2:26 "We need to fill Spock's pants" - wait until pon-farr and the model will do it itself (trekker joke there.....) 😊
BTW great job - didn't know you could paint this well on larger miniatures!

I own all four of these kits but I am a collector and not a modeler, so they are all still in their shrink-wrapped boxes. I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you for letting me see what my model would look like, if I had your skills.

This was awesome. I have 2 sets of these kits, and my buddy has a 3D printer so he printed me head sculpts with more accurate likenesses (if you have access to a 3D printer, look up Antonio Dato's work. Once I'm finished with Kirk, Spock, Bones, ans Scotty, I'm interchanging and altering the parts on the second set of kits, and with custom heads 3D printed, along with a spare Deanna Troi kit from GeoMetric Design and some Apoxie Sculpt and custom printed hands, legs, and a head, I will be doing kitbashes of Sulu, Chekov, and Uhura. If you ever want to do a buddy build with any of these kits, I'd definitely be interested. I've been in contact with Oggie from Interstellar Modeler with the TNG set I'm working on

Green glaze is a nice touch. Makes sense with Vulcans' green blood.

This looked like a fun build! The blue is a bit to bright but still looks good. Your comment about skin tone and it being different on the show is interesting. I think that he's supposed to be green toned skin due to his vulcan blood which is copper based instead of iron.

I use a silicone shaper tool for smoothing over and shaping epoxy putty, these are designed for clay modelling and are like a paint brush but with a tip made from black silicone. When used with water I can get the putty to fill the gap and remove the excess so that there isn't much sanding needed.
I saw this technique used for war gaming miniatures though I use it for models as well wherever there's a seam that needs the filler to be shaped or where there's poor access for sanding.

I am searching for this figure for sooo long now... Can't wait to watch. Already got Bones n Kirk. To geek out a bit here, Spocks skin tone is slighty greenish, due to his vulcan or half vulcan heritage. Their blood is copperbased not like humans. At least i am pretty certain about this.

Great job! However the TOS Trek uniforms had a raglan sleeve, there was no need to tool in a seam at the shoulder.

I have built Horizon vinyl figures and I fill the legs with plaster too. I do recommend using Woodland Scenics Lightweight Hydrcal C1201 plaster instead of plaster of paris due to the heat given off during the process of setting. It can cause some unwanted distortion with some vinyl parts. The model railroad guys use this product in the reusable molds for rocks and tunnel entrances.

Very nice! I did all 4 kits several years ago and used the replacement resin heads. The resin heads are more accurate. However the replacement for McCoy isn't very accurate! After seeing your build of Spick I'm going to go back in and make some changes. Especially the transporter pads. Love that effect!

It looks terrific, there's a lot of craft in putting it together and painting, i never attempted one of these when they were originally released.

I kind of like the slightly out of proportion look of this kit, as those "faults" make the kit a little more endrearing. Certainly a different vibe than the more hyper-realist anatomies of current gen kits.

The biggest issue is you put seams in the sleeves when the sleeve seams were already there running from the collar down. Nice work otherwise.

Did it come with the transporter pad or did you make it?
