    Excellent tutorial. Focusing on the deep water version is exactly what many others are missing in their tutorials. Swimming against the kite and using the board as a tool to help create/keep tension is also often not mentioned.

    Thanks for the tips, you explain the topics on better way than other kite tutorial channels. I always struggle with light winds. I will keep in mind on my next light wind sesion

    Thats a great vid. Im surprised you did not cover the relaunch by flying the kite backwards by pulling both back lines at the sam time ; this basically changes the trailing edge into the leading edge, which changes the arrow direction by 180 deg. You therefore dont have to put it on its ear. It s a nice one, quite fun to do !

      Hey Daniel, no worries I covered also this method of pulling both back lines, it’s on my Patreon ;)
      Anyway it’s important to first know on what to focus with a basic relaunch to be able to perform the advance relaunch(pulling both back lines). www.patreon.com/posts/advanced-of-kite-76290047?Link&

    I've spent a fair amount of time in light winds and think I'm fairly good at relaunching. One thing I did realize though is that even though winds are light, the extra time spent trying to relaunch usually means drifting downwind quite a bit. And then, with winds light it can be even harder to get back upwind. At least it's easier to self-land when you've drifted way down the beach.

      Hey James,
      Yes this is a good point as I mentioned in my episode of self rescue, if is side on shore wind you can keep pulling the line closer to the beach and once the kite reaches the beach start with self landing :)

    Nice video once again. There is one thing i am bothered that we can find from 90% of videos. Doesnt matter if its lightwind or strong wind. Imo we should always depower the kite when launching or landing. Maybe not fully but most of it anyways. Lightwind (prevent backstall) strong wind prevent getting too hard launch. It often happens that someone has "full power" kite drops in powerzone and launches you in the air if you havent depowered. You agree? :)

      And didnt mean bar throw.
      Meant trim! 😁 our new North kites wont backstall but many of older kites will and often old bars have shrinked lines etc

      Hello Joni, thank you for watching and sharing your opinion :)
      About backstalling and adjusting the symmetry of the lines, I did this episodes and they are currently available on my PATREON account: www.patreon.com/kitesurf
      they will be online on UA-cam in 2 months. I believe this episodes will help people understand why the kite might backstall or frontstall and how they might use the trim line to prevent it.
      For relaunching the kite from the power zone, I recommend it just during light wind, so I'm not sure how much of the effect would do the trim line..
      For Launching the kite with an assistant, as you maybe already sow my previous episode? I recommend to pull a bit the trim line if the wind is strong. About the light wind, I don't think that is necessary to pull the trim line if they are following the safest steps for launching their kite with an assistant.
      About the landing I didn't mention it, but you are right that could be recommended if the wind is strong, for light wind I don't see the reason to pull the trim line, if a kiter is correctly landing the kite just with one hand and letting the bar go when the kite is on the ground everything will be fine. If someone loves to pull the bar with 2 hands while landing, pulling the trim line is maybe a good idea, but this technique of landing the kite with 2 hands doesn't look safe.

    I agree with @vincentdinoto6138 about how good to see deep water relaunch video but I'd very much like to know how to keep enough tension in lines for relaunch if you do 'not' have the board.
    Thanks Much for your excellent videos... great to hear the 'why and when' as well as the 'what' to do.

      Hey Joseph, I'm so happy to hear that you loved my tutorial, and I hope that you will never have problems to relaunch your kite in light wind, especially in deep water. Thank you so much as well for your "Super Thanks", it means a lot to me, and I hope to meet you one day somewhere on the water 🙌

    What is the minimum wind speed required to practice these techniques?

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  Рік тому

      everything depends on the kite(size, and model) you are using and if you are practicing it in deep or shallow water :)
      But to practice it, lets say with an 9m kite you would need around 10knots

    can you relaunch 17 Meter kite ?

    • @kitesurfexperiencebypetar
      @kitesurfexperiencebypetar  Рік тому +1

      For sure it's possible to relaunch the 17m kite, but in light wind conditions it might be a big challenge. Especially with typical kites with a normal Dacron material around the Leading Edge that are absorbing a bit of water and the kite becomes even heavier.
      I believe that Alula material is the future, and that all big kites should be made with Alula so it is way easier to relaunch them.
