It's balanced, sure, but the value just isn't there because there's no reason whatsoever to put an AIO on a CPU that runs as cool as the R7-7800X3D. Hell, I've had an AMD Wraith Prism on my R7-5800X3D for almost two years and it has been 100% free of problems. The R7-5800X3D also runs a good deal hotter than the R7-7800X3D. Saw this vid while looking for a build for my first pc build. Then I see a vid from a year ago about Asus boards making the 7800 x3d chips explode. Now I'm freaking out and wondering if I should have gotten a console instead. Has this issue been fixed, it was a year ago, I dunno I'm new to all this myself. Great vid though, convinced me to give it a go.
7800x3D doesnt really need water cooling tho, decent aircooler can do the job, and you could cut down on the motherboard as well with a MSI 650 gaming+wifi
One piece of advice he always give that i disagree with is enabling EXPO/XMP when the system first posts. You should install your OS first before enabling those features, as there is a chance that the system crashes due to instability, and if that happens, then your windows install can become corrupted.
My 1st PC build was late 90's. (OK, I'm old.) My last was in 2011. In 2016 I bought a PC from my buddy and in 2020 I bought a gaming system from Best Buy. An IBuyPower PC and it is actually awesome. MSI Mobo, Intel 10900k, 2070 super and 16gb Ram. I recently upgraded the PSU to 850w and added a 4070super plus 32gb DDR4 and I must say, it is pretty awesome. However, I'm getting the building bug again... (The cases today are mind blowing.) I'm thinking a system with the 7800x3d and a 7900xtx. Your videos are extremely helpful and giving me confidence to get back into this!
Thank you! I needed to know the info about the motherboard. Really helped me out man! An Thanks for every single video. They’re all pretty awesome man. I hope Carl is paid well!

How do you work out how much CPU power will suffice? i.e. knowing that you only need one 8-pin..... is there any harm in plugging both in if it's not actually needed? (just to be safe).
I prefer the Lian LI Lancool 216. Comes with two beautiful LL160mm RGB fans, one rear 140mm fan, an installed hub for normal RGB/PWM, and LL build quality. Gamers Nexus shows it at the top of the charts for CPU cooling also (next to the Fractal Torrent). But you do you. :)
Funny story im building basically the same deal but with a 7900xt. Im 13700k is basically completely dead so ime replacing my motherboard with the asrock steel legend and a 7800x3d. I cant wait to try it out. Side note resizable bar on intel causes 1% low to be around 27% lowwer. And overall less stable frame rates. You will get higher FPS but in competitive shooters a more stable fps with better 1% lows is more ideal in my opinion.
I enjoy your builds and presentations, but I don't share the love of Asus products that you have. To understand why, watch a few videos about Asus from UA-camrs like Gamers Nexus, and JayzTwoCents. In other videos, you have used DeepCool CPU coolers, but for legal reasons, they are no longer allowed to sell their products in the USA. Thankfully, I bought one of their coolers right before the ban, it works great, but if it dies, I'm screwed because they won't be able to ship a replacement to me.
I'm running 5 7600 non x, the difference between x and normal is marginal and non x needs less wattage and runs a bit cooler. I had no issues on my 7600 with 7900 gre. I can rum all games on 1440p with 80 to 160 fps depending on the title.
Hey, that's almost exactly the same build I made a few weeks ago. I wanted to put an RTX 4070ti super in it, but got scammed on Amazon when I oredered it. Then Amazon accused me of colluding with the scammer and blocked my account. They never even asked for my side of the story. So I had to go with a cheaper GPU. Hopefully it will be ok.
Comment from an older PC tech. I'd say you should save some money by getting a Artic Cooling AIO instead of that Corsair one. Then shop for som cheaper fans. Corsair is good at one thing, making money from their brand. Well they are good at making server memory and have a pretty respectable line of PSUs. But for cooling they are not really that good. Fancy looking memory they are also pretty good at but there are many other brands to choose from, and often at better price and/or higher performance. Corsair cases are a mix of a few good ones, but also a lot of disappointments. And again they are very good at keeping prices up high. So cheaper fans, cheaper and better AIO, perhaps avoiding the ASUS motherboard, that's a few things to get the price down a bit and hopefully the warranty I mean on the MB is better than what ASUS has proven lately. I mean the parts in this video isn't bad, some of them are just a bit more expensive than needed, and ASUS was recently caught doing the dirty as far as warranty is concerned.
