Really is written so well. Throughout this book the you can feel the Fat Controller growing more and more frustrated. Initially he blows off there being two engines instead of one by sarcastically giving his 'engines have numbers' line to the inspector to in the in of this part turning away and admitting that he really doesn't know what to do. It's a really well written story
"I've decided to send Douglas back and keep you. You upset my arrangements." "Anyone would think, that Donald had his accident on purpose." ... I think Donald did have that accident deliberately. As Douglas was going to be sent back, he crashed into the signalbox to buy Douglas time to make things right.
Ok, I read it. Very nice, and yes, Donald and Douggie indeed swapped tenders to stay out of trouble, you got that right. Nice idea to have Thomas in there too, really makes sense in this story.
A little extension to the beginning that could give more continuation: "Gordon had to take the visitors home before the special coach was found again; and all way he heard them saying what a Bad Railway it was. As for the Twins, the Fat Controller scolded them both severely."
I think Douglas deliberately crushed the break van. He was mad that his twin brother was getting blamed for the chaos. So Douglas decided to teach the van a lesson.
Your wrong the fat controller only ordered donald but Douglas was about to be scrapped so they got rid of there numbers and they both snuck over to sodor
He was sorry because he got in trouble with the Fat Controller. The twins were trying to be extra good in the hopes that maybe, the Fat Controller would keep both of them. However, Donald crashed and now the Fat Controller isn't sure again.
Probably that Douglas was almost sent back. Donald is the one who smuggled Douglas to Sodor, and he had been fighting for a while to keep his brother safe.
Something that often pisses me off is the Fat Controller blaming engines for stuff out of their control. (You know, it's not Donald's fault that the rails were slippery. When Thomas rammed into the station master's house, he was more cross that Thomas left the shed while it was mostly the janitors fault for being reckless while cleaning his interior, etc.) I mean, it's one thing to be reckless (you know, Percy ramming the baggage, James bumping coaches, Percy not handling freight cars properly) and another doing stuff out off his control.
@@greenninjalloyd4376 I agree. Same with Sir Topham Hatt scapegoating Emily after she didn't deliver the flour (though it was the trucks' fault and it was out of her control). He probably was just too hungry to think straight, as he said, "Looks like I'm not going to get my toast and muffins tomorrow" or something like that, but that was no excuse for blaming Emily for something mostly out of her control. Overall, I just can't bear to look at episodes like this. And it boils my blood to see that this is not uncommon in the workplace.
