- Is the Kibble you're feeding your Dog/Cat actually causing disease?
Travis Einertson, DVM graduated Colorado State in 94. He has worked for years on small animal medicine and surgery. In 2001, he learned how to achieve remission in diabetic cats using very low carb diets. This changed how he viewed clinical nutrition to treat/prevent disease in pets

My vet doesn’t like that I’ve fed my dog raw for 8 years. It resolved her allergies, dry skin, and ear infections. She’s almost 16 years old and going strong.
I switched my cat to raw and she lost the weight and started playing again. She’s 13 now.
What does a day of food look like are you supplementing vitamins . Just curious I thought of feeding mine raw but I keep hearing they will be deficient
Not deficient at all. Her recent blood work was perfect! Shocked the vet. So I feed a complete raw from All Provide. I’ve also fed Darwin raw food. I like them both. Easier to transition a dog than a cat! I feed room temperature not cooked at all.
My 55 lb dog eats 1 pound per day. Cat eats 1/4 lb per day. Both split between 2 meals. It’s all based on weight and each raw vendor will assist with your pets needs.
YEAH!
Isn't it great?!
My dog & cats are in the best health of their life from raw feeding!
My min pin just passed away in March. He was on raw and dehydrated raw diet and was extremely healthy. He was just shy of his 21 st birthday in May. Miss my sweet little guy!
😰🙏💖
My favourite babies! I just got a new one, she was a very sick pup and got her off the kibble.
Wow, 21 is approximately 120 human years, the theoretical max for us, genetically. Using the modern calculation, not 7 yrs per human years.
Our 15-yr old dog has been on a raw diet since being a puppy. At first our vet said he could not condone the raw diet. He now says our senior dog is one of his healthiest “clients” and strongly speaks out against dry kibble for ANY pet. Except for a decrease in hearing, our dog is continuing to do very well. San Antonio, TX
Yea! don't worry so much about the hearing, my Beagle does not hear well at all, only when the refrigerator door opens, then get out of the way.
Can you tell me how to do this? I want to cook the meat. But do you think it should be raw.
Is the raw food all meat, or do you add veggies as a filler? Like sweet potatoes or green beans, etc...
@familyintheartic should be raw, not cooked. They can eat raw chicken bones too, muscle, and organs. Green tripe is ideal for supplementing and raw goats milk is also great
@@familyintheartic a REALLY good place to start is @pawsofprey here on UA-cam. She goes into a lot of detail that’s still easy to understand for beginners and advanced raw feeders.
I’ve learned more from these two doctors on how to feed my pets than the last 30 years from my vets 🙏
Hey friend! I'm interviewing him tomorrow too! :)
Amen!!!!! My veterinarian told me she feeds her dog that garbage Science diet kibble-😮
When i changed my 14 y/o cats diet from commercial cat food to white fish and chicken breast, the transformation was fantastic, she looked better than she ever did. She lived to 21.
Hi I’ve just got a rescue cat , did you cook the chicken and fish? Thank you
@@christinebeames712 taurine ..make sure gets some
@@christinebeames712 yes. You can boil the chicken and fish, or you can cook it in a crock pot, or bake it. Add no salt to it. If there is not enough flavor for your dog or wont eat it, you can add a tiny little chicken broth.
I have 2 outside cats that will not eat fresh meats. They walk away. They eat canned cat food and dry kibbles. Two insane cats. At least my dogs have a brain. LOL
Did you supplement with anything else?
Hello from Butler, TN. Back in the late 90's I had a male cat who nearly died from a urethral blockage due to crystals in his urine. Vet recommended a Rx diet, first ingredient being corn. Although I didn't have access to the information we do now, I knew cats were supposed to be carnivores. So I put him on wet food supplemented with cooked chicken. He never had another blockage, and that started my mistrust of any nutrition advice coming from the vet.
That's because carnivores are supposed to get the majority of their water from their food, and not getting that is a huge issue for male cats. People/vets dont get that.
Is freeze dried raw dog food ok to feed my dog who has seasonal allergies
Vets are trained on a bias- and play into the hands of greedy drug & food corporations who are bought & paid for.... nothing new about that. Ppl food & medical are pretty bad too. Evil & greed are alive & well.
I just started my 2 kitties on cooked chicken and fish a little over a couple of weeks ago…..if I mix in a little kibble , they manage to always leave the kibble…..guess I wasted money on that last bag!😆
Vets are just people regurgitating data!
Hi, a Polish vet (in Singapore) here! Recommend to cat and dog owners meat and organs only and, wait.. mainly raw. Fixes loads of health problems. And I do not support neutering unless for justified medical reasons. My oldest patient on raw meat only, a border collie back in Wales lived to 22 in good health. And a treat for rabbits - dandelion leaves and flower or two. Good luck 😊
What meats exactly? How long can it be refrigerated before no good? Any meat preparation tips?
How do you prevent pregnancy?
We have an approx 3 yr old female dog mix large breed weighing around 80/90lbs. We neutered her about a yr ago, she's put on weight because of it.
Also have a 16 mon old male unneutered large breed. A new female pup possibly great dane mix, under 4 months of age I think, weight approx 25lbs. Another new male pup I'm guessing is around 2 months of age, weighing prob 10/15lbs, prob large breed.
No need for bone meal?
Please can I have paid online consultation with you ? I am about to fix my cat and I really don’t want to . I feel as there’s nothing I want more now , but to talk to a veterinarian who thinks the same ! I’m in California, but moving to Thailand in few weeks . With my cat 🖤
I appreciate this video tremendously. As far as cost goes, chicken livers, discounted meat etc are easily available in grocery stores. There’s just no excuse for bad food. The dog food industry makes billions creating crap. As always Dr. Berry is brilliant!
