I like your method of using the box as a net. I just purchased some platys for my 125 and might have to look into getting one of these. I have a marina external box. But it's kind of a hassle to set up.
I disagree. The best breeder box in my opinion is the marina external hang on breeder boxes. They come in 3 sizes, are air driven to have proper water flow and oxygenation, and completely removes the female from the other fish. I have proven these breeder boxes not only work great but are 100% guppy safe and doesn't cause to much stress. However when it comes to breeder boxes it's not the boxes for the most part that cause stress it's people who don't know how to properly set up a breeder box be it internal like your net breeder or external like my hang on boxes. Proper water flow is a must with any breeder box. Simply adding a net breeder to your tank is not ideal as it restricts the flow greatly. Proper placement next to a bubbler or sponge filter is needed to create flow inside the breeder box.
I think the Marina breeder box is a great option for some, however I believe for the majority of people the net breeder is going to be the better choice. Too many people chase there fish trying to move them to an external breeder box. Do you use the divider when you use the marina box?

For that 125g I'd definitely go with the large breeder box.

Thanks! Hope you subscribed!
good to know
Glad you found it helpful!
Nice, but how do you do water changes with a net breeder? water level is going down and it's hard to keep the net in water...
Keep your tank filled
@@IansFishRoom I see what you mean, but it's too complex for my setup. I will stick to the floating breeders box - best for me. Thanks..
They somehow get out of the net breeding box 😭
A lot of fish jump so I recommend a lid and the net breeder adjusted so it's as close to the lid as you can get it.

If used for a female to drop her fry yes I do. If used to just house fish or fry no.
