The best thing imo that 1.0 added was waypoints because it really helps with farming bosses especially if you get an unlucky arena location and removes the tedium of backtracking if you were to die if you prefer not to make a shelter next to every arena
i started playing this game earlier and just spent hours exploring, its so much fun to just go around breaking walls to find whats behind, and finding new mobs, in my many MANY hours of playing minecraft and terraria, i have never focused on making a base that also looks good, but i genuinely want to make a good base in this game.
I have yet to play 1.0 with friends 'cus time but I know my time with it last year was great. So much of the game is made so well, from the gameplay to the music, the pixel art, etc. It all just clicked so well together and I'm so looking forward to being able to experience this game again with friends with all of its new content and improvements.
Core keeper is one of the most high quality game I’ve ever played, every aspect of this game is perfectly fine tuned and well done. Also you forgot to mention the amazing music, genuinely one of my favorite soundtracks out there despite being one of the most well done games I’ve played, the game struggles with its identity, ironically the core of the game is nothing we haven’t seen before, so despite being one of my favorite games, I wouldn’t consider it a top 10, maybe number 11 :)
Friend of mine recommended me this and actually got it for my birthday, i cant say im THAT into survival crafting games cause i just always get lost and things feel overwhelming but i gotta say ive put about 40 hours into the game so far and playing it together with my wife and my friend has been really really fun!
I played back in the really early stages of the game when there were only a few bosses, even then, i played for hours on end for weeks in a row just getting lost in the world and just enjoying the game, i stopped playing a year or two back but now that it's fully released, i feel like it's time to pester my friends to get the game and go on a new adventure and keep some cores.
I played this game before they introduced the desert biome. I painstakingly dig a channel to flooded the abyssal depth with the luminescent sea, It was beautiful, I made the dark dreary core into a luminescent pond.
So far, only thing I had to look up on my own was where to get planks from... was in one of the crafting stations I haven't built yet and forgotten about after it initially became available 😅
Awesome to hear this turned out amazing, I got this when it initially released in early access and it didn't grab me and felt empty. Hearing about what it evolved into is exciting, I have to find out how to split my time between this, satisfactory 1.0 and life.
I tried the game 2 years ago and got stuck on the worm boss, at the time amount of items you could find was limited and the boss would just run me over without having a chance to hit him. I tried it again recently and the game is far better now, far more item options, playstyle options, things to do
Bought this game today and uh...kinda been playing for 10 hours straight almost Simply cozy and warm, and the new summoner class is just the cherry on top
Nice review! Obviously, now everyone is talking about the game due to its launch. But the core game was already polished imo more than a year ago. It's certainly a pretty beautiful and enojoyable experience all around. Altought, you were the 2nd reviewer that I didn't heard a single mention made about the OST (no hate intended tho). I think it's composer's name is Jonathan Geer, and he definitely deserves to not be overlooked. Music throughout the finding process of discovering a new biome and also exploring it plays a key factor. Maybe it's because I'm a musician myself so it's hard for me to overlook this. Even tho, I'm trying to focus mostly on what I felt while playing the game.
Core keeper is so much better now. While it's actively crashing on both xbox series x pc and steam deck with performance problems as well as bizarre Ai movements and attack patterns and glitchy placing of walls floors and also farming/harvesting plants. 1.0 broke a lot of things in this game and I immediately noticed since I was on a previous version right before 1.0😂
surprisingly not much, it's up to you the way you go about it but there are ore deposits that you can automate the collection of after a certain point and that point can be reached pretty easily if you focus on it.
You can decrease (or increase by doing the reverse) the amount of mining by changing settings upon world creation to include more tunnels and caverns. So much so that you may end up with a map where you don't really have to mine much at all (only specific 'areas' will still be filled), as majority of the area will have just a handful of blocks.
is it possible to finish this game solo, without friends? or that is some kind of... self imposed challenge? you know, like if the game was developed around the idea to be played with more than 1 friends...
Yeah very possible. It just takes a bit more time. Bosses can be a pain because you can't be resurrected by other players, but good preparation of the area, gear, food and a pile of healing pots can get you through everything.
it's if you turned stardew into an adventure survival game, that's how cozy it is to me at least, sure it doesn't have the interaction with the characters of stardew and the warm feeling of the town, but you can create your own, you can create farms and pens full of animals to take care of and build entire towns full of npcs to trade with. The game is just relaxing to play.
I'm suprised you praised the combat, particularly the summoner. Especially after saying you wouldn't hold back. Summoner and mage are severely lacking. Particularly the summoner, which can't really be considered it's own class in it's current state it's just there to supliment other play styles. They're both so weak whilst also having to manage mana, something the other two play styles don't need. And then the overall diversity in weapon design isn't the best. Secondary effects should be a place to add more weapon diversity, but they're all machanically so similar within weapon archetypes. I still love the game, but these are issues that should have been ironed out before the release.
Welp...Inclusion of waypoints made portals irrelevant, at least for a single player that doesn't mind 'cheating' by hopping between worlds. Why get all those crazy resources if I can easily create a world with maxed amount of caverns and tunnels to get new waypoint or two for free, delete the world, make a new one, rinse and repeat. Well, the portals ARE way overpriced though.
honestly found the gameplay loop just as boring as it was from when I played it last year. As soon as I lowered the walls and explored the new biomes it all just felt so repetitive
Same here. This game ticks all my boxes but somehow it just bores me to tears after the walls come down. Started a new mage/summoner (so little content for these classes, wtf) playthrough because of the 1.0 release: Same result as before. Beat the second titan, reached the desert, explored two of the new (for me) biomes I could find there and I just quit. I can't bring myself to play it anymore
Graphic update for a pixelated game? Sorry, youre gonna wait forever probably 🎉 Not the game's fault if you can't see the beauty in a game without realistic graphics and nothing else
sorry to break it to you but if you don't know what is your goal or what you are supposed to do when staring out maybe you are just dumb? Like do you literally need an arrow around your character to point out your next objective?
"If the red dresser is gone, you'll know she found it", Immediately after its gone.
The best thing imo that 1.0 added was waypoints because it really helps with farming bosses especially if you get an unlucky arena location and removes the tedium of backtracking if you were to die if you prefer not to make a shelter next to every arena

