Liam, One of my favourite aeroplanes, the Mk 4. The 'cute' yellow diamond, by the way, was fitted to aircraft during the earlier portion of the war, I suppose before confidence grew that the Axis Forces were not about to launch chemical attacks. These panels were Gas Detection Panels and were fitted where a crew member could see it and warn them of the possibility of contamination. They were, I imagine, a similar thing to the panels that we fitted to our NBC (or CBRN as it became) Suits during the Cold War and would alter colour in the event of chemical contamination. In the case of single seat fighters, they were situated out on the mainplane, so that it could be checked by the pilot whilst flying and the ground crew, on the ground.
Turned out really nice! Airfix has definetely upped their game during the last couple of years.Btw i am uploading modelling content on my rc channel, check it out if you like.Have a great day and keep on modelling!😀
good to know about the issues with the kit, still probably will get one because I love the Mk4, Think its that strange nose
