Will Core Keeper Rival Terraria?

- Core Keeper is a game that's been in early access for a while now and many people in the Terraria community have been keeping their eyes on it. As someone who loves Terraria and who believes the Minecraft and Terraria communities are both waiting for the next big thing, I'm curious as to whether Core Keeper will be a part of the next generation's sandbox games. So can Core Keeper be just as popular as the titans that came before it? Lets find out.

This is partially in response to someone who thought your script was AI-generated. I appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos, both the play, edits, and the script and voice-over. Maybe some people aren't used to the way you speak - forethought and all. You appear to put time and effort into what you want to say and demonstrate, which is why I clicked on this video. I previously subscribed for your Terraria content, and also really enjoyed your take on other games, like this one. Thank you!
I really appreciate that. I'm kind of under the impression that a lot of people now hear ai in stuff they'd never even consider it being in just because of how prolific it's become. I don't really take offense, I do have a voice that can sound like some of the ai voices out there, probably because it's just so good XD
@@Throarbin honestly, it's your nonsensical way of speaking sometimes
your tone and cadence is really like all over the place. your over dramatize pauses for no reason, putting emphasis on words that dont necessarily need them, and in general just the way you speak makes it sound like you're not human
yeah you have "emotion" when talking but it's so fake and fabricated, it's just weird.
like, i get it it's a kids' channel, i understand the "youtube voice" but i think you really go above and beyond and people just dont find that genuine and think is AI
writing this before actually finishing the video but there's actually a collaboration boss in core keeper from terraria... king slime. Functionally, it's similar to the first slime boss but stronger and has a few extra tricks. Also, as to the topic of food and hunger, you don't actually *need* to fill the hunger bar as it's only an active buff rather than a debuff for it being empty, positive reinforcement instead of negative. Basically, while you have energy in the tank you have higher defense and strength when attacking or breaking blocks but there's no actual danger in running on 0 permanently.
Yup, King slime appears later :)
Well, you deal half damage and half hp when you're at 0 hunger so it's not just positive reinforcement
I'm still holding out for the sandbox game that's finally 1D. Having 2 or 3 dimensions is just too confusing.
I mean, in a sense, Minecraft's One Block Skyblock is ~1.5D - progression is fixed, there is only one direction you can go, and yet you progress.
@@JRexRegis but this one block alone is in 3D though, so you will be FAR from 2D dont even talk about 1D, i mean 1D cant have both vertical AND horizontal in it, by definition even the text i write right now is in 2D, doing something in 1D is impossible by définition x)
I bought Core Keeper a while ago and although I haven't played much yet because of reallife but it's a really comfy and interesting game so far in my experience :)
This is my first time hearing about Core Keeper at all! I'm really thankful you've made a video about it, as it's now really peaked my interest.
I gotta say, the exploration and finding bosses out in the open feels like the first time I played Hollow Knight blind, I really love how it feels.
This is all to say that I would love to see further videos about your expierence with Core Keeper!
keep the broken handle it can be turned into a legendary sword with no durability
Have you heard of Necesse before? Maybe something to try out as well, I really liked the progression and the villager system in it :D
Never heard of it, perhaps I'll check it out
@@ThroarbinI have mentioned it in one of your streams before, and you responded 😆
@@TheCrazyCount I forget 90% of the things said in livestreams 😂
I love both. They definitely could with the pace at which corekeeper's going!
9:03 there is a grain food that you can grow that does nearly exactly that, though theyre post the beginner three bosses
Well, the beginning is where I think it's most needed 😅
Fun fact, enemies and dropped items do not despawn.
I got core keeper a long time ago. They have already added a lot to the game and made great changes to progression and added quality of life fetures. I am on my second playthrough, and both times felt unique enough due to updates.
9:05 After the first three bosses if you go to the new area blocked by a wall there is actually a grain which is easy to grow and gives a good amount of food
This games kinda overhead camera position reminds me of the original Legend Of Zelda. Its really quite unique.
There is grain, and it does simply restore a bunch of health, but I'm not saying where you get it
I have played a lot of this game even attempting to kill some of the spirits (the next bosses) but a few things that are easily missed
1 crafting stations can use items from adjacent chests
2 multiplayer is very well made and seamlessly
3 game has a lot of crashes when detecting monitors if your experiencing difficulty launching the game make all monitors the same resolution and mirror etch other and it should work
Happy hunting -core keeper enjoyer
You're right, I didn't know those things, except for the multiplayer part. They seem to have really focused on it.
I hadn't given much thought to this game before, but it looks pretty cute! I'd watch you do a playthrough.
