Yo. I'm not worried about the Panzer Dragoon hook up. But I will tell you this, I just bought your 32x book off Amazon. I love your content. I, too, owned a 32x, a Saturn, and a Dreamcast.
Thank you very much for the video!! There is a secret code when you finish the game on Hard mode with extras :) (you need to finish it on HM in order for the code to work, otherwise you won't have access to it) We are gathering the feedback to update the game with tweaks and some new cool stuff like gyro aiming :)
Question: Will the PC version still have the option to listen to the original soundtrack? I hear that a remix of the games OST is going to be patched in?
Hi forever Entertainment, I bought the game and love it so far. I think it's an artistic masterpiece in it's own right. It's a beautiful journey with an amazing soundtrack and I would like to thank you for making this remake possible. I'm an experienced senior digital / visual designer and would like to give you some feedback based on my area of expertise. It would be excellent if the following could be added into the options for people to chose to be on or off. These will also help improve the overall reception and score the game receives from critics and users since people love options and choices. 1. There is a short delay when hitting the L and R buttons to rotate the camera. It feels like input delay. If this delay is due to it being in the original game then it would be great to have an option to adjust the delay time. Original / Fast. Something like this. This is important for gameplay since later levels require quick turning of the camera to shoot the bad guys coming from different directions. 2. An option to switch off the game HUD. Pro players and people who want to experience the spectacle of the game in all it's glory don't need to see how much player or enemy health is left. Classic games like Donkey Kong Country made clever use of the HUD in which if was only ever on screen when it had to be. This allows the wonderful visuals of the game to fill the entire screen space helping give the game a memorable and artistic / cinematic aesthetic. Almost like a statement saying; "This is more than just a game. " 3. Can we get an option for original sound effects and original dragon voice? For the old time fans ;) 4. The cursor is a bit weird and distracting as it is behind the dragon. In the original game the cursor is 3D and in front of the dragon which benefits the gameplay as well as the overall visual aesthetic. Also and option to switch it off entirely. For the pro players. 5. Can we get to change the control options in the in game pause menu? 6. In the CGI cutscenes I don't think it's necessary to have "Press B to skip" in the bottom right corner. If people are impatient and want to skip the cutscenes they will figure it out by mashing every button. 7. The dragon bobs around maybe a little bit too much compare to the original . Once again, for the old fans maybe the dragon can be a bit more of a smoother flyer? I would really appreciate if you could take note of my suggestions, I sincerely believe they will benefit the game greatly.
Yes they do...was wondering why it looked so crappy in the intro to this video...but realized it was the Saturn version...I played Orta on the Xbox one which I think makes it look even better
Orta still holds up really well. It's one of the best looking rail shooters on the original xbox so I am hoping that we will get an eventual remake of it.
I bought game immediately. No regrets as I was a fan of the originals. However, why is this game not 60fps? No reason it can't do 60fps on the Switch. It looks great but not graphically taxing.
I was always a Nintendo kid growing up, and my friends who had Sega systems never had it. But I remember seeing this game and wishing and praying for it to come on Nintendo. Finally at 42yrs of age I finally get to play it. Regardless of how short it is, it will be part of my library. Thanks for the review fair and honest as always, BZ! Keep up the good work.
Comment from July 2022: I was a Sega Saturn owner, and let me tell you that those 90’s consoles always came with demos and one or two games along the hardware. I loved the Panzer Dragoon demo, and the fact that there is a mega discount on this game at the eShop, less than $3… C’mon! It is a steal! Also, the reason why this game is short is because the Saturn was still adopting the “Beat the game in one sitting” mentality. Many shooter games were like that.
$2.99 on eshop the other day I got it for $1,50 ..... I loved Panzer Dragoon Orta an really would love to see a remake of that one . Honestly it still looks gorgeous today , they did some serious grafix voodoo on the OG Xbox back then. This game is fun it's a Nostalgia shot in the arm . We need a Panzer Draggon action RPG open world riding dragons and kicking butt with good story amd atmosphere.
