They are required to. If in carting, you won’t let the faster one behind you pass, you will be shown the blue flag and are forced to give up your position.
@@davidc.w.2908 actually that is not true. Kart racing is absolute racing, you're only shown the blue flag if you're being lapped. 505197 True, but that's with loads of sports, no matter how good you are, you still need some luck in your life. Take a look at Messi, when he was young he often got chosen as latest, simply because he was small. When he was 16 he went to Holland to join the world cup under 18. He sat on the bench, but there was a guy that knew about his skills, but sadly this wasn't his coach at the time. That person was Piet de Visser, one of the best talentspotters in the world. The youthcoach of Argentina didn't listen to him, simply because he didn't know him. Piet de Visser somehow knew how to get in contact with Maradonna, Maradonna who didn't knew about Messi at the time. He phoned Maradonna and told him that youthcoach should let Messi play. Eventually Messi was allowed to play, Argentina won that tournament, became worldchampion under 18 and Lionell Messi became the player of the tournament. After that Messi's carreer skyrocketed. This guy has some skills! Also I am really impressed by the amount of grip he has, maybe I am used to horrible grip, but he didn't get any wheelspin at all!
Yes, I do that too. One my first race I placed 3d, I am generarly a very aggressive and fast driver. I generarly follow the racing line, but i sometimes get wheelspin.
DuckHunter Take some lessons from Jackie Stewart, be smooth and not aggressive. Max drives very smooth here in my opinion. I think your aggressive style overheats the rear tyres. Either that or you don't push the tyres enough and they are too cold, but if you're an experienced driver I honestly doubt that. So try to calculate the smoothest line to pass an opponent and set him up. Often when you make a few jabs an opponent will end up driving a tight defensive line. In the right corner sequence you just need to have a higher exit speed (late apex) and you will often pass on the next corner. One other thing can be on how you handle weight transfer. I hardly move my body in the kart, but most guys I see with wheelspin or even spinning end up leaning too much into the corners. That or their seat is too far forward and that puts the center of gravity too far forward, in other words there isn't enough pressure on the rear driven wheels. My tip...you can practice driving and racing techniques if you get a sim racing rig and a good simulation game. My preference is Project CARS and the Formula Gulf (drives like a big kart). It has helped me a lot in learning to judge corners and their various apex points quickly on the fly, as well as generally also being able to grasp unknown tracks more quickly. Last karting heat I started 3 laps late and still was 1st place with ease on an unknown track, with 2 seconds ahead of 2nd place. This was by fastest lap btw. Only once I had a nice drift due to my slicks getting wet because of a wet patch on the track, but other than that I didn't have a single case of wheelspin. It was a nice heat.
Very nice tips. I've got to known the racing driving style by watching f1 and other types of racing, and playing racing video games. My style is aggressive, but sophisticated. I usually get to drive kart a few times a year, so don't get to choose a kart, or set it up to my own preferences, nor do I know how. What is good, is that I can adapt to different karts and circuits really easily, and perform just as good. I try to be smooth, while maintaining reallly high speeds. When I get behind someone, I won't let him go more than 1m away from me, Only way he's getting rid of me, is by getting overtaken by me. I really like driving any sort of vehile to be honest.
DuckHunter I am the same. I just drive the rentals basically. There is no single racing driving style though. As far as I can see the driving style is derived from the mentality and emotions of the driver. Prost was 'The Professor' a thinker, but Senna was an emotional man. One thinks more corners ahead and is cool, while the other does also plan ahead but easily gets heated up emotionally while driving. The thing is that no matter what you have to adapt your driving style to the situation at all times, because both the kart and track change nature every lap. So when your rear tyres get too hot and slippery you have to become more calculating and tacticle with the attacks on your opponent. Sticking to his rear by 1m doesn't help as you will just end up driving his line on the track, because you essentially get caught up in his rhythm. That said, maintaining speed through all corners doesn't always give a faster laptime. Cause the exit of a corner is more important than the entry, so slow in fast out. So what in essence you should maintain is not speed but momentum, or put differently... you need to minimize the effort the kart engine has to make to increase speed again. If there is too much scrub or resistance on the wheels at exit it will slow down your acceleration. That is what it means to be smooth. Easiest way is to try to minimize your steering input, become more economical/efficient. Or as Jackie would word it... be gentle with it, feed it in so that the kart can respond. Cause if you suddenly jerk the wheel it will upset the kart and it will do things you don't want. In the end if you spare your tyres and brakes, you can be aggressive and heated when the time is right. However, if you are a constantly aggressive driver and wear out your tyres and brakes quickly or overheat either than you will end up limiting yourself. You can only be aggressive for so long until something stops working efficiently and stopping you from being fast enough. I love driving any vehicle as well. I own a Lancia Delta model that came after the famous Integrale. It doesn't look like much, but still people like to race me every once in a while or just move aside (M3, RS4, TT, etc). I don't know why though, as I only have a 105hp 1.6 16v engine in that little car of mine. So it's nothing special. Maybe it's the aura of me the driver and the driving style I have, even though I am driving within the limits of traffic laws. I really have no clue.
One more time. Just for the people who can't be bothered to read the description, or who don't seem to know anything about racing in any category: 1) This was free practice. 2) There was no formation lap, as you would find in most categories of kart racing. 3) As you can quite clearly see on a number of the laps, the driver looks behind and waved his hand to let Max through. This is out of courtesy, knowing that Max maybe on a better tire, or maybe wanting to lap faster. 4) This was free practice. Yes, I know I said it as number one as well, I just thought it was worth saying a second time for all the retarded people here. God, I do hope this will stop all of the commenters saying silly things.
A little over a year ago he was doing this, and this weekend, he officially became the youngest driver in F1 history, taking part in FP1 at Suzuka. Amazing!

