This was a game for the PSP i mean they made all the Animations just for this Game and you can play it with a Handheld Console... this is incredible...
Day of Sigma is based. Maverick Hunter X is based. This game really needs to get ported to modern consoles. Bring it to the Switch or at least properly bring it to the Ps4 or something.
He does. I really liked how convincing he was as the noble and honorable leader of the Maverick Hunters, and not written or acted in a way that made it obvious he was an imminent villain, like you see in too many anime and games.
Every time I watch this, I think of how amazing a full-fledged X anime series, with this kind of effort and production value put into it, could have been. Why didn't we get it? It wasn't for lack of interest or popularity or anything else. Battle Network? Star Force? Capcom didn't hesitate to pump out anime adaptations for them. But the best chapter in the entire over-arching Megaman saga? Nothing. Just this OVA. It's a travesty, I tell you. 😩
Yes, there was a pre and post comic for megaman x. Megaman fight with bio weapon walker(military mechanized) and right after zero rebooted when sigma left them.
Because Maverick hunter X and Megaman powered Up, were NOT a success and this is mostly because the PSP was a system you could hack so most of the people played a pirate version. I was the one that played the pirate version and bought the original just to have it as collection. The game is fantastic, both of them but after this failure, CAPCOM just hates Megaman.
The series is positively dead. The PSP remakes are not the only games that failed to sell well, the debacle connected to Legends 3 poisoned the well and it's been stated that no creative lead over there is really bold enough to take the lead because having to uphold the legacy of the IP is a pretty big deal. The only "new" material they still have ready is the Legends 3 Demo-game, but that return ticket became invalid when the 3DS was discontinued. From the current situration, a bigger comeback that doesn't rely on mobile games would be supremely difficult.
@@cathyas3749 I mean, that is exactly the thing. A singular hit-release does not automatically flip the table when the status of the series is so completely and utterly screwed. It continues to live off of rereleases and XDive.