I no lifed it on the Saturn...got 100% hit rate on every level, then again on hard mode, to unlock a special ending (no new cutscenes, it was literally just a congratulations screen). I don't think I could do that again, I don't have that kind of patience these days.
I loved the original one, but never got a chance to beat it back in the day. I just recently got a Switch a little over a week ago so I am definitely entering this contest to have the chance to nab myself a classic to help grow my new Switch collection! Good Review as well, makes it kind of hard for me not to wait until the contest is over to nab it haha.
I feel like SS Panzer Dragoon kind of had a feel to it. Using technical hardware limitations as an advantage by using it as apart of its aesthetic. The Switch update got rid of that aesthetic. Now it looks like an XBox 360 rerelease of the Original XBox Panzer Dragoon Games.
Bought it during the Direct and I've loved playing through it on Switch. Panzer Dragoon Zwei is still in my top 5 games I've ever played and this whilst a little more basic is still great fun and with one of the very best soundtracks every. Ironically I actually bought the Saturn version the day before this released so I'll get to play that soon and I'm going to buy the Retro Bit Saturn pad to play this on Switch 😁
As a kid every time I went to the local game store I would have a specific game I wanted, then see Panzer Dragoon and be extremely tempted. Never bought it. Hope to one day own a real copy eventually but this seems like a faithful version
I can't wait to get it I never thought I was going to be able to play Panzer Dragoon on a current gen system. Great vid keep the entertainment coming during this trying time.
@@TheDreadedZero Not true. If you actually play all games, Zwei, Saga and Orta, you will realise how rich the game is in terms of lore and story. Much richer than starfox. And fun fact, at the core of the lore are current themes such as climate change, believe it or not. Try to visit panzer dragoon legacy, once you go down the rabbit hole, there is no turning back xD

I'm currently playing Disc 3 of Panzer Dragoon Saga during the lockdown. I kept thinking how amazing a PDS remake with this updated graphics style would be!
Please no. They butchered Panzer Dragoon original Art Direction with this remake. I would like them to stay as far away as possible from Panzer Dragoon Saga.
Rgt as a fan, I miss the almost screaming and out of breath way you commented in your older videos. I agree with the comment below you sound like a student reading a story at school. None the less thanks for putting out new content while it’s still new, unlike beat em ups 😂😂.
I decided yesterday to buy a physical copy of the game which I did a few hours ago. I can't wait! I also absolutely loved Orta, and how sweet was it back then on Xbox that you ended up unlocking the whole first game! On the Xbox One replayed it just for the unlock, although then I didn't continue xD.... For some reason though, the spiritual successor didn't catch me as the predecessors. I know I ended up basically paying twice the digital price, but I like the physical aspect and love to support this title, hoping they remaster/remake the later ones as well. Go Sega and Go Panzer Dragoon!
Dude, on a personal level I'd like to thank you for the years of entertaining yet informative content. Which has got me through some really rough times. I doubt you'll see this but I just wanted to thank you for all the awesome work. You've inspired me to pursue UA-cam.
I loved my Sega Saturn years as I felt like I was in an odd underground club playing these oddities while everyone else was gaming on the PS1. I miss those days. I’m going to wait for the physical release of this game so I can resell after I beat it.
For sure it’s a must buy. We’re blessed to even get something from the ancient vaults dug up and given the royal treatment as is, put some gratitude in your attitude, people! May they give us many more!
I always envied the kids who could play it back in the day, because i didnt own a Saturn, but i soaked up all the PR and news articles about the game. Gonna get this 100% - especially after your review. Thanks. :D
Thanks for the review. I had played this a long time ago on the Saturn and had played the second as well as Orta for the Xbox, but really forgot how fun it was. Thanks for the reminder and can’t wait for the physical copy to become available. On a side note would love to see Sega or even this company remaster Jet Grind Radio and the Crazy Taxi series.
