The thing with Karl Urban is he is a very handsome guy, but he is able to be the hard-faced intimidating type, best shown in his backlog of Bad Guy characters. Personally, I watch Hercules and Xena in my teen years, so I recognised Karl in LotR, and then the next significant movie I saw him in was Star Trek. My mother is a fan of the Bourne series. I am not actually a huge movie watcher, but I really respect Urban's career.
I've been talking up Karl Urban for years. He can do anything. LOTR, Star Trek, Bourne Supremacy, Red, Dredd, the list goes on. I laughed my ass off when I saw him in Star Trek, playing Doctor McCoy, when he first meets Kirk. He channeled DeForest Kelly, which I didn't expect at all. Just NAILED the role by providing the familiarity of the original and adding his own approach.
Love Karl. My first see of him was LOTR I had a huge crush at age 13 so looked at past and post LOTR ( by the time I saw it) works and realized he was a fantastic actor too. loved Doom and Dredd. Bones was fantastic. Love seeing people I know saying how good he is in the boys now! Proper recognition
I first saw Karl in Doom. For such a silly movie, I was so impressed with his determination to make the project work. From that day on I promised to watch every movie he did. I’m so happy he’s getting the recognition he deserves 🥰
Love Karl Urban. He was everywhere for the last 30 years in all the genres I like. From great movies to straight to video to TV. I respected that he jumped mediums and he was always good in whatever he did. Love the Boys. Loved Dredd. Hated the cancelling of Almost Human. Love you Karl. Big Fan.
He was doing an interview at home for the boys tv series and the enthusiasism he had when showing the stuff he got from filming was of epic geek proportions!! He genuinely love talking about the things!!
Dredd is easily one of the best cyberpunk movies ever made, he’s right the movie wasn’t marketed well, the quality and vibe of the movie was better most movies that come out today
I've seen so many of these movies and didn't "notice" Karl. It wasn't until Star Trek that I was truly introduced to him and just loved the way he portrayed Bones and Chris as Kirk. He plays such a different character in "The Boys". I'm going to have to rewatch the other movies now and look for the ones that I haven't seen.
Karl Urban is well praised in my house. Didn't think much of the blonde hair because it's the first time we saw him but his portrayal of Eomer is so charismatic.
Dredd.. with Karl Urban is one of my favorite movies. I have watched this over 100 times.... Almost Human one of my favorite "series" ever. Have enjoyed almost everything Karl Urban has been in and the very few I haven't liked... I enjoyed his performance so there is that. Then there is Billy Butcher... hell ya.
Black Hat was actually one of my absolute favorite roles of his. The delivery of his lines and his acting in that movie were so eerily beautiful in a way. That kind of chaotic energy you love to watch with the smooth grace of his delivery in that character. He just wanted to watch the world burn in the most smoothly unhinged way possible, and it was glorious.
There's 3 things that get you parts in Hollywood. 1. Who you know 2. Your name value (though budget dependent) 3. Being a yes man and not to close to the source, don't want someone who will disagree with them and cause issue with their direction.
Bones McCoy was my favourite TOS character; when I saw Karl Urban was going to take on the role, I knew he'd nail it. Him and Simon Pegg are the only reasons I rewatched any of those Jar Jar Abrams films. I really hope he can get a Dredd sequel to fire off; he's got that same sort of energy Ryan Reynolds had towards Deadpool. From my perspective, Dredd 3D failed at the box office for a number of reasons; 1) it was 3D, nobody likes 3D, and everything at the time was coming out in 3D. 2) The marketing and advertising was pretty much non-existent. As such, 3), when it did finally release, everyone was sure it was going to be as bad as what Stallone gave us, so it was avoided. Once it was released on home video, the fandom caught on like wildfire, as such giving Dredd that cult following that many of the movies in this niche get. Pitch Black, The Crow, Starship Troopers, and so on.
Karl Urban is one of those people that has one of the most impressive resumes and yet hardly anyone can name him
my first movie I watched of Karl Urban was from his horror/action movie DOOM alongside The Rock when I was a kid, I didnt know Karl Urban cuz I wanted to watch it cuz of the Rock.
Been a go-go-gah-gah fan of Karl Urban's ever since I saw him play Julius Caesar in Xena! He's a great actor!
I don’t remember when I noticed Karl Urban but to me he has always been around. Always be relevant. And always been soooo good. Love him.
Thanks guy well put together! Love this guys acting!
I love me some Karl Urban.
Red was amazing as a showcase for his talents.
Also, love Doom. The FPS scene changed my life 😆
Love Karl Urban.
I love Karl in EVERYTHING
Karl Urban is honestly one of my favorite actors. Very underappreciated.
He's a bloody good actor and a professional
I love Karl Urban. Just nails every character.
He should be a major star!
He will get there
I hope we'll see more of him !!
I allways recognize Karl Urban since Lotr. Great face, great actor. ^^
Gorgeous underrated geek! 🤩🥰
Karl is the goat. He portrays these amazing characters in these hyper nerdverse roles and isnt an A-list actor. The goat.
I think we will be getting that Dredd 2 movie any day now
Dredd is so good, one of the many anti mainstream movies, which imo were perfect
Karl Urban is well praised in my house. Didn't think much of the blonde hair because it's the first time we saw him but his portrayal of Eomer is so charismatic.
Almost Human was a pretty good series too. I was pretty sad it was cancelled.
The best first person movie ever made is "Hardcore Henry". Trust me, it's insanely good.
Especially in 3D!
Dredd.. with Karl Urban is one of my favorite movies.
My favorite actor by far!
Karl could have been Doom. No diss on RDJ but it looks like who your friends are in Hollywood is what gets you parts.
There's 3 things that get you parts in Hollywood.
1. Who you know
2. Your name value (though budget dependent)
3. Being a yes man and not to close to the source, don't want someone who will disagree with them and cause issue with their direction.
I do want to see a another judge dredd movie with Karl urban in to cause he does the character justice