You know when you learn. This is so true. We will always be ok when we go with what is true
My dogs are on 80% homemade food and 20% raw, including chicken bones. I can't imagine a living being, whether human or animal, being able to live well and healthy on 100% processed food!!!!!
Just had a kitten and she is being fed raw food. So I appreciate this info.
My cat (at 10 years old) suffered from kidney issues and had very patchy fur and dry skin. My vet didn’t give me much hope aside from harsh medications, so I decided to switch her food to raw food. All her kidney issues went away and her fur came back thicker and softer than it had ever been. Her aggression issues went away and her whole personality shifted for the better. She became playful again. The change was remarkable. She ended up passing away peacefully in her sleep earlier this year at 24 years old. Best cat I’ve ever had. Raw food saved her life. Switching to raw food was the best decision I’ve ever made.
Did you make her food or buy it .If you made it please post the recipe? If bought it -name please Thank You.
That’s a fantastic testament!
I foster/train dogs and cats 24/7/365. I feed them and me a raw meat - zero carb diet.
The physical appearance and behavioral improvement in all of us eating raw meat-zero carb v.s. processed poison is truely amazing.
@@roseannpemberton1305Yes, please. If you could list what you were making and feeding your cat, that would be awesome. I just bought a product from Doctor Andrew Jones DMV online and followed his recipe for cat raw food and my cat hates. It freaking hates. has also puked it up.
@@Habanero777 I was just about to try that recipe. Just bought the ground turkey. Maybe I'll try another recipe.
We have a 5 year old miniature poodle, a rescue . . . he began having seizures at around 1, and I finally learned that too much salt can cause seisures in dogs - he'd been the beneficiary of table scraps, and hubby and I use quite a bit of salt! For a dog that was about 5 lbs, it was just too much. I researched dog foods, finally switched to making his food, and we've been seizure-free for several years now!
Thanks for your story Julia. My mini poodle had a seizure at around 1 and has just had a second. Good to know about the salt. I've also read that people can reduce seizures with low carb so I'm putting my dog on zero carbs now.
what is your recipe for homemade food?
@@cbarksda I don't have a set recipe. Last night was wallaby mince, raw egg, and a chicken neck. There are lots of ideas/recipes online to help you give them a balanced diet. Depends on when I've been shopping as well.
What do you feed your 5 lb. Dog? And how much. We have always fed him raw and he is 8 years old. He keeps gaining weight. We do give him eggs and green beans as treats. We feed about 1.6-2 oz. Of raw beef from pet store.
@@pattys7429try freeze dried beef liver as a treat. They love it!
My 15 year old cat became very sick and his kidneys were said to be failing. The vet told us he just wasn't going to get any better and let him have whatever he would eat until he died. He refused a kidney prescription cat food. So I started syringe feeding him pureed chicken with a supplement. Once he started eating without the syringe, I started giving him a very moist pate canned food, just Fancy Feast Gravy Centers which was all that he would eat. Then started adding Epakitin phosphate binder and Kidney Gold drops. He recovered completely over time and now, 3 1/2 years later, has NORMAL kidney panel values. He still drinks and urinates more than a normal cat but continues to astound his veterinarian.
Hi my dog has stags four kidney disease. Him ans i been on this diet. But for the past four days he juat got sick. He just came out of the hospital one night 5000 dollar thousand. Can i reverse this. I cant lose my dog
I was feeding my American Eskimo grain free kibble and a mix of meat, eggs, organs, and bone meal. He is 9 and was like a lazy old man, sleeping most of the day, a few pounds overweight, and often liked to sleep in my closet in the dark during the day.
A few months ago, I dumped the kibble, and the difference in his health as amazing! He lost weight,is more muscular, has way more energy, and has become more social and seems younger and happier.
Did you take time to transition or just change it all
right away?
Once, in PetSmart I looked for the most expensive cat food, both dry and canned that I could find in the store. I don't remember the brand names but for all of them, the first ingredient was CORN. $$ doesn't mean healthy. Read labels!
Corn and peas or pea meal are major no-nos.
For that matter, Corns not even good for humans@@lydialedbetter2041
I recently transitioned my 9 yr old pitty mix to a higher fat 0 carb diet. She recently had a tumor removed and was diagnosed with mast cell cancer. I hope a carnivore diet with help her live more years with me! I also eat carnivore and have reversed T2D, fatty liver disease and other medical issues. My dog's name is Joy. She is a rescue dog and she's brought lots of joy to my life. I'm 72 yo, btw.
How did you do the transition?
Bless your precious heart Joanie. Please pray pray pray and keep on praying because prayer is the most powerful tool that we have 🙏 MARINATHA LORD JESUS ✝️💜😇👍
Good luck! You are probably gonna have much better luck saving her than the grain fed doggies!
Keeping my fingers crossed for Joy
God bless you! I lost my cat to cancer! Crazy. I know their food is crap. Even the grain free crap on the market that costs uber 💰
I'm located in Utah, and it is very surprising how much stuff I've learned from a dog nutrition person during the time when I was showing my Amstaffs. I learned about puppy food and its relation to dysplasia, especially in large (heavy) breeds, I learned how spaying and neutering too early, before they fully mature, can affect the dog's health. We need more vets that actually care about the health of the animal, not only the amount of money they will charge for each procedure.
What age is a dog fully mature to be spayed or neutered? Thank you.
@@Shakashack2022 I was told that the age of 3 is when the dog is fully developed.
@@Shakashack2022three to four years old.
