@@tuprakshakir2083 WHAT?! haha. 2016 Mercedes was the best. He only was able to win because HAM and ROS killed each other lap one. And even then the Ferrari should have won but max did his magic.
People seem to think that "he just has a faster kart." While tuning and equipment does indeed improve performance, it doesn't win you races, let alone international ones like this. Every driver at a race like this has tremendous funding and very knowledgeable mechanics who can tune the shit out of the karts. What you see here is pure driving skill (remember this is rotax, where every engine is the same and the single speed gear box makes driver skill even more vital to differentiate yourself). I believe the way he is able to obliterate the competition in this video is that he has perfected his braking technique so well that he is able to corner at the right speed while keeping the engine rpm's in the power band to allow for maximum acceleration out of corners. If you watch other really good drivers, you can just hear it when they brake. The engine noise stops, and then as they lift off it comes back but at a weaker sound. This is called bogging down the engine, and doing so in rotax guarantees that you will have no power/acceleration out of the corners. Few can master their braking and become so smooth that they always have power and grip. Max is one of those few.
Liam no one doubts he has talent, but having an engine that is 1 tenth faster is a huge advantage, it’s not like f1 where the difference between 1st and 10th is 1 second per lap basically... plus, when you have a father like his that spends hundreds of thousands every year for karting, when you can go practice basically everyday, crash the kart and not have to worry at all for the costs, it makes everything a lot easier... his dad decided he was going to be a driver from birth and if I was able to practice most days of the week like he did, and if I had his equipment, i would’ve also been on that level if not near to it, as would many others
Partly true, if youve driven rotax you know the engines come back just as quick as whats shown on the video. Max has just mastered braking hard, most of us brake like this > slam hard on the brakes (we know about where its gonna lock) > and we come straight off the brakes just a little (hence the kart twitches as the rear locks for a split second), Max on the otherhand, like Lando Norris and George Russell - seem to have learnt the exact amount of brake pressure required for max braking...its like their controlling pressure in the left foot down to 10s of grams...like blipping at that level is insanity. trying to brake alongside him as late as him is impossible - go straight into the run off area, he goes in hot and comes out hot - thats something thats only going to happen with a LOT of practice where driving style and setup are both optimized.