This is very similar to what I want to build. Truthfully, is it as easy to build yourself as you made it look in the video? Tempted to buy the parts and do it myself to save money but concerned its super difficult.
Big thanks to Marcus, I built this exact PC 3 weeks ago after watching this video and was in the market for a new PC. All I can advise is if you can fork out the extra bit of £££ for something like a 4070 Ti Super, or any similar spec GPU then go for the NVIDIA. Had nothing but issues with the Radeon 7900 GRE (constant game crashes due to driver time outs). Other than that brilliant video, advice and upbeat mentality from Marcus as always :)
Marcus, just completed my first ever build of a PC (Not tapping myself on the back just yet) and followed your recommendation on this rig. (All good so far) Have put it together (I think) but wanted to check with you, or anyone else on here who could help as I'm stuck. Firstly, thanks for a great video on how to build a PC but can you spend a bit more time on the cable connections and which ports/connection to use. Don't get me wrong, I'm no expert but maybe so some more overhead shots of where the cables connect to on the motherboard. I need help on 2 things please, connecting up the cooler. I have got the same (on your recommendation) On your video at 14.37 where does that cable connect, I'm lost?? Also, the USB connector from the Hub on your video 18.40? Does it have to go on the bottom of the board as mine doesn't seem to fit? is it a difficult connector to do or am I being a numpty! Keep up the great content, Cheers in advance.
Hey bro please tell me if it's fine. Just upgraded my case to a Lianli Lancool 216RW. The 4000D would absolutely have been a better choice....if I hadn't gotten the 216 for just ten more Canadian on some kind of weird unannounced sale on Newegg. But I did, so yay me.
I'm new to P.C. been studying through you and other resources. Where can I go to build a P.C. that suits around my needs? I'll spend what I have to for reliability and years of upgrades, but I'm not really looking for flashy, just more for study, possibly video calling, and some gaming. My main goal for gaming is to be able to play the shooter games I like with knowing I have confidence in my setup, and I'm not lagging or something due to having outdated materials. Please point me to a website or video so i dont spend unnecessary money for my applications.
The build I'm running is very similar. only difference is I'm still on am4 with the 5800x3d. paired it with the powercolor red devil 7900gre and a 240mm aio. as sad as it is to say, the only reason I haven't upgraded to ddr5 and the 7800x3d yet is because all of the available rgb ddr5 ram is quite ugly imo. when I find a set I like with good specs, ill upgrade.
I’ve just bought a rig with this exact setup except it had an RTX-3090 -FE and 5tb of wd black ssd drives ,same case fans Second hand for 1k And it is an absolute monster performing pc
I'm building a 7800x3d 7900 gre system too. Just waiting for a new case bc the fractal meshify C was too small. Lian Li O11D EVO should do it. Went with arctic liquid freezer III and got some of their bionix fans too. Got everything non rgb as its not my thing.
Great video enjoyed watching & learning from that. I'm looking to build my first PC & what you have here is pretty much in my budget. I want to build it to run Microsoft flight simulator 2020 so I'm wanting to know will this PC rig run MSFS2020 pretty well at high setting? Thanks
Out of all the cases I have built in the 4000D Air Flow was the best thermals of all of them, even better than 5000D Air Flow with 10 fans. It is still better than the one I have at the moment - NZXT H9 Flow with $900 USD worth of iCue Link fans and 360 AIO. I gave the 4000D to my daughter for her 1st Gaming PC and she loves it
The Corsair 4000 series case is literally the perfect size In my opinion, Large enough to fit plenty of fans and hardware in it. Any larger and it's just getting ridiculous.
Is it a good idea to enable expo or intels version of memory tuning before installing windows? I had a nightmare installing windows when the memory i picked was incompatible at its rated speed, had to back it off 200mhz when i finally figured out the issue 😂
I'd go with the 7900 GRE it's faster at pure rasterization most of the time & you get a little extra VRAM as well. Now the 4070 is most likely better at RT. Also, DLSS is the superior upcaller as well. Plus Nvidia seems to be a little better do getting work done like rendering. The 4070 is also better on power. But that 12 GB of VRAM kind of kills any of the pluses the 4070 has at least in my opinion.