My dog is 12 still intact. A retired vet told me it's all about money and not to do it. And I wouldn't do it anyway cause it never set right in my soul
Thankyou Dr's wonderful to have my thoughts confirmed and huge respect for a Dr that's says " I don't know" a great man that with great knowledge and is humble enough to admit that the research has not been done, can't wait for his book, you guys are tops👏
Cheddar the cat was tragically separated from her mother (likely crawled under a vehicle and was thrown off). She was found in horrible shape (over heated and tortured by flees). She is now 6 years of age and has never had any food other than raw carnivore. She is the strongest cat I've ever had or watched; has never been sick; hunts occasionally; chooses to live her life half indoors and half outdoors; very natural while affectionate and sociable. She no longer attracts flees and ticks. Cheddar eats raw beef liver (with a can of sardines per week). She also asks for cheese, sometimes egg, other fish, raw or cooked beef and even beef fat trimmings. We watch her as we prepare our carnivore meal and she "tells" us what she wants. She never asks for treats outside of her meal times. Interestingly, she sometimes eats twice a day and once-a-day other times. . .BUT, she also fasts herself a few times a month. She is natural, so she can "hear" her own needs. We provide a litter box, but she asks to go outside rather than use the box. Our costs are so minimal! We buy litter (pine crumbles) for $7 one time per year. She eats 2.5 lbs of beef liver a week, 1 can sardines plus a little cheese, etc. ($3 per week). Never needed a veterinarian. No fur balls. No parasitic overload. . .it is natural for all living creatures to have parasites/bacterium. Her teeth are perfect. She even escapes fights with wild animals and other cats. Now. . .try to put her on a leash or dress her in any way. . .she's a wild beast! Not happening.
PS: Joy and I eat a lot of the same things, but I do buy her a pet food meat grind that a local butcher sells, one of which is a beef organ mix with bone meal, runs about $3 for 2lbs. I also get chicken hearts, livers and gizzards for her and I share my beef fat trimmings with her and eggs, meat & bone broth, steak, salmon, sardines and so much more. Both me and Joy are an N1 experiment.

I rescued a 9 yr old dog, who was not doing well with kidney and liver function , the vets wanted to put him to sleep...i put the little guy on a carnaior diet, now a year later ans all markers are great. It seems that Vets are more missninformed than most doctors and sadly most of people. Thx fo4 this information DocB.
Do you cook your meat or feed raw.
How did you no how to do this I’ve been wanting to do this with my dogs and cats but worried I’d give to much or to little I’m on carnivore myself And I add some to their food witch I no is probably pointless
@@rosemarynettro6879 I place it in boiling water for a couple seconds with a little bacon grease and pink sault...they seem to love it.

All classical schooled doctors are operating in favor of the big food industries and pharma industries and medical fields. Vets also.
So no much to expect.
This big industrials and the others profiting from it are interrested in keeping the industries going.
Do not expect a drug pusher, to feed the entire drug industry to care about your health and natural living.
The only thing we are lucky in...is the life saving operations when you have accidents and your intestines are spread over the floor or you broke your leg.
I’m in Berkeley. I feed my 19 yr old female cat mostly canned Wellness Chicken or turkey and chicken w/lobster.She doesn’t like fish and won’t touch kibble. She drinks tons of water and always has. I give her filtered water. She looks half her age and is still playful and not at all fat. I‘be always worried about how much water she drinks but she’s always done it.she is totally indoor, never needs flea treatment or vaccinations. Her name is Willie.she’s a happy cat.
You need to feed your cats a species appropriate raw food diet. DO THE RESEARCH. Watch videos by Dr. Karen Becker DVM. STOP FEEDING COMMERCIAL FOOD. It is garbage.
I fed my dog dry food for the first six years of her life. At six years old- Bladder stone surgery to the tune of 3k. I switched over to homemade real food with organ meat and veggies. No more bladder stones the rest of her life.
I couldn’t finish watching this. I was just too triggered by the topic. I had failed my cats to such a great degree with my ignorance. Their passing was not easy and was emotional devastating for my husband and myself. I wish I knew then what I know now.
We didn't know, we were fooled. I feel i failed my 2 sons in their childhood, I wasted and stress about their Recommended daily intact, 2 fruit/5 vege ect..and gave them lots of whole grain fibre. I even feed them margarine. They are both mainly carnivore now with a bit of rice here and there. It feels awful doesn't it.
I’m in Branson, Mo.
I cannot get my cat to eat anything but what the shelter fed her. I’ve been trying since 2015. She is overweight and the vets I’ve tried taking her to the vet and they will not treat her because she is so aggressive when she gets there. She’s the mellowest girl at home with me.
I think all of us would have fed our kids and pets differently if we'd known then what we are learning now. As we learn better we do better.

I'm a pet sitter and I have one home where I sit for two cats. They are fed the RAWR raw meat cat food two times a day. I was instructed to put a couple tablespoons of warm water into their food at each meal. I'm thinking this is to give them more hydration. She really takes great care of her cats!
EDIT: What do feral cats eat? Not grass and berries. They catch rodents and birds
Good point on what feral cats eat. Your clients are lucky to have you.
