I ordered my Sand 3 jacket and pants today when I saw the price had dropped. Thanks to your customer service team for answering all of my questions about sizing and special shipping instructions. I just hope I ordered the right size!
@@Mechanicalcircus It's not perfect, but it's great for me. I've used it in 40-95° and stayed comfortable. I had to use a sewing kit to tighten up the waist cinch straps a little because I had 2 to 3" of slack even with them as tight as they would go. The neck pushes on my helmet a little, but I've gotten used to it. If something happened to mine, I would replace it with the Sand 4 gear.
I have to make a side note when recommending this REVIT Sand 3 jacket and pants. It is true that the jacket is of good quality and that useful innovations have been applied to the pants and jacket. The outer jacket is not waterproof, the mutual "waterproof" membrane, also a jacket, appears to be breathable and waterproof, the underlying thermal lining jacket functions as a kind of body warmer (applicable 40.000 km / 25.000 mls), after extensive testing, I have had to conclude that the jacket is not waterproof. In practice, the 3 coats are very impractical to use. Especially in the summer at temperatures from say 20 degrees and in rainy conditions (without the thermal lining) jacket, the outer jacket sucks up with water and then acts as the "reverse refrigerator" principle due to the driving wind. During long autobahn rides you therefore get stone cold, which is why you want to place the thermo jacket to get the weather slightly warm. When the rain disappears, the outer jacket dries up again and you really want to remove the thermo jacket again because then you will break out in a damp sweat. In addition, driving with only the "waterproof" membrane at temperatures above 25 degrees is particularly unpleasant. The membrane appears to be breathable, unfortunately I was unable to detect this due to moisture retention. In short, during the day on long journeys you are constantly changing the 3 jackets in changing weather conditions, which nevertheless happens regularly. My advice is therefore to purchase a Goretex jacket, more expensive but much more practical to use.
I have had this jacket for four years and can fully endorse this comment. I do like the jacket and have resolved the problem by waterproofing the outer layer with Nikwax spray after washing a couple of times a year. This works very well and stops the weight and windchill issues. I'm now looking at a laminate.
I am so stoked for this jacket. I have been struggling to decide what ADV jacket to get and when i saw that RevIt had a new Sand jacket and pant coming out i knew those were going to be awesome. I have a question about the material on the shell. On your website it says its a mixture of 500D and 600D. In the review of the pants you said that they used this lower strength material but they doubled it up in places. I watched the review of the jacket twice but i didn't notice you commenting about the shell material at all. Not that 500D or 600D by itself is necessarily bad...but I was curious if the jacket also has the double layer features in places like the pants?
Unless I were going Gortex, I'd just get the Outback 3 for $100 less. Same liner, great vents on both. On a seperate note, I hate it when the next iteration takes features AWAY...
Best review as always!!!What i dont understand with all these jackets is this. Why is the waterproof liner on the inside? When it rains the jacket will get wet. Then you will need to dry it.Wouldn't it be better to attach on the outside?

Dear RevZilla, Between Sand 3 and Sand Urban, which one would you recommend? Also, If money isn't an issue, what would be the absolute best choice to make for a Motorcycle Jacket for daily commute.
Unless you really like the style of the Sand Urban, the Sand 3 is the better jacket (better armor and stronger textile). For motorcycle commuting, the Sand 3 is a really great option. -DrewZilla
Hey guys, thanks for answering. Really respect your opinion. And because of you, i am so happy that i purchased the Daytona Arrow Sport GTX boots. So, please let me know the best jacket i can have in 2018 for my commuting needs. Any alternative option, other than the Sand 3.
The Sand 3 is a step up in durability/protection and in weather versatility. The Safari 3 uses 600D poly throughout (which is good), has a fixed waterproof liner, and a removable thermal liner. So it's great for mild and colder weather. The Sand 3 offers more durable ripstop material throughout and even more durable textile in the high-impact areas (shoulders/elbows). Like the Safari 3, there is a removable thermal liner. Unlike the Safari 3, though, the waterproof liner is removable, and there are more vents on the jacket for increased airflow (bigger chest vents, nice long arm vents, big back vents). So the Sand 3 does well in both cold and hot weather. -DrewZilla *bit.ly/Sand3
Great review as always! Tried it today at my local dealer and fitted like a glove! But still hesitating between the Sand 3 and the Neptune 2..... both were comfortable, just wondering which one would be best for me? I travel and commute around 25.000 km's a year (about 16.000 miles). Any suggestions? Best value for money?
For all those miles, I'd likely go with the Neptune, as the Gore-Tex liner is more breathable and the main fabric is slightly more durable along with a Teflon coating. It's also not that much more than the Sand 3. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-neptune-2-gtx-jacket
They're water-resistant. Keep in mind that while the outer jacket has a water-repellant coating, it isn't waterproof. You'd probably be fine in a very light, brief drizzle, but for any significant rain, you'll want to be wearing the removable inner waterproof liner. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-sand-3-jacket
Im in the market for a new textile suit. I Live in the UK and have a 2 piece leather wolf nimbus suit and a RST paragon 2 piece that has seen better days, so its getting replaced. Im a 6'4 bean pole and looking for a nice snug fit that will suit my height and do all year round as I ride a Tracer 900 all year and a ZX10r in the summer. Kind of on a budget of around 500 GBP for jacket and trousers but I could stretch it a bit. What would you recommend and what pants would you partner with the Sand 3 jacket ?

The Valparaiso 2 has a slightly slimmer fit, but that isn't to say that the Sand 3 is boxy. Both have good venting, but the venting locations are varied. On the Sand 3, you have full-sleeve zipper vents on the arms along with two pairs of vertical vents on the chest and back. The Valparaiso 2 has shorter forearm zipper vents but increased torso venting in the shape of mesh panels on the upper chest and a huge back panel that unzips and folds down to reveal a large mesh vent. So, if you want more ventilation on the arms, go with the Sand 3. If you want more torso venting, go with the Valparaiso 2. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-valparaiso-2-drystar-jacket *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-sand-3-jacket
The Dainese D-Explorer offers better abrasion resistance, especially at the shoulders and elbows, more ventilation due to the zip-down panels, and a more breathable Gore-Tex waterproof liner compared to the Sand 3's Hydratex waterproof liner. The D-Explorer is almost twice the price though, so the Sand 3 is probably the better value. -DrewZilla
The Sand 3's 3L Hydratex liner is waterproof to 5,000mm (if you have a 1x1 inch area tube over the membrane, you can fill the tube 5 meters tall before the water will go through the membrane). The breathability is 7,000 grams (of water vapor) per square meter per 24 hours. If you step up to the Neptune, the Gore-Tex Paclite liner is waterproof to 28,000mm and breathable at 15,000g/m2/24 hours. So the Hydratex isn't bad, but the Gore-Tex is better. Jackets with Gore Pro (more expensive) are 28,000mm waterproof and breathable at 25,000g/m2/24 hours.-DrewZilla
The Horizon 2 will be better in heavy rain, as the laminated waterproof liner does indeed function better than the Sand 3's removable waterproof liner. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-horizon-2-jacket

It really depends on your budget and whether you'll be wearing the jacket more with the waterproof liner or without it. If you ride a lot in the rain, the Neptune is the better jacket. If you only encounter occasional rain, the Sand 3 will offer better airflow with the waterproof liner removed.
