      Iam doing same and i lost 50lbs. I will add more cardio to build stamina and more shape body but for now walking and diet changes are best i was not in shape for running or hitting gym when i was winded just after one flight of stairs. Iam getting much better already resolved many health issues as apnoea, oedema, reflux etc.. Walking is not effective from athletic standpoint but also very effective because in this day and age people are barely moving so its still massive upgrade from sitting whole day in front of PC. As was said in video things need time to happen and big mistake is people start super hard beyond their limits and will thinking it few weeks miracle happen and they fail spectacularly. There are many videos of people that do it but that's not normal they are outliners with iron will and dedication and 99% of people cant do it.

      I walk 45 minutes to an hour a day and in 7 weeks I dropped 20 lbs as of today, I also cut out soda primarily only drinking water and water with mio and protein shakes, cleaned up my diet and feel human again :) it’s amazing what cardio can do for you. I also dropped my resting heart rate from 75+ to 60+

    This was very interesting, thanks for posting. My own experience is simple, back in September 2020 I weighed 16 stones (224 lbs) and I was shocked to be honest. I started walking 30 minutes a day every day irrespective of what I had on. I have built this up to 70 minutes, once again irrespective of what else I am doing that day, and I now weigh 13 st 9lbs (190 lbs). The only thing I have changed is that I walk every day, no change in diet or more exercise than I was already doing except the walking. I'm extremely pleased with the results, as is my wife!!!!

      Exactly....people seem to think you can lose weight by walking / exercise alone. My husband walks about 5 or 6 miles a day, sometimes more but never loses any weight...but that's not the reason he walks, he just likes it. I, who hate walking, would rather eat less than walk or exercise for the amount of time it would take to burn off anything significant ( a lot...too much for me). I've lost 70 lbs in 10 months by changing my eating habits and cutting out alcohol completely ( other than at Christmas, when I regained about 5 lbs in a week...I am convinced the alcohol had a lot to do with it because your body burns off alcohol before anything else)

    The reason why body fat isn't the 454g X 9 calories is because that is a pure fat number but body fat is stored in adipose tissue that is only 85-87% fat for most people. the rest is adipose tissue, water and some nutrients. That's why you have to reduce the amount of calories in a lb of body fat by 13-17% from that 454g X 9 calories number. It's somewhere between 3473 -3700 calories for most of the population.

      Thank you for your question. It’s difficult to provide personalized advice without a lot more information. What I can say is that if you’re daily energy expenditure is 1500 kcal and your body weight is stable, that suggests your energy intake is also around 1500 kcal. Losing weight requires being in a calorie deficit, so either further increases in activity or reducing calorie intake would be the next steps. Things like eating more protein, drinking lots of water, getting good sleep and doing strength training two or more times per week are other habits that help with weight loss goals.

    I never struggled with weight; swam, walked, but had a bad bout of sciatica and a back injury a few yrs back plus other things so I was virtually in bed for 3 yrs and gained 40 lbs. Ouch you say. I was on a walker at the age of 58 which was unacceptable; I love dogs suddenly no dogs in my life. Physiotherapy and walking have earned me my life back plus a Covid 19 dog --- spend an hour and a half with her outside and am mindful of not lolling in front of the computer which is how i make my living so am mindful and healthy eating etc. I didn't track weight loss but it is obvious I am back to normal. At my age losing weight did result in some loose skin. Who cares????
    This may sound breezy but it was HUGE for me. I would say to everyone whether you are losing weight or not; get outside!! It totally fixed my sleep which is huge. Perhaps people are not seeing immediate results; one day at a time and don't go from 0 to 100 which is a recipe for disaster. I started with a fitbit but after learning that I had an old hairline spinal fracture which was playing havoc with all kinds of body alignment i just get in what I can and if I just don't feel like it, Kiwi the miracle dog does, so bound to get out there. I am about 210lbs and its mostly because I just don't move at all in a day, just sitting in front of my computer. I have regulated the amount of snacks and food I eat, but not so much that I count the calories. So I figured that I could use the gym-membership that I had and just walk on the treadmill every so often for 1 hour. And its not bad, I just set it to a semi-quick walking speed with an incline, place my phone on the machine and just watch some videos while walking. I don't feel sick or tired after doing so, no muscle pains either, which is quite nice. The machine calculates that I am walking off about 420Kcal an hour by doing so, and there are some small results already, like almost no double chin when tilting my head down. Good luck to everyone else.

    Any recommendations for best walking shoes? Ever since I hit 40yrs old a few years ago my feet get sore easier. So far my adidas are my best ones but even those don’t perfectly reduce it. I’ve been doing 30 min of walking in am and 30 in pm recently. I did put on quite a bit of weight the last 6-7 years (just kept climbing up- totaling like 50-60 lbs). So maybe the weight gain has also contributed to my feet sore easier. My weight used to be pretty consistent in my younger years, only fluctuating up or down about 10 lbs. even after having kids it dropped back down to normal quickly. So ever since scale started climbing I’ve been quite shocked how I could let it get so high. I hope walking helps me change direction. I know I’ve got to lower sugar intake too. I’ve never been a soda or juice drinker, just water, but I love my chocolate and cookies. And I ate cleaner in my 20’s avoiding processed stuff. Somehow I’ve gotten off track.

      Thanks for your comment. There's no exact best shoe, it really depends on the person and what's going on with their feet. The employees at high quality running shoe stores can often give some basic insight. Whatever feels comfortable and allows you to do more activity with less pain is generally the way to go. Doing that while also building foot and leg strength with various exercises is a great two pronged approach to help reduce pain while also building capacity. Good luck!