I had an elderly small shihtzu that stopped eating when her mate passed a few years back, I put her on Keto with me ,she just passed at almost 18, wow
I have a black lab/ part pit bull. As as pup, she was extremely active. Seven yrs later, she put on a ton of weight and slowed down quite a bit. Not as active, seemed to have arthritis and hip pain. She wouldn't jump anymore. I had to help her get up on to her hind legs. I researched and saw that labs were prone to hip issues. My wife and I discussed possibly needing to have her put down. I recently turned carnivore a few months ago and came across this video. We had feed her dry dog food but she wouldn't eat it until it sat in her bowl a good month or more then she would eat the entire bowl. We would buy canned dog food, many different kinds. She would eat some, but not many. She preferred only treats all day. We had a cat and fed it canned cat food. The cat would eat very little so we didn't even take it out of the can. The dog would always steal the cat's canned food and eat it all. It was meaty with gravy. So after a while, I quit buying dog food just the canned cat food and fed both with the same cans. I thought the cat food was healthy. Well we finally gave away the cat but kept buying the cat food for the dog. After seeing this video, I decided why not put my dog on the same diet? So I did. No more cat food. I started making her bacon and eggs. We would share a steak. I would feed her some ribeye. We started walking around the block. She loved walking. We were walking every day. I would make the walks longer and more frequent. On off days, 3 walks. Her weight has gone down just a little but she's half her size. She looks very trim now. No more hip pain. She jumps around like a pup again. She's very happy and can jump again. The transformation is incredible. I've lost about 22lbs. I've gotten back into the gym pumping iron at 60yrs of age. I didn't think that was ever going to happen again. She used to shed a lot. The shedding is much less now. She always had eye goop in both eyes every day. Both eyes have been clear for a long time now. She's not begging for food all the time anymore. Now she's content and sleeps more. They are definitely carnivore. Made me realize that a previous dog I had, I used to feed him table scraps. He would never eat dog food. He would only eat the meat and never anything else. He lived just over 20 years and never had any health issues until he finally passed of old age. I never really realized it until now that he was a carnivore too. I would put down any leftover food. Veggies, bread too. He would only eat the meat. Family members would give me a hard time saying I was neglecting him and not feeding him right. Their dogs ate dry dog food and suffered all sorts of health issues and died at an early age.
Oh o
Thats amazing! Ive always heard not to feed your dog bacon, pork? And raw meat for some dogs, i cant believe we are just finding out about this. Well, yes i can. 😩
I APPRECIATED UR STORY - BUT U KINDA LOST ME @. " I GV MY CAT AWAY "...
*I CUD NEVER "GIVE AWAY" ANY OF MY LIL FAMILY MEMBERS
My little rescue dog was always itchy. Always having a yeast overgrowth. Switched to a grain free food and saw great improvement, but never really cleared up all the itching. Come to find out the treats I was giving her was straight up wheat. I now give her pork skins for treats and no more itching.
I did a percentage of thighs and ground the raw meat and bones, and a percentage of organ meats, with olive oil and squash puree, and my cat was so healthy. At her next checkup (she was 2), the vet was amazed at her muscle tone and beautiful fur. It really makes sense. Processed food is bad for all living things. Really good to hear a vet that knows nutrition. from Canada
I use pig skins for treats too.
My wife and kids and I got a rottweiler puppy last summer. I started feeding him raw meat and eggs right when we got him at 8 weeks. He has been very healthy and happy ever since. The only time he had trouble with digestion was when he stayed at a Petsmart hotel for a weekend and they fed him trash treats.
Our dog's name is Otto and I'm glad I found carnivore because of him 😊
Love that your dog led you to carnivore!
our rotties have eaten nothing but raw and are incredibly healthy.
I fed 8 cats a homemade raw food diet for 10 years, from age 3 months; and of the 4 cats I kept instead of eventually finding homes, they all lived to age 19 or 20!
And not one of those cats, or the others I fed for those first 10 years, ever needed to see a vet for anything - not a virus, worms, fleas, ear mites, an abscess, etc - until they were close to the end of their lives, even tho' for the first 10 yrs, they were indoor-outdoor cats living near many feral cats.
Yet the vet I took each of my last 4 to, at that point they were showing signs of really slowing down, chewed me out big time for feeding them a raw homemade diet until she saw their lab work, after which she didn't say another word against it.
I also helped a friend cure her 4 cats of vet-diagnosed feline urologic syndrome (FUS) with my formula, after which her vet said in all her years, she had never seen a cat be cured or even survive that condition!
However, it is VERY IMPORTANT you make sure to balance the phosphorus in the meat (and yeast and/or lecithin) with calcium, as the doctor said. I couldn't convince my friend of the importance of this, and one of her kitties tragically came home one day with a broken back!
I worked out my formula for calcium by studying all the recipes in "Dr. Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs & Cats." It worked out to be 1 rounded tsp of ground roasted egg shell or 1 rounded Tbsp of powdered bone meal for every 2 cups (~1 lb) ground meat. For my cats that was mostly ground turkey bcz it was cheaper & they didn't like beef.
To those same 2 cups, I also usually added 1/2 cup chopped up chicken gizzards & hearts; 1 raw egg (opt); 2Tbsp oat bran for the missing fiber from bones, boiled in water for 1 min; 1-2 Tbsp finely ground flax seeds; 1 Tbsp lightly ground pumpkin seeds (to deter worms); 1 Tbsp ground kelp; 1 Tbsp ground & dried alfalfa (opt); 1/4 tsp cod liver oil per cat per day; 1 popped capsule of Vitamin E per cat per week; and sometimes 2-3 Tbsp vegetable puree (baby food) & Vit C.
I'd boil the oat bran in 1/2 cup water for 1 min, then let cool a bit; then stir in the calcium & other powders & oils, veg puree, etc. And only then I would add in the meat, mixing thoroughly, & finally add in the chopped organs. (But now one could substitute popped capsules of powdered organs.)
I also gave them 1 Tbsp each of raw chicken liver 2 to 3 times a week. And I fed them approx 1/4 to 1/2 cup of the mixture once a day. Sometimes I also mixed in a can of some fish-flavored cat food for the flavor & added nutrients.
