Tips from one spearfisherman to another: Try to study a bit from marine life, which fish a safe to eat and which are not. After some research from the internet, I can say you got lucky when you failed to spearfish that black fish because of your dull spear and too far shot. It happens to be a clown triggerfish, which is apparently dangerous to eat. The other tip is to always load your speargun only in the water. It's a lot safer when the water creates resistance if something snaps, like your rubber band cord at the beginning. Anyways, you did incredibly great out there! Perfect mindset of taking a step back and trying to be safe with things you don't know. You just earned a sub :)
I'd add to just stay away from all trigger fish in these remote areas. They all contain the toxin ciguatera but the clown trigger has too much to eat, as you pointed out. It's not fatal, but it can make you sick even in small doses from the other species. If you catch a trigger fish at home, at least you could treat your nausea and other symptoms, but on a survival journey it could put a person in serious jeopardy. I wonder if that is why he got sick as opposed to the micro plastics. Perhaps a safe rule may be to steer clear of all colorful fish. Here in the Gulf in Florida I don't even bother with trigger fish, they don't taste good to me. Also, I don't know if you saw it, but there was some tasty kelp around there he could have eaten too.

Hey Xander just wanted to say I really enjoy your content and hard work that you put into it every single time... I'm a recovering alcoholic/addict. This Thanksgiving I will be two years sober, and it just so happens that I stumbled on your channel at the beginning of my sober journey. I have pulled a lot of inspiration from you and your videos listening to you talk about your own struggles with addiction and sobriety. I want to thank you from he bottom of my heart for being so open and also for inspiring me to get back in to nature! This past year I've been camping and fishing nonstop and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Hopefully I'll be able to shake your hand someday and thank you in person... I think it would be an honor and a privilege to go on an adventure with you... Man how I have missed the woods throughout my struggle with addiction. Feels GREAT to be BACK!!!
Quite the progression. He started with one- to two-night stays in snowy Canadian forests, sleeping under tarps and eating too much food, to surviving on an island like Castaway.
Xander, I want to thank you for doing this for UA-cam and everyone of us watching. So much work for a two hour video. Absolutely amazing and I appreciate it
The fact that you took the plastic bottles with you is top tier badass. Could have just left them there given that that's where you found them but you went the extra mile. You're a good lad, Xander!
Left em cause that’s where you found em?Would be not so good plus it seems like he tossed some close enough to shore that they ended up back in water. And he least he could do is pick up rubbish he’s using resources it’s even trade off
These videos are so therapeutic to watch man. Without a doubt my favorite series on UA-cam. Thanks so much for bringing us along on these adventures man!!
Xander bobander, I love these new international survival style type videos you are dishing out for us lately. It takes a lot of discipline to do what you do. It is entertaining and exciting. Much appreciation from Canada
Xander, I’m a Pacific Islander. Born and raised in Palau 🇵🇼. We have a lot of inhabited islands and it’s no joke living in one of those. Watching your videos makes me feel closer to home. Night fishing is the best way to catch fish.
Xander, your journey is a profound reflection of the ceaseless beauty of existence. To see you gather rain, hunt for sustenance, and adapt with resilience amidst broken sleep was a reminder of how much life offers when stripped to its essentials. Your awe for the world around you-the way you found wonder in struggle and joy in simplicity-was deeply moving. You’ve shown that even in isolation, the world hums with life’s quiet miracles, if only we have the eyes and heart to see them.
Been watching this from the comfort of a warm bed, which is a strange dynamic. Really admire your ability and stamina to do this. Not only dealing with hardship and obvious discomfort, but remaining creative to produce something enjoyable. Very well done sir.
I like seeing the progression of your videos from North America to Asian Pacific. As a young fellow, I began my hunting journey in the Western US, but eventually did trips to Mongolia and Africa which required a lot of logistical planning, but I eventually pulled it off. Well done Xander for pulling this one together-you’ll never forget it!
I envy you, and himself. Ireland has little to no wilderness, totally deforested, sparce wildlife. We do have an abundance of wild fruit, veg and fungi, so I just forage alot.
@ I grew up in LA county, and while it offered more than it does today, I got out by enlisting in the Army. We moved to Idaho after I got out of the Army, but eventually started to feel kind of trapped in Idaho, so I moved on to Alaska. I am thankful for the opportunities I’ve had, but a lot of things would have never happened if I hadn’t taken some big leaps!
