Fireworks, Haha! I remember my friend last year was building that airfix Lancaster bomber the Dambusters one he had same sort of issue's he did get it looking fantastic in the end though I must admit but then one it was all painted up n glossed he went to lay the decals down and Oh god that was it! They just melted and flaked off when dried! Disaster struck! So maybe watch with the decals once you get it up to scratch!
Might be a bit late now but this video (ua-cam.com/video/ziIndar-tv4/v-deo.html )shows how warping can be reversed, I've used a hot air gun (very very carefully!)😬 with success😁. This old plastic can get difficult to work with, I am building an old Airfix Halifax that was bent and cracked in a few places, got it together in the end though and converted it to a Halifax C8 of Red Eagle Aviation. Good luck with the build.
I admire your persistence. I think it would be a short flight to the bin if it were me.
I would love to build a model of this, despite your challenges its looking good please crak on with it cannot wait to see the end result

I built this model in 1970s it came with a tractor and trolleys
maybe change the title to :- Airfix Long Stirling 1/72 Part 3 !
I think it will look great after the "meltdown magic".