Also, I want to add that I have had cats all my life, yet these were the only ones with shiny coats, clear eyes & who I wasn't running to a vet for constantly! So I am a huge believer in raw food for cats (and dogs)!
My favorite & simplest recipe, however, esp for dogs, comes from "Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats: the Ultimate Diet" and is as follows: for each 10 lbs of body weight, daily feed 1/4-1/2 cup muscle meat (plus some organ meat or egg); 1-2 raw chicken necks (I couldn't obtain); 1/2 - 1 T pulped veggies; 1/2 - 1tsp kelp & alfalfa; 1/4 tsp cod liver oil; 1/2 tsp EFAs; and up to 500-1500 mg powdered Vit C (opt, I think, since they can make their own).
Hope this is helpful to somebody.
Can I be your dog? Maybe cook it for me? I can’t afford that much of the rich man’s meat these days. Thanks democraps.
Hopefully won't get brain swelling .
That investigation about some grain free food causing cardiomyopathy is foods labeled "grain free " which actually contained large amounts of legumes/peas, potatoes etc. Not because of the lack of grains but what it was replaced with. *cough*purina*cough*
I don't know how I missed this episode but I'm glad I finally found it. If I'm eating carnivore then it would make sense that my dogs should as well. Thank you so much for covering this Dr. Berry because my dogs are everything to me. I would make sure they ate before me if there were a food shortage
I'm a carnivore. My cat is a carnivore. We both eat steak, sugar-free bacon, sardines, herring, eggs, etc. We eat basically the same thing, except I make sure he gets a bit less fat than the way I eat. He's growing up big and strong, healthy, happy, and smart.

Amen and Amen, By feeding spices appropriate diet,no need for cancer causing flea and tick meds. Big Pharma and Big AG do not like that.
Probably why 1 in 2 dogs that are 10 and older get cancer
No doubt No doubt. They say you are what you eat and kibble is unhealthy so dogs and cates on kibble are not one hundred percent healthy
AND way more vaccinations than they need. Often one or two vax's will give them immunity. Always titer test before ever giving vaccinations...
After my little pomeranian went blind she began wasting away. I started feeding her mostly meat with a little bit of fresh potato w/skin (microwaved) and carrots. Always adding watwe to make it soupy. She turned around so fast I was amazed. Ive slowly been TRYING to switch all of my aninmals to a mostly meat diet. Since ive gone ketovore and slowly these last 4 years weaned my husband off of most crap...the money saved has allowed me to buy sale meat for my 7 cats and three dogs. One saving grace is i have eggs fresh daily. All summer ive stored eggs...dor the winter slow months...mainly for my animals believe it or not. Plus!! The astronomical price i was paying for expensive gluten free kibble now goes to meat for my babies. It takes time daily to prepare..but the change is worth it. Lawsuits need to happen
That’s great. The only thing I would say is to ditch the potato. It’s just carbs which gets turned into sugar….. especially no good for pets with diabetics.
I recently acquired my granddaughter’s dog, I have not bought her any dog food-started her Carnivore right away-I feed her exactly what I eat… I’ve had her about 1 month now and can already see she is building muscle and her coat looks amazing !!! 🥩🥩🥩🥰🥰🥰She is thriving on the Proper Dog Diet !!! 🥳🥳🥳
That’s fantastic! Just make sure you include 10% bone and 10% secretion organs. If you don’t have access to fresh organs you can add powered beef organ powder, just make sure it is from pasture raised animals. Bone can be from chicken wing, beef ribs fed raw…cooked bones should never be fed because they splinter and can be dangerous.
Thank you so much !!! I will definitely follow your advice !!! 😁😁😁I have had my granddaughters dog now for a couple of months and she is really looking amazing on her new Carnivore diet !!! Have not bought any dog food…🥩🥩🥩💪💪💪
My basset hound Henry has been raw carnivore for 7 years, against the vets advice.
Don't forget to brush your dog's teeth...my friend fed her dog raw food for 10 years and most of his teeth fell out ...and had to go under anesthesia to get the rest of his teeth and roots extracted...very expensive...
She said she didn't know plus she rarely gave him chewy treats to help with tartar ...sad but true..
@@nandiamond9099 was the diet raw animal products or also raw plant material?
Dear Nan then your friend was doing something wrong, raw food correctly fed is actually great for teeth health and little or no brushing is needed! They need appropriate and right amounth of bones in their diet + larger one to chew. Do your research before you spread there Hoax PLEASE!!!

@@andreahl1825 I was relating someone's experience with raw food ..not a hoax miss know it all!!
Kansas here. Never had hardly any $ for a vet bill but I grew up on a small family farm. When I had a cat that started having tremors I pulled all my cats off dry food and put them on a wet whole foods diet (grain free). Tremors stopped within 3 days, fat ones got leaner, skinny ones gained muscle, fur looked great, no noticeable ear problems or urinary problems. The cats eat less now than they did on kibble. Other than a few hairballs the puking stopped also. They eat raw ground turkey, eggs, canned cheap tuna, and sometimes raw chicken or turkey giblets.
I'm from the UK and have fed my dogs a raw diet since they were 8 weeks old. They have never been ill and even my 11 year old is incredibly healthy and often mistaken for a puppy. My only vet bills have been for mishaps, a couple of sebaceous cyst removals and two minor dentals. I never give my dogs annual vaccinations either and didn't have them neutered until they were 3 and 5 yrs old!
