Charming story, really well read. I needed to know the link between these engines, this explains it. We need some anti-gravity to raise this video up the tube ranks.
If you look closely at the scene of Skarloey and Talyllyn in the workshop, you can see the words 'Fletcher Jennings' and 'Whitehaven' on the wall outside the windows.
@@terencewilliammckenna6121 Captain Baxter, who Stepney mentioned, was also built by Fletcher Jennings. I believe that there was a reunion in the not too distant past involving all the surviving British based FJ locos.
Weird you should say that, because Lincoln indirectly led to the Talyllyn Railway being built: the quarries it served were quite small, until a family of Manchester millowners named the McConnells purchased them, expanded them, and built the railway to transport the slates away. The reason for this was the American Civil War. This was disrupting cotton supplies from the American South to English textile mills, like the McConnells'. They purchased the Bryneglwys quarry so as to diversify their business interests. So, if it wasn't for the election of Abraham Lincoln triggering the American civil war, there would have been no Talyllyn Railway, and thus no inspiration for the creation of the Skarloey Railway!
That's just how incredibly meta the RWS is, man. Skarloey and Rheneas are fictional characters based off of their realistic counterparts. It astounds to no where's end to how superimpressive-lookin' the illustrations are to make the reality of railroading in its finest perspective.
This was based off of the Tally-Llyn railway where 2 trains arrived Tally-Llyn (Skarloey) and Dulgock(Rheneas) if you have seen all of the Skarloey stories all of them are based of of this railway like refreshment lady being left behind etc etc if you want a full history to to the Unlucky Tug and find the History of Skarloey to find the History of this railway
@23456789Alexis I don't know. I want to say Britt Allcoft and whoever owned Thomas back in the nineties, but I fear they won't return. Maybe...the Awdrys themselves. I know they're authors, but if one of them worked on Thomas, it would rock, and Allcoft if she DOES return.

My favorite book in the whole series. Wilbert Awdry's writing at it's best.
Yes
Indubitably 💯💯
Skarloey's grumpy face looks quite like Toby's cross face in the TV series in the 6th illustration
Holy cow, you’re right!
Reminds me of “pouty James”, where a red engine grumbles about taking trucks instead of coaches and gives a silky face
If you look closely at the scene of Skarloey and Talyllyn in the workshop, you can see the words 'Fletcher Jennings' and 'Whitehaven' on the wall outside the windows.
Yes, that’s company in England where Talyllyn was built
I think it's funny that Skarloey has a face in this illustration. I thought that the engines weren't supposed to have faces unless they were on Sodor.

I would love to visit the talyllyn railway someday👍
I love this story!!!
Skarloey used to be the opposite of Mike.
Or...like Gordon. Or James.
I wish Neil was in season 4 of the TV series
I feel the same man.
I wish Samson wasn't that incompetent.
Neil needs to be in the TV series, period.
I don't want to see him in the new series.
Why he should of been in S4 is because, the
Skarloey and Mid-Sodor engines debuted in that season.
Neil is my favourite character so why wouldn't I want Seires? XD
is it me or Skarloey's old controller looks kinda like Abe Lincoln? I'm from The U.S btw
So am I! And yes, I can the see the resemblance.

Because they weren't facing towards the camera.