I could watch content like this all day. Xander Budnick and Lost Lakes are at the pinnacle of this genre. The video quality, the editing, the cinematography and especially the personalities makes for tremendous entertainment.
Two of my favs as well. What sets them apart from others in this genre, is their editing, and content filming. With Xander, you are immediately connected to him. ( us older guys say things like “ we did much the same” or “ the kid is learning”. And then you realize that while he is learning, and doing he is also giving us our youth, our experiences in real time and in video. It truly is a credit to him that he gives us his version of our youth. Thanks for that.
I’m also 4 years sober and I remember your videos back then. You inspire me to get out there bud. Thank you for your videos as they are undeniably great.
Congrats on 1 Million!!! I remember finding this channel when it was only at 200k subs. It was amazing just watching someone camp out in the Canadian winter with essentially nothing but a tarp and a sleeping bag. Its been great watching this channel grow and I am excited to see what is on the horizon.
No butts no cuts…. No coconuts!😅 Much gratitude for this dudes videos. He’s the real deal!!! I first learned of him on lost Lakes channel…. Great therapy advice. !!
I wish you could do more of these 2 HOUR episodes !!!! This is way better than a movie or TV series !!! I was glued to this from the 1st minute ! Great job Xander ! 😊
As a fellow Canadian the idea of seeing actual sunlight makes this looks like so much fun - hope you enjoyed it all man! Nothing can beat fresh fish, coconut water and ocean sunsets! Well worth the challenges i'd imagine
i love that you were speaking about not getting to choose the situation in real life if you are in a survival situation, and then that night it rains at the worst possible time... 10/10
My brother Xander Budnick, i pray for you to have a good health, a great financial, joy of life and endless of ideas to making more videos. You are truly an inspiration, entertainer and educator. Stay safe my brother.
you are amazing xander, you can survive for 7 days, when you returned from the island my mother was very worried seeing your condition which looked thin, my mother was worried about your condition while you were on the island, thank God you returned safely we are all very happy to see you back without anything missing...
If you need solid roof cover , weave a coconut branch .2 layers of Woven coconut branches can withstand any rain & you can make any walls with it to prevent wind
This guy is still learning the ropes about making a rain proof shelter Also he had fishing line but never went line fishing, so what was the point of the line. Once it rained heavy and he got proper water he should have just drank the pure water. I think he limits what he does to just survive the 7 days , but if he was doing a few months he would set things up a lot better. He does look too skinny to be doing these challenges though, maybe try to fatten up a bit prior to each challenge. Like they do on alone.
That last shot of you on the boat is so flippen cinematic. There is a ton of emotion pouring out of it. There is an incredible aesthetic in just those few seconds. I wonder what was going through your head? Powerful!
For fire starting on deserted islands: look along the beach for disposable lighters. About 1 in 5 will have gas, but not a working sparker. The others will have working sparkers. Use in conjunction or combine them physically to make a working lighter. Fire. (From personal experience.)
Hope you understand how much joy these kinds of videos give to me. This is my dream to go out and do this kind of thing and I’m just not able to rn. So thank you for sharing ❤
Xander bro you just proved your ultimate test of solo survival challenge. Definitely you have absolutely all the necessary skills required for survival on remote tropical island out in the middle of the vast ocean. Congrats bro. !! Wish you all the best!!
Pro tip for catching eels next time, take any small fish or crabs you catch and walk up the beach and chum the rocks at the shore right before it gets dark. Once it gets dark they will come out and you can literally walk the beach and spear them right from the sand. We used to do that all the time to catch eels for bait, but obviously you could eat them as well.
Thanks Xander, I'm going through a difficult time in my life and your videos make me relax. I am a lover of nature and adventure and for more powerful reasons I am not doing it, but your exploits keep me in tune, greetings and luck brother!
I love the way you edit your videos and the slight panning in still frames makes such a diffrence. Love your content and the way you make and all you do for it.
The fact you upload videos this long must mean you know that if you shorten your videos with maximum progression shown will probably double your views but the fact you post it all raw and lengthy and do all the graft of filming everything you find, build etc is so much more respectable, your videos are honestly top quality, i think you deserve your own show
I just love how your content makes me feel so safe that I can literally sleep without not realizing. I feel comfortable watching your content. Lots of love from Türkiye🇹🇷
Absolutely Brilliant work Xander, from your survival skills to the drone shots, gorgeous scenery and underwater camera work, this has it all. The ending was PERFECT! 😊

