    While Peter-Sam thought it was Duke the lost engine (aka Granpuff), it was really an earl who came to the centenary. The ‘engine dukes’ that Duck was talking about were GWR 3252 classes that really had been scrapped.

    I would have loved to have seen Sir Handel's reaction to finding out about 'All Engine Dukes Being Scrapped'. I mean, there could have been a part where Sir Handel glances over at Peter Sam with a worried expression or something to acknowledge to us that both engines had something they were hiding from the other engines.

    • @arenjtumastens
      @arenjtumastens 4 роки тому +7

      He should've, because Duck shouldn't have been continuously misinterpreting the situation about Dukes. What Peter Sam was talking about was the Duke from the Mid-Sodor Line, not the Great Western Dukes!
      (To Duck): Can't you understand that part, for crying out loud??!? We're NOT talking about those Dukes! This is a Narrow Gauge one, not the Iron Dukes or the Earl of Berkeley! [Besides, later on, Thomas met the Iron Duke (possibly a replica) on the broad gauge line at the Great Railway Show he attended at the National Railway Museum at York. Perhaps he must have told you about it?]

      Well actually, Duke the Lost Engine, the book in which Mid-Sodor Duke debuted was published in 1970, 5 years after Very Old Engines, so it's highly likely that Awdry didn't plan ahead that far and put a reference in Duck and Dukes.

    • @dysprosium

      @@arenjtumastens The Duke that Thomas met was a replica, plus, that story was written by Christopher, and was published in 1991, 21 years after Duck and Dukes.

    The C Awdry's don't need remastering. It was only books 15-20 and some of the Johnny Morris stuff that needed remastering. The original 15-20 were from cassette recordings (me putting cassette player in front of computer mic) and some of what we had on vinyl had groove jumps. That's all the remastering we're doing. I came across an MP3 CD of all the Morris and Rushton so that's where the remasters come from. I send them to NewController and he puts them with the film previously used.

      Peter Sam and Sir Handel (or Stuart & Falcon) were painted green & blue respectively when on the Mid Sodor Railway in RWS: The TV series just reused the models (probably for budget reasons) as the Duke episodes were filmed first (probably). Whilst it doesn’t explain Duncan, it does explain why Sor Handel & Peter Sam are blue & green on the Skarloey railway.
