The secret to weight loss isn't exercise..the secret is appetite control...I tried the reduced calorie technique...took six months of almost daily running to lose thirty pounds...this time I lost thirty pounds in eight weeks...how?..by eating only once a day...I have a twenty minute eating window every day...it works big time..also my muscles wasted away on the typical weight loss diet...but in one meal a day my muscles are actuay growing as I lose weight...

My grandmother walked 2 miles a day until she was in her 90s. Her **90s** She avoided medications, ate a balanced diet (with weekly fries from McDonalds & a scoop of ice cream after dinner every night.) She passed away, in her sleep, at the age of 97.
She told all of her grandchildren that daily walks were the key to her longevity. She said that if she stopped moving, she knew she’d “get old.”
    She was so right.

I knew a man who had a family history of heart problems. In his forties he had a triple heart bypass, after heart attacks. He stopped smoking, started walking everyday. Lost the flab. Anyway 40 years later I saw him in the local supermarket. I thought he had died years ago. He was 91 in 2024! Still going, still walking. Well done Morris! That’s his name Morris.

I started walking 30 years ago. Got hooked! I still walk at least 45 min per day. Loved the way exercise made me feel, so I usually add 15 min Sunrise Tai Chi, 15 min strengthening, and sometimes add 30 min dance video to that. I stick with the beginner exercises so I stay motivated and don't get sore. I'm 68. Just keep moving. UPDATE: One year later...I now do 4-6 10 min exercise videos a day and walk my dogs round the block 2x. That's 2- 20 min walks. While my dogs are sniffing round, I walk in place or do 'mule kicks or knee lifts. I'm also learning belly dancing.

I've been bouncing back and forth between 42 to 44 waist size in my jeans for the last 10 years or so. I've limited my pop consumption to 1 or 2 on the weekends. The company I work for allots 30 minutes paid for health and fitness during our shift. I started walking for those 30 minutes about 2 months ago. My pants started getting baggy on me. Last Friday I bought a size 38!! I haven't been able to wear anything sized in the 30's since I was in my 30's. (I'm 52 now). And I probably could have fit into 36's, but I ordered my jeans online so I wasn't going to push it. One day at a time.

I personally think a 30-40 minute brisk walk everyday is great for a few reasons. Instead of a hard work out 2-3 times a week with risk of over doing it and or hurting yourself and making you take days off and your mind may only be thinking heathy those days a walk everyday keeps your mind on health everyday and likely eating better cause of this. Also a walk a day may not burn the most calories but when done every day they sure add up and in the end more likely to keep it up.

It's great if you live close to a nice sloping bridge, with enough walking time before you get to it. The rising slope will take more effort to get over, and you'll probably get fresher air and a breeze as well. When you get to the end, turn around and you get the same thing. Really raises your heart rate. Glad someone else discovered the benefits of walking. Was beginning to think it was just me. 🙂

I lost 5 kilos walking at home in my living room, 5k-10k steps (60-90 min) a day in two months.I also run sometimes instead of walking doing HIIT but it is not more than 15 min of that.

I walk every day for about 4 miles. My weight has not changed at all for over a year. Not at all. Fortunately it is ideal - my BMI is 22.7!
Walking outside during the day is better, as exposure to the sun is where you get your natural vitamin D.

Over the last year and a half I've walked 2 miles every morning at 5:30am. I take the dogs and have at it. During that time, I ate Keto, and worked up to OMAD where I've been for about 10 months. I have lost around 115lbs and honestly felt that most of my weight loss was from diet rather than walking. Understanding what walking does to my hormones makes me think that maybe I underestimated how much walking has helped towards the weight loss. The walking makes me feel good. I hate getting up but the walking wakes me up and energizes me for the whole day. Better than coffee, although I don't shy away from that either.

@@lindarobinson9536 I highly recommend starting with maybe 16/8 If and getting used to eating in smaller windows before going OMAD. You have to eat fats to keep you satiated longer, so healthy fats like beef, avocados, eggs, dressings made with healthy olive oils help keep you from getting hungry. Eat the healthiest foods you can afford. Stay away from carbs as much as possible because they trigger insulin which puts your body in fat storage mode instead of fat burning mode and make you hungry sooner. I highly recommend watch videos by Dr Jason Fung, Dr Ken Berry, Dr Eric Berg. Dr Fung is a kidney specialist, but he's great on fasting & diabetes info. He changed my world. YOU CAN DO THIS TOO!!!!! I'M NOT SPECIAL. I'm just an ordinary guy who finally found information that works if you follow it.

Ok so, walk fast. Feel your heart. If it’s racing really really fast, you’re doing good! If it’s relaxed, you’ll still lose weight BUT probably not as much. For me I have to get my heart rate up to 120 to lose weight!

Most treadmills today have programs on them that lift the incline and change the “terrain” - I highly recommend people invest in a good treadmill. That way the ability to walk is always there - no matter what you are wearing, or who is around, the WEATHER, there is NO excuse and I’ve noticed the odds are, people will pay and not use a gym membership, but they will use their treadmill. That’s my experience anyway. :)

I am retired presently. When I was still working, I ate my lunch during coffee break at 11 am. and used my official lunch break to walk outside, as fast as I could for 30 minutes. I did that for one year. Did I lose any weight? Nope, not an oz! Did I get more fit? Don’t know but I hope so. A few years later I discovered through a routine blood test that I had become pre-diabetic. What? While I was snacking on carrots and celery? I was devastated and search the internet for answers, found the keto community and started a low carb diet. Within 12 weeks I lost 15 lbs and my Hba1c dropped from 6.6 to 6.1. What I learned was that exercise increases muscle strength but only the right diet can help lose body fat and weight. You cannot outrun a lousy diet.

Ma'am I have done a lot of treadmill walking in my life, I put up the incline & increase my speed for force myself for a few minutes, then reduce again & up again & so on. I decided to include cycling into my cardio workout & that really did force more muscles & changed my breathing rhythm again. I do walk though 7kph for an hour outdoors. Please don't knock the treadmill though again because one does not have to walk on one level.

As a tip, I suggest listening to fast paced music. I listen to classic heavy metal and it keeps me walking at a quicker pace. That is, one naturally seeks to walk at a pace similar to the pace of the music. Therefore, podcasts or audiobooks may not be ideal.
