The shorter hair at your nape looks just fine. In fact, I know many people who have long hair who shave the nape of their neck. It's probably just that you are not used to seeing it but trust me it looks perfectly fine and a lot of people that have their long bio hair purposely cut it short like yours.
I like the occasional chats- it's like an update from an old friend :) Yesterday was the first time I got caught outside without a cap or wig on my head, in the backyard by a male neighbor. I was wearing ugly PJ's too, LOL, while taking the dog out. I came inside and told myself that I don't care. I do, and I don't - depends on the moment of the day. But it's a step forward for me in just relaxing a little bit about my hairloss journey.
Oh my gosh, did your heart skip a beat??? I totally understand that sometimes you do and sometimes you don't... I am SOOOOO that way. Big hugs to you! ❤️
America’s sweetheart! That’s you! The first time I buzzed my hair, I showed my daughter, and she said, “now you can start a go fund me page because everyone will think you have cancer. I don’t like to go outside with my very very short here. But I’m so used to it around the house that sometimes I forget. It’s all OK! Your videos are always great. I have the low neckline hair, too. All of the Hair that I’ve Purchased blends right in, so it’s not much of a problem. If you know anyone who is looking for a gray wig, let me know. I would be happy to give some of mine away. Thanks so much, beautiful lady! You take care.❤️🌹
❤️❤️❤️ - Jude, I can't remember, are you on Facebook? The Facebook Group Sister to Sister Blessed with Hair to Share is a great place to give wigs away.... I know there are lots of women who could use a gray wig but I don't really have a list of them that I can just reach out to :) . I'm always happy to give some away in the FB group for you as well, just let me know.
Thanks, Denise, for all of your videos. You gave me the courage to buzz my hair. It makes wig wearing so much easier. All the years of built up hair color is gone. My life is so much easier.
Your videos are ALWAYS helpful, regardless of content. They obviously come from your sweet, sweet heart, love, compassion for others, and a deep desire to make the world a better place. We all struggle with things in this world. You care enough to take the time to share your journey with anyone who chooses to watch and listen. I know you have touched many lives in ways you may never know. You do make a difference. Want you to know that even though we live on opposite ends of the country, I've got your back, sweet friend. ❤
You asked if we enjoy your videos or if they are helpful? The answer to both questions is a resounding YES! You are very relatable. I never get the feeling that, well she’s so much more comfortable and knowledgeable than I’ll ever be with wigs or hair loss, etc. What I get is someone who is deeply passionate about helping her sisters navigate what is truly a land mine loaded road of insecurity and anxiety about hair loss and what others will think. I know, without ever meeting you in person, that this journey is personal to you and that you genuinely want to help. Thank you!
Oh my gosh, you made me cry. Seriously. It IS deeply personal to me!! And my heart hurts so badly for women who are struggling and feel they can never overcome the damage that hair loss has caused them.... truly. I just want to make it easier and show them what has worked for me and to keep learning so I can keep doing that. Thank you THANK YOU for seeing me!!!
I just watched one of those videos you mentioned. I got up and cut my hair off! I did leave my bangs, temple and sideburns and length around back. I love mono caps with no lace so I can incorporate my hair . And I believe that the back length has prevented wigs from tangling at the nape, as this has never been an issue! But all the rest is 1/4” long! I’m excited! It was so easy to wash and dry! I think you convinced me when you said that the head is like Velcro, keeping wigs in place! Thanks!
Loved Loved this!! ❤️ So many thoughts running through my head! First that blonde looks soo cute on you 😍. I’ve buzzed my hair twice now in the last few months. It’s a shock every time when I look in the mirror. I have more bare spots than hair now. I still never walk around with my head uncovered, even in front of my husband. He has no idea how much of my hair is gone. I feel like I need a bigger medical reason for it to be acceptable and ok that I’ve lost my hair. The world around me would accept it more. But...I’m trying to learn to accept this and have more faith it will be ok. I feel hopeful and grateful when I see your posts. You shine a wonderful bright light on this hair journey that can be so dark and scary. ❤️❤️
My dr still doesn’t know why for my hair loss and I also have hair loss spots I look like a Dalmatian so I ware wigs and hats and my husband buzzed mine so I would stop crying
Thanks so much for your update! It's so good to see these kind of talks from wigsisters... it's so lovely to see someone going through the same experiences. I have no one around me in my life who is going through it, and dealing with it in the same way I do. With buzzing and wigs and all. And walking through the yard and the house with a buzzed head. One comment: your neighbor... I wish she wouldn't have asked your daughter but instead she should have asked you directly. She obviously didn't mean anything bad but it's so not ok to me to ask a child if her mom has cancer... :-/
Love it! I buzzed mine about a year ago and love it too! I have a 'donut', almost completely bald on top and very very thin all around and it is all white now. I did leave some long 'sideburns' so when I wear my gray wigs I can tuck the wig behind ears using my little sideburns. When I wear a blonde or rooted wig, I just tuck the sideburns under my wig grip. I do wear a ball cap when I go outside and do yard work or sit on the front porch. That's mostly because I'm not quite comfy yet being around people I don't know with no cap on. Just wanted to share that! Lord bless you dear one! xoxoxo
Denise- I really do enjoy all your videos. There hasn't been one yet that I haven't found helpful or informative. Sometimes its nice to just hear someone else talk and realize they have the same thoughts or worries as myself.
