The “day in the life” format is really interesting! Especially because you keep the pace moving right along. I have a tremendous amount of respect for how you run your operation. You keep your crew and boat safe and you follow the guidelines for keeping your catch legal. Great job by all!
Love what you do Jacob!!! A little story: My 98 year old dad winters in Florida for the winter and fishes every day. He comes back to Booth Bay in April and for the last 35 years or so he gets his commercial lobster license. At his age now he only puts out about 12 to 15 traps each summer. He used to do 25 or so. He fishes the Back River off the Sheepscot. He will be 99 when he goes home in the next spring. Hope both you and your dad can lobster as long as my dad is.
Your father sounds like he’s gonna live to be 200 at this rate. My father is now 85 years old and works 40 hour week used to work on a tug in New York Harbor now he just cleans up offices. I think he does it just to get out of the house. Thanks for sharing about your dad.
This was surprisingly soothing for my ADHD… something I could put on in the background and listen to without worrying about missing the big thing in the episode. The ambience is the ocean and the boat, the very mellow narration. I like it!
I remember as a little kid visiting my maternal grandparents in Newfoundland, Canada. My grandfather and 2 uncles were fishermen. The house was old ( I’m 65 now) and it was heated by a big wood stove in the the big kitchen downstairs. My sister and I would be sharing a bed and we would listen to my grandfather and my uncles make their breakfast and of course warm up the house. We’d be snuggled down and thinking about the fishermen getting up so early in the dark to head out on the water. My earliest memories there was no electric but then they got a Generator and I also remember my cousin and I going up the hill to the well with buckets to get drinking water to put in the big oak barrel in my grandmothers porch. Some old memories there. 🥲
Thought this was great. Absolutely enjoyed hanging with you guys as you go about your day start to finish. Love learning what really goes into lobster fishing, the good and the bad. The fun and the interesting as well as the monotonous and shite. The camaraderie between you guys gives a vibe that is fun for us out here. That fact you approach your job with such a positive attitude (even with the crappy parts like having to adapt to the weather and miss a day with your family which is clearly so important to you) and that you have such a desire to teach and educate is exactly what an industry like yours needs. It’s so important so that you guys receive the support necessary to maintain the industry. When people don’t understand, they tend not to give a sh*t. So, good on you guys! And we’ll keep watching as long as you keep fishing!
Really enjoyed this one everyone needs to know about the whole day sometimes. The horn dog call him Slick. You’re blessed to have such a good crew they’re like a well oiled machine with a sense of humor. Happy Thanksgiving to all of y’all.
I work in New Harbor Maine and love hearing all the stories from all the lobstermen every day!!! Now that I watch your videos I have learned enough to actually hold a conversation with them!!!
My grandfather and father were both lobstermen. I grew up on a boat from the time I could walk and well into my teens. I could happily go the rest of my life without baiting another trap, moving gear before storms, hunting gear down after storms, dealing with guys setting across your gear, it’s just endless work. Respect to anyone that can handle the grind every day.
So fun to watch! We're very impressed with the lack of knots in your ropes when you hauled all those traps on board! We can't even keep camping ropes from getting tangled to the point of becoming useless!
Absolutely loved this Day in the Life video❤ and also I would love to see the series of you making a larger lobster trap! Keep up the amazing work! Sorry you didn't get to go with the kids to the water park...😕 Hopefully you have an amazing thanksgiving and happy holidays 🦃 🎄🎁
The weather/tide thing is a whole... thing. Coastline shape and tide direction does influence high/low pressure system movement and speed, slightly. Tides also have a stabilizing/destabilizing effect on local weather- high tide will moderate summer thunderstorm intensity by cooling the intertidal zones, reducing uplift of warm air. Bear in mind, though that these are just small influences on big systems, and just 2 of many inputs.
Hello Jacob, it would really be we neat to see you build a big trap to see how big of a lobster, fish, octopus, or whatever. I love all of your videos, and I don't miss any, I also go back to watch your old ones. Thanks for sharing, and get em in the boat. God bless you and the crew. Best of luck