@@debbiebernhardt5406 but still the only official response regarding the continuation of the mega man x games, let alone an anime is "We are considering how to approach the production of new entries in the series, which requires numerous factors, including the development of a solid concept, ideas and gameplay, etc,"
I like that this was included in Mega Man X Legacy Collection, and the part where X had the flashback of Dr. Light was super sad, and I actually had tears rolling down my face because of how sad it was
This MM Maverick Hunter X game was just excellent especially the voice acting for both the game and this short anime movie for it! I just wish they had done the same for the other classic MMX games too not just the first one. Also Zero was always like a big bro figure to X.
How Sigma turns evil: He punches Zero’s head piece with the virus in it How Sigma got the face scars: X attacked his face with limitless evolutionary potential
This needs to come back. I watch it every few years to remind myself of the good ol days. And Dr Lights speech to X makes me tear up every time. He’s so innocent just like a little kid and just wants to do the right thing. what a great series.
Because it was all his plan Villify himself Snap X to a true warrior Put Zero to work with X instead of destroying him after his fight against him in the chamber of zero. Make the world a chaos Just to make X evolve.
Sigma's got the same general theme that Dr.Wily has in his later games (Superiority of Robots). It's unknown how widespread the knowledge is that X is the grandfather of the reploid race in the games, but in the OVA here Sigma knows that Dr.Cain sees him as highly valuable and promising. I'd hazard a guess that he lets him live in case X can further the "betterment" of the race.
@@LuminousLead There is also the X factor his greatest ability in fact in his name meaning his limitless evolutionary potential some anime stuff meaning friendship and happiness, puppies (Boomstick’s words not mine) which makes him more powerful. Not to mention to pay to attention to dialogue when ever X defeats a Maverick in they say, “Man you’re strong!” Not to mention he gains new armors most powerful armor being the ultimate X armor. He did gain the Z-Saber from Zero in X5 and used in X6 so it was easy to transverse so it’s to think about all of the other armors from the first few games to the chips and now the ultimate X armor but still also gaining armors.
@@LuminousLead Also I read Sigma’s wiki so he did remain sane after the fight with maverick zero where he got his first scars on his face. Like in this OVA he still continued to lead the maverick hunters but also felt humanity was holding back reploids from achieving their true potential. Which is what this OVA is all about. He really wanted to bring out the X factor in X. Because one day he did spot X who was the father of all reploids (because after Dr. Cain found X he mass produced reploids). and X dedication to justice, and began wondering about how he himself could change the world. It’s also good that you played the games and watched it because As sigma is continually destroyed and resurrected his sanity degrades. You can notice it in X1-X8 how he was charismatic to psychopath to senile to obsessed with his vision of the future. It also shows why X doesn’t hesitate against sigma because he’s pure evil. Sorry this was long by the way this is information from the wiki.
I still enjoy it. Don't let some mindless social media followers ruin it for you. Mega Man X came out in 1993, long before they started using it in their stupid phrasing.
Hey, remember back in Mega Man X4 when X sounded like a 9 year old girl? In the english voice dub that is. In this movie, this is the english voice I expected for X to sound like.
deadass, I'd be down for some Mega Man X animated movies. 2D or 3D doesn't matter to me but what does matter is the story needs to be as good as this, the music must be from the games, and the voices oughta be the Toronto folks Capcom used in every series but this one from 1998 to 2002, as well as the Power Stone anime. I know it won't be them but I can dream...Lyon Smith could be the second best X, Rob Tinkler or Scott McCord could kill it as Zero, Tony Daniels could be a good Vile, and Martin Roach or Lawrence Bayne could be a menacing Sigma.
You know, looking back, I wonder if part of Sigma's decision to draw out X's potential stemmed from Dr. Cain's desire to see it before the end of his life. That look on his face as Cain lamented his inability to extend his life any further says it all.
@@electronbmx5918 in MMX4, there was a flashback to when Zero was a ruthless maverick, where he contained the maverick virus that would infect Sigma into what he ended up becoming. From my knowledge, there’s actually setups to the virus in either Megaman 9 or 10. (Take all this with a grain of salt, I haven’t particularly played MMX3 yet, just going off of videos).
@Comrade Midnight Yeah, you bring up a good point there. My only idea is that maybe he just… Repaired himself? I mean, he was beaten pretty badly in MMX3, so he maybe would’ve just repair himself. Characters have repaired themselves before too, so X could’ve just ripped another one and Sigma, being a maverick, just said “oh well”.
Don't forget that X shared a voice actor with the main character of *_Mobile Fighter G Gundam_* here. And let's not forget 22:20, where X _literally performs the Shining Finger._
The effort put into making this, and Tatsunoko's Casshan: Robot Hunter (a sequel to this) was such a great work, but alas it came to an end just as quickly.
I find it rather funny that X's voice actor is the same as Domon from G Gundam. I wonder if they gave him the job just because of X's Shining Finger move near the end...
22:19, okay, I never see anyone talking about this and I just wanted to get this out of my chest. I love the music when X activates his limitless potential. It sounds so... Heroic, yet dramatic and tragic at the same time. Which is quite fitting since this is literally X's last stand before he deactivates. I would really love to hear it in its original form without the voice acting.
THERES COMMENTS NOW LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO anyways I love this ova even if it’s not perfect-much like MHX-it just help me through quarantine and kindle my love for MMX as well as the rest of the mm series bc GOD if I never discovered this I would have not cared for anything past Classic. *which is sad because this ova is non canon considering it was meant for a reboot timeline that never got continued and Cain fucking dies but he’s canonically alive in X2* either way, glad comments are back.
Sorry, but all I can think of is that X is Domon Kasshu, Vile is Chibodee Crockett, and Sigma is Marcelot Chariot! G GUNDAM AND MEGA MAN X!! My childhood smiles!
With this level of quality for just an OVA, I dont get why they didnt make an anime series for each game or something. Since the games can only portray characters and events so much I'm sure they could do a lot more like fleshing out the personalities for all the other mavericks and whatnot. Also all the voices fit these characters just right. It probably wouldve happened too if Maverick Hunter X got better sales when it first came out.
Man, I cannot stop watching this pilot video, it's Great😊! Also, has anyone noticed that Zero's body looks different? His chest, shoulders, and legs look different. Can't believe this is the video that shows how everything came into place, Sigma betrayed everyone, and how he demolished nearly half of Able City, and how the Maverick wars started. Also, has anyone noticed that Zero's body looks different? His chest, shoulders, and legs look different. Wait I forgot😅! When Zero blew himself apart to help take down Vile, His memories and data were transferred back to base, and his body was rebuilt and modified with new armor. He still looks pretty cool. In case no one knew much about Zero's past, he wasn't actually built by Doctor Cane, he was really built by Doctor Wily, Why? Because after Blues returned and joined his brother Mega man, his sister Roll and Doctor Light, Doctor Wily built a new Robot called Base and replaced Blues as his enforcer, but he was becoming too powerful to control and Wily feared he could destroy the world, so he built Zero as a precaution for that day if it were to come. In other words, both X AND Zero were the very first Reploids ever built, one was built by Thomas Light, the other was built by Albert Wily, it's ironic that those two came together in common goal, to protect and save the Earth itself, even with their creators being sworn enemies. Like I said, ironic.😏

That scene with X and Dr. Light gets me everytime
And then X's feral rage directly after is *incredibly* cathartic. The way he completely snaps is terrifying.
This short film is exactly what I showed my best friend in Belgium, and got her into the series and the characters.