Thank you for sharing. When i finally realized my hair was to thin to cover up I went to a beautician. She cut my hair short and styled it but i didnt like seeing my scalp. So, I started wearing wigs. This was right before the pandemic. When it got hot out I had to order a short cooler wig. Even the cooler one was hot so I did shave my head. I dont like seeing my head now and I won't let anyone else see it uncovered but it does help keep me cooler. I have a bunch of wigs now that I really like and people tell me they can't tell its wigs. They say it looks natural. I dont think ill let my hair grow back. It is more comfortable short.
Understanding the Buzz issue..my hair is so so much the same as yours..I buzz mine now and I do keep the temples and the front side longer. It does help with the more natural look with those hair pulled out from the wig in the front. The nape i can go without , I typically only do a low up do..if at all and the shorter wigs, well my nape tends to grow low on to the neck so buzz it off... Love that you are doing the videos on this... my daughter did a shocker moment when I showed her my buzz, but I think now she is more understanding the purpose. and She used to be a teacher in hairdressing ...lol... ...Blessings to All with hair loss!
You know, it can be just as hard for our families as it is for us (well, maybe not JUST as hard... but they experience something as well). I'm so glad that she has come around!!! HUGS to you!
Whenever I see you've posted something, I get excited. I love watching your videos, and I thoroughly enjoy your chats. You are oh-so-real and your mission to share your journey really shines when you just start talking with us. As for the particularly long side nape hair, why not buzz/shave those areas? I don't buzz my head, but I feel better keeping that area mowed (lol). Makes wig updo/pony life easier. Also, for sideburn expansion, using scissors to thin while keeping length is something to keep in mind. Peaceful weekend, girlfriend. xo
I feel the same way about your videos. I still have to work, but I have a big ZERO for socializing outside of what I watch online, or having conversations over the phone. Thankful for you Denise, and all the others who continue to post and motivate me and everyone else. If I was your neighbor, I wouldn’t have asked about cancer, I would have asked “how’d you get all those beautiful styles”, and invite you over so we could become best friends!! Lol!!😂🤣☺️
I finally came out of the wig closet on my UA-cam channel and it was definitely freeing! I haven’t on Facebook because I have a lot of colleagues there and that makes me nervous for some reason. It’s definitely a process. Thanks for this chat, Denise 💜
Denise! Holy macaroni I have the exact same sides and lower head as you do! I was torn with the same issue! You know how I solved it! I just shave the hair on the back of my neck and lower head off. It’s amazing what a difference makes! Also I use a #2 and 1 blade when buzzing. I tried the having the longer sides and it just wasn’t working for me. You are my muse and we’re pivotal in giving me the courage to buzz my hair off even though I did it before you. You were the first one I sent that photo to. As far as the cancer issue...I must be honest...I had people ..strangers mind you, ask me If I had csncer🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. I just wanted to share how I solved that problem! I ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ your videos and you have literally saved my life💋
Oh my gosh, Kathleen! You have no idea how much you help me when you share your experiences. I remember when you sent me that picture, I was SO INSPIRED!! Honestly, it is one of the things that gave ME courage! We are so much alike! ❤️
Darlin, your braver than I am...i don't even want to go out side to water my flowers ...unless I put on my raggedy outside wig. You go girl! I still buzz my hair, and yes its so freeing!
Love your honesty, especially on personal or touchy subjects for women and their hair journey. What better way for us all to learn than with a "sister" that can share her experience - so valuable! I'm not to a buzz stage, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have thought about the nape grow-out. Great job Densise!
Thanks, Tami! This is exactly why I had to share it! So many people have said my buzzing video has helped them decide to go for it, so I just wanted to make sure people knew this new learning of mine so they could take it into consideration.
