- The evil Mavericks, Vile and Spark Mandrill have arrived from the future and the two of them quickly prove far too powerful even for Mega Man. He is saved by Mega Man X who's in hot pursuit of the two Mavericks. Mega Man doesn't know what to make of everything but helps X anyway. They work together to stop both Dr. Wily and the Mavericks.
X in the games: Violence isn’t the answer. Why must we continue to fight?
X in the show: KILL. KILL. KILL.

X in the game is pretty much, "I'm a pacifist, I hate Violence, and I ask everyday to myself... why we must fight.... but I also kill thousand of reploids in the daily just because they are in the wrong side and don't surrender"

I love how, despite it being proven in the first half that his attacks are COMPLETELY ineffectual on the Mavericks, Mega is still determined to be a front-line combatant.
Wouldn’t be much of a mega man if he didn’t.
Maybe if he shot a lot more energy bullets instead of like 5 minutes of dialogue per 1 blast of arm gun

@@irvinglawrence I just commented now on this page on why I always thought Light was the true villain of the entire series. Creates the problem and creates a stronger potentially more dangerous problem to deal with the problems which equals annihilation of mankind. I mean really what more do we expect from a man who lives with two robots, one of which is a teenage girl with well what we can all agree upon is an ample bosom. Says some stuff about the designer. Food for thought.

Part of the problem is that Mega Man is already too much like X. They just made him a hardass instead.

@@gochem3013 This might have been an Engrish thing since they also spelt Mandrill as Moundrill. I've see this in cartoons before. Watch the grocery list Rebecca Cunningham from TaleSpin episode Captains Outrageous checks off, it's really obvious.

Not really. X here seems like a more determined form of X from the series. Zero always has a smirk implied in everything he did and always seemed to be always sarcastic and confident. Even in Megaman Zero, he merely went from smugly sarcastic to darkly sarcastic as the battles of ages worn down his confidence to make it more cynical. He was always still the best. He just didn't care anymore. Megaman was always more duty oriented. He always wanted to get his mission done and do it right.
X in this show is all purpose and determination. That was never really Zero.
It's kind of funny with this show. While you can tell that this is a poor rendition of the original Mega Man, it has some decent animation (half of the time). Granted there are alot of stupid things about this show, but the action is decent at best, in terms of early 90s animation.
I remember liking the Mega Man Cartoon when I was a kid, but this episode brought a whole new level to the entire cartoon series. I'm surprised that nothing further happened from this episode in making a possible Mega Man X series. Even the Japanese had little in the animation department when it comes to the X series. In this, X is superb in every way possible, treated as a full-grown adult, is powerful, and your imagination can take off in depicting a very troublesome future for humanity. Such a shame that nothing further happened to utilize this arc.
I wish zero was here.

Why doesn't Light seem remotely interested in Mavericks?
Why doesn't Megaman use his Roll upgrade or at least stand up for himself when X arrives?
To be fair it's the FUTURE so having an answer to the term Maverick in the present is voided out
Plus the upgrades wouldn't do jack crap to them anyway

for a shitty cartoon, they sure put 100% effort into backround design, character design is pretty decent but the whole MACHO MAN design for every robot is super lame (all robots have a 6pack hahaha) the ACTION in this episode was off the hook too!
Well even though we think differently i personally feel as though this show is a good take on mega Man in the west.in my opinion

Funny how X said hunting mavericks is his prime programming while in reality Dr. Light built him with the ability to think, feel, worry and have free will.
I never understood why they changed that. They clearly had to have known since they use the terms Reploids and Mavericks correctly. Probably they wanted to keep Mega Man as the moral center of the story to "set X right" because it's pretty clear X is better than Mega Man on account of having both a free will and the acquired maturity to express it without compromising Dr. Light's intentions

Nitpicking, but he was OP only in Mega Man 3 (NES). For whatever reason he was nerfed after that one, not including six and seven.

this isn't how X is supposed to be, he was supposed to be a Repliod that cares about life more than anything, the most Human of all Reploids, that was how Dr. Light made him.
But X isn't a reploid because the reploids are based on (replications of) him. Unless I got that all back to front.

Vile is awesome purely because when he was watching X get swept away by the water, he made a good one-liner instead of a water-related pun.
They were planning to make an American Mega Man X series and it was supposed to be a lot like G. I. Joe only with robots. This episode was meant to be it's promo, but unfortunately things didn't get that far.

@patriotadEEUU This episode was produced before X gained much of a personality in the games. It was intended to be a kind of sneak peak at a Mega Man X cartoon that never got off the ground (pity, really), so they may have intended to work on X's personality in his own series. The world will never know.
According to the deep lore of megagam X, X would never do something like this. In fact Vile would be the one to create immeasurable damage while fighting things

Mega Man X got distracted giving a thumbs up back to little Mega Man. I forgot how entertaining this cartoon was. These were the good old days of early morning cartoons with a bowl of cereal right before school and early Saturday morning cartoons. Anyone born in the 80s, I myself in '85 will miss the early days of these early morning cartoons one after the other and even remember some of the commercials. The 90s were such a fun time, often imitated never duplicated.

I actually like the voices of Mega Man, Mega Man X, Roll, and Dr. Light from this series. They should recast them if they do a Mega Man series remake.

I really wish Vile had gotten his own series. I loved this version of Vile. If the animation looked a little better (I wasn't too big a fan of the animation style of this show), Vile would have been pretty much perfect for me.

It's almost like they never watched the opening of Mega Man X where it very clearly explains what kind of robot X is. What is this "prime programming" nonsense? How in the world would X have "prime programming" to hunt Mavericks when he was designed and built long before Mavericks ever existed? In fact, all Mavericks are Reploids (actually it is Repliroids in Japan) based on X's design.

All the nonstop fighting, losing this comrade, losing that comrade, even losing Zero for the third time (seemingly for good too) was enough to finally make him stop caring. It's only because of X6's existence that he was rewritten at the last second to be sane enough to just take himself out of the fight before he went off the deep end.
if it was Mark Gatha who voiced X in this episode, I would probably go Gaga over Gatha(for people who are wondering who Gatha is, he's the guy who voiceed Megaman X on Megaman X8 and Command Mission, as well as Megaman Maverick Hunter X for the PSP). Its just not X when his voice is like that. Well, its better than Megaman X4 Girly voice X anyway.

On one hand, it's kind of stupid that Vile would wait to enter the portal so he could kill X first
But on the other hand, it's completely in character for him. The character that didn't exist for another 20 years, but still.
