does this situation happen often or just a special cases....

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Leon, thank you for your comment :)
      There can be many reasons for the kite to lose power, you can see in the video some examples why the Chicken Loop can slide out of place, which is common to happen. But that the Chicken Loop Quick Release opens its self, this is something that never should happen, this I experienced just on old Fone bars with a velcro Release. What brand is your bar?

    • @leons.kennedy4517
      @leons.kennedy4517 2 роки тому +1

      @@kitesurfexperiencebypetarSorry I don’t get it. Chicken loop slide out of place is that mean that bar just eject itself? just like the safety system eject itself as well ? The old duotone bar, maybe the bar is to old. Anyway I think I will get a new gear to restart my kiteboarding journey. Does the north gear good ? Case I got the wingfoil gear form North is pretty nice, just confusing between Duotone and North.

      @@leons.kennedy4517 Yes, the Chicken Loop just slides out, without being open, like I tried to explain in this episode from 00:45.
      Yes North is definitely a good brand, I love it, also because the bar is simple and the Chicken Loop Quick Release practical. There are for sure also other quality brands. But for me riding and teaching other kiters, I prefer North.

    thanks for your video,
    could you also do it when overpowered? 30knots with 9 meter for example
    tried several time and couldn't handle the chicken loop when the safetyline went back in place, when power came back the chicken slip from my hand. is there a trick?

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Leonard,
      yes it is true that when there is super strong wind, this process becomes more challenging. I have been doing it also here on some clips, with 8m on 35-40 knots in Tarifa. I manage it, but my CL flew 2 times away from my hand, in this situations often can happen a bad luck that the line twisted around the kite or the bar... but if this is not happening and I have time to recover it again, I would keep on doing it, and it might help that once you are close to the end with the safety line to let your self on the belly so hopefully your kite looses a bit of tension and you can easier hold on the CL.

      thank you very much for the tip Petar. so when the kite start to pull hard I need to go downwind with it. and what do you do with your board? lie down on it? or keep it in the other hand?
      because losing the board in strong offshore wind is dangerous. had a problem in balneario one day and impossible to go upwind without board, hopefuly someone bring it back to me.