Love your wig chats Denise! I buzzed my head about the same time you did❤️. Then during quarantine, on a whim, I shaved it!🤪 Now I have settled on shaved sides and one inch or so on top and back so my wig clips hold my wig in tight. Kinda edgy looking 🤩. I've gone with nothing quite a bit this summer. With temperatures close to 90 with 80% humidity, I just couldn't do it!🔥🔥 I just wear big earrings and lots of makeup and go with it. Yep, the older I get the less I care! 😂🤣 Love ya Denise!
Oh my gosh I bet it looks AWESOME!! Now that winter is coming I am going to try some different things and see how it goes... maybe next summer I'll be back to full on buzz cut. So much nicer on hot days, isn't it??
It does look like your bio hair is the color of the root. I ALWAYS enjoy your videos and they make me feel better about my journey. And.... I love your top.
When my balding spots became too noticeable , I had my haircut into a very short pixie by my hairdresser. Now since I’m still in lockdown, had my daughter buzz it down to the skin with electric clippers. Now I don’t have to worry about my sideburns and nape peaking though. She hand cut the rest really short, but I can spike into a trendy style and go wig less without any more asking if I’m sick. Just do what ever you feel comfortable with, and if it still bothers you buzz it. After all it’s only hair that will grow back in a few short months. 💕😊❗️
I recently buzzed my hair and am also super happy with the decision. I kept the temples long for blending purposes and just tuck those pieces behind my ears when not wearing a wig around the house. The only options I can suggest for the back would be to shave the parts that stick out in the back (I have long sections that come down from my nape and shave those) or pull the wig down further on the nape and use adhesive to keep it below your hairline. Best of luck to you! You were the inspiration for my buzz!!!
Thank you so much for your suggestions.... I think I am going to do just that... grow the temple hair out and shave the low hairline... the upkeep on that is what makes me pause. I am all about easy and low maintenance, lol. That's why I LOVE synthetic wigs!
YES DENISE!!!! Please continue the chats!! They make a difference and we are listening. I'm still on the fence about the buzz.... just not ready yet..... but all that you share is so helpful!! These are things I've not thought of so thank you, thank you and thank you;)
I'm so glad it was helpful! Every time I get asked by someone how it is going and if I regret it, or every time someone shares with me their struggle, I know how important it is to be honest and share ALL the information, good and bad. Big hugs on your journey with this. ❤️
Hi Denise, I can’t believe it’s 8 months since you did the 1st video of buzzing your hair! I can understand where you are coming from , you explain it very well. The blonde Jackson tied back in a pony looks so natural & very summery. You suit so many styles & colours but we always want that little bit extra some times. Keep working on it & play around with the longer hair to get maybe a messy up do 🤔 Could you do a low twist & then clip it with a claw grip? You could up do then use a scarf headband to cover your nape hair? I’m sure you will come up with something...a creative young lady like you 😉 Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it very much. Take care, keep safe. Lynda 🌻xx
I love that you share these things that I think in my head!! I buzz-well I have bn for couple years. While at home I don’t wear anything(love me or leave me lol!!!). So, being a nurse, I couldn’t continue to wear wigs for a couple of reasons, and I had no idea what to do! This is the first time I had to deal w/this phase of buzzing. So fortunately for me, I saw another nurse with a scrub cap, and I couldn’t tell if she had hair or not! I have also allowed the sideburns to grow (they’re thin), but continue to buzz the rest, and I shave my neck, it’s a personal preference bc it sometimes doesn’t look as neat as I want it to if I don’t shave it. Honestly, it’s been fine. My little curls stick out around my cap just at side burns, and I am able to wear the proper PPE w/o a care. Just my experience... I like that color on you, but I ❤️ the golden brown highlighted wigs, they just look as if they were made for you! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I love this... I find your experience very helpful as I think about my own journey. THANK YOU for your sacrifice as a nurse, I am so appreciative of you and all our front line workers!
I love your chats. I also miss your longer videos. I think you are awesome! Such a beautiful person inside and out. Keep up the great videos. I appreciate you so much. God bless you and your family. Merry Christmas, sweet spirit!
Thanks Denise I am losing my hair due to Thyroid disease and you give me such good support on the struggles and advice about these wigs and possible buzzing !!!
Big hugs, Sarah! I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease in the early 2000s and suffered with it for about 10 years... then suddenly, it went into remission and I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and that is what I live with today. I hope you are doing OK.