Yeah, it's pretty great! Hope I will be able to justify a full run with videos and what have you, just need this video to get out of the gutter, lol
feeding trays are suppost to be filled with food not seed lol
I’d be interested in more Core Keeper videos! Although comparing view count, it seems UA-cam algorithm says otherwise
Yeah, the algorithm ain't favoring this one. We'll have to wait and see I guess
nice video, i been kicking around getting this one. think i may go ahead and pull the trigger.
It was definitely worth in my opinion
WE WANT MORE!!!!!
I enjoy both games so much, I've played terraria since mid 1.1 and I started core keeper a couple days after its release. I've spent over a thousand hours on terraria/tmod and almost 400 hours on core keeper and I was super exited too see core keeper has a update (this was a while ago) and as I was reading the update I saw that core keeper added a new boss so I checked it out and found out core keeper added the king slime boss from terraria.
So what I think is that in the future when core keeper is more popular amongst the terraria community people will see them as rivals but they will know deep down core keeper and terraria are not rivals, they are actually the opposite. Much like how people see minecraft and terraria as rivals but know deep down they are quite the opposite
For me Personally , when V-Rising fully releases and is out of early access I have a feeling that game will be in the top 3 , it has 5-8k players on consecutively , it’s peak players was 150k+ and it has 100k+ players on daily , btw this game is Early Access , overall this game will strive .
For me this video have a lot of small mistakes like when you click on cattle you can clearly see that they consume crops + you don't use pet properly if you click on an arrow near the pet you can see all the buffs you can get by leveling your pet like dog can give movement speed up to 90% or how parrot can give 120% if you lucky of critical damage
i myself would love 2 see you do more CoreKeeper
im finding this game after the 1.0 trailer and this game is a "rival" in my mind atleast. They are adding summoner. That alone. I mean. I just love being a summoner. i CANNOT wait. and the pets arent stupid so, maybe the AI will be decent
I hope it does since it’s my most favorite game
I would like oxygen not included to be more talked about but i understand why not, great sandbox tho
As a major fan of both the cannel and this masterpiesce of a game, it seems my dreams have come true. 🗿
Maybe, the video is doing so poorly I don't know if I could put more time into it. Sure hope it does better as I'd love to keep going through it
@@Throarbin Core keeper is a gem of a game, please stick with it, i'll make sure to watch and like every single thing you make on it. Terraria and Core Keeper are both great games, don't let your first video's performance on it be a downer.
@@Innerdesert Yeah, the video really hasn't done well at all which is too bad. Core Keeper content generally hasn't done very well from the looks of it which is really too bad considering it's such a great game. We'll just have to see how things go.
@@Throarbin Well i'm here for it and i'm sure others are too, one of the issues may be that it just seems 'lesser' than games like minecraft and terraria, but i'm sure it'll gain its deserved popularity.
I liked the video!
You got me to try the game for real, dust off a year of library oblivion, and boy has it been fun!
I did an abortive first attempt a whiiiile ago, then benched it cause I didn't manage to get the gist of what I was supposed to do or expect from the game.
I kinda wish there was an option to enable a basic tutorial on the 1st start
I'm not dumb, I've gamed a lot, have good sense and once I got an Idea what the game was about I had no trouble figuring out almost everything on my own.. but right at the beginning, right after the intro sequence, I think the game lacks direction and that loss of direction can lose you players (like it lost me) who simply don't get what the game is supposed to be.
All a tutorial would need to do is run you through the wood tier and then send you away by telling you
"Go now! Mine, build a farm, look for bosses, explore and get stronger!"
I would play this if it was on consol tbh I'm more of a consol player and this looks super fun. I know they are planning on it as stated in this video so that gets me excited and can't wait
The 1.0 version will be launched on console along with the PC version!
@@Throarbin I can't wait thank you
This video is a perfect at showing why going in to things blind is so much fun
Yeah, it's so much fun!
When he said that this home feels more safe than in other games. 😅
Please don't get fooled. It'll escalate after beating the second boss and not making your base invasion-proof while progressing further.
Not really I defeated all 3 bosses + core keeper don't introduce new mobs to the starting area so with better armour the enemy become less powerful
I just downloaded the game it looks very fun !
You need to revisit CK, Throarbin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially now that the official release is out.
I love this game! my sister have been playing this for a while to stay in touch while we are appart.
Also, gardening is goated, make a huge farm and grind it, also cook a ton, the benefits are almost game breaking
For sure, it's just not the most exciting thing in the world
I would’ve played this by now but I’m on MacOS :/
also if you want to try something that’s underrated and in my opinion competes with this game, try Neceesse it’s better than it looks.
and out of the three games terraria, Minecraft, and Starbound, funnily enough Neceesse has the most advanced NPC AI I’ve ever seen lmao. 😅🤣
Never heard of it, perhaps I'll check it out
@@Throarbin thanks :D
I think you’ll be pretty amazed of what the citizens are capable of. your under thinking it 😁
This looks really fun it’s like Minecraft and terraria combined it probably won’t blow up like Minecraft but slowly getting popular? Yeah I could believe that
As I text this you just said what I said.
it does look like stardo Valley
Yeah, it's a pretty cool fusion of those three
Hope this gets ported to mobile platforms as well
everyone knows Desert Bus is the next Terraria
Stop it
It reminds me of escapits,is it just me?