3 years later he is a f1 racer for toro rosso
+Faahriez F thats how fast it can go.....if you got the speed then teams will notice you.
+Faahriez F And he is the Stig.
ramon709 really?
Update: he's racing for RedBull
HDReeZeD yes
Damn fast on the track - damn fast in the pit lane, too :-)
thanks jos for made your boy a 4 tim champ in F1
Verstappen was born to drive fast cars ! He is a shark on road !!
11 years later he goes on to win his 4th championship
Not again 😢😢😢😢😢
Future F1 World Champ right there..
well, that was a good prediction

looking at this video, this guy has to be in f1 in a few years!! his driving skills are out of this world.
Are you stupid? He is already in f1 since 2015 this video is from 2013 he has already won many races with red bull.
1 year later he's been told he will be a F1 driver for 2014... that escalated quickly :D
2015*
AlonsoWDC2017 *2017
he has been a f1 driver for longer than this season only dawg ^^
Look at your Commerzbank now
He's definitely in touch with the limits of the kart
One more time. Just for the people who can't be bothered to read the description, or who don't seem to know anything about racing in any category:
1) This was free practice.
Clint Tapper I love It . Iam a go kart driver and I'm of to England for a race this weekend
We're so lucky to have an enlightened person that clearly stands above us in terms of knowledge and status, to teach us our shortcomings.
Jesus, relax.
Good luck with forcing UA-cam commenters into not saying silly things
Clint Tapper you can just say its free pracrise instead of writing the Divine Comedy
Great footage, good to see the track again but this time from the tarmac :)
Driving these things are really stressful, so much harder than it looks.
A little over a year ago he was doing this, and this weekend, he officially became the youngest driver in F1 history, taking part in FP1 at Suzuka.
Amazing!
3 years later win the spanish gran prix
That's driving ! Well done , smooth
Max is the best overtaker
Max and Carlos sainz did an awesome job in qualifying lets see how they go today in melbourne
Need more places to pass....bridges, hill turns, long straight aways etc. Wider lanes in certain places, maybe a 2 story step down to underpass, corkscrew to a swirly staircase like incline
Clark Kent
And cars still wouldn’t manage a pass.
wow what a trip thanks for the upload:-):-)
im sure if he made a mistake or anything his father would be extremely sympathetic and understanding
Hello nah 😂
Hey now , his father would reward him with a free walk all the way home...
@@randar1969 He was told to drive home with his mother and sister 10 min behind them on the same road in Italy because they drove 1500km to see Max race and Max threw it away after one corner uninterested and unmotivated and could drive 1500km back home after a hour in Italy. That is normal in your family and creates social media trolls but in Dutch culture you don’t do that, we take kids serious, hold them responsible and prepare them for real life, tough love upbringing., specially when one kid does a expensive sport and the whole family lives for it.
See what mommy and daddy being your best friend brought you, nothing.
awesome driver is what i saw.....awesome video....one of the best as far as iam concerned...
the hardest part about gokarting is not crashing into the slow ass mother fuckers that cant drive
All of these Guys can drive its the european championship
Hum I somewhat disagree the hard part of karting is being good enough to not hit the slower drivers... If your racing around and struggling to avoid bad drivers or back markers then your just as bad a driver as they are. But yeah a lot of the times it's hard to avoid the twats.