@@heywigsister Boy I sure know the ups and downs with those effects.. I had half of the thyroid removed and the other side still had nodules that seem to be growing so. Yes I still suffer and cry because I had such beautiful hair that I was so proud of and now I feel like an old lady😒😒 I am very glad yours is stable.. GOD BLESS and again thank you for what you do... 👍🏻
thank you for doing this topic. .. And you know I was laughing when you mentioned your neighbors. I love you to see your video's outside. No matter what, we always look to she who' maybe watching,, You have so much courage. I' still struggle to ware mine out.
Lol 😆 it’s insane how I’m always thinking about that if I step out in the backyard, or even if I sneak out at night to throw something out or get the mail. Even though I know I’m probably the only one who cares.
Thank you. Would love to hear an update if your husband feels comfortable sharing that you wear wigs or not and how he feels with you being so open with your hair loss.
Hi, Darcie. My husband is totally all in with me and super supportive. He loves it when I change up the styles (even though he still doesn't love long wigs or super short wigs on me, or straight wigs, lol... he accepts them all).
since i came to terms with having to wear wigs, you have been my go to person. everything you share seems pertinent to me. I still struggle to make myself put that wig on but your encouraging words are helpful. i have come to think of you as my friend. thank you. i can only use my right hand to put on my wig and was wondering if you have any suggestions on how i can put it on without having parts of the sides getting tucked in. i have metastatic breast cancer of the nerves in my left shoulder. it is important for me to feel better about myself and I'm hoping wigs will do that. keep on sharing yourself with us. 🤗
Hi, Shirley! Thank you so very much, I'm so so glad that I can be helpful. I would like to understand your question a bit better. I practiced putting my wig on with just my right hand... what is it that you are experiencing when you do it? I'd be happy to make a video on this, or chat with you via email, or even video chat with you via messenger. Let me know what works for you... my email is heywigsister@gmail.com or I am Denise Dancik Sheets on Facebook. Big hugs and prayers for your cancer journey. Wigs CAN help you feel better about yourself, absolutely!
I really really like these chats. They help me to think through some things that sometimes I might not have thought of. My problem with my hair and the coverage is I also have a really low hairline. My big problem is the frizzy hair right in front of my ears. It's coarse and kinky. It's not like that anywhere else, but my mom had that problem too. I just bought some fill-in powder. I'm going to see if that helps. Thete are many stages of growingout your hair from buzzed. Bald was definitely easier. One of the side effects of one of my chemotherapy drugs was permanent hair loss. 🙁 But zGod brought me through!1😁
Hugs, Laura. I love hearing that you have not just given up and you keep on trying. I have found the fill in powder does help... the hair at my temples is a bit different in texture as well. Let me know how it goes!
You are just a blessing! I have been struggling so much with shaving my head. I want to for the freedom however worry about it affecting my loved ones, even though they are 100% supportive. I guess i am using this hair as a crutch per say. Anyway, ty so much for videos like this, they are appreciated and they are truly needed.
Oh gosh, I get that. It is one of the reasons I waited for a year to buzz mine... but I'm really glad I did and it gave my family a chance to step up and support me. Maybe you can allow your family to do the same?
Ohhh how I have missed you, my sweet friend. I love these videos where you just chat about what's on your heart/mind. Since I'm down with my back, I'll get to catch up on your channel...silver lining! 😉 I have the same issues with low hairline on sides and back. First time I shaved my hair, I actually decided to shave off the low hairline in the back. Ummm... never again. Looked way worse on me. I've been so busy lately that I haven't shaved it in over 2 months and I have to say, when I go to adjust the ear tabs, I'm pulling my own hair and that HURTS! Now finding the shears amongst all these moving boxes has become top priority...lol! Hope you are doing well. 💞
OMG, Becky! I read this a few days ago and got interrupted and haven't been able to get back to respond. I was seriously going to text you to check in on you.... how did the move go??? What happened to your back?? OH NO! As for shaving the nape- I TOTALLY AGREE! I hate the way it looks when I fully shave it off... I think it makes my head look ridiculous. This is why I am so torn with what to do. I really want to be able to wear Jon Renau Ignite because I so love that style, but my hairline shows on that one if it is not shaved... but I really don't want to shave it there anymore either because I hate the way it looks AND the maintenance. Dilemmas, dilemmas. I'm so glad you commented, prayers for your back. ❤️
I still struggle with myself whether to shave my head. Although it would be more convenient for myself. Unfortunately we don't have a communty here in Germany like in the United States. So it is very helpful to watch videos like yours. Thanks for that, Denise. Stay safe. xo
I buzzed mine when my hair loss became noticeable and hard to deal with...I actually feel kinda bad ass lol...although I haven’t had the guts to go out without my wigs ....it was super emotional...I cried like a baby and then I felt empowered....quite the roller coaster of emotions 😂😅 💖💪🏼sending love and light
I like watching your videos especially these ones. I don’t have anyone to talk to so this really helps. It’s like having someone to talk to since we all run into the same issues. I’m just starting to grow my hair out because I want to go out in the back yard and front yard without wearing a hat or having my neighbors see me. I also let out my bio hair across my hairline so I keep the front longer. If I do grow out all my hair it’s going to be a hassle trying to deal with that tiny ponytail of bio hair to hold my wig grip and all that nonsense. So I’ll see if I can make it past a few inches before getting fed up and cutting it again 😀
Oh my gosh I am going down this path right now! After filming this video I decided to go as long as I can without buzzing just to see how it goes and how I feel now... I'm already getting so annoyed by it, lol! We are sisters in this!