I have always had respect for lobstermen. After having watched your “Day in the Life…” episode my respect has grown exponentially! As a Mainer in exile, I enjoy watching and listening to you and your crew.
I love how at 15:40 the female lobster is like, " Why thank you for the meal kind Sir" and gentle grabs the herring lol. Keep up the awesome videos guys, y'all are awesome!
Great video Jacob. Terrific insight into the hard and dedicated work you and your crew put into it all. One of my 1st Sergeants in the Bangor base of the Maine Air National Guard was a lobsterman from Rockland. A great man, as are you. Keep it up!
Nothing you ever do is at a slower pace! I love all your formats. I envision you passing out sound asleep, tough job you have. You all are so strong. Sweet boating wishes.
Would absolutely be interested in a big lobster trap, design, construction, GoPro on it, launching, you name it! HornDog can still be named HornDog, or some kind of seafaring word, like Scuttle, Belaying Pin, Rudder, Jib, Catamaran, Tug, Jack, Gob, Bilge, just some ideas.
I too am usually on my way to work at 04:39 hours. I appreciate hard work. I work hard too, albeit at a completely different task. When I was a kid, I used to use those sand worms as bait when I went fishing in Long Island sound. Ususally for Flounder, but sometimes for Porgies or Bass. Later in the summer, I would troll for Mackerel or Bluefish. I know most folks think Mackerel is a junk fish or a bait fish, but I love them (to eat them).
I confess that I would have ordered some lobster from you for Thanksgiving, but we are eating at my brother's house, and his wife absolutely hates anything that swims. We will just have prime rib without lobster. Sometimes, one just has to keep the peace in the family. Happy Thanksgiving!
@ It gets more complicated, as all families do. My two kids will be over for Christmas. My eldest is one of the most kind vegans in the world! As a father, and hosting Christmas supper (with my brother and SIL, and vegan daughter), we’ll serve ham and whatever tofu dish my daughter wants. Nothing that swims. I’ll order sometime in summer. To quote George Gershwin and DuBose Heyard for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess, “Summertime, and the living is easy…” my addition, “I don’t have to put up with crazy family…”
I would really love to see an oversized trap and see how big of a lobster you can really get packages very very fun to watch thanks for the video buddy it was great
Great video really enjoyed it. Would have liked a bit more of the unloading and an idea of what you’d caught and the process of selling them etc. For the giant lobster hunt do you not just need to upscale a normal trap?
Just a thought, could you use UHMW for runners on the traps? It's durable, impervious to rot and worms. Also would make the traps slide very easily. We use a "boatload" of it in the food industry. Enjoying the videos, keep it going and growing!
I absolutely loved this video!! I always wondered the air temp vs. the water temp up there in Maine. Thank you for showing us a day in the life of a lobsterman. Happy Holidays to you, your family & crew. Much love! ❤
I love the day in the life series! And I’m so stoked about the oversized trap you talked about. I’d think that researchers would also be eager to see how big they actually get.
I’m vegan (I know how that sounds!), never been into seafood even before that, but I love watching you work! I’m in environmental studies and it’s great seeing conservation efforts in action. Around here Florida manatees are the main issue so there’s lots of regulations on fishing adapted for them.
We had a short-lived lobster sandwich shop here in central NJ, where they charged $24 for a lobster roll as of June of '24. Market price for a live lobster was apx $25 a pound, if you chose to cook your own.
Keep the content up!! Anything you do is interesting and keeps, if anything, your numbers up which keeps us watchers of this UA-cam channel and kids happy
Enjoyed the video. Would like to see you build the trap and see what the biggest lobster you could catch looks like. It’s nice to see that you have a great deal of respect for the creature that has provided for generations of your family.
You should also look into a research team they may want to come out and put a couple tags on those big boys with biodegradable glue and a float on said tag so when they molt or that glue fails it'll float up to the surface and they can retrieve data I know Rutgers in my area was doing that for oystering for a little while slightly different being a sessile species versus a mobile species Rutgers
Wow! Loved this video. Documenting the day in the lives of you and the crew. Liked the grappling for lost traps. Seems like trying to find a needle in a haystack but you guys make it look easy. Thanks for sharing this. By the way what’s the purpose of the red buoys?

