Lyrics:
Pardon me while I burst
Pardon me while I burst
A decade ago, I never thought I would be.
A twenty three on the verge of spontaneous combustion. Woe-is-me
But I guess that it comes with the territory.
An ominous landscape of never-ending calamity.
I need you to hear. I need you to see.
That I have had all I can take
And exploding seems like a definite possibility
To me
So Pardon me while I burst into flames.
I've had enough of the world, and its people's mindless games
So Pardon me while I burn, and rise above the flame
Pardon me, pardon me. I'll never be the same.
That intro riff is dope as hell, love how the guitarist swells the volume control with the chords and the effect he uses
I absolutely loveeee the first 25 seconds of this song I’m like man, I wish they continued with it 😭😭 the rest of the song is nothing like the very beginning except like 2 minutes later they tease us again. Still a great song though ♥️

Mike einziger is dope. i went and saw incubus in march and he was good then :)
@@CottinTewis Nice! I saw Incubus back in 2004 and I almost got trampled on by the audience and died lol It was like being a sardine in a tin
super dreamyy
This song got me through some of my darkest days, whether it be substance abuse, tackling attraction that wasn’t mutual, or the homelessness I went through, it strengthened my spirit. It made me feel that everything I was going through wasn’t for nothing, and that it’d lead to something better. Fast forward a few years, and I’ve got a good grasp on my emotions, I’ve become cleansed of substance abuse, and I’m no longer homeless. I pushed to survive, and I did just fine doing so. I feel that sometimes people just need a push in the right direction and that’s this was for me. Odd, because I never thought music could save people til it saved me.
I hope that people out there struggling find your peace, your push to do better, and to never forget that there’s a light at the end of every tunnel.
God is real man. Look into Jesus
this is beautiful. i’m going through a time of struggle in my life at the moment actually, and this was comforting to read.

32 here. Me and my sister were both waitresses in high school. Her at a Mexican food restaurant and me at Pizza Hut in the early 2000s. There was a master iPod passed around town that went through both restaurants. My sister ended up with it and this was one of my favorites from it. Including a lot of 311 songs. ❤ simpler times

*_”Make Yourself” was the first burnt CD I ever listened to. A kid on the bus gave it to me to listen to over the weekend. He printed a custom label for it and everything. LOL I remember being so confused as to how he made an exact copy of an album. I miss that sense of the unknown these days. Anything I don’t understand, I look up on my phone and the mystery’s solved._*
Damn... You described my feeling of nostalgia on the exact words, thanks bro, made my night.
Have a good life my unknown fellow :)
Knowledge has increased
When I was 16, a girl that I liked printed all the lyrics from Hybrid Theory of LP by sneaking into his dad's office. To me it was magic in an age with no internet access, I had no printer or even computer. When she handed me the sheets, they smelled like her so I spend two weeks singing to this songs and remembering her. To this day, I know all the lyrics from that album.
Whenever my friends and I talk about something and forget something, we purposefully don't bring out our phones for a minute or two and try to remember. It's nice when we remember.
26 years old here. Listened to them throughout childhood due to my mom being a huge ass fan. They were also my first concert as a child. Their Morning View tour. Great band and always will be!

I agree bro. One of the most kick ass rock songs of all time. Kicks total and cimplete ass!
Pardon me
Omg hell definitely yea without a doubt
It's what you get when artists are genuine to what they are.
A song about coming of age and the everlasting fear of death. A reflection of what we all know is inevitable, being a ripe age of 18 this song has a deeper meaning than most think. The idea of bursting among the flame is going beyond death. Whether you believe in god or not we all have our struggles and suffering. Times change and the world changes, whether you change with the times is up to you. The song is beautiful in every way possible.
Death comes to all of us. Worrying about a natural process is foolish. Accept that fact, but do know what you have done will affect the future. Were you a good parent? A good person?
If God exists then this entity will sort us out for eternal life. If God doesn't exist then realize your choices, regardless of belief, in YOUR life affects future generations.
We all matter while we live. Our actions or non-actions affect the future.