Just saw it the physical copy at Best Buy for $30. I decided to google it, found your video and that it was on sale on the eshop for $6.25. That is worth it I think.
Nah. Saturn had a couple great games. Also, Sega said they would be moving on to the Dreamcast like a week after it came out. So, not sure how you can consider it underrated. I think it's pretty highly overrated by most Sega fans.
Great video, man! Your Sega passion shines through! Can't wait to get my hands on the LRG classic edition. Until then, I'll just have to get by on my original Saturn copy.
It's a must buy. It's a work of art! And the devs are listening to the fans and are gonna be improving it with patches. And the remastered music is also scheduled to drop! This series deserves all the support it can get. The switch doesn't really have a game like this so it's great to see something different for a change.
I've always liked Panzer Dragoon I and II. Glad they are both getting remade. One is currently available for the Switch as a timed exclusive. Much like the Spyro Reignited and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy were when they first released. Meaing we'll have to wait for it to be released on other platforms.
I remember playing this game. It was a bonus feature in Panzer Dragoon Orta on Xbox. It was fun... but double speed was REALLY FUN. I'm sad the remake doesn't have those codes (that we know of).
I'm also a huge fan of this series (I own all of the Saturn games). I also tried the "modern" controls and could just not get them to work. The Switch Pro controller's triggers are just not suited to shooting rapidly. And the game was designed around the classic controls (the remake does not change the game design at all). Hopefully we get ports of 2, Saga, and Orta to have the entire series in one place. If Panzer Dragoon Saga gets a Switch port, I may actually sell my complete copy of the Saturn version since it's worth so much now.
Some are legit, but others are nitpicky and weird. They are dealing with many of the criticisms in a patch, so I imagine many of the issues get addressed. I still think the original is far better, but it's still a fun time - especially for fans of rails shooters.
I think GameXplain expected a 9 or 10 out of 10 game, like the original at the time. From what critics say, this game is a solid 7/10. And while I don't agree with GameXplain, I think I understand why it was disappointing for them.
Gamexplain doesn't realize that graphics aren't everything, if the game doesn't have the greatest visuals but is still really fun does it matter that the graphics don't look so good
GameXplain is speaking the truth. This guy is talking a lot of crap. There is a lot wrong with the game that he is ignoring. Seems to me he was paid off by Forever Entertainment to big up the game.
Hey great video thank very much for making this. I’ve pre ordered the classic edition from limited run and won’t be buying the digital version so this is very helpful as your videos always are !
Interestingly the remakes (both this one and that for Zwei) got announced in December 2018 already but it completely flew under the radar. E3 2019 was the first time we saw it in action but it didn't get announced there, technically.
Is a must buy for me but sadly I'll wait for the physical version since I'm a collector but would love to get my hands on that code so I don't have to wait for the physical to play it.
I never owned the Sega Saturn or an Xbox so I didn't play the original panzer dragoon nor orta, but I do want to try this out. I ended up pre ordering a copy from limited run games as well as a copy of streets of rage 4
This is a must buy for me! Ive never played this, but I love retro games, especially the ones I missed on their original release. The price is indeed an issue though, if it is as short as you say :/
I own the originals on the Sega Saturn and even to this day still play them through on my Sony CRT TV I was so excited to play this version and I am glad one of my favourite games of all time got a remake but even after the up dates It feels like the game was made by a team who never actually played the original better game. The graphics are reasonable but the small changes made to the dragons and colour pallet don't look right. The original dragon was streamlined with smaller slimmer legs and a cry that made you feel some emotion in the opening cut scene. I wanted to like this game but it still doesn't feel right in the aiming and controll department either. The only collectors edition is still the original version on the Saturn or the version that unlocks in Panza dragoon Orta on the xbox 360 when you complete it. Fingers crossed for the next game.