nah bener berarti dugaan gua, Xander ga ngasih tau lokasinya dimana tapi pas dia bilang Southeast Asia gua langsung mikir apa dia ke Indo ya, terus pas dia nemuin botol air gua makin yakin kalo itu di Indo dan botolnya Aqua
These survival episodes are so good. I understand that they take a big toil on the body&mind and you cannot do them very often but this is top content. 👏👏
Man I just came home after a full day of work, brought some food and was wandering what to watch. Thanks Xander, your my favorite outdoor person on youtube and solo survival on a tropical island is my favortie content to watch. That‘s like a 1h50 Jackpot!
I’m from MICRONESIA in the great Pacific Ocean. It’s best to fish the reefs inwards to land when the tide rises. Always twice throughout the day. It scares up plankton from the seabed and the small fish willl gather. Wher there’s small fish, there’s always a big eater nearby waiting for the tide to reside
Xander, I struggled with depression and addiction until I was 44 years old. I’d tried everything on my own, but I didn’t get my Break Through until I completely surrendered to G-d, and He lead me to some of the biggest adventures I ever had as a medic on oil support vessels, and at remote drill sites across Alaska-just throwing this out, for whoever it may be helpful to!
Thanks for being open to share. I can relate. Severe depression, an atheist and my journey led me to God which absolutely transformed my life! Wishing you a totally sweet life.
I love your videos. To me you are one of the few modern adventurers. You really go out into the wild, do more than the minimal time and bring limited tools. Others can not compete, because they say and do not do. Both your camping- and survivaltrips have great cinematic shots/editing and smooth naration. I hope you thrive. Thank you and good luck!
Love the video but gotta say, From one side it's amazing how many bottles you found there , that made storing fluids easy but from the other side it's so depressing how many bottles were there.
I would love to see a full video on how you set up for these trips, from the planning, the packing and the preparation that goes into it all, it really would be an interesting view. Love these videos❤
No it's not you muppet. That's heat exhaustion. Heatstroke comes after heat exhaustion and is far worse and will start shutting down your organs and brain cells begin dying.

Xander, have you ever thought of how beautiful it is that possibly one day you could have kids, or ever grandkids that you could show these videos too? You could show them how you spent your younger days as a badass, doing things not many people could fathom doing? It's such a beautiful thought and i think its absolutely amazing. Keep doing you man ❤
My favourite thing in the whole video is you changing your statement from "what did I do in life to deserve this" to "how am I so fortunate to have this?" Inspiring.
I am 40 years old and this is the first comment I have ever made on any media platform.... I have watched you for years and have gained inspiration from you with dealing with mental health and addictions. I am worried you are still using.. Know that you are loved. Sorry if I over stepped
Imagine your on a deserted island by yourself and you hear some guy screaming "MEEEAAAATTT!!!!" MEEAAAAATT!!!!" Bros on a deserted Island and eating crab like a king.
I enjoy your content. A few helpful hints. !. If you crack open a bottle of coconut water and it fizzes its been fermenting and I wouldn't advise anyone to drink it. When it has time to ferment you'd get one of the worst food poisoning. 2. You can make a scope for the coconut jelly from the coconut itself. 3. You can fashion a cot from the bush rope. That first fish you caught with the speargun is a bonito. Delish!
Genuine question, what makes it so bad in coconut water? I do fermentation stuff with fruits all the time, and as long as you do it correctly (don't expose to harmful bacteria in the very beginning) it seems like it's safe. Plus, if something goes horribly wrong, you kinda know it by the smell and taste of it. People used to make light and quick beers historically to drink as one of the main sources of hydration. Fermentation was one of the main (alongside with boiling) methods of purifying water. Because when "good" bacterias take over, they don't allow bad bacteria to spread. So the main thing about fermentation is to ensure that there are more good yeasts and bacteria than bad ones. Now getting back to topic, i'm just curious, if coconuts have harmful bacteria in them and make fermentation process dangerous? Maybe one day i'll try to make like coconut kombucha and i need to know, how to do it without poisoning myself 😅
Try to find a metal spoon or fork next time or another small piece of flashy metal. Throw it in front of you while spear fishing to grab the fish's attention and it makes it much easier to get a shot off. Probably would've helped with the Tuna and Baracuda for sure!
I can barely pick a movie to watch but I'll easily sit down for a 2 hour Xander vid
Me too, l love his videos❤

