I purchased the champagne 36, last week and could not be happier.
The dial is fantastic. Once in a while it pops of silver. Champagne color comes to life under lower lights like when at a bar or restaurant at night. This watch subtly shouts quality and class.

Love that you're giving the measurement across the dial! Underrated dimension that helps on these models with a narrow bezel.

Omega finishing is next level. So you pay for what you get. Dimenions both are perfect. Micro adj on Tudor bracelet is great. That said omega did a great job with the bracelet of aquaterra shades . It is very comfortable even without a micro adjustment.
I tried blue Black bay 36 and omega shades several times and finally choose omega as it fits perfect with rest of my collection.

I have this Tudor (in 41). It’s amazing, slimmer than the AT, better second hand sweep, and better bracelet with T-fit. Cheaper too.

Does "everything" include thickness, legibility and lume ?
The Omega has a better mechanism but it's not a better watch and it's definitely not worth 2 of those Tudors.

Same. I was in between these two and went to an AD to try both on. The Aqua Terra looks sooooo much better in person that it’s not even a fair comparison. It’s on a whole other Level than the Tudor tbh. Even the bracelet looks much better on the Omega. Tudor has just one advantage and thats the micro adjustment.

I'm interested in both of these watches and have tried both on (though not in these colors). Both are appealing. The Omega, as you show, is more substantial, finished to a higher standard, and has a more conservative look. I like being able to see the movement through the back. The Tudor is sportier, playful even, despite the absence of the curved "smile text" of the previous generation.
I'd really like to see the Omega in Saffron-do you think you'll have a chance to show us that one?

On the fly bracelet adjustment is a must for me. My wrist changes size a lot during the day especially in hot weather. The AT will always be a pass for me because of that. The new BB36 is nice, but a little boring to me. Also a little too close to a Datejust rip off now. I’d go with a newer Tudor diver with a T-Fit clasp over both of these, though not really the same thing.

Really nice comparison. The minute hand on the Tudor makes it look more old style, almost like the end of the 1970s, and at least in the quick lume shot shines brighter. It's very nice. The Omega looks more expensive, shinier, more polished and has the Co-axial movement. I guess you get what you pay for.

Great comparison and overall the Tudor is the best option IMO. Hard to beat the bracelet of the Tudor with the micro-adjust. Not sure why the aqua terra costs so much, and more than even a SM 300 Pro.

  • @AndrewIsbell
    @AndrewIsbell Рік тому +3

The best value is 1st generation Aqua terra. It comes in either 36mm or 39mm. It can have a silver dial like this. It is 10mm thick so thinner than the new aqua terra because it uses the 2500 co-axial movement. It is matte finished not polished which I prefer. You can get one for $2,000 if you are a savvy watch enthusiast which is a much better value than either of these two watches. I have a black dial reference 2504.50. Buying these new models is for non-enthusiasts and casual watch wearers and they will pay the extra money. An enthusiast will be able to find the better value first generation Aqua Terra.

Not a fan of the Tudor's indicators and hands on such an elegant color scheme/polish; they scream "diver watch" a bit too much IMO.

This was a great compare and contrast, as I'm sure some in the market have been thinking about it already. I love the Co-Axial movement in Omega, but I can't get over how much more masculine the BB looks with its sharper lines on case and bracelet, and the blockiness of its hands and indices. And then that $2700+ price diff.... ouch! When they look to be about the same finish quality on camera 🤷. But then again...that co-axial movement 🥰

Nice one Brad: aesthetically the Omega just wins for me. But: the Tudor also looks great, has better lume and has a much better bracelet. It's also considerably cheaper and you could buy a Seiko ProSpex or Presage model with the change. But: I do love a display case back and a date window is a functional advantage.
I'd probably buy the Tudor and wish that I'd bought the Omega in the first place. Or maybe I'd learn from my mistake in the making and buy a Rolex OP 36 silver dial instead.
And imagine: I used to be decisive... 😢

These watches play in two different tiers. A datejust or Explorer would be a better comparison. Omega is the better built watch.
But i would prefer the Tudor. I have a new Tudor BB 41 grey dial and its a perfect GADA watch.
I had a few Aqua Terras, actually several of them. No quick adjust is a deal breaker for me living in Florida. I have a IWC XX i just picked up and the quick adjust on IWC is the best in the biz.
Omega still doesn't have one for the Aqua Terra is maddening when they know their competition have them, and their customers want them.