Hopefully they put this game on Mac I’ve been hoping to play it for a while
I remember when a Mac was all I had, so many games could never be played. Maybe some day apple will be more gaming capable and people will make games for Mac
Starbound is still the the biggest terraria competitor in my eyes. I know plenty of people have had issues with the game but I still like it almost as much as terraria.
It's weird that we haven't seen many minecraft competitors in recent years. I hope hytale comes out sometime during my lifetime.
Yeah, I'm hoping Hytale comes out sometime, I think it looks fun. I haven't tried Starboard yet myself but yeah, I haven't heard a whole lot of positive reviews from people, mostly just "it's fine but not much there"
@@Throarbin Depending on what you want out of it you may enjoy it. Terraria has you progres by yourself from boss to boss where as Starbound has a story for better or worse and not much of bosses.
It's absolutely packed with content so whoever said there's not much to it hasn't played much.
One of my favorite aspects is monster collection with basically pokeballs. Oh and playing landlord to weird alien freaks!
This game looks really fun!
It is! Definitely recommend it!
lethal company
Hey it’s us😂
11:38
I love being a cow🐮
@@jakekirkman9934 Yeah, wondered if any of you would see this 😂
@@jakekirkman9934 he thinks we're cute
7:46 The door quite literally has a music symbol on it, Its not too stand outish but its quite visible so if anyone looks at it more than a passing glance and isn't standing Infront of that part which is exactly what you did lol. I think it stands out just fine.
Source: I play core keeper and I never watch the trailers I love playing with no spoilers and i figured it out quite fast
Edit1: I will say that the game has really come together the most recent updates it felt a lot more unfinished before ( because it was early early access) But recently it feels really good but there seems to be some bits needing more like early game food, more crops, animals, and i do believe they are gonna just keep adding bosses and keep expanding the world because in the time I've bought the game they expanded the bosses 3 times?
Edit2: There are other classes, You can be a faster sniper, A strong attacker, A tank with bunch of armor and health, A gunsman, You cant just use anything together and hope it works you do have to think about it. There are items you may want for certain builds of items and classes, The pets have reasons they have exp as they get stronger as they level up the parrot made you run faster ( split frame i saw in the video) So the more it levels up the faster you could run, The slime did damage So the more it levels up the more damage it could do. Its not perfect but its meant to spread out the load of the game with others. Its easy to just be a mainline attacking character but that wont work in the later boss fights because you might need someone in the back dealing damage while others take its attention. You might want to test things out which is fine but trying to build a character around something like a gun is not easy you need to find armor for it, items for it. And while it has 3 armor slots like terraria ( which i believe they got the idea from eachother when they had that collab) You need to go out in search of the right stuff to make it work.
There are no set order to the first 3 boss fights, Yes it's set up that you do it the slime, the bug, the hive but you can do them in any order you please as it is not forced. And the further you go out the less and less it matters in what order you fight the other bosses as their is a order they expect but there is nothing stopping you.
There are other points but i agree it feels lacking but from where it started to where it is it has improve beyond enough for me to say i think it could rival terraria easily. They have so many good ideas adding more and more content and with how its going it seems like their world will be forever expanding.
this game will either not be noticed or revolutionary, MORE
Not noticed and revolutionary is quite the range 😅
This game seems so good, i wish it was free :)
Afraid not, lol
sadly not :(@@Throarbin
What the core keeping?
No idea 😂
Great. More games where you will need to do a thing X for 2 thousand years to get to the max level. Why would anyone add something like that
Jo i play this game in this time
Imo this has absolutely no spec of relevance to Terraria. It's more of a Moonlighter + Stardew game.
I find it interesting you think it's similar to Stardew. Outside of it being 2.5 D and the fact that there is technically farming, the two have no other similarities. If the game were 2D instead of 2.5D though then it would be considered a Terraria clone without a second thought.
Hytale is like Silksong, we know of it, but it will never happen
I mean it might, nobody knows, lol
slime pet good early game parrot is busted late game
FOR THE UNHOLY ALGORITHM!
Hopefully it works, lol, this video is already doing quite poorly
This is my comment, i approve.
Why thank you
ı wish
Maybe someday. Games can be weirdly missed during early access but who knows
haha no
Really? Why not?
The script sounds like it's AI-generated
Well that's rude
*softly* don t, these games collabed together don t makeup an fake drama scenario