Really enjoyed today's video to see the day in a the life. Can't wait to see the biggest one you can get with the oversized trap I can't imagine how huge it could be
Loved the video Jacob!! I do enjoy everything you put out, its so interesting & very educational! Im a fan for life! Glad you were able to grab those traps! Lobsters are not only good to eat they are also interesting! You will have to get more of those sandworms, he really enjoyed that in a quick minute!
It is really cool to see the process you go through as a lobster fisherman. There were quite a few oversized lobsters that you caught in today's video. I definitely want to know how big they can get.
Really enjoyed a day in the life. Definitely would like to see the huge lobster trap and how big they can get. Thanks for an excellent video once again.
Love the overhead videos, yes would like see larger traps, and of more on at home with G Nugget. Wishing you and your family a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃
I would LOVE to watch you guys put out a big trap and catch a huge lobster. Ive seen some pictures of really big lobsters and I’d love to see y’all catch a massive one! ❤

Yep, when I look at wind forecast and it says the wind is increasing/decreasing or changing direction around 11am (for example) but high/low tide is at 1pm, it’ll change at 1pm lol
Would love to come to Maine and go fishing with you guys. Looks like a lot of work but also fun. You guys have a great crew and operation. Also make great videos. I believe I have watched most of not all of them. Keep it up
Enjoyed watching a day in the life of ***, checking on G nugget catching the lost traps on first try Yahooooooo! Can’t wait to see the big Olmsted trap, although it might almost be too heavy for one person to handle. Good luck and keep on lobstering 😊
3:42 that is normal at least when I kept crayfish, they like holes that just fit in their body (yeah). They also usually bring their foods inside their hiding spots, it is for protection I guess. I can probably put a few more crayfish (maybe 3-5) with that tank size, put a few sets of a couple of PVC pipes and cable tie it so that the pipes will sink to the bottom and not easily roll.
The “day in the life” format is really interesting! Especially because you keep the pace moving right along.

Small world! I was living just outside Wiscasset all summer, was up at the narrow gauge in Alna

I would like to see the oversize trap to see how big they get. The education you provide is awesome!!
Thank You all!!
Yes plz do this.
I think a big lobster catching trap could be very interesting. Maybe an extra small trap also. See what little stuff you can find.
Give em the claw spa treatment!
I appreciate your attitude and your crew. Thanks for allowing us to spend time with you in nature.
Call him Elvis, because he ain’t nothin but a horn dog. 😉
The Giants, The Cage, The Story….. to begin “Oh Yea” Let’s Do It! I love this channel. Watching from Dublin, Southern Ireland 🇮🇪 🇮🇪🇮🇪☘️☘️☘️

This was one of my favorites episodes. If it wasn't too much more work than usual please keep it going!
I think Horn Dog is a perfect name for the horn dog.
Henry or Harry the horndog
Agree. G nugget and the Horndog is perfect and sound like they need to put out an album
My grandfather and father were both lobstermen. I grew up on a boat from the time I could walk and well into my teens.

Best show yet, the crew is great.
Large traps to catch the monster lobster would be amazing! Great content as always. Much love ❤🎉

Guarantee smile if we are watching the boys fish. Good morning and thank you
Loved the filming this episode. Have to love the super-wide shots.

Great crew you have there Jacob the interaction between Cody, Tristan and yourself is comical. Yeah the big trap idea sounds good!
I love how at 15:40 the female lobster is like, " Why thank you for the meal kind Sir" and gentle grabs the herring lol. Keep up the awesome videos guys, y'all are awesome!
Thanks for making me feel better,30 yrs of owning a business I love doing, beat myself up when I didn't want to go😎

