Devon Merriman What would add to the creepiness factor would be if they actually disappeared without a trace, it would be big news, and then some time after their disappearance videos from inside the house would start being posted again to this channel. The videos would just feature the camera moving around the house (filming the dead birds, the cobwebs, the bloodstains on the walls, etc.), with the sound of heavy breathing in the background.

What a nightmare! I had one, only one, come in through my fireplace once and it totally freaked us all out. It flew into my son's room and I got it trapped in there, then opened a window and it flew out - but not before shitting all over the place.
That's not a nightmare! That's a Disney dream come true! Well except for the birds pooping, but still a Disney level of wholesome magic!

If they came in through the chimney, these are probably chimney swifts. They nest in chimnies (obviously by their name), so it might be common to see them fly into your house. A fun fact about these birds is that they glide for almost the whole day until night comes or feeding babies, and they are said to fly for atleast 10 months straight. They will eat flying bugs like flies, bees, mosquitos, and beetles and will skim very low across water and catch some into their beak while flying. They might also sleep on the wing, so even if its night they will still be flying, you will just either not see or hear them.
This literally looks like one of the last scenes in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" and the way they came in was pretty much the same.

They have short legs and can't take off from the ground, They have to crawl up and drop down into flight, I hope you didn't throw them out into the dark, Birds can't see very well in the dark at night and they have to find a place to hang, I guess you probably put a cap on your chimney?

They are chimney swifts, when nesting places are scarce they resort to chimneys. Only one family will nest, a season, so we'll just leave them alone in the Spring. But make sure the fireplace is closed
+Martha Akers We have swifts in our chimney, here in Wisconsin. I get them every year and just love them! They love to chat with each other at night. My wife and I are building a house with several, huge, uncapped chimneys so hopefully they will pick us, again.
Thanks for being kind to them and showing them back outside. Honestly, we had an exterminator come over to figure out what they were when we first bought our house. The babies were in there, and if you have them, oh you know. We thought they were angry bats. We just had no idea. They turned out to be our best "bird buddies." It's our favorite part of spring when they show up, but the saddest time here in August when they leave. Ours had like 3-4 babies and just left last week. We're pretty bummed.