That's exactly what I have been looking for, just cut all the fluff and all those fans and expensive cooler and can build with same performance for 500 bucks less, thank you

I hope Carl is paid well!
nah just do better 4k all settings maxed out 240fps does not move even on drop pegged on a 45 curve oled 240hz display via 4090 arous/gigabyte on intel i9 14900k 64 gb ddr5 7800 4tb nvme gen 5. what's funny is Fortnite is more demanding than apex with all total max in dlss varies in the 120-150 fps range on the ground where apex is never moves off 240
Do I need the Corsair cables or can I go without them?
Not worried for looks atm jus wanna build my first pc and save money (get my last part monday)
I upgraded from a i7-2600k, 1080ti and 16GB of DDR3 to a 7800X3D, 7900 GRE and 32 GB of DDR5 last month. It’s been amazing.
I'll just wait for the upcoming 8000 / 5000 series cards
I’m looking to go from console to pc I don’t have much knowledge at all about pc’s let alone building one but I really want to build one myself and tips?
Hi, I hope you're ok. Please check my building in pc part picke. If there is no problem. I'll buy it. Thanks 😊
Hello sir, love the pc, i have never owned nor built or even SEEN a pc
But would this run red dead redemption 2 well?
could i use
Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360 A-RGB cooler instead?
Have exact same PC, different corsair AIO, and a 7900xt Taichi, in the same case, BEAST of a system. First time going all AMD after Intel/Nvidia for 12+ years and have been loving it for over a year now.
Built my PC this week with the same board, RAM, CPU and GPU. Very happy with it. Happy to see my build on here.
How’s it been?
how its been, planning to get the same this week!
any problems with the build yet?

I built a very similar system except it was mini-ITX in a Corsair 2000D case. Got similar results on temps and frame rates. Loved seeing this!
What is the price
I really need a pc for gaming and school
How do you work out how much CPU power will suffice? i.e. knowing that you only need one 8-pin..... is there any harm in plugging both in if it's not actually needed? (just to be safe).
What is "the mains"? Pardon my american'ness
The 7900 gre would be fine with a 5600x
Do I need the 7 7800x3d? Or is the 5 7600x enough? It’s like a €200 difference
Would this build work with a 4080?
Day 4 of asking PC Centric for a Graphics card better than a GTX 1080Ti that I have in my potato very average PC!?!?!
Hi again. Sorry to be a pain but losing it a bit now as having installed icue, it doesn't recognize my radiator OR FANS????
Any chance of some help?
Keep up the great content,
Cheers in advance.
Hey bro please tell me if it's fine. Budget is extended already for GPU now so the question is should I scrap the build or go ahead with this(no upgrade)
i5 12400f
H610 asus prime (really cheap in India. B series mobo is 1.5 time its price)
3200 mhz 16GB RAM
NVME SSD
C tier PSU 650w
7700XT GPU
Will drill holes in a cheap office cabinet for plenty of airflow.
What are your thoughts as I need UPS as well so budget is maxed out...
Hey great video mate. I'm using a 7800xt how can I monitor the temps and fps like you have in the video? Thanks
I literally build a pc with the same GPU and CPU just now rest is little bit different bc of budget and mobo is X670E
Exactly the video I was looking for. Thank you sir!!
I gave the 4000D to my daughter for her 1st Gaming PC and she loves it
Are the cables now included in the single QX120 fans? Before they weren't, right?
4:10 if you've ended up with intel optimised RAM for your AMD build is it much of an issue for a casual gamer?
The Corsair 4000 series case is literally the perfect size In my opinion, Large enough to fit plenty of fans and hardware in it. Any larger and it's just getting ridiculous.
Is it a good idea to enable expo or intels version of memory tuning before installing windows? I had a nightmare installing windows when the memory i picked was incompatible at its rated speed, had to back it off 200mhz when i finally figured out the issue 😂
7900gre or 4070 idk what 2 get any suggestions and reasons backing them?
amd is ass, a billion stutters and bad support etc, save yourself the trouble and get a real gpu