31:16 YESS!! That would be so awesome to see!! Hope that gets to happen soon!! 😮🙏
I absolutely enjoy all that you guys do on the this channel... Yes to the big trap!
Pretty sunrise!
Big trap! Love to see you design and set it. Exciting to see what you catch. Thank you so much for the education, I never miss a video.
Another great video! I like the format.
I confess that I would have ordered some lobster from you for Thanksgiving, but we are eating at my brother's house, and his wife absolutely hates anything that swims. We will just have prime rib without lobster. Sometimes, one just has to keep the peace in the family. Happy Thanksgiving!
I can sympathize as someone who also hates seafood. Prime rib is my jam though 🤤
Sounds white
You can still order and enjoy before or after with friends who would appreciate the lobster. My family can come over! 😊
@ It gets more complicated, as all families do. My two kids will be over for Christmas. My eldest is one of the most kind vegans in the world! I like the drone footage! Early mornings cold and wet are my weakness which is why I’m not a fisherman.
Im a zombie until the sun comes up.
I would really love to see an oversized trap and see how big of a lobster you can really get packages very very fun to watch thanks for the video buddy it was great
I'd love to see him catch the record.
Great video really enjoyed it. Would have liked a bit more of the unloading and an idea of what you’d caught and the process of selling them etc. For the giant lobster hunt do you not just need to upscale a normal trap?
Born in Gloucester MA but raised in SoCal. Really enjoying your channel.
Question: Are there poachers who raid the traps?

Another great and informative video. Hopefully it will make people more thankful for that lobster there eating. 👍
Yes I want to see the "biggest ones video "
I liked it,but I want to see Cody and Tristian riding the wave again lol ❤❤❤ I look forward to each episode.great stuff.
Thoroughly enjoyed this, more please!

Hi Jake, first time commneting you and when I watch every of your videos, they're awesome! Keep on sailing and hunting for some great ocean creatures.
We had a short-lived lobster sandwich shop here in central NJ, where they charged $24 for a lobster roll as of June of '24. Market price for a live lobster was apx $25 a pound, if you chose to cook your own.

Love the idea of the Big Boy Yrap. Especially if you share the thought process when designing the treap, etc.
Enjoyed the video. Would like to see you build the trap and see what the biggest lobster you could catch looks like. It’s nice to see that you have a great deal of respect for the creature that has provided for generations of your family.
I loved this series and getting to know more about catching lobsters and your team. Thank you Jacob for sharing this with us! It was super fun!
Very interesting topic today, glad you were able to recover the lost traps ❤❤❤
You should also look into a research team they may want to come out and put a couple tags on those big boys with biodegradable glue and a float on said tag so when they molt or that glue fails it'll float up to the surface and they can retrieve data I know Rutgers in my area was doing that for oystering for a little while slightly different being a sessile species versus a mobile species Rutgers
Thanks for your hard work and all your amazing content. Well done sir

Great channel. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Making a lobster trap big enough to catch the giant lobsters.
I have not seen a drawing of your traps, but I think you could tweak them just a little and catch the Giants with your existing traps. You’d have to enlarge the entrance and the pass-through, but I think you could use a couple old traps to do that if you use a trap that you’re gonna get rid of anyway . All you have to do is cut the wire to open the door at the entrance to the trap. You might be able to convince a big lobster to get in there. Good luck with it Kathy.
I appreciate what you do year in & year out, so I can enjoy lobster dipped in melted butter 😋....Hello 👋🏻 from Alhambra Southern California 🌴
Fermented honey garlic Jacob for that cold ! My voice was rasphy in the morning and chewed a couple from my stash and next day no sign of any cold whatsoever. It works my friend and it's easy to make
Missed a day at the water park with the family.
You've got the water park at work.
Oh boy.Great vid guys.Really appreciate what you guys do.Would love you to do a big trap.I used to do a milk round as a child n up at 2am in the morning twice a week when not at school n college. "A day in the life" was fantastic! Thanks for sharing and stay safe!
Love this format! So much more real and less “produced”. ❤
Really enjoy your content. I look forward to your new videos.
Really enjoyed today's video to see the day in a the life. Can't wait to see the biggest one you can get with the oversized trap I can't imagine how huge it could be
Thanks for sharing some of the information you use to prepare for your lobstering day (or a delay).
From Colorado but I lived in Westbrook Maine for 8 months and absolutely love and miss it there.
Pretty cool glimpse into your life. Keep it up.

Love your channel dude . Love the job you do . Love the dedication to your wildlife . Sending love from England and our waters.
The fact of knowing you set up the camera and then set off the alarm and thennnn talking with the most awake voice ever. I love the production.👍😂

I like how you guys have to differentiate yourselves from fishermen
I look forward to these vids every single Saturday!
Would love to come to Maine and go fishing with you guys. Looks like a lot of work but also fun. You guys have a great crew and operation. Also make great videos. I believe I have watched most of not all of them. Keep it up