love watching your video's you remind me of me, your hair line is so much like mine, I did the buzz cut a few weeks ago and love it my husband supports me too, I shave my hair line I think it is just easier for me when wearing shorter styles so nothing shows Take care 💕 Angie xx
Thank you so much for sharing your journey on buzzing! I just recently started wearing wigs due to hair loss on one side of the top of my head. I had been wearing toppers but I am horrible at trying to integrate them into my bio hair. My bio hair can look long and stringy so buzzing is still at the back of my mind....like it's this constant niggling. When I mentioned buzzing to my stylist she almost lost her mind telling me "no" which made me want to do it even more. LOL! Needless to say, I so appreciate you sharing your experience. Oh, and btw, that Jackson looks FAB on you!!
Hi, Krista! I lived with the niggling for a year before I buzzed, so I TOTALLY Get it!! We are TWINS on that, lol. When you are ready, you will know so no pressure on yourself, k?? Big hugs!
I think I posted this before, but I do keep my temple and side hairline longer to blend - it's about 4-5 inches long and only about 3/4 inch wide. I keep about 1-1/2-2 inches at my widows peak to blend into hairlines. I buzz the rest. I don't keep my nape hair longer at all because its all cowlicks and doesn't lay down anyway. If I do an up do of any kind I pull down tendrils of the wig hair to disguise the nape, and have even trimmed that underneath hair a bit so it's not as long as the whole nape length. It works!
Thank you for sharing this! I have been growing my hair out since I made this video and it is NOT going well.... I think I am going to make one more video to talk about where I am now months later and then buzz it off again. Oh this hair loss journey- it is the gift that keeps on giving, lol!
I thank you soo much for that 'buzzing' video. I might have argued back and forth with myself for another year, on this decision. I am very happy that I buzzed mine, but I do find that I have to go in regularly and shave that back neckline.I'm happy to do it if all this 'cool' and convenience is the payoff. I am thankful that there are so many choices.
Girl, I just love you! Love your videos too! This color and ponytail are darling on you! I wish I could buzz my hair. It's so long now, and I have no choice but pin it up every day at home to keep it from falling out everywhere. I have hand tremors, so I don't think I can even cut it myself.
Big hugs! Gosh I'm sure those hand tremors cause you so many challenges.... I think there are pros and cons to everything and hair buzzing is no exception, lol. I wish I lived near you, I would come help! ❤️
Yes, I hear you about the side and nape hairline! I have similar measurements to you and when I bought a large noriko wig, I thought it would cover those sides better, and it slightly does, but since my ear to ear is small, my poor ears get bent! I have gone both ways as far as shaving the sides completely off and trying to grow them in, unfortunately i have to dye the little hair i have to match my wigs! Way too much salt and pepper on my sides! I too have a Jackson (sugar cane-r) that i cut bangs in and it was you who convinced me it's a great wig albeit took some time to get it to loosen up (cutting out the bra strap thingies helped). I am hoping to get another one in the Auburn sugar-r you showed...it is so pretty!!!
How is your hair growing journey going so far? My hair is growing out but it’s so annoying under the wig. It’s not long enough to tie in a ponytail and not short enough to tuck in under the wig very well. I’m going to try and endure a little longer and hopefully it will be as I have imagined.
SAME! Seriously, it is getting hard to deal with..... but I am doing the same as you and perservering... I really want to see what it is like to have longer hair again to blend in on the sides and nape with updos... I have a feeling that strong holding gel is going to be my friend. :)
I really love Jackson. I have one and love it. I want May for work though. I have not buzzed it but have had as short as you can for pixie without shaving. I would do it again but it was not well received by people in my life.
I am a social worker and I used to work in mental health and I had worked there for a long time and had many long time clients. But when I started wearing wigs some of them asked me if I had cancer. So I had to do some self disclosure because they thought I was dying of cancer.
