    This video reminded my why I always use full towers for my builds. I have plenty of room, and I don’t want the headache of using smaller cases. Good effort though, Marcus!

      Eh it just depends on what your ambition is.
      If you're doing a midrange build, ITX becomes much more feasible. I've got a 5600 & an RTX 3070 in my 15L ITX case & don't need to worry about thermals at all. But for me, finding room for a full tower is more of a headache than fiddling with an ITX case for half an afternoon. Plus I have a toddler & don't want my PC hanging around on the floor lol.

    I have been using this case for 2 months now. Here are my problems and thoughts.
    Note: I use the ridge in a horizontal setup in a 28x44cm cupboard.
    PC Parts:
    Moded zotac 3080ti trin oc
    Vram copper mod
    fan mod, thermalright 3x TL-B9x25mm
    top side installed 3 80x15mm exhaust fans
    Pcie 4.0 riser cable because the card isn’t working and has to be used in 3.0. I had to remove the bracket and side panel to fit the riser cable.
    Cpu amd r7 5700x with Asus strix x570i
    I had to edit the bios of the board to enable low power mode so the chipset wouldn’t overheat…
    Cooler - Blackridge with phanteks T30 and Noctua A9x14, since i took off the panel anyway might as well use the beefiest fan set up 🤷🏻‍♂️ had to remove the main m.2 cover to fit the cooler.
    Edit: Gpu temps easily hits 83c despite under-volt and cpu at around 80c when gaming after 3hours. UNLESS i fold a piece of paper into an L shape to prevent gpu from intaking hot exhausted air from the top, this alone helped the gpu to never reach 80c. I’ve also slid in another piece of paper separate the gpu and cpu compartment then my gpu always stays below 78c
    Proved: gpu is sucking back in the hot air vented because of the space restriction of the cupboard. Isolate the intake and exhaust will make a noticeable difference.

      @henryt9731 7 місяців тому

      @@superdahoho I’m currently using the case with the cpu side panel off. And made plenty of updates to the build.
      The cooler is alpenföhn black ridge, and im using a phanateks T30 on it.
      CPU is now 5800x3d
      I’ve also bent the fram and deshrouded a Zotac AMP Extreme ARIO 4080super to fit in it. Deshrouded and replaced with 2 phanateks T30, under 60c under constant benchmarking.
      Bought this card instead of the normal sized 4080super because I will switch to a NCORE 100max next month.

    i rlly rlly like the idea of this. maybe one that's just a little thicker so you can fit a 2 fan water CPU water cooler as well as some small case fans for the motherboard. My next build is gonna be a small one whenever my 4080 build becomes obsolete!

  • @RichardSanchez137
    @RichardSanchez137 Рік тому +25

    The ridge can handle up to 70mm CPU fan. the Pure rock is 45mm. You can put a 120x25mm fan and get you to 55mm or even get a Phanteks T30mm. Also, there are a few companies that sell 140mm slim fans. you can go as low as 13mm.

    Would the GPU cause a bottleneck for the CPU on this build? Honest question, I know the 5800X is a beast of a CPU, but not sure if bottlenecking would occur.

    • @NaanStop96
      @NaanStop96 Рік тому +1

      I think the consensus is that the 5800x3D will perform very close to the highest end CPUs at 4k resolutions or higher, since the gpu is the primary part at work at higher resolution. 13700k and 13900k have shown to have exceeded performance but given the low tdp of a 5800x3D and its 3D v cache(perfect for gaming) its the perfect cpu for itx builds as you'd most likely not be able to cool the higher tdp cpu from AMD or Intel without liquid cooling in a small itx case.

    • @PcCentric

    seeing this after building my own ITX pc (nr200 so it barely counts), there is so much stress in finding parts that for sure will fit on top of managing cables is a nightmare. If you do not mind a massive headache for the entire process then sure, build ITX. For most people however, mid towers are so much easier and less restricting. An ITX build is just not practical although I do love how it only takes up 40% as much space as my old mid tower. If you insist on ITX just start with the nr200, it's not the easiest thing in the world but with how much space you have, I speculate that it is easier than other smaller ITX chassis.

    There can apparently be issues with the pcie riser card in the Ridge when using an AM4 motherboard which might be the cause of the crashes? I had to replace my riser card with a 3rd party cable to get my 7900XTX to work properly with an Asus B550i motherboard. Fractal support are aware and are investigating.

I now have 4 fans aimed at the case to stop it crashing on over temp!...... it's fine.. i'll cope.. I love the form factor and the power but there needs to be some cleaver innovation or a leap in technology to bring better cooling to these types of systems..

    The 4090 would of been bottlenecked by the cpu in the system (because of low profile cooler?) so you didn't use it?

    I have an 4080 and I can’t get it to work with an sfx 850. When I power on, there’s an transient spike, and that’s as far as it goes. I’m using a separate psu for the time being, until there’s an atx.3 compatible sfx psu.

    You can 3d print a spacer-extension for the side panel to fit two more fans for the gpu and and AIO 240 rad for the cpu eh?

    have you found what was the issue eventually? I've just sent back my RTX4080 FE after one week of usage because the pc was either freezing or crashing with no video signal. Is yours still working on another build? I'm starting to think these 4080 FE are fragile.

      I just did the same with my 4080fe... Asus x570i and same exact issues in a meshlicious with pcie 4 riser cable. Also tried outside the case to skip the riser cable. It eventually stopped outputting video altogether.

      @@twincamcoupe I stopped trying with the meshilicious. Just bought a Corsair 4000D airflow to put the new card I receive