My wife took one of our cats to the vet to get treated for inflamed gums...I told her just yesterday she should look into low carb cat food because cats and humans basically are both carnivorous, and if they just ate meat their gums would improve just like ours did when we went keto and carnivore...
I had a casual conversation with Vet about grain free diet for dog. Vet gave the pet food answer of seeing rise of Cardiomyopathy in dogs due to rise in grain free diet. Vet said in wild, when wolves hunt and feed on ruminant animals, they go directly for the grain in the digestive track. I thought later, no, they were going for all the rich methionine and other amino acids being converted in the ruminant.
You on the right track, Gerald. Wild ruminants certainly don't have an intestinal tract full of grain. Even grass-fed modern cattle do not have more than a rare grass seed in their gut...they are going first for the young, tender grasses.
There was an issue with grain free food but a vet on Facebook said it was attributed to pea protein in the recipe
You can always tell when they are lying. . . their lips are moving 😉 It's all about the $$$ By watching this video you are getting better information.
My vet said the same about the grain free diet and cardiomyopathy
Grain free is pretty non specific
I’m from the midlands in SC. On May 23 this year changed the diet for my Aussie from kibble to raw beef, chicken, organs and bone. I’ve noticed an immediately change.
He is 7 and has arthritis. I personally started Carnivore 2 weeks ago so it made sense to do this for my dog
Thank you!! for finally doing a show on our pets! Love you, Dr. B!
So glad you addressed this. A light bulb went on in my brain when I switched to keto, then looked at what I was feeding my cats. It explained a lot of those “idiopathic” diseases that took my little friends when they were way too young.
Similar experience! I would never eat the ingredients in the cat food my vet recommends (grains, soybean oil and minimal protein)-especially given how my own health improved dramatically once I went keto. This week I started transitioning my cat from Hills to freeze dried raw cat food. His allergies have dissipated. He’s still playful but also more content, happier.
My beautiful dog Sandi-Wolfe is a member of our family. I am so glad that you did this episode.
I have a handicapped kitty. She was a feral cat hit by car. Shes been with only 1 kidney and on raw meat organs for 15 years! Very healthy.
This was an excellent interview. Thanks again Dr. Berry for your professional insight.
Thank you so much Dr Berry and Dr Einerstson!! Much needed discussion on how our pets deserve a Proper Pet Diet
I feed my two dogs a home cooked diet consisting of 80% low fat mince, Organ meats - heart, kidneys liver and vegetables (pressure Cooked). They also eat plenty of eggs, sardines, cottage cheese and yoghurt - also raw meaty bones and homemade trats such as dehydrated chicken wings and home made jerky sticks. They are six and seven years old and still have the same energy and zest for life as puppies. People always stare when they walk past and comment on what beautiful dogs they are. But when I tell people what I feed them the "All" laugh and think I'm mad! Yes they think I'm mad for feeding my dogs actual food! I have however converted a few people who have had sick dogs, all of which became healthy after switching away from commercial dog food.
On the subject of grass, I’ve read there are digestive enzymes in WILD grass that dogs and wolves instinctively know to eat for their microbiome. Makes the most sense since we notice they eat it most often when they’re having digestive issues
Cats do the same thing. An outdoor cat will have special patches that it goes to regularly. When my brother died, I took his indoor cat. I used to pick grass for him, and he loved it! They really need their 'greens'.
I thought they ate grass to make them throw up?
@@bobbarker5884 I had heard that rumor too but nothing I’ve read suggests that
I've been waiting for this. Thank you!! Learning about how to take better care of my pets makes me curious and motivated to ask those questions about my own health as well!
I appreciate this conversation, Dr. Berry. It will definitely make a difference in what I feed, my next dog. Providing I can find another tiny dog to adopt.
The one thing that has been infuriating is the amount of cat foods that are adding seed oils. Even some of the brands we've trusted. My wife is a veterinary nurse & animal nutritionist. So, this has been a frustrating challenge. Our dog eats a frozen raw diet of Lamb and Rabbit. But the cats are a little different as they won't eat straight raw that doesn't smell strong. So, I've been looking forward to a video like this. Always open to see what's working.
Canola oil is in almost all of them! Makes me so mad!
Cats will definitely eat raw...my cat is raw fed and I moderate a group on Facebook that has thousands of raw fed cats. Not an issue.
My cat won't eat raw or cooked meat at all. I've tried many times. I give her grain free canned food.
@@ArtfullyGifted you have to properly transition. You cant expect them to just suddenly eat it, most of the kibble fed cats don't even know that there is other food out there. It takes time and patience but every single cat can be transitioned no matter the age.
@@modernenergy682 I did that for many weeks. She refuses to eat meat. She only likes fish.
Dear Dr Berry, as always thank you for your life saving videos. My four dogs certainly thank you. As I am a first-time 6-year dog owner, I am forever in your debt. Of course we are praying for you and Nisha and telling everyone we can about this way of life. However you are much better at conveying it than I am. So I always tell them see Dr Barry he will never steer you wrong. Thank you for this dog video and I pray there will be many many more about the health of dogs.
Such a great video! So informative with two very intelligent people giving facts!
Have more people on to speak about pet diets. This is very helpful. Getting other vets to speak out would be helpful. Ann
I took my 10 year old chihuahua off kibble, which she never liked any way, and switched her to a vet approved keto diet. I make it myself once a week and she loves it.
Would u care to share your recipe?❤
Frank and Gracie.
They eat dead mice and such!
Will u share the recipe plz??
Good info.
This was awesome! Can you do more of these vet interviews?
Thanks so much for doing this video - been waiting for months to watch this!
I shared this on Linkedin. Thank you, Dr. Berry!
