Marvelous, you did an incredible job of the old Airfix kit.
My neighbour`s father was the mid upper turret gunner on Sterling BF578 of 218 Gold Coast Sqn.which flew out of Downham Market the night of July 29th. 1943. Hamburg was the target. On approach to the target they were hit by flak and then set upon by a night fighter. Although wounded he was able to bail out. He was picked up by the Gestapo and received no medical treatment for his wound for 3 months. When the Luftwaffe found him they treated him well and he survived the war as a POW. He was liberated by Russian forces in 1945.

I made that in the early 80s. I wanted a Lanc but the model shop had only this or a Wellington. I assembled it and painted it, and hung it from my ceiling with the Spit, Hurrie and Stuka and Lysander. You did a great job there. Thanks for sharing.

Around 30 years ago while speaking with a wartime Stirling pilot, I mentioned that it was not noted as a particularly good bomber. He would have none of it. I had just slandered very airplane that had carried him and his crew safely through dozens of trips. Though more aware of its shortcomings than I could ever be, there remained a strong bond between man and machine. No 40y/o punk would insult his old warhorse. ...and I thanked him for setting me straight.

That is a David Brown aircraft tractor. Postwar, David Brown acquired the Aston Martin company and guided it to success beginning with the Aston Martin 2-Litre, known as the DB1. Today the company continues to use the designation "DB" through its lineup of DB11, DBS, etc. and once included the iconic DB4 made famous by Sean Connery in Goldfinger.
Oh yeah, almost forgot.....beautiful job showing the old Stirling kit the love it deserves.
Well, what a difference between a tractor and nowadays cars...I just checked on Internet. The one in Goldfinger is a DB 5. Almost the same... except the price due to Sean Connery.... I was a teen ager at the time, but I have been ' impressed ' by Miss Pussy Galore...LOL
Those Aeromaster paints are very rare. Probably one of the best acrylics ever.

Very nice work, and it's good to see an ''unfashionable'' old crate like the Stirling, which really wasn't that good as a bomber.
Thanks very much. Undoubtedtly, the Short Stirling has an ' English style '.... but even if unefficient, in my opinion, it is a very nice plane. His problem was a conception error. It has been a great pleasure for to built this kit. See you soon
I think I read somewhere that the Stirling original design literally had its wings clipped by the RAF, who decided it had to fit inside a standard hanger. The resulting short wings hindered lift. I'm no expert so I may be wrong. Shame if it is true I actually love the look of this aircraft.
@@user-wf7mx8pz4e You are right. I have read it . But I am not sure that it is a shame. It is probably because the aerodynamic science was not very performing at this time

Merci. C'est le vieux modèle Airfix dont le moule est agé de plus de 50 ans. J'avais ce kit depuis plus de 20 ans. Trouvé dans un magasin qui a fermé depuis. Je pense qu'il est encore possible d'en trouver, sur ebay ou autres.