On rail shooters have never been long games. The environments and stages are extremely big, but because you are normally moving through the stage at a fast and consistent speed, the stages don't last very long. 25$ is a fair price. For comparison Star Fox 64 takes about 5-7 hours to complete the main quest and extras.
I think i'll give a try. 😎👍 I was confused because some game channels like GameXplain just start to nittpicking the game, and killed my hopes for playing the game. But thanks to your honest review, I'll give it a try. Thanks RGT85 👏👏
Coming into this year, the only two games I knew I was going to buy day 1 sure were Xenoblade, and Panzer Dragoon. When they announced it was available immediately that direct, I went straight to the eshop & bought it. Great surprise. I've really liked the job they did with it, though I did have to do a lot of tweaking to the controls to make them usable. They were a little _too_ responsive.
*sigh* you’ve reminded me of when I sold my Saturn, including Panzer Dragoon, Panzer Dragoon 2, and complete boxed Panzer Dragoon Saga for £100. If I had that now, I don’t know how much it all would be worth.
Great review Shawn! I was an early Saturn owner and die hard Sega nerd! I always wanted to get my hands on some of the Panzer Dragoon games but the selection of Saturn titles in my home town was abysmal. I may pick this up because well Sega and I won't stress about the length of the game because well that's how many Sega games are anyway.
I still have my Saturn along with this game and its sequel but I haven't played them in years. I bought the Remake on Steam today and I definitely think it's worth it, the visuals look beautiful but the game still suffers from wonky aiming and stiff controls in parts or maybe I'm just bad at it who knows. Either way if you like this series like me I would recommend this. Hope they Remake Panzer Dragoon Orta next because that one is my favourite.
The beauty of those old Saturn (this one included) games is that if you popped the disk into a CD player you could actually listen to the soundtrack too!
I think it's a great remake overall. Looking forward to the upcoming patches and tweaks the devs have promised. Great video and thanks for looking at the game in a positive light. Top man!
Love your videos RGT 85 but I'll be honest, I miss the Arcade 1 Up machines in the background. I realize you've got to do what's best for your channel but it felt more inviting when it wasn't green screened.
Was sitting on the fence on whether to buy this digital or physical. However I ended out getting the digital copy for a few reasons. First is doing to the current $ to £ echange physical is literally twice the price, secondly the amount of patches coming for this game( fixes, remastered soundtrack, gyro controls, etc) means the physical version is probably going to be too incomplete.
Oh, didn't know that it's already out. Sucks that the physical version is, again, locked behind this limited games BS, that only plays into the hands of scalpers and hopes for fast sales even before people can read up on if the game is worth it. Anti-customer BS! Preorder and limited editions should die in a fire. If people want more then ffs make more, even if you do it in waves. People that are buying games not to play them but in hopes of selling them for a profit are scum and everyone else won't care if more copies are being made. "I don't want others to have a chance for an educated purchase because I wan't my copy to be rare and get expensive!"

I always envied the kids who could play it back in the day, because i didnt own a Saturn, but i soaked up all the PR and news articles about the game. Gonna get this 100% - especially after your review. Thanks. :D
I think it looks ok lengthwise, shmups tend to be short so their replay value comes from mastery of the game and chasing high scores

Yeah same, I just bought Doom 64
@@totoro5874 I bought doom eternal and got 64 for free
Same
Game should of been 15 bucks you can beat it in an hour
How about levels and etc as dlc
We need a SEGA RALLY remake!
I was enough to get this game for $ 39.99 U.S. dollars at bestbuy
Love Panzer Dragoon and SEGA. The Panzer Dragoon track in Sonic All-star racing transformed is really good too!
Just saw it the physical copy at Best Buy for $30. I decided to google it, found your video and that it was on sale on the eshop for $6.25. That is worth it I think.
I’m looking forward to my copy of this and Streets of Rage 4 from Limited Run Games.
Excellent review as always Sean 😎
Is the classic control scheme playable with the Retro Bit Saturn Controller?
