Twenty years after his infamous loss to Ali, Foreman did the unthinkable. At 45 years of age, Foreman took his title back, shocking the world and leaving little doubt about Foreman’s place as one of the greatest fighters in history.
The magnitude of this accomplishment cannot be understated. Foreman had pulled off perhaps the greatest upset in boxing, defying convention and embarrassing a multitude of prominent sports writers. How Foreman pulled off this incredible feat, and the path he took to get there, are both equally astounding.
To understand how Foreman took back his title at 45 years old, we must first take a look at Foreman’s stint as a young boxer.

sure, taking the title back was cool. but it pales to his number one accomplishment: the electric grill.

George Foreman’s career was truly amazing, but even more amazing was his transformation from an angry man full of rage to a man at peace with himself and full of love.

I retired from the Humble, Texas fire department. George Foreman lived in Humble. We would watch him running along the railroad tracks, shadow boxing. Once we transported his Aunt to the hospital. She was residing with Mr. Foreman and his family. Mr. Foreman asked to ride in the back with her. I remember looking at his hands. They were huge. One would make 4 of mine. He was a gentle talking, very polite man. I have a lot of respect for him. He never acted like a big shot or requested any special treatment. Just a genuine, nice person.

How this story hasn't been made into a movie yet is beyond me.

He pulled the classic “You fool! I’m only using 80% of my power!”

They call him Foreman because his punch has the power of four men.

To be honest, seeing Foreman transform from a young man full of rage and anger to an older man full of wisdom, peace and positivity is the most inspiring thing about him.

Fighting Foreman early in his career must've been so scary. You have this giant dude just stopping every punch you're trying to throw like "no"

It is unbelievable. The knock-out punch really didn’t look like anything serious. There must have been a ton of power in them but looked so innocuous. George Foreman is truly a great champion on and off the ring.

Man the moment when he hugged Evander after the fight really showed how much he matured as a perso and a fighter, boxing is truly a noble sport if you do it right , if youre really aggressive as a person its a sport of savages.

What an incredible warrior. The master Ali had used Foreman's ego against himself but the young Foreman learnt the lesson well and then used the same tactic on Moorer.

I love the GF story. I remember reading how hate filled he was after the Ali defeat. Then one day walking on a beach he had a moment of clarity and realised he was just beaten by the better man that night and that he found peace and respect for Ali. All the hate left him and he moved on.....and eventually won the title again. He makes a mean fucking grill to.