I've loved this song forever but somehow never saw the video until today. It feels like I went back in time to when you had to figure out which hours of the day MTV actually played music, then cross your fingers and hope they played something you wanted to see. By the time I started watching MTV2 (remember when they played music there too?) and Fuse, Incubus was more popular and they only played their newer videos. Pretty awesome that now you can hop on UA-cam and see any video, any time, as many times as you want. The kids nowadays have no idea how different it was just 15 years ago.
Same with me. I would get super excited when the video actually played. Great times.

caparzzo The only band you missed that I can relate to, Nirvana, and not to be a so-called stereotypical hipsters, but Kurt Cobain is my all time idol, every word that left his mouth has affected almost all my actions through my short lived life, as a songwriter/ vocalist and as a person.
2024 and still going strong. Thank you to all the Gen X Dads who showed their millennial daughters good music like mine did. I was born in 93 and I was raised on 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s rock, and 2000/10s emo music and I refuse to listen to anything else. Music now has no meaning music then had all the meaning. Rock music is the only genre that has stayed consistent and I appreciate that. If rock music didn't exist I don't think I would be here today.
That's a neat and interesting take I had only figured out so many years ago that I was actually a millennial I guess you could consider me an elder millennial so I do feel like I was raised closer to the generation of Gen x, back then when this music was out I thought it was annoying stuff to gen xers but as I've grown older I've learned just how quickly time flies and how much of an illusion it really is enter always appreciate what I have cuz it is fleeting. It's very touching what you said about your dad, I was fortunate and still am fortunate to have parents that raised me a little bit old school
Earth day Birthday this song Hits Hard Happy 4th of July from a 90s kid
My dad is a boomer but he calls himself a X bc it more aligns w his values. But he loves 80’s since that’s what he grew up on. But he likes anything. My mom is a gen X and she’s the reason why I listen to what I do now. I listen to some late 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and my favorite is 00’s. Rock is also my favorite, the meaning and sound is just so good. I couldn’t imagine life without rock music. Now I do enjoy good hip hop too, but that’s just purely for the instrumental

I believe this song is talking about evolving out of your physical body into your spirit light body by burning through your karmic residue. Its kinda like you have to go through darkness in order to appreciate the light. Like symbolism of a phoenix--The phoenix when it grows tired, it builds a nest of aromatic twigs, and then sets fire to itself to be consumed in the funeral pyre of its own making. After three days, the phoenix would arise from the ashes, reborn.

They released a new album last year! It's called 8 cuz it's their eighth one.
THIS, is without a doubt their best song, their magnum opus.
On the movie little Nicky I always loved when they played this song
Damn right
Same! When he kisses the window and falls....lmao 🤣🤣
Not gonna lie, didn’t discover this until 2 years ago but it’s fire.

Glad you’re here to share the joy that is incubus
Its a classic to me. Its always new if you never heard it.

That song goes hard af , I forgot about this song ,
One of my favorite songs ever. Brings back my middle school days.
I remember hearing this song all the time on the rock stations.. They don't seem to play it anymore.
This song is my time machine. It feels like home.
I will NEVER get tired of this song. It came out when I was 12-13 years old, now I'm almost 37. This song just hits so hard. I was scared I was on the verge of combustion when I turned 23 lol
A decade ago I never thought I'd be a 44yr old on the verge of spontaneous combustion.....
They really nailed the feeling of early 20's life, it's where the real growing up happens.
your in real big trouble in life if you didnt grow up til your 20's

Hunter Iq
Because of Brandon I got them too :-D
I remember listening to this in the 90’s and it was very relevant to my life at the time. When I hear it today it makes me happily remember that time in my life.
It’s wild to be 23 today and be listening to this song in a completely different time than which it was written but the meaning stay the same and resonate as it would’ve with my parents
The aesthetic alone takes me back to being a kid
And they didnt find no abnormalities did they? Props, man.