I like the fact I can dig canals now. I can make an interconnected river system to connect the biomes
this game is A BANGER

You can tell the RNG to generate rivers now. Much less digging to have a comprehensive waterway.
So far, only thing I had to look up on my own was where to get planks from... was in one of the crafting stations I haven't built yet and forgotten about after it initially became available 😅

Came from Asmon's video to drop a like and comment.

I love keeping cores
Excellent review. thanks for making it. ✨
Really nice video, might check the game out. Looks chill ^^
Just patiently waiting for the Switch release.😊 Seems like the perfect game to play in handheld mode.
Bought this game today and uh...kinda been playing for 10 hours straight almost
Simply cozy and warm, and the new summoner class is just the cherry on top
I didnt know the axe mines multi blocks😮 thank you for video
It's actually a hammer not an axe. Good thing i had both and now I'm on a mission to mine the whole area within the one bosses circle of the map lol

Are the dessert enemies less tanky in 1.0? I only played early access and those hooded enemies took forever to die.
After watching the video I think… funny core game go brrrrrrrr
How tedious is the mining? Considering it's all underground there's probably a lot of time spent digging right?
surprisingly not much, it's up to you the way you go about it but there are ore deposits that you can automate the collection of after a certain point and that point can be reached pretty easily if you focus on it.
there are ways to set up automated farms for mobs, wood and ore, just not farming yet that im aware of
@@adamsicora1200 it’s pretty painless. Blocks don’t take long to get rid of if you have the right equipment
I enjoy the animation and sound effects of the cave blocks being mined down...its just chill..everything here is just cozy ❤

I mean your not allowed outside so it's as cozy as a house in a cave can be 😂
Oh, so very cozy.
Such a low testosterone thing to say.
Open Alpha was the bizznizz!

I'm playing this at 4k and it looks fucking terrible.
Stardew Valley looks better, I'm confused why it looks so bad at 4k???
honestly found the gameplay loop just as boring as it was from when I played it last year. As soon as I lowered the walls and explored the new biomes it all just felt so repetitive

i'll wait for graphic update for me it's to UI is to old and stuff like items/char are too pixelated.
It’s a pixel game my guy 😂

Pixel-art games are extremely beautiful and nostalgic, do you know video games well?..
tbh I feel like 1.0 was rushed
Ha ha it’s not better. It’s still dull and boring and with no clear explanation of what you are supposed to do. You wander aimlessly with no purpose.