Hey man thumbs up for dropping the Samuel L Jackson routine and for staying objective despite your love of the originals.
I always loved Sega...SEGA!!!!
Saturn was awesome! Highly underrated
$25 is too much for me for less than 2 hours of gameplay.
Maybe someday on sale.
I got it for $6 id say it’s worth it
I'd really like it if we also got Bug and Clockwork Knight 1 & 2
Thank you for reviewing this game. I am a huge fan of the original on Saturn. I am looking forward to playing the new one.
Oh yeah... Orta, on the OG Xbox was gorgeous! Even more so now on Xbox compatibility mode.... :-)
I ordered the special limited run version as well.
The story is simple but the lore of the Panzer Dragoon series is so rich
I'm totally conflicted now. What are your thoughts on GameXplain's criticisms??
Some are legit, but others are nitpicky and weird. They are dealing with many of the criticisms in a patch, so I imagine many of the issues get addressed. I still think the original is far better, but it's still a fun time - especially for fans of rails shooters.
I think GameXplain expected a 9 or 10 out of 10 game, like the original at the time.
From what critics say, this game is a solid 7/10. And while I don't agree with GameXplain, I think I understand why it was disappointing for them.
GameXplain's worst review video ever. Totally wrong. I'm a longtime Saturn PD player, and I'm loving the remake.
I love the background music better than the last one I heard you use. Just that last background song really bugged me IDK
Always nice to see reviews from a like-minded Sega fan.
Had this on the Saturn, will get this now as soon as i can!!!
I ordered the physical first thing this morning the game was a big part of my childhood and did I hear right there going to do the 2nd. Cool
Pre-ordered physical copy from Limited Run this morning! Super Pumped!
I never owned the Sega Saturn or an Xbox so I didn't play the original panzer dragoon nor orta, but I do want to try this out. I ended up pre ordering a copy from limited run games as well as a copy of streets of rage 4
ladynikkie gotta play orta too it’s not too expensive
This is a must buy for me! Ive never played this, but I love retro games, especially the ones I missed on their original release. The price is indeed an issue though, if it is as short as you say :/
Nice to know my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga may go down or up in price
Now I want another remake of Sin & Punishment
I put this game on my wish list. I always wanted this game my brother had a Saturn and never let me play it.
Is he saying “reticule”? Instead of reticle?
Done and sent you a fb message dont know why people keep expecting a remake when its a remaster
I own the originals on the Sega Saturn and even to this day still play them through on my Sony CRT TV
I was so excited to play this version and I am glad one of my favourite games of all time got a remake but even after the up dates
It feels like the game was made by a team who never actually played the original better game.
I was confused because some game channels like GameXplain just start to nittpicking the game, and killed my hopes for playing the game.
But thanks to your honest review, I'll give it a try.
Thanks RGT85 👏👏
An auto fire function would've been a welcome addition.
I didn’t know they made this on the switch I happened to see it on Amazon two days ago I bought it and now it’s in my switch right now.
I wish I had the money you have to piss away on games like this RGT 85. Having unlimited funds to buy anything you want must be awesome!
I can't believe I didn't hear a single complaint about the bouncing dragon. Which was the biggest complaint I read elsewhere.
I just came back to this post to say that this is on sale right now for 6.74 on the eshop and that seems like a damn steal.
Absolutely love that background music. Any idea where I can find it and also similar playlists full of tunes like it?
The beauty of those old Saturn (this one included) games is that if you popped the disk into a CD player you could actually listen to the soundtrack too!
Panzer dragoon is available for preorder at limited run games!
This makes me want a Sin and Punishment 2 remake on the Switch
00:45 nice editing transition!
Fingers crossed for the ultimate DLC pack: PANZER DRAGOON KART RACER!
Or: Panzer Dragoon vs. Robot Unicorn Attack
i have never played panzer dragoon but looking forward to doing so
I think it's a great remake overall.
Great vid bro, I also bought the Classic edition. We Sega!!! 😎