Sigma looks like a really cool good guy
Sucks for him, he's evil 😒
Now you see that evil will always triumph. Because, good is dumb.
He does. I really liked how convincing he was as the noble and honorable leader of the Maverick Hunters, and not written or acted in a way that made it obvious he was an imminent villain, like you see in too many anime and games.
His story is kinda tragic.... he was a hero, but got infected with the maverick virus, at least in previous canon.

They should make a full Megaman X series.
Best chapter after Legends
How was the MM StarForce anime?

@@bezoticallyyours83 Burn!
Why doesn't Capcom show this kind of love and lore development to Mega Man anymore?
Because Maverick hunter X and Megaman powered Up, were NOT a success and this is mostly because the PSP was a system you could hack so most of the people played a pirate version. I was the one that played the pirate version and bought the original just to have it as collection. The game is fantastic, both of them but after this failure, CAPCOM just hates Megaman.
@@Yokai_Yuri Would love to see them make a good "Maverick Hunter: Sigma" game with a decent backstory on Sigma turning maverick as you progress!
@@lpfan4491 11 has become the best selling game in the series so far. But no news has come from that yet

A series like this could give neat and deep characterization into the enemies we fight. I always felt that Storm Eagle was too honorable
Crazy how this all adds up to the events of Mega Man X, the missiles launch into the city explains why the in the Intro Stage, the city was destroyed.
Yes
Yeah I loved how this is basically the RE Zero of the MMX franchise
I like that this was included in Mega Man X Legacy Collection, and the part where X had the flashback of Dr. Light was super sad, and I actually had tears rolling down my face because of how sad it was
This MM Maverick Hunter X game was just excellent especially the voice acting for both the game and this short anime movie for it! I just wish they had done the same for the other classic MMX games too not just the first one. Also Zero was always like a big bro figure to X.
21:42 "Dr. I'll use this power to fight for justice, to fight for hope!!"

and so, the Maverick Wars begin...
Normies: The Day of Sigma
Me, an intellectual: The Day of E
Umh, ok.
Me, another intellectual: The day of Sum.
I dont think Epsiilon is in his movie, bro.
Shows sigma with markipliers face
How Sigma turns evil: He punches Zero’s head piece with the virus in it
How Sigma got the face scars: X attacked his face with limitless evolutionary potential
So when Zero said and stated that not many reploids have that attack capability. He implied that not many reploids have sabers.
This needs to come back. I watch it every few years to remind myself of the good ol days. And Dr Lights speech to X makes me tear up every time. He’s so innocent just like a little kid and just wants to do the right thing. what a great series.
God I so badly wanted him to avenge his friends and defeat sigma right there, it got so intense and then it does you the bookmark move
So why didn't Sigma just destroy X when he had the chance? Typical bad guy mannerisms.
Because it was all his plan
Villify himself
Snap X to a true warrior
Put Zero to work with X instead of destroying him after his fight against him in the chamber of zero.
Make the world a chaos
Just to make X evolve.
@@TheEmpiresStrongest Yes, I too played the games and watched the animated episode.
Sorry this was long by the way this is information from the wiki.

deadass, I'd be down for some Mega Man X animated movies.
@@dcb99filmz Me too. I have been fantasizing about that for the LONGEST time now.

Lol are you talking about Roboenza from 10
@Comrade Midnight Yeah, you bring up a good point there. My only idea is that maybe he just… Repaired himself? I mean, he was beaten pretty badly in MMX3, so he maybe would’ve just repair himself. Characters have repaired themselves before too, so X could’ve just ripped another one and Sigma, being a maverick, just said “oh well”.

The girl operator robot is so pretty.
She looks an awful lot like Nana from Command mission
She was like operating airdrop.
The effort put into making this, and Tatsunoko's Casshan: Robot Hunter (a sequel to this) was such a great work, but alas it came to an end just as quickly.

I love the music when X activates his limitless potential. It sounds so... Heroic, yet dramatic and tragic at the same time. Which is quite fitting since this is literally X's last stand before he deactivates. I would really love to hear it in its original form without the voice acting.
He was in emergency mode. He had rerouted power to his arm to shield it for damage directly to his head where his data is stored.

itchy0618 Yeah you're right. Unfortunately, Mark Gatha(Domon Kasshu and X) has retired and became a surgeon though. Best voice for X by far though
22:30 Domon Kasshu: *”SHINING FINGER!”*
Not enough money dedicated to both anime and project