007Grandy not true but someone always has an opposition for the sake of opposition I supose
007Grandy you cant possibly predict the randomness of new drivers or their intentional actions.
Complimenti questo si che è guidare!!👏👏👏👏
MAX 1ST PLACE SPANISH GRAND PRIX
Never saw a more precise driver at any level. Verstappen is going to be a great one.
+Drex Mason must be kidding....look after almost every overtake the stressed movements on steering wheel...talent=smoother ride and keeping calm
Maybe somewhat stressed, but he hits every line perfectly. He hasn't done bad in Formula one for a teenager either.
+Drex Mason let me disagree with the 'every line perfectly' but yes he is doing well on F1 as it seems for a teenager. Do not forget it is elite driver racing challenge with all the backround of managers, money and everything other involved. If you have the right team you can be champ like Rosberg and Hamilton this year.
ain’t no way he pulled off the same dive bomb at the same corner like 8 times
It's a Free Practice session as mentioned on the description. They are not racing, everybody is running their program and staying out of each other's way.
This man has a great future in F1 .
He would be a good Red Bull driver
Naaah, I'm sure he will be a Ferrari driver. No success to be had at Red Bull.
Awesome driving mate
In 5 years , i finally got engaged at McDonald’s....
nice man so awesome, watched the hole race, just missed the finish line :D
He wouldnt have what it takes, f1 is a real competitive sport, lets see him make it to f2 first...
I agree, slow progression for this dude.

faster than everyone on the first half of the track. pretty solid driving.
This guy can be f1 world champion 🏆
Before every big break point he is in the highest posible revs of his gear to get the most hp. Very calculated and very skilled indeed.
Max is the only guy who passes in F1 :) The rest is just...followers..
Per Folkesson pure roids!
Un carajo para ti.
Per Folkesson I think you’ll find a guy by the name of Daniel Ricciardo is widely regarded as one of the most aggressive passers in F1.
No. But Crashtappen is the only one that consistently runs into others.
Because he is the only one taking risks others dont crash they just follow yawn zzzzzz
OMG that looks like sooooo much fun!
It's truly amazing, but at 6:45, isn't the guy in cart 35 _signaling_ Max, to go and pass him? (I mean: are they racing for the same team, or...? (again: great racing, though)
Just as the title says, it's free practice! They're not racing, they're practicing last day before official racing.
I think he means the description
Yes, sorry, I meant description indeed. Title doesn't say anything. There is no international race that allows onboard video during a race session, it's only free practices.
Thanks for responding, guys!
I was so confused XD
I love how some of the other drivers seem to look back when they hear him coming like.. What?? How is anyone being faster then I am right now?
It must be scary to be chased by Max.. driving on your limit and at the same time bracing yourself for an attack you know is coming but not when or where.
This guys is actually great, he should be in F2 or even F1 as a reserve driver for Toro Rosso right now!
Might be a bit late for torro Rosso.....
so smooth good work
Future 2-time (1-time non-hollow) world champion.

His first world championship was my favorite I’ve ever watched and the only one I rewatch…the best. So speak for yourself. I can think of 6 championships just off the top of my head that ended with a winner that could be disputed under strict interpretations.
That's lame. Other people got 7 WDCs.