Xander's humor is hilarious. It's the small things he does or says that just makes these videos even more entertaining
These videos are so therapeutic to watch man. Without a doubt my favorite series on UA-cam. Thanks so much for bringing us along on these adventures man!!
My processed food order is about to be delivered. Glad I found this video in time!

Night fishing is the best way to catch fish.
really cool!
Those who are used to such an environment always amaze me. There was a time when I tried night fishing and I didn't expect how difficult it was.
Very well said
Yup, very well said. I've observed too that life offers much when stripped to its essentials, as you put it.

Coconut water spoils quickly after opening them unless refrigerated… best to keep them in the shell
is that why it got fizzy?
@@eneshancsgoprobably why he had a tummy ache 😂
coconuts when out of the shell will ferment on its own, thats why its fizzing
Coconut water turn into Vinegar

I haven’t seen content like your anywhere. Thank you, 3 years sober myself. God bless you
I could watch content like this all day. Xander Budnick and Lost Lakes are at the pinnacle of this genre. The video quality, the editing, the cinematography and especially the personalities makes for tremendous entertainment.
Dam right!!!

The video getting more and more unhinged as time goes on is the best thing ever! Your energy is the best I absolutely love it!

you are amazing xander, you can survive for 7 days, when you returned from the island my mother was very worried seeing your condition which looked thin, my mother was worried about your condition while you were on the island, thank God you returned safely we are all very happy to see you back without anything missing...
Once he said he's thirsty my trauma kicked in from that coconut video where he kept drinking Coconut water
🤣🤣 20 coconuts per day
🤣🤣same.
Bro has a 20 gallon drum of water hidden in the trees
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i thought oh no its happening again w the coconuts
I drank ONE coconut when I was younger and had the worst poop of my life. I cannot fathom how he made it through on only coconut water
The effort it must take to survive and bother filming is astounding. Big up
If you need solid roof cover , weave a coconut branch .2 layers of Woven coconut branches can withstand any rain & you can make any walls with it to prevent wind
Do lighters show up on shore often??
@LaurenOliviArt Where I was they did. They seem to break down very slowly.
@tsbrownie how long did you survive
@terryznation6788 Until the ferry went back to the mainland, then another 48 years after that and still counting.

The fact you upload videos this long must mean you know that if you shorten your videos with maximum progression shown will probably double your views but the fact you post it all raw and lengthy and do all the graft of filming everything you find, build etc is so much more respectable, your videos are honestly top quality, i think you deserve your own show

This long video survival series you've got going is awesome, looking forward to seeing more!
Respect, you're definitely putting in the hard yards. I don't think anyone would begrudge you a proper hammock and tarp... 🙂
That feeling of being really tired and having to throw up? That's heatstroke.

@@Kvint-kh12345bongkrekic acid and/or nitroproprionic acid, check out chubby emu video on it. Please don’t ferment any coconut product.
Try to find a metal spoon or fork next time or another small piece of flashy metal. Throw it in front of you while spear fishing to grab the fish's attention and it makes it much easier to get a shot off. Probably would've helped with the Tuna and Baracuda for sure!
