  • Robin's Book Club Episode 56: William Egglestone's Guide.
Perhaps the OG book of colour photography, William Egglestone's Guide is a true classic. The introductory essay by John Szarkowski is challenging and inspiring. Seeing all of the photographs in the book in one sitting certainly helps with understanding Egglestone's work.

We all need to be given an advice to take photographs of the ugly stuff in absence of anything beautiful around

9:35 No, actually IT IS dog’s tongue 👅 and that’s how dogs drink water - they bend their tongue in such way that allows to lift some of the water into their seemingly closed mouth 😊

Did he mostly use 35mm or medium format?

I understood it to be 35mm film, with a 35mm lens. (I bet it was a Leica!) Anyone have any more info? I've seen mention of 6x9 medium format cameras too....

I don't know, but a picture in an article about him in Vanity Fair show 9 old Leica cameras.
