I edited it out on accident but I would always suggest replacing the upper timing chain guide (in between the camshafts) and the timing tensioner side guide. Replace everything if you want I don’t care. I’m just telling you my 11+ year experience with these engines. I’m still Learning about everything but I know more than most y’all

I need that and the upper one done please help me. I know you are the go-to man for this, and it would be an honor to have you work on my car. I live in Florida it's nice this time of year free living and food while you're here and your money of course. And I can be a big help for you too if I was able to. Please respond to let me know either way I would really appreciate it.🙏🙏🙏

Sealing mine was a PITA... I bought a brand new one and still didn't seal. The trick I found after needing to put my car into service position twice and taking the cover off 4 times to fix it is to drain the oil and use RTV Ultra Black, put a nice even 1/4in bead all the way around. Put the cover on and put the bolts in super soft finger loose so you barely see the sealant squish out and I mean very slightly move. Let it sit for an hour and a half and go out there and torque it up in a star type pattern. That is only my experience, but I never want to do that again. Impact the crankshaft pulley on and off many times... Oh and here is a tip, the 4 bolts on the bottom, clean the oil out of the bolt holes first, when you take the cover off oil can get in those holes and when you go to tighten the newly sealed cover on this oil can come up and out as you tighten the cover getting into the sealant making it not stick/seal. I wish everyone luck!

Good tip. Thank u. Was the new bottom cover worth the expense? Or can the old one be reused?

My vw Tiguan timing chain cover has only five bolts.
    -No wonder why leaks oil.
Thanks for the amazing work! Very detailed oriented.

Audi quoted me $2250 for upper/lower chain cover and valve cover gaskets. Doesn’t look that hard. Great vid!

Don’t let them charge you labor to take the timing cover off to reseal it with a new one and not do the timing chains/tensioner service since they already there.

I learned these lower timing covers expand under heat? So it’s better to get a new one once it comes off.

Nice .. thus cane just in time because I’m doing an upper timing chain cover gasket on my B8.5 and now while I’m at it gonna do the lower.. and was wondering what RTV you recommended.. black silicone.. nice.. that was a good prep to the cover.. I like the grinder approach.. dude I hope Milwaukee is giving you some royalties.. you might be their best promoter of their tools.. I also agree on their Fuel impacts and ratchets.. best stuff out there.. another great video as always 👍🏻 stay hydrated and you look like you’re down 15lbs

What about a flapper disc made for side grinders? 60 or 80 grit. Just sharing some of my 33 years of experience and 19 years with Audi engines. There's a lot of important small tidbits to learn and I'm still learning. I like all of your vids. I would trust to let you work on my Audi's.

Hey bro I recently Resealed my Oil Pan. Obviously that requires draining and adding new oil. When Resealing the Lower Timing Cover. Do I have to drain oil before I begin, or can I do this while keeping the oil in the motor? I'm noobie so just making sure. I don't even have 200 miles on my current oil yet. Your videos are very helpful.

Hi naptown from wisconsin! I think I must have a problem! Ithink I could watch your entertaining, informative Audi videos for hours at the time!! Have you seen exhaust cam followers with unusual wear and chipping on any tfsi's??Can I ask your first name,it just seems to me that you have an almost personal relationship with all your followers.Maybe once a year we could have Naptown get together!!

@@ripsaw2322 well giving the only problem it had when I pulled the head there wasn't a catastrophic failure and no other major issues I belive its good. I would say for a fact everything is good but I'm still waiting on a few parts so I haven't ran it yet. I had to do several repairs from a water pump to a new turbo coolant flush, valve job, timing chain, new starter, and new engine mounts. I'm going to post some videos once I get the rest of my parts.

Dude, i love your think outside the box attitude, and ideas that you come up with to make things easier, but this is where you lost me. there are so many problems with what your doing LOL I honestly had to rewatch, thinking, maybe his doing a parody video. at one stage it got so ridiculous, i honestly thought your going to say "I dont believe in no sealent, nah no neeed, All I need to do Dab my finger im this oil and rub it in the groves I made or sumthing. But I love how you warn and be caution about using lint free towels. bro thats the least of your problems, see all of the selant thats bursting from the sides on the outer side. what do you think is happening to all the sealents thats busted out on the inside? you really dont need to worry about lint hahahah

Pos unless you get a maintained one and you maintain it yourself. Then they're very good.