I changed my 17 year diabetic cat diet to a low carb, high protein moderate fat diet. He live another five years after that time. He stayed very healthy until the last couple of months of his life. He passed peacefully at home with us. The food I fed him was Fancy feast pate only. It's was the lowest carb cat food I knew of
You were feeding your cat garbage. Any commercial pet food is garbage. You need to feed a species appropriate raw food diet. Do the research. Educate yourself. WAKE UP. Do it better next time. Then go onto to educate others. Watch videos by Dr. Karen Becker DVM. Read the book Foods Pets Die For.
I have laughed so hard, and learned soo much! What a great discussion. Thanks Dr.Travis E. And Dr. Berry😊😅😂
Great episode! I love that the vet admits he doesn't know some things instead of pretending to know it all 💯
Best video for health of my babies that I’ve ever seen. Thank you !
Thank you SO MUCH for this episode from Michigan!!!
I had two cats, Bruce and Bob. I always left a small bowl of dry food out in case they wanted a snack. Twice a day, I fed them a half-can of canned food. Neither cat ever became overweight. One cat lived to 19-1/2, the other lived to 21. BTW Both cats were rescue kitties. One was a Maine Coon, the other was an American Shorthair. The cat we had when I was a child lived to 23. So I think we were very good at caring for cats.
Cats are all different though. We had cats who behaved that way and cats who would scarf n barf or just scarf.
God bless you Butch, thank you for your wonderful care and for sharing this
Apparently no ki but justccheap can cat good.bble
Many people that leave dry food out end up with diabetic cats, constipated cats, urinary problems, obese cats I had two out of 11 I’ve had over the years, end up like this. I now only feed a measured amount but do feel raw is best! My current cats are a good weight but just had one diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, enlarged heart, and heart murmur. Getting ready to change to a all meat/fish diet.
Great info and interview. From both of you, and info from people and moterators in the chat!
Thanks for doing a pet vid
Awesome to do a full family approach
Thanks for all you 😊
Soft boiled eggs are the best for our pets and us too. Never over cook them eggs. Also add the crushed egg shell too for calcium🐶😻🤗🙏
They're now thinking that the cardiomyopathy isn't from the lack of grains, but from the addition of the other carbohydrate fillers being substituted, namely the pulses (peas, legumes) and potatoes (nightshades) which has lectins. Lectins are, of course, antinutrients which block taurine!
Thank you! No one discusses anti-nutrients. Even certain vitamins can do the same thing, at least in humans. That's why multi-vitamins should be discontinued. But plants are FULL of anti-nutrients. That's why vegans are so unhealthy and weak
Great info, thank you for addressing this.
Excellent interview! Learned so much. My two cats will benefit from his knowledge. Thank you both!
What are you currently feeding them?
I'm listening from Montreal, Quebec
Just purchased a xolo puppy this is important info for me. Listening to Dr.Berry cured my arthritis! So, busy learning from this to make sure my dog is as healthy as it should be !
Watching in Southern California. Thank you for having a vet on to talk about this! I am, currently transitioning my senior dogs off of commercial dog food. My feral cats born in my barn may be next.
My German Shepherd has digestive issues which shows up in the form of allergies and goes away when the offending food is stopped , she eats grass everyday usually a small amount but occasionally she eats a lot then she promptly throws up she is on a raw food diet with a small amount of finely chopped veg or berries but no starchy veg . I think we forget that they are sensitive to stress so changes in routine can affect them as well
Thanks so much for this! I literally searched for this and don't know how I missed this in my feed.
I really appreciated this talk, I’ve been feeding my dogs 8812 grass fed ground beef from Costco with cucumbers and vitamin C supplement for a while now and just sharing the foods that I eat with them like pot roast and they’ve gotten very dense and muscular and have actually lost body fat. This confirms my food choices for them aren’t crazy.
You can safely ditch the Vit C and cucumber. All plants don't want to be eaten and thus punish those who try to consume them.... Supplements aren't necessary are usually SYNTHETIC and can even block the absorption of the Real thing found in animal products.
Just make sure they're getting calcium from bone or supplement and organ meat (beef liver the best you can feed, I also do pork spleen and kidneys). Also Canned Sardines in water is very good for them and canned pink salmon for Vitamin d.
vitamin c supplements are unnecessary.
As a cat breeder we fed all our cats a 100% 💯 raw animal meat diet. Never had an obese cat. 🎉loved this video. ❤
Cat breeder ! Jeez there are TONS of f real cats destroying species , where I’m at all our public lands are contaminated with toxoplasmosis and most endemic birds are destroyed. * where is the responsibility of these breeders

You are disgusting breeding animals which causes them problems. Find a better way to make money. How can you stoop so low. STOP THE BREEDING.
I’m 10 months too late 😂 but I have two dogs, which I plan to start feeding exclusively meat. I also have two parrots! The recommendation from parrot experts is always fresh fruits and vegetables. We also use Zupreem pellets. When I was growing up, my grandmother had a parrot. She would occasionally give him cooked chicken bones. This bird LOVED the chicken bones. He would crack them open and eat the marrow. Somehow, my grandmother knew intuitively that the bird wanted that. My grandmother would also chew the cartilage off the end of chicken wings because “it’s good for you”. She also knew that intuitively. I’m curious to learn more about parrot nutrition. Parrots, I think, are actual facultative omnivores.
Had two African Grays in the house growing up. The marrow in chicken bones is no joke. Our grays went full on crazy eyes and DEMANDED those 😂👍
@@blikewat3r my grandmother had a double yellow Amazon and she would always give him chicken bones and he LOVED it. She would also always threaten to make him into a stew lol
St George, UT Fly & Rosy-Bee. My 13 yr old AussieDoodle has been on home cooked diet for 5 yrs. She is active, happy and healthy. Addition of puppy in the house gave her even oomph. Thank you for this forum D. Berry!