My nape is low so I have to shave it, the sides drive me crazy because my color does not blend with any wig color, I have auburn and light blonde with a root but my shade that used to be a golden brown is now a mousy shade and it's not on the red side or the dark root of the wigs, drives me nuts but I do need a tiny pony tail to help secure the wigs at the back...I tried powders but none blends with any shade...so frustrating but I guess there are worse things...for now I have decided not to buzz it...for now, lol...that shade looks nice on you.
Hi, Maria. So much hassle, ARGH! I totally understand... my hair is the very ashy gray brown at the temples now... I can mostly get it to blend OK with rooted shades if I use root powder, but if someone looked really close they could probably tell.
My bio hair is extremely fine at my temples, also a bit curly and about a 10or 8. I have not buzzed my temples for a while because I need some length to blend in with my wigs. Whenever there is a bit of wind that blows the hair on my wig out of my face you can see where my wig starts because that hairline is so defined and so much thicker and denser than my bio hair. As long as I’m wearing a wig that is a bit cool/ashy my ashy and greying bio hair blends in better than with dark warm tone, I have trouble wearing brunette Ellen Wille wigs because of that issue My hairline on the back is fairly high and the bottom part of my hair is also babyfine, if I would do a ponytail it would scream ‘wig!’ because there is no gradual transition from skin to hair in the back. We have lace fronts to do that but no lace backs :-) BTW There is one benefit to wearing synthetic wigs in summer with a buzzcut: on very warm days I wet my bio hair and then put my wig on. The wet hair is very cooling and because synthetic hair does not absorb water nobody can tell
Oh my gosh, wetting your hair is a great idea! LOVE IT! Have you ever tried root powder on your ashy temple hair? It can work really well to help blend with warmer colors.
Denise Sheets I’m in the EU and that powder is not available in shops here. We do have rootspray but I’m not so keen on that because it is messy so close to your face
I came very close to a buzz cut myself recently. I found that unless a wig has an extended nape, it tends to begin riding up at times because, well, there is nothing to grip the nape and no little pony to hold the nape down. I find that on my Crowd Pleaser, which I love other than it has no extended nape. I keep wondering if I should grow mine back out, then I ask "why???". No reason, like you said. ~Cyn
Thank you for this chat. My hair is growing back in from chemo. It is about out 3 inches at the crown but shorter and thinner in the front.i am dealing with the sides growing out,at the temples an the back at the neck. It is not covered by my wigs and I can’t decide whether to cut it off or let it grow.i am sure each way has it’s pros and cons. I would like it to look decent without a wig as around the house I don’t always wear a wig. When I go swimming I don’t wear a wig either. What to do!?
Thanks for the straight talk and the helpful info. I think your hair blends well with your dark rooted wig and the nape just looks like the natural baby hairs that grow there. I live alone and have hand issues so I've been thinking of buzzing what hair I have left cuz I have such a hard time in any heat. I cut it very short last week a tiny bit at a time. It took a long time and was hard with not being able to feel with my fingers and no mirror to see the back. It looks bad and sticks out in weird places from my natural wave pattern. Hairdresser I am not! Now realize that I will have to cut it all the time to keep it short. So I'm thinking of saving for electric clippers and clip what's left off regularly. What clippers are a good buy? Any recommendations?
Well.... I have been growing my hair out since I filmed this video and it is getting SO ANNOYING! I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to go...but I really want to see if I can get to the point where I can blend in with updos in the back again which probably won't be for another month or even two.... I might have to do an update video, lol.
Thank you for this video im struggling with what to do with my thin hair as well. Ive bought two wigs....well ive kept two wigs i should say, and want to go the wig route but im struggling bad. My head is kinda flat in the back so my wigs ride up in the back and then just kinda pop off the top or feel like the will so i constantly tug them down. Not a good way to feel comfortable with going out with wigs. So i saw one reviewer that uses her biohair in a small pony to anchor her wigs in back. It does help but that means keeping my stringy hair long enough to put in a small pony. I also am having a heard time seeing me in the wigs i think are beautiful when i buy them short med or longer. Its just been so long since ive had nice hair. Any suggestions? Sorry so long. Love your channel! Tina
Hi, Tina! Let me tell you I had that same problem in the beginning. I think part of it was just my newness to wigs, because as I got used to them I noticed that they didn't really ride up that much and were not going anywhere. I will tell you though that having my hair buzzed kept my wigs on much more securely. I thought I needed that little pony tail as well but it turns out a buzzed head is way better than a baby ponytail. I've heard that from so many women who buzz their hair. They all say that their hair acts like a bit of Velcro on the wigs and really hold it securely. I found that to be true for me.
