We live in a small community 35 miles west of Boston and have owned an L5740 w/factory cab since 2008. It is a wonderful machine which is used by my wife and by me throughout the year. We could not take care of our property without it. Many thanks for your well prepared and well presented videos. You are providing a valuable service which is greatly appreciated.
I have an L4760 and the more I check out the MX series tractors the more I am glad I got the L4760. I use it for managing 6 acres (including a vineyard) and it does everything very well.
Wow! I've never owned a tractor. My wife says I need one and told me yesterday, " I want a tractor!." I asked if she was going to use it. "No, I'll watch you use it." I am resisting. How insane am I? I have done significant window shopping however and identified these 60 hp units. I could never have learned the differences without this video. Thank you for caring!
Great video. You don’t need to be an “inexperienced” operator to enjoy the benefits of the H-DS system however. I’ve had an MX but vastly prefer the transmission in the L60 series.
If your customer wants to use a 3 point no-till drill like many food plotters are starting to, the 3 point lift capacity is quite important. The mx doesn’t have enough lift for some of the most common drills sold.
@@MessicksEquip The genesis models are getting to be one of the more common ones and are almost all used 3 point. Land pride / Great plains 3p606NT is another one. The L6060 could probably work with it (barely) but the MX doesn't have enough lift.
Not sure how heavy a drill you been looking at. Although I have a 10' shredder with a 25 gallon spray tank on the back of my MX6000. That set up weighs 1700 lbs. Been thinking about getting a 4 row JD7000 for it.
something interesting- in the video, you mention that the R4 tires cannot be swapped from L6060 to MX, with the MX’s front tires being quite a but larger in diameter than the L60. However, if you look at the R1 tires, they are identical for both machines. 14.9-26 for the rear, and 9.5-16 for the front. So my question is, does the gearing have to change on the L60 to go to R1’s / or possibly the MX? I had never heard if this before but it’s interesting. I just checked and turf tires are the same for both machines also. It appears just the R4’s are different from MX to L6060. Weird.
Nice video, looking at these two machines right now. Sold my L3430, and want to move up to the larger engine. If MX had the separate 3 point lift cylinders, I would go with the MX-6000 hands down. I seem to recall the lifting specs on the MX for the FEL is greater than the L6060, or am I mistaken?
Nick, appreciate your Videos very much. I will have to make a decision between an L6060 and MX6000 soon. I understand that the MX6000 is a more basic Tractor which is reflected in the Price tag. Regarding capabilities, I‘m still not sure were the main differences are. Can you give a specific example of a task(s) you would perform with the MX6000 but would hesitate or not recommend doing with an L6060. On the other hand, in what area(s) is the L6060 more capable. Thanks in advance for any responses.
I still don't understand why Kubota continues to use those terrible cab lights. For these prices, nice bright LED's would be great in those nice OEM housings. When I use my lights for night time FEL or backhoe work it's like using the old two D cell incandescent flashlights with brownish lighting and terrible hot spots with no real flood light coverage. They look nice and sparkly in the daytime but at night they are really lacking.
xplmr1 - I converted mine to HID bulbs while retaining the stock enclosures. I removed the roof and installed the ballasts inside near the radio. Brightness is exceptional, no radio interference like most LEDs, and lower power consumption once ignited.
@@tylermacconnell217 Wow, that seems like a lot of work! How hot do your HID bulbs get when on? I've read they can get to over 300 degrees. That would melt the plastic OEM housing. That 5000-6000K color temp must look like you harnessed the Sun in your cab.
front loader specs? does the front loader on the mx lift more than the Grand L? most of the L's ive seen have a 1500# capacity loader where the mx has the 2200# capacity loader..... makes a world of difference when doing work moving things like gravel.

Would the mx be good to run a finish mower as well? Would like a big enough tractor to use around the farm but also pull a finish mower for the yard... I guess my main concern is wondering if the mx is too heavy to be used in the yard?
Neil, have you ever set up a L6060 with the front rims of the MX on it, but wrapped in a 31.5X13.00-16.5 E/10PR tire? I’ve read that this set up produces a with-in 1% lead in the front to rear 4wd gear ration, compared to a 2.9% lag, the stock wheels, with factory R4 tires, produces.
We sell both styles of engine. Just watch the sleazley Mahindra sales people that say they have no emissions. A DOC only engine is always in regen, as opposed to doing it periodically.
Is there a Cat 2 to cat one converter? I would have thought the more basic MX would have been able to lift more. Interesting. Is there a mid PTO kit for the MX?
Hey Neil, great videos, quick question i've watched your videos on the Grand L6060 and HST plus transmission video's. Ive sat in both of these machines and both seem to be great machines in 60hp class. So my question is understanding that there is alot going on, How do all the transmission settings work when running a PTO implement such as rotary cutter or PTO chipper or Snowblower etc. Stall guard and advance throttle and etc. Also i'm new to hydra-static world, and in gear world 90% of tasks i would be running in Mid range gearing from 1st+2nd for loader and slow PTO and 3rd+4th for travel and mowing. Would i hurt the L6060 in midrange doing these same tasks? I truly dont want to hurt the hydraulics on a new tractor.

You keep adding options to the MX and before you know it you basically have a Grand L, trouble is you get someone who wants to be able to run equipment off a mid PTO that doesn't want or need all the bells and whistles of the Grand L and doesnt want to spend the extra 7K and you've lost a sale.
