      @@jacktritton Curious question, why do shifter karts always have the stick mounted to the steering axle assembly? Is that compulsary? Paddles would be so much less stressful for the left wrist that has to handle the wheel torque alone, for a good deal of the time, especially on short bendy circuits.

      We have some fine race vids from Woodbridge Kart Club at West Virgina's famous Summit Point Raceway with both the Super karts & the laydowns or Enduro Karts. Races with them & the guys from WKA for 15 years & Summit is much like Cadwell. They don't run Laydowns in Europe nor the B Stocks which are Laydowns with two 100cc engines. Very fast & as good as any club that runs Karts. Summit Point is 2.1 miles & 10 turns with some elevation changes, very fast & as challenging as Cadwell & boy if i were Europe i would love to run there. As of 2024 the Kart lap record is 1:10 & on a2.1 mile road course that's fast. That record was with a 250cc laydown Superkart. Seen them all than you know what i mean. if not check the race vids from Summit out.

      The engine is very fast and it’s the best the kart has ever handled for me. My driving style has always been smooth but I’m having to be slightly more aggressive in this which is hard for me. Thank you for the comment 😁

    • @jasonclark3057
      @jasonclark3057 5 місяців тому +3

      You're right about the set up of the kart. But you have to remember that the kart doesn't set itself up. It's down to the driver's feedback that dictates whether to add or remove grip by moving the wheels/tyres inwards or outwards or to adjust the chassis stiffness instead. Also, the engine will only be at it's quickest if it has been jetted correctly.
      I've seen many a seized Rotax twin because it has been run just that bit too lean in the search for the ultimate power output.
      People are often surprised at just how complicated setting up a kart to be at it's optimum can actually be.
      But yep, very smooth driving style.
      Smoothest is always quickest. The fastest drivers are always the ones that seem to be doing the least amount of work behind the wheel.

    Stupid question probably, so forgive my ignorance, but why no flappy pedal shifters on the steering wheel or steering column? Seems that would be much faster than the handle that's being used here? If they're steering wheel-mounted, it would also mean you wouldn't have to let go of the wheel to shift. Is it due to regulations? Or some other, technical reason? Or am I perhaps mistaken and it wouldn't be faster? In any case, that was some awesome racing, wow those are some high speeds with such a small vehicle. Awesome to watch, truly, you have some serious skill. Takes guts as well to go that fast in a vehicle that doesn't offer all that much protection, which means it's mostly skill that's keeping you safe

      @BinaryBlueBull 2 місяці тому +2

      @@Tristan_M279 Interesting to know, thanks a lot for the feedback. That tells me that, as a layman, I'm missing something and there will be a reason they're not all that popular. Perhaps technical, perhaps financial, perhaps mechanical, perhaps performance-based.... but there will be a reason for it

    • @jacktritton
      @jacktritton  Місяць тому

      Thank you for your comment and kind words. There is one kart on the grid with a paddle shift that they made for themselves. I agree with you that it would be better to have paddle shifts but no one makes them to sell at the minute and the driver that has them has been trialling it to see how he gets on. Hopefully it will be something we can buy in the future or look at making ourselves.

    Going into the downhill right kink when you’re downshift on your entrance it was the track that ruff or were you just chattering the rear end it jumped from normal 1-2g’s to 3 to 6 g’s was it because it’s hard it was hard to match downshift RPM with slowing the cart down ? 130 mph plus is cooking .. in my sprint chassis 125 Honda shifter on the longest track I run on my mycron I barely touch 103mph . The normal sprint tracks with 700’ to 900’ long straights we run 79-85 mph . Though my corner g load is 2.5 G’s on on track with a banked right hand after the straight it’ll touch 3 G’s

I raced what are called Laydown Karts or Enduro Karts which they don't race in Europe but we have many classes & the 125s & 250s along with what we call B Stocks which have two 100cc engines which in the 70s were 135s & twin clutches are the fastest . Lots of great vids should you want to see the Karting worlds fastest Karts here & in Europe. Here is a link that will show you you may be missing. I had to find one vid that was not long as the races are 45 minutes but you can look at them if you lie what you see here & this class will do about 120 MPH down the strait . Best kept secret in Motorsports if you ask me . Summit Point is 2,1 Miles & 10 turns , Kart record is 1:11 Track record is 1'03 by a Formula Atlantic car from SCCA.

    Wow Im blown away man. Takes big nuts and lotsa skill to run one of those nice job.
    Wondered if mirrors would help see behind but might vibrate so bad its a waste?
    Ignore the troll comments, probably from kids playing video games thinking this is easy
    Shoulda got into this instead of old cars, lots more fun!
    Are there any classes that use any kind of suspension or would it add too much weight, cost etc. Love to take a few laps just once...pay up my insurance first!

    • @jacktritton
      @jacktritton  13 днів тому

      Thank you for your comment.
      I think mirrors would cause more accidents due to people trying to move last minute to block people and the vibrations would also be a lot :)
      All karts have no suspension, I don't know if anyone ever tried it but I think no suspension adds to the experience.
      If you ever get the chance to have a go, snap the deal up :)