You are my favorite wig reviewer...so real...so down to earth. Love how thoroughly you review each piece. This video is awesome for those same reasons...you are genuine and real.
Denise, your channel is the BEST! One nation under God. AMEN!!!
Thanks my friend!! ❤️❤️
The shorter hair at your nape looks just fine. In fact, I know many people who have long hair who shave the nape of their neck. It's probably just that you are not used to seeing it but trust me it looks perfectly fine and a lot of people that have their long bio hair purposely cut it short like yours.
Denise, you are by far the most sweetest genuine person I know, thanks so much for the videos
Awwww, THANK YOU so much! 💕💕
Thank u so much for this chat, I'm struggling with the acceptance of my hair loss and your channel is kind of my therapist!
Oh, Liset. Big hugs! I know this can be such a struggle, but you, my friend, are not alone!! NO WAY NO HOW! ❤️
Hahaha! I love that! I think everyone has at least one pair of “ugly pajamas” around. All of mine are! 😝
Oh my gosh, did your heart skip a beat??? I totally understand that sometimes you do and sometimes you don't... I am SOOOOO that way. Big hugs to you! ❤️
LOL! Mine are just ratty t-shirts and stretched out yoga pants or capris. I'm sure my husband is so thrilled, lol.
I need gray wigs.i bought one and love it. Buzzed my head because after chemo my hair didnt all come back.
That means EVERYTHING to me, Linda. 💕💕💕
The Great Checklist 💜
✅ Great Shirt
✅ Great Video Topic
✅ Great Jackson & Color
You rock, Denise! 🌻
Awwww, thanks!!!! ❤❤
Tina Schneider My heart is with you ❤️
Oh Tina.... I'm so sorry you are going through this. Big hugs.
❤️
I don’t know anyone who wears wigs and I am a wig addict! Your videos really help me.
Hi from one fellow wig addict to another!!! 😊
I thought the same thing.... honestly. I was really surprised.
it's nice to see you in another blonde wig, you look really good. Buzzing is great and I'm glad that you are comfortable with it, you go girl
Thanks, Yvette! I'm loving the blondes this summer. ❤️
Lord bless you dear one! xoxoxo
I am definitely realizing I need those longer sideburns... so now I just have to be patient while they grow out, lol!
Denise- I really do enjoy all your videos. There hasn't been one yet that I haven't found helpful or informative. Sometimes its nice to just hear someone else talk and realize they have the same thoughts or worries as myself.
Thank you so much, Heather. This means so much to me.
A lot of this is trial and error, isn't it? Hugs!!
@@heywigsister yes it is
Understanding the Buzz issue..my hair is so so much the same as yours..I buzz mine now and I do keep the temples and the front side longer.
Lol!!😂🤣☺️
Great advice! Thank you my friend! I LOVE when I see you have commented so right back at ya!
LOL! That's why we probably WOULD be best friends and my neighbor resorts to asking my daughter about things. ❤️❤️
I finally came out of the wig closet on my UA-cam channel and it was definitely freeing! I haven’t on Facebook because I have a lot of colleagues there and that makes me nervous for some reason. It’s definitely a process. Thanks for this chat, Denise 💜
That is awesome! I just subscribed!
@@heywigsister Thank you so much, Denise!!
Subscribed as well. I look forward to viewing your videos.
I didn't used to be that way.... having buzzed hair definitely makes that easier than my longer stringy hair.
Videos like this are so beneficial! You are such a blessing to the wig world Denise!
Oh gosh, thank you so much! ❤️
I love your chats. Wow, that blonde looks fantastic on you. I love it. You are such a kind, generous person. I really appreciate you.
Thank you so much, Karen. ❤️
Love ya Denise!
Thank you so much! I got my shirt here: ellyandgrace.com/
That's right! Love your approach!
Denise so blessed to have you help with my hair loss journey
❤️❤️ I'm so glad you are here!
Lynda 🌻xx
Hi, Lynda! I tried it with a clip on Sunday and it was perfect!! Thank you so much for the suggestion! 💕💕
Jackson looks great on you girl! I have her in creamy toffee which is my favorite Noriko color. I get so many compliments when I wear that wig.😁
Thanks! I hope I get to see that color someday soon!!
As usual, such a helpful video. And I can't believe it has been eight months! I feel like I was watching that video just a month or two ago!
I know, that's crazy!!
Same here!
