- PART 2! Oil all over the top of the engine and you don't know where it is coming from? It is your Upper Timing Chain Cover Gasket leaking! In this video I show how to fix the oil leak common on Audi A4 A5 Q5 with the 2.0L TFSI engine.
See below for links to buy the gasket and tools to fix it:

Glad you found the leak and fixed it. Also happy to see, you didn't pay an exorbitant amount of $$ to a dealership. And in the process, you get to learn, and teach the whole world.. Well done, My friend. 👍
Fantastic video. I have the same issue changed both gaskets but saw some oil in the same place. Thanks a lot!!
thanks man i have a issue of losing oil very fast, wil definitely do this fix
Thank you so much!
Sounds like we have done all the same things to our cars! I have done the cover,
the cover gasket, the camshaft adjuster magnet and gaskets both in the cover and the one you just changed in this video. The only other thing you haven’t changed that I changed due to codes is the Variable
Timing Solenoid. 😊
There’s always something to fix on these cars!
@@CarsandCodingMore so German makes.
Hi. Terrific content and very thorough. I have a 2012 Q5 2.0 with same leak, pooling in the top right front of the engine as you described in part 1.
I have a question though. In part 1 you stripped the top torx 30 screw of the variable solenoid actuator and managed to remove it with vice grips. Did you end up replacing that screw? It looks like it was retightened nicely and you loosened it with no issue here. If so, do you have a part number for those screws? I’ll be replacing the two seals from part 1 and the other seal here in part 2, thanks to your detailed videos!
I never replaced the screw I stripped. It wasn't that bad. Next time I am in a junkyard and I remember I'll get one... but I will probably forget!
Can you put that oring part number on here. Love these videos all the way down under in New Zealand cheers Brian Cole
Rawr 😍
Did you install the seals dry? Are the seals for the timing cover as well as the small solenoid the PTFE type that need to be installed dry?
Thank you for the video I was trying to figure this out! I have a question I change my upper timing chain cover and gaskets but I didn't use any sealant. Do you think I'll be fine or did you just add some to yours for extra precaution?
I only added it for extra precaution. Should be fine without the sealant.
Thank you ! I appreciate the reply. Love the videos helps me alot in the past years.
Excellent video. Do you know the part # for the gasket that you initially thought was the source of the leak? Figure I might as well replace them both but can only find the “inner” gasket that you ended up replacing here.
These are the 3 part numbers. I have links to Amazon to buy in the video description. 06H 103 483 C
06H 103 483 E
Elring 538 010
@@CarsandCodingMany many thanks 🙏 The “E” in 06H 103 483 E threw me a bit. I was able to find 06H 103 483 D and that appears to be the correct “outer” gasket/O ring. Typo? 🤷♂️Either way, thanks again. I think we’re into the thousands in terms of how much money your videos have saved me at this point 😂✊
i seen one that has the same problem how much those cost
I have only one bolt on the magnetic plate that’s stripped. I don’t know what else to do
You can’t get it off? Use a vice grip.
are the good cars ?
Has this fix worked after 3 months?
Yes! The upper timing chain gasket and the o ring fixed the leak. Also I replaced the pcv valve in case that was causing increased crankcase pressure.