    • @trainforever1142
      @trainforever1142  9 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for your question. It doesn't make that much of a difference to fat loss outcomes whether you exercise on an empty stomach or not. It all comes down to energy balance and the factors that contribute to either side of that equation. Things that tend to contribute to successful are lots of walking, lifting weights 2-4 times per week, eating whole foods and hitting a protein target, getting lots of sleep, drinking lots of water and managing stress. Whenever someone I'm working with is trying to lose weight, those are the things we explore, focus on and make changes around. If all of those pieces of the puzzle aren't in place, that's usually the reason for not seeing the desired results. Good luck with your training.

      It depends on a number of factors.
      If you picked up walking from after a year on bedrest, then yes you will build up muscles.
      Also noteworthy is your consistency. Perhaps doing it everyday is the key. Perhaps you burn the same number of calories as you accumulate over the 3 non-walking days.
      Maybe you changed your diet to accommodate your cravings of carbs and fats.

If the size of the deficit decreases, the rate of weight loss will slow down, but this is expected as one reaches their goal weight. First I must say thank you for this video. But my question is will I lose weight from my thigh when walking?
    My weight is 214 and I want to lose weight from my thigh because I believe it's affecting my knees
    Please reply it would be grateful
    Thanks

      Good question! What you're describing is something known as spot reduction, where we deliberately try to lose fat in a specific body part. This isn't possible. The good news is that a healthy weight loss plan will result in fat being lost throughout the body. Good luck.

      I really can't say. I typically recommend walking for an hour most days of the week when looking to use walking as part of a weight loss strategy. How that will work for a particular person depends on a lot of factors. I can't give personalized nutrition recommendations in a format like this. Good luck.

    "Energy in/energy out" is a very simplified explanation because it fails to take into account that if you are fat then you're going to be insulin resistant; so unless you tackle the insulin resistance, then all you'll achieve is to yo-yo your weight and probably end up fatter.
    However, as walking is easier on the body, you will lose an amount of weight until the body lowers your Basel Metabolic Rate to compensate

    • @trainforever1142
      @trainforever1142  Рік тому +1

      Energy in/out is a simple concept that can become complex as you investigate the factors that contribute to each side of the equation. The existence of insulin resistance doesn't invalidate the energy balance model. Could it be that an insulin resistant person is more likely to store excess energy as fat rather than expend it or excrete it? Sure. But all energy into the system must still be accounted for in some way.
      Insulin resistance improves or resolves mostly through the reduction of body fat. This loss of body fat can be achieved through restricting carbohydrates, but more fundamentally and universally, will result from a calorie deficit. Restricting carbs can achieve that calorie deficit. So can other methods such as calorie restriction, or increasing physical activity (usually both).
      The current evidence does not support the carbohydrate insulin model of obesity: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9071483/

      @@trainforever1142 Really, then please explain why a PLETHORA of other people of reputation promote Intermittent Fasting as the way to reduce insulin resistance and therefore the restriction that prevents weight loss.
      You may prefer to do your research properly and be less closed to other ideas because it appears to me that you have a vested financial interest in promoting the hokom of calorific restriction.
      If you restrict calories, your body will adapt and lower your Basel Metabolic Rate, then what do you do; reduce your calories even further, train more - it's unsustainable as a method of weight loss and for maintaining a healthy weight thereafter

    • @trainforever1142
      @trainforever1142  Рік тому

      @@leestockton9367 Good question. I can't speak to why certain people promote certain things. Some are probably trying to promote what they think helps people. Other people are trying to get views and likes or sell their book. You see a lot of both these days. What about all the people promoting keto? Or carnivore? Are they all right as well?
      To be clear, I never said there was anything wrong with intermittent fasting. I only criticized Thomas Delauer specifically, and I stand by that.
      I think fasting can be great. I know it works for a lot of people. In terms of weight loss, it works by creating an energy deficit, by restricting the window within with a person eats. All diets work this way. Keto restricts calories by restricting an entire macronutrient group. Low fat diets work the same way, just a different macronutrient. I'm not advocating for any one particular diet, and in my own coaching practice, use different approaches, including fasting, if that's what will work best for the person for a long period of time.
      What is not true, is this idea that intermittent fasting is inherently superior to other methods when calories are matched:
      pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31614992/
      If we're talking about insulin resistance, here's a meta analysis that shows definite benefit of IF when compared to control, but WORSE outcomes for insulin resistance compared to caloric restriction:
      pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35586738/
      Crucially, the authors note that many studies reported participants having an easier time sticking to IF protocols, and that's significant.
      Bit of a different topic, but just for fun, this one compared low carb to moderate carb diets on weight loss outcomes and found they worked equally well:
      pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35088407/
      Again, I have nothing against fasting. I honestly think it's great if that's what a person wants to do. I am though, opposed to the idea that it is inherently superior to other dietary approaches to weight loss because the evidence does not support that.

    Is walking one hour everyday actually good for belly fat train forever?

    • @trainforever1142
      @trainforever1142  3 роки тому +4

      Yes. It’s one of many things that a person can do to help reduce belly fat, as well as provide several other health benefits. Walking on its own may not be enough to create substantial change in body composition. Other things that help are eating protein from plant or animal sources, vegetables, drinking lots of water, getting restful sleep, eating less processed food and doing strength training 2-4x per week
