Yup the majority of the Brit built Beauforts had the Taurus, all the Australian ones used a Pratt and Whitney Twin Wasp; the defensive guns were all Vickers types apart from the ventral type one which was a Browning. (Wikipedia). I'm just putting the transfers on the 1:48 Airfix Blenheim MkIF, and interesting to see how much of the Blenheim survives in the Beaufort, and also into the Beaufighter. I didn't intedn to get this kit as it doesn't technically fit into my 1:72 Bomber Command project but I could be tempted by such a nice looking kit.
Like a few other aircraft names chosen in the past by the Air Ministry and manufacturers, it's a tricky name to pronounce if you haven't heard it before. Strictly speaking, it's BOW-FERT. With the stress on the first syllable. And bow as in longbow, not something you do in front of the Queen... Nice review! :-)
thats ok.. i was brought up with saying Blen Heim!! see my documentary on it.. I was so cained in the comments for it lol.. Funny that modelers say things differently.. we say Tam -e yah and america say tam ee ah. or the best one. de-cals or deck-als.. lol
Looks a good model. I've just read a great book about flying Beauforts back in WW2 - called The Last Torpedo Flyers, which is the autobiography of Arthur Aldridge, who won a DFC and Bar. Well worth looking up on Amazon should anyone want to know more about the planes, and the men who flew them. Plus it also tells the story of the painting on the box front, and how it was basically a sucide mission as he really never stood a chance of ever getting home again
Thanks for that.. I believe most torpedo missions were suicide runs.. Ill have a look out for that book.. i did a documentary of the swordfish, that was a heroic torpedo bomber if there ever was one ua-cam.com/video/w8owEB9zk9U/v-deo.html
Yes you're right, twin Vickers K guns in that type of Bristol turret, one mounted on its side. This is accurate and NOT an Airfix error as some have said elsewhere. It was the only way the Bristol turret designers could get two Vickers Ks (which were drum fed) into that turret's cupola, it originally being designed for only one gun. I started my Airfix Beaufort yesterday, and whilst it is very well engineered - yet again I have an Airfix product with warped fuselage halves. Once (old tool Buccaneer) is bad luck. Twice (1/48 Meteor F8) is trying my patience. But this is taking the mickey. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Nice review, and like the pace. Thanks
Thanks for watching!

Always get in touch with airfix, they are helpful with things like that
Haha sike we get the stuff first I guess we’re more important than the uk at the moment 😂
Maybe you’re just closer to the distribution centre 😂
It is distributed in alphabetical order. Yeah that must be it! I pity the model builders in Zimbabwe.
Its never right 😀
Good shout lol
I don't understand the thinking behind the box art, why show just the arse end of the thing?
I know!!! strange decision that.. Have it so its flying away from the ship in flames... strange