Love the blonde and love your shirt! 🥰🙏🏼❤️
Thanks, Jacie! I love this shirt as well! I got it here: ellyandgrace.com/
thank you for doing this topic. .. And you know I was laughing when you mentioned your neighbors. I love you to see your video's outside. No matter what, we always look to she who' maybe watching,, You have so much courage. I' still struggle to ware mine out.
LOL, I know I do that alot outside! ❤️
@@heywigsister good point.
Great info Denise!! A very important message of encouragement for all the wig wearers considering this step! XOXO
Thank you so much, Taz!
Stay safe. xo
Oh, Rita. The struggle is SO real. Big hugs to you. I'm so glad you are here. ❤️
I buzzed mine when my hair loss became noticeable and hard to deal with...I actually feel kinda bad ass lol...although I haven’t had the guts to go out without my wigs ....it was super emotional...I cried like a baby and then I felt empowered....quite the roller coaster of emotions 😂😅
💖💪🏼sending love and light
Oh, Hannah! I COMPLETELY understand! Big hugs to you and thank you for taking time to comment and share!
That is so awesome that he supports you like that! Thanks for taking time to comment! Big hugs!
Big hugs!
I love the wig chats!!!!
Me, too!!
You exude confidence and love. Thank you.
Thank you so much!!
I'm so glad you are happy with your decision! It definitely is more convenient AND cooler!!
Love your chats! ❤️
Thank you so much, Adrienne!
Totally! I do love the coverage on Noriko wigs, just wish they weren't so tight! :)
Thank you very much for sharing this information with us. It's been so helpful to me.
You are so welcome!
That color is cute on you!!
❤️❤️
the person you avoided was probably wearing a wig, too! LOL!! some day you two will confess to one another both with your wigs on! tee hee hee!
LOL!! That would be hilarious!
I really love Jackson. I have one and love it. I want May for work though. I have not buzzed it but have had as short as you can for pixie without shaving. I would do it again but it was not well received by people in my life.
Yes, I know how that feels as well.... my husband is there now, but wasn't in the beginning.
Thanks for this, I thought it was just me and the blending with a low hair line. It limits the color choices of wigs.
It can definitely make it tricky. I am going to have to work on some ideas so I can share- I am all about the options!!
Denise I love your t shirt
Thank you so much! I bought it here: bit.ly/EllyandGraceOneNation
You said it all right on, i want a updo, but i struggle with the short little hair at nape, looking for a fix, thanks Denise.
I will keep you update on what I learn! ❤️
You look good with buzzed hair, the longer hair on the sides might look good also
I am a social worker and I used to work in mental health and I had worked there for a long time and had many long time clients. But when I started wearing wigs some of them asked me if I had cancer. So I had to do some self disclosure because they thought I was dying of cancer.
Isn't that crazy how everyone's head goes straight there? So much work to do, lol.
As long as I’m wearing a wig that is a bit cool/ashy my ashy and greying bio hair blends in better than with dark warm tone, I have trouble wearing brunette Ellen Wille wigs because of that issue
My hairline on the back is fairly high and the bottom part of my hair is also babyfine, if I would do a ponytail it would scream ‘wig!’ because there is no gradual transition from skin to hair in the back. We have lace fronts to do that but no lace backs :-)
BTW There is one benefit to wearing synthetic wigs in summer with a buzzcut: on very warm days I wet my bio hair and then put my wig on.
~Cyn
❤️❤️
Thank you for this chat. My hair is growing back in from chemo. It is about out 3 inches at the crown but shorter and thinner in the front.i am dealing with the sides growing out,at the temples an the back at the neck. It is not covered by my wigs and I can’t decide whether to cut it off or let it grow.i am sure each way has it’s pros and cons. I would like it to look decent without a wig as around the house I don’t always wear a wig. When I go swimming I don’t wear a wig either. What to do!?
Yes, what to do indeed!! Some things I am dealing with!
Hi, Cheryl! This is the one I got and it works really great! amzn.to/3ifEgfK
Denise, thank you. Your problem is my problem too. What shall we do?
Well.... I have been growing my hair out since I filmed this video and it is getting SO ANNOYING! I'm not sure how much longer I'll be able to go...but I really want to see if I can get to the point where I can blend in with updos in the back again which probably won't be for another month or even two.... I might have to do an update video, lol.
ok. i did it!! i buzzed it all off. I must say...... I like it!!
@@heywigsister Thanks! Good to know. I think im going to give it a try. Im sure it feels great. Thanks so much for your insight.
You are my favorite wig reviewer...so real...so down to earth. Love how thoroughly you review each piece. This video is awesome for those same reasons...you are genuine and real.
Thank you so so much, Kimberly! Gosh, you comments made me smile, big hugs to you!!