I have been on the carnivore diet a month. Looking at my dog tonight, I just realised - what about the dog. Can this change his life. Thanks for this video. I have listened to dr berry before but missed this video. Thanks again. Learned so much
Excellent video!!! I have a 10 yr old Aussie Shepherd who is having inflammation issue and is a little overweight SI I've recently switched him over to Ketovore. I am 32 days carnivore and am loving it! 12lbs down and carb cravings are almost non existent. Thanks for all the great information you share! 💖💜💖
I am in TN. I have a toy poodle. I feed him beef diet and eggs. ccasionally I add broccoli and cabbage. He had digestive issues until I started making his food. He no longer struggles. He is thriving. I remind myself often, he is a carnivore. When he goes for walks, he occasionally eats greens from the yard. We do give him vitamins and probiotics every other day. He's 7 years old and still plays like a puppy.
Please include bone and organs once or twice a week
Great info! We are feeding our 2 yo rescued boxer mix, Scotty, our left over roast and steak bits, a spoon of bacon grease,1-2 hamburgers, 2 eggs/day with shells, 2 cans of either tuna, cod liver, or sardines. He's a beautiful energetic boy! Middle Tennessee Rita ❤️
My standard poodle is so picky and only loves a raw diet. But hates, I mean hates eggs!! He also gets sick pukey if I don't feed him earlier enough in the morning.
Such a good discussion and thankful for you both!
Basic principle of biology -form and function are directly related. Dogs are carnivores. They have no flat teeth so are not designed for grinding grains and grasses. They’re designed for ripping and tearing. They also have very short digestive tracts. The proper food -raw meat-is almost completely digested within 4-5 hours. And the stools do not stink because the species-appropriate food is almost completely digested. I buy locally what I can and get ground organ meats and raw tripe ( first two chambers of cow’s stomach- rumen and reticulum) and the whole ground animal such as lamb , mutton, young beef, etc. from a reliable supplier. Cows as an example ARE designed for grinding grains and grasses and thus have very long digestive tracts and flat teeth. I
cannot tell you how many “discussions” I’ve had with veterinarians about this. In my experience, vets are as bad as physicians, --pushing pills
instead of proper nutrition. The influence of the pharmaceutical industry is appalling.
I've fed our cat tuna for 10 years. He had UTI issues before that and has been fine since.
Love this- thank you so much! Love from Minnesota!
This was absolutely amazing!
My 2 dogs have had a raw diet from the moment they were weaned. Meat, offal, fish and 10% bone, they are 8 and 9 years old and I can count on one hand the amount of times they’ve been to the vet. ❤
I’ve been on a “dirty” carnivore diet. This has reversed many health issues as well as weight reduction (my reason for trying low carb, high protein) Your guest is correct, in my NP program we got very little instruction in nutrition and physicians don’t get much more. All I’ve learned is from post graduate study. Never felt better and my blood sugars have been amazing. Thankfully my aging chihuahua is healthy. Keeping this in my email files. Thank you
Same here, I don't eat grains, and eat low carbs, this is the lowest weight I have been in years in my 40s now. I use low-carb kibble for the same reason for my dog, I also don't feed kibble only.
Brilliant interview.
My last guide dog died from cancer. This guy dog is carnivore and so am I thank you for the valuable information on how to take care of my best friend and family member. His name is Sam :-) ❤
Nice! I have been thinking about this exact thing. I'm sick and tired of dealing with skin and ear issues constantly. I am now absolutely sure that it's the kibble.
I enjoyed this video!
My Maggie suffered from horrible allergies. We had her tested to see what she was allergic to ... over 20 things, both food and environmental!
I've been making her food for over 3 years now and she is thriving. Usually beef, liver, non starchy veggies, and no grains. Her vet told me to keep doing what we've been doing!
I would cook chicken for my dog he was good than maybe two years ago became allergic to chicken. I don't know why.
Your best video dr Berry! Thanks.
Thank you for this video, been wondering about this for a long time!
Amazing the correlation between human diets and the diets of the animals humans look after. The more they go from their proper diet, the more problems they have.
Thanks so much for this! Now that I've recovered from obesity thanks to keto, I worry about my obese pet. I have 4 cats. 2 are "self maintaining" and have been the same slender size for 9 years, 1 is my "Keto Cat", who refuses to touch kibble and 1 is small framed and morbidly obese. I want to ditch the kibble but canned food twice a day is expensive for all of them so I use kibble as a filler. I love what the Dr said about cheaper canned foods! That might help me make the transition!
BTW My mother always says what you do about pet names 😆 we've been trained not to give pets "human" names! You're the only other person I've ever heard that from!
Great topic, well covered.
Appreciate this video so much!! Priceless! I have a Clyde, Gunther and Boaz (dogs) and one cat named Gilligan. Love them all and appreciate this enlightening video thank you much!
we noticed our 50/50 mix Labrador/Boxer wasn't eating as much as usual and his ribs were showing a bit more. I started making home made food. Ground beef, eggs, chicken thighs and chicken livers with brown rice and mixed veggies peas green beans and carrots. there is more meat than the other ingredients. He seems much happier and more eager to eat now and ribs no longer show... We do mix this food with a cup of kibble as well he gets 2 cups of the mix and i cup kibble up to twice a day
I've become a type 2 diabetic thanks to you I've learned a great Deal about it
Now I've become a food warrior for my doggo
Oh yeah greetings from Eugene Oregon
